Lenovo G500 WiFi is slow

I have a Netgear dualband N Router.
I have three computerson my wireless network , a Lenovo G500 and two Toshibas laptops.  The Toshibas each run WiFi at 135Mbps.
If I connect the Lenovo G500 to the router with an ethernet cable it runs at 100.
The router is 15 feet from Lenovo G500.  The  Lenova G500 on Wifi runs at 65Mbps or slower.  Sometimes only at 48Mbps.  The speed occurs even if it is the only computer actrive on network .
As a test, I installed a Belkin N wireless adapter on the Lenovo G500 and connected on Wifi 2 and it connects at 135 Mbps.  It is only the Lenovo Wireless adapter that slows the G500 down.
How can I increase speed of Wifi on Lenovo?

hi Lenovog500,
Try This.
Download this first  WLAN Driver (Atheros, Broadcom, Realtek) but don't install yet
Make sure you know where to find this later
Now under Device Manager
right click on the Broadcomm 802.11 and select Uninstall.
Make sure to place a check under Delete driver software for this device
After the Uninstall click on view on device manager and select Scan for Hardware Changes.
Note that the Broadcomm may be back under the Network Adapter list
Uninstall it again and place a check under delete driver software.
You'll have to repeat the step until when you  don't have the option anymore to place a check under delete driver software.
If that happened click the scan for hardware changes one last time and then Install the driver I asked you to download earlier.
Connect to your wifi and see if that changes anything.

  • Lenovo G500 wifi disconects to limited access at randon after 30 mins or so.

    Hi
My G500 randomly drops my wifi connection after i have been connected for about 30 minutes. It will say limited connection, i then have to manually disconect and reconnect to my wifi to get internet access.
After I have done this the G500 will continue to disconect every couple of minutes making it unusable.
The laptop has been doing this pretty much since i bought it.
Please help as I am not very happy with it. It also fails to boot randomly and I have to remove the battery and hold the shut down key for 30 seconds which is also very frustrating. Is there a permanent fix for this problem?
    Guy

    hi guyrudkin,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Can we try setting a generic Inbox Driver.
Open Device Manager and look under Network adapters
Check what's your wireless device and Uninstall it (rightclick and select update driver)
Select Browse my computer for driver software
Select Let me pick from a list of driver software.
Now select a driver from a list that says Microsoft or WDM
Observe the performance if it will be much better.
    Let me know your findings
    Cheers!

  • Can't connect to WIFI in certain places- Lenovo G500

Ever since I bought this Lenovo G500 about a month back, the one main issue I am having is that I am unable to access internet in some places. For example, I can only access internet in certain spots in my library. In other spots where it doesn't work, it usually says my WIFI is limited.  And sometimes it even says I'm connected, but I still don't get internet access. I know it's not my shool's network problem because I see other people connecting in those spots with no problems and I can connect using my phone. This isn't only a problem with my school library either, as I could not connect to the network at my friend's apartment as well. While I am able to connect with the network in my dorm just fine, it's really frustrating because if I am at the library it only lets me connect in certain areas.
Can anyone help me with this issue? I updated to Windows 8.1 a couple weeks ago fwiw.

    hi cgambino,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Are you running Windows 8 or 8.1 on it,
Try downloading an updated driver from Intel Website.
    For Windows 8.1
Can you try to Turn off Bluetooth  under Charms > Change PC Settings > PC and Devices > Bluetooth
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Restart the system then check the settings again if it took it, Then try connecting to the Wifi,
        See if that works,

  • Does Lenovo G500 have any wifi problems?

Hi guys, 8 days ago i bought an Lenovo G580, the laptop was great, fast and everthing but it had one problem as many of you know, the wifi connection.... So i returned it and got my money back. I've now found another Lenovo, and its an Lenovo G500. My question is do any of you guys know which wifi card it has?? And is it better or worse than G580?? The specs of this laptop is Intel Core i5-3230M (2,60 GHz)4 GB RAM (but im going to buy one extra 4GB ram) so = 8GB RAM1TB HDDIntel HD Graphics 4000

OK I hope this helps many here. Friday 18th 2013, daughters laptop crapped out, went to Fry's electronics ad purchase the Lenovo g500, brought the laptop back to her dorm and proceeded to connect to her ASU internet, all the signal bars showed a strong signal (BUT) said limited connection, and we called the tech suppport at ASU and they tried everything, no luck, we also called Lenovo and they couldn't get it going either (WOW) !!! Went I this forum and tried the suggsted changes, disable Mcafee, power battery, ETC. and spent all night Friday trying to get this laptop going and no luck. OK now it's Saturday and called the campuses I.T department, they said there is no reason why you can't connect, even as a guest you should have no problems. No luck so now I so frustrated since the school or Lenovo couldn't getting going so we took it back to exchange it Yesterday (Sunday) the 20th, and the same problem with the ew laptop, so my daughter and I took the laptop to the schools I.T deparment and they tried to get it going, these are I.T. guys, and they couldn't get it going either, they tried a few updates and still no luck. they did their CMD prompt magic and still no luck, showed limited connection, same stuff Lenovo suggested. Now my daughter is in tears now!. She's a bio medical engineering student and in her third year maintaining a  deans list quota isn't easy and every minute counts, and needs her laptop. Well we did another round of tech support with the school and Lenovo for hours and neither one could get it going (WOW,WOW) Now dad here is very disappointed, even though I realized it wasn't the schools fault, or the new laptops fault, but I had to come to the realization that Lenovo knows of this problem since there are many posts I found regarding this issue and no fix. Last effort I called Lenovo one more time and spent an hour with them and still no help (BUT) they told me to call this number (1-877-453-6686) and they could help us get the laptop running (LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL PERHAPS?) But the light went out quick!, they said if I call that number I would be charged for the tech support, I'm (LIVID) at this point! Two and a half days of heartache, so I made one last ditch effort before I took the laptop back in the morning for a refund so I installed the latest broadcom update and disabled Mcafee and restarted the computer and instantly my daughter's computer was connected to the internet.I know what your thinking , why didn't I.T, or Lenovo mention that particular update?, and I did have to use another computer to get the update and transfer it to  zip drive to install I hope this helps anyone in the future, man that was a brutal experience

  • Lenovo G500S Touch (WIndows 8) Drops Wireless

I am having problems with my new Lenovo G500S Touch with Windows 8 where it drops my wireless connection.  I have other laptops (Windows 7 and 8) and these are all fine.  I have worked with Lenovo support since 8/7 with no resolution and was sent to Advanced Support and now they expect me to pay for assistance!!! They say it's a software issue but have not proven it's a software issue.
    I have updated the drivers
I have made sure all of the Power Options are set to Maximum
I have gone through numerous posts on Wireless Connectivity issue and Windows 8 to no avail.
Any assistance from this group would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance

    hi mmckenerick,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Your issue might be similar to this thread.
If you have already updated the wifi drivers, booted in Safe mode with networking and yet to no avail, It's possible that the wi-fi cable connectors are loose and causes the wifi signal to drop.
    Try to:
    1. Turn the computer OFF and remove the AC adapter and battery.
    2. Re-seat the wi-fi cable connectors (see page 44 of the hardware maintenance manual).
    3. Re-insert the AC adapter and battery, then the computer ON, boot into Windows and observe the wi-fi connection.
    Let me know your findings

  • WIN XP On Lenovo G500 - Intel Core i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz

Because, I must have WIN XP to run some particular applications, I have installed WIN XP SP3 - 32 bit - on my new Lenovo G500 Machine.
Guidance about the necessary drivers for running WIN XP - SP3 - 32 bit is required, as because I am a novice on that count. The Lenovo Download pages do not offer any drivers for WIN XP.
However, the WIN 7 - 32 bit drivers work fine with WIN XP, except the followings:
    1.         Chipset Driver Install
                    Tried     >>   imei110w7.exe

Can anybody out there help me solve these problems. Where is the mistake that I am committing. Any suitable or compatible drivers are urgently required.
    Thanks in advance.

One more thing that I forgot to mention is:
The Device Manager shows the followings with a yellow exclamation mark:
    01. Blutooth USB Host Controller;
    02. Network Controller;
    03. Unknown Device - this I had read that will be recognized after installation of Energy Management;
And, under System Devices (in the Device Manager) PCI Simple Communication Controller - is also shown with a yellow Exclamation.
    Thanks

  • Lenovo G500 takes a lot of time to start.

Hello there, guys. I had purchased my Lenovo G500 just last year, and I haven't used it much. Usually I write some letters, watch my university lectures and sometimes a movie and I always scan my laptop for virusesses as well and try to keep as less as data as possible. I have 386gb free out of 424gb in C drive and 21gb free out of 27gb in the other drive, these are the only two drives I have. I don't have any additional software installed in my laptop apart from VLC Media Player, and I've deleted a few default applications such as Skype, Viber, PowerDVD, Zinio Reader and so on as I didn't need them. Now the issue is very simple - When I press the start button, the "Lenovo: screen appears and it stays there for even hours sometimes, it just won't start no matter how long do I wait. I keep restartting and restarting until it finally starts, but even that process takes at least 4 minutes to come to the :Welcome: screen. Howevr when I had newly purchased the laptop, it used to start within few seconds and even for months. This issue is occuring for few months, 2 or 1 specifically that I'm not sure about but no more than 2 months. I want you guys to tell me what appropriate and necessary steps I should take in order to get it back to its same old and new starting speed, my laptop is very clean and rarely used.

I really thought someone would at least bother replying here and say hi if they can't even help me.
Such a useless community forum where I got no assistance for days, I wasted my time registering and checking up on the thread every two or three hours.
Instead I could dedicate the same time on Microsoft or Google and search for volunteer guides rather than sitting with a hope that the ''lenovo support community'' would assist me.

I don't have a similar machine to look at so this is a bit of a guess:
Per page 30 or your user's guide http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/lenovo_g400sg400stouchg500sg500stouchg405sg505s_ug_e...:
How can I start the BIOS setup utility?
To start the BIOS setup utility:
    1 Shut down the computer.
2 Press the Novo button and then select BIOS Setup
There should be a tab labelled something like "Configuration" and on that page something like "SATA controller mode".  Select "compatible" and save and exit.
I'm not certain this will fix your problem, but it's worth a try.

    (01.) ACPI/VPC2004 and
(02.) Network Controller (Device ID being PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0032&SUBSYS_32187AA)
    (03.) Bluetooth USB Host Controller
    as unknown items.
Regarding the  (01.) ACPI/VPC2004 the following Lenovo Support page
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/diagnose-and-fix/detail.page?DocID=HT071645
says to download and install Energy Management with proper Operating System. The said page also contains a link, but that link leads to another page:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?LegacyDocID=DRVR-MATRIX
Here, on the new page, I just can not figure out where to go or what to do.
Can anybody please guide this oldman how to install WIN XP SP 3 Pro - 32 bit on my new G500? What are the drivers required for installationof WIN XP SP 3 Pro - 32 bit and where from to download them (if possible with links to download pages), and a guide about the sequence for driver installation, i.e. which driver to install first (after installation of WIN XP) and which one at the last of the process, so that I can install the same.
    Thanks in advance

Just to add to the knowledge base: I've been installing Windows XP SP3, 32-bit edition on a Lenovo G500; my findings so far follow. I haven't tested 64-bit. To determine of your system is 32-bit or 64-bit, see: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wlan/sb/CS-032028.htm
    Ethernet Controller
The driver at the touslesdrivers link for the G500 Network Controller (hard-wired ethernet) posted by damon007 worked on my machine (G500 purchased Dec 2013). Here's the link again for reference:
    http://www.touslesdrivers.com/index.php?v_page=23&v_code=34891
Device manager now lists the device as:
Qualcomm Atheros AR8162/8166/8168 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller
    Wi-fi, Bluetooth
My machine has the following combination wi-fi and bluetooth card by Intel:
    Intel Centrino Wireless-N 135
The following Windows XP wi-fi driver worked for me:
    https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=22785&lang=eng&OSVersion=Windows%20X...
The following Windows XP bluetooth driver worked for me:

    SD Card Reader
