Lenovo G510 can't access most BIOS features

Brand new Lenovo G510 running Windows 7 Ultimate 64. I'm trying to get into the BIOS to view things like my memory timing, but I also need to get into the system monitor so I can view temperature readings and also access and adjust fan speeds.
I can boot into some kind of BIOS using either the little Lenovo button, or by mashing F2, but neither of these BIOS pages are nearly as robust as my desktop BIOS settings have been.
This is my first ever laptop, so maybe this is normal, but it's frustrating to be told to change fan speeds to go into a menu which I can't even view, let alone modify. Hopefully this is just user error and not something related to the system.

For an OEM Laptop system this is quite normal.
Unlike Desktop that has a lot of BIOS Settings, Laptops only has few specially for OEM laptops where most of the settings are preset and non viewable inside the BIOS.

There are users who tried unlocking / modding the BIOS (You can look it up online) but there are a lot more to it. and may cause serious damage to the system if done wrong.
I strongly suggest to use the system as it is
There are TEMP monitor software like HWmonitor to check GPU and CPU Temperature.
But for the fan speed Im doubt that it can be detected via software as it was tried before and there were no fan detected on the laptos.

Ever since I got the last two updates for Firefox I can't access most .mil sites like ako or even the us army library Europe site. Do the sites work any differently?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to FP requireing an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I fould a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

I was given an older ipod as a gift and want to load the songs into my computer, but it says that I can not access the sync feature. I registered for an Apple ID and when I tried it won't let me register.

When I was given the iPod it had a GREAT load of songs already on it. (That was part of the whole "gift" thing.) I want to sync it and create playlists in my own library and copy the songs to my computer's library too. I applied for an Apple ID, and find that this is so old that eventhough it was NEVER registered it is listed under a weird username and won't let me register as the new owner to access the music and sync. What do I do? It is an older version (I'm assuming) with 80G and only 25 have been used. I can't access the music already loaded and don't want to lose the mp3 files I have in my existing library now too.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work. Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them. The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

I updated to Mountain Lion and can't access most of my photo libraries , both Aperture and iPhoto

After updatiing yesterday I cant access my libraries, I get two different messages, one says :"Aperture can't access this Library' "to use this library , make sure its file permissions are set correctly". The next one says "Unable to write to library iPhoto Library 2
check that you have permissions to write to the library directory.Any ideas what I have to do tho get access again.

I have been having the same issue, although the external drive is not an array. It's a multi-disk setup where the drives are manually duplicated using Super Duper, although it could be set up as an array. The suggestion to remove the external drive(s) from the system, spinning them down, then plugging them in worked ONCE. After that, the next time Aperture was relaunced, the problem resumed. And now spinning them down or taking them out and restarting them, even restarting the Mac, has no effect. I'm testing to see if moving the Libraries to another drive and reformatting the drives in this external enclosure before bringing the libraries back will have an remedy. It may be there needs to be a firmware update to the external enclosure in order to work properly with Mountain Lion.

Can't access CMOS/BIOS - BLACK

I can see the very first part of POST. If I press pause/break, it tells me that DEL will take me to CMOS. If it does, it is not displaying and I can't see it.
I thought perhaps it was my USB keyboard, but I've changed that out to a regular keyboard. Then, I thought maybe it was my AGP graphics card, so I changed that out to an old Diamond S3.
I know it's not my monitor backlight, since I can see the first part of POST. I can also display fine from within Windows98 from a DOS prompt.
What I CAN'T do is:
Restart to DOS (screen is black)
Access CMOS information (screen is black)
Any other suggestions? I need to be able to SEE my CMOS information and change something.
Everything works just fine in Windows.

In addition to the above-mentioned change-outs, the LED on the monitor stays green, just as it does when displaying the first part of POST, when I press DEL to access CMOS. I believe it is probably GOING INTO cmos, I just can't see it.
Today I tried another monitor and still no go.
I also changed the resolution. No go.
I at first thought it was the USB keyboard, or that the graphics card was windows only, but changing all these things out has proved that wrong.
The builder is a 5-hour trip by car for me, so I was trying to solve this myself. I suspect either there is some weird setting in CMOS which I can't change since I can't see it, OR, that there is a chip on the motherboard that is bad.
I'll check back in on Monday night after my long drive and tell you what happened. I've stumped people in 2 other tech forums, so we are all waiting with baited breath on this one!

Can't access the BIOS

I have a Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5303 that I was having some trouble with. Someone suggested that I disable the secure boot setting in the BIOS and change UEFU to CSM. I tried this and it didn't help. Now I can't get into the BIOS at all ! Do I need to flash the BIOS ? And if so how do I do that ?

Satellite L55-B5357 Can't access BIOS

How can i access/open BIOS on my satellite L55-B5357 laptop?? I've never had an issue opening bios on any conputer i've owned. I like this laptop, but i need to access bios and just can't figure it out. I've held F2 while powering up, held FN key plus F2 while powering up, tried ESC and most other F keys to no avail. I get the Tishiba Black screen first then it goes to the windows screen where i have to log in, no bios option. Please help???? This is driving me nuts, i've searched all over the internet and you guys are my last hope, what can i possibly be doing wrong, this should not be a problem, it should be as easy as pressing a key during boot. Thanks.

Since Win 8 and 8.1 came along, things have changed a bit. Hold DOWN the shift key while clicking Shutdown. Hold DOWN F2 while pressing the Power button. Voila! The BIOS/UEFI will appear.

Purchased subscription but can't access features

I purchased a monthly subscription to Acrobat Pro. I paid.
Then, I downloaded the product. However, it opened and said "start your free trial."
So it appears I am only in a free trial mode.
I can't access many Pro features, such as "Tools" and "Preflight."
This is annoying. Please help.

There's no difference between the trial version and the full except for the number of days of usage. The trial is good for 30 days.
Since you have purchased the subscription, you can license the trial software by entering your Adobe ID.
The subscription is linked to your Adobe ID.

Can't Access Myspace Profiles via Safari/Firefox/Explorer/Opera... help?

I can't access 95% of all the profile pages I try to view on Myspace. It starts loading and then I get the spinning beach ball. I did some experimenting, and I turned off Javascript on Safari and they started loading again, but I can't access a lot of features-- I couldn't even log into this discussion without Javascript!! I think my javascript is corrupted. Is there a way to replace my javascript thingy? I'm really upset about this. My software is all up to date, as are my permissions. Any advice would be helpful.

Same here. Permissions repaired, PlugIns removed and reinstalled one after another (InputManagers: Chax, Menu Extra Enabler, PicLens, SafariBlock, SafariPlus, SIMBL), reinstalled flash, DivX, Flip4Mac, Perian. All up to date. But whatever I do, I can't access (most of the sites of) MySpace, YouTube, etc.! No difference whether I use Safari, FireFox or Opera: The processor speeds up to 100% and the beach-ball goes spinning round and round and… The only (but radical) solution than is pressing the power-button! I had this problem with Safari 2, I have it with Safari 3, and I definitely don't know what to do! Hoped with every update, but…
I don't know if that's a problem with flash or JavaScript or something completely different, but I can't see why Apple does not get that fixed! I mean, I'm really not the only one being frustrated by surfing the web while more and more blogs integrate YouTube-Videos… That's no fun using a mac!

Accessing the BIOS - Post Windows 7 Install

After I installed Windows 7 I lost the ability to access the BIOS through pressing the Lenovo Care button. How do I retain this ability? This is on a Lenovo SL500 Thinkpad.

Have you installed the "System Interface Driver" from the Lenovo Windows 7 beta downloads page? I think that this is the driver that enables the blue Lenovo button.
If that doesn't work, you can still access the BIOS setup by tapping on the F1 key while the computer is starting up.

I can't access most webpages. i can go onto google but when i double click a link it won't let me access it.

Go step by step and test.
1. Power cycle
     Power off the router. Unplug it from the wall. Wait a while.
     Plug it back to the wall. Power the router on. Wait until all the lights are lit properly.
     It will take a   while.
     Restart the computer.
     Start up in Safe Mode

      Click "Reset".
4. Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and all other website data:
     Press “Remove All Website Data” button
5. Turn off Extensions if any, and launch Safari.
    Safari > Preferences > Extensions
6. Deselect Proxies if selected.
   System Preference > Network > Advanced > Proxies Tab
   Under "Select Protocol", uncheck any box if selected.
   Click "OK" then "Apply"
7. Check for Adware.

Unlocking advanced BIOS features on GT80

Hello!
I am a very happy owner of the GT80, and so far everything works perfectly. I was made aware that you can unlock the advanced BIOS features of this machine, but I don't know how. I would like to try them and see what additional features can be tweaked.
Does anyone know how to unlock those features, like with my original MSI GX660R where you only had to hold Shift+CTRL+ALT+Insert ? hehehehe

Yes and no. Power consumption meters show that the GT80 with 4980HQ consumes around 326W total system power under load. That CPU can consume up to 80W on its own, while doing its own turbo. Intel 4720HQ can consume near 60W under same turbo conditions.
Obviously the system can take it, as it can hold this for about a minute until intel self regulates to the TDP of 47W. If we could adjust this to the same values the CPU already consume, like 60W, we could significantly improve long term performance.
If you overclock the GPU's though, that will surely consume more power. But at its current 330W psu, we have alot of headroom for the system to operate how it should without problems.
I wish we could set the TDP at 60W for the CPU. IT is quite limited right now when doing intensive tasks, often power throttling (not due to thermals but 47W tdp) and reducing its speed to 3Ghz, or even lower depending on the load. At 60W, we could maintain 3.6Ghz indefinitely.
Due to the low 47W TDP, there is hardly a difference in performance between any of the core i7 HQ processors, after 1 min of operation at full load.

I had some problems with the intel turbo boost not working properly so I updated my bios with the new version from 2013-09-03. After this update the intel turbo boost works fine but since I can't access my bios anymore. Does anyone have a solution?

Problem solved. It seems that after the update you have less time to press delete to enter the bios.
