I would suggest a Battery gauge reset, but im not 100% sure if it will work out, though you can try a gauge reset, considering the age of the machine I would also suggest a battery replacement

  • Lenovo x240 battery issue

Hi Everyone I have a Lenovo x240 connected to a USB 3 Thinkpad docking station and I had a message come up saying "Windows is unable to stop the device "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery*. Don't remove this device while it is still in use. Close any programs using this device and then remove it."

Do you have both batteries for Power Bridge in your X240?

  • Lenovo G550 - Keyboard Issue

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I must have accidently hit a wrong key.  It seems that there is something wrong with my SHIFT KEYS and with the CTRL KEY on the left side of my keyboard.  I have a feeling I hit a wrong combonation of keys because the problems happened during a time when I was typing a post on another discussion board.  I used Chrome, Firefox, Outlook, and Word to make sure it wasn't browser related.  It wasn't.  From what I can tell when I hit my Right hand CTRL KEY it switches tabs within my browser.  When I hit the Right side SHIFT KEY it highlights a bunch of the last words that were typed and if you hit it a 2nd time it deletes those words and highlights another bunch of words before the previous deleted words.  When I hit the left side SHIFT KEY by itself nothing happens, but when I hit the right handed SHIFT KEY along with another letter then it brings up stuff in my browser instead of just CAPITALIZING the letter like it usually does.  For example when I hit SHIFT F a FIND Box opens up in the upper left hand corner of my google chrome browser.  I know your thinking don't you mean when you hit CTRL F that the find box came up NO I  do mean when I hit SHIFT F.  It does other things when I hit the SHIFT KEY with other keys depending on what key I hit at the same time I hit SHIFT.
Does anyone know what the problem is. Sorry can't put a question mark or any of the symbols above the numbers.  What do I need to do to fix it as its driving me crazy.  PLEASE HELP

Update: Whatever it was eventually fixed itself after pretty much doing nothing while sitting around turned on while I watched TV. I woke it up from Sleep mode and it was fixed. Which is strange considering I restarted it and did a full shut Down and neither worked. Apparently a good snooze was all it needed. lol

  • Lenovo G570 battery not charging. Battery stuck at 90% but has no charge at all.

    Hi,
My Lenovo G570 battery is stuck at 90%. It says plugged in, not charging. It just happened over night. Next day battery refuse to work.
In windows it says battery 90% and is not charging but battery has no charge at all. When I disconnet the A/C power laptop just shutdown immediately. As soon as I unplug the power laptop just shutdown as there is no charge in the battery.
I did reinstalled the Power managment and also updated it. I all unpluged reboot in OS, restart, put battery back and boot into the OS back. Nothing seems to work. Is there any suggestions?
UPDATE: I just installed Lenovo Enery Managment in windows 8 before I was trying in windows 7. In the battery tab there are two options
    Maximun battery Life
    Optimized battery Health
It is selected to "Optimized battery Health" and won't change regardless of power plan. I click on  "Maximun battery Life" and when I open the app again it reset it to "Optimized battery Health".
UPDATE # 2: Lenovo Solution Center say that battery life is GOOD. "Your battery is in good condition".

Ive been needing a new charger for the last year and a half. Bought one off of EBay ...that stopped working literally after 2 weeks, and I had to use sellotape to secure in to the jack lol.
Anyways, unfortunately Ive been unable to use the Lenovo laptop for the last few days and really need to get working on a proper laptop. Thank God , I have an old laptop to do a few E-Mails . But I'm also in need of a battery too..

  • Lenovo G550 does not charge battery!!!! please help!!!!! :c

So i havent used my Lenovo for about a year and a half because i had lost the originial charger. ive recently bought a new cheap charger from amazon and thought it was the charger that was the problem when i looked it up online and found out it may be a bug from Windows 7. Now, this charger does turn on my laptop, but it does not charge it. It simply says "plugged in, not charging" and when i was reading an article on how to fix this , i was trying for hours to uninstall a program under device management called Microsoft ACPI- Compliant Conntrol Method Battery, because it was said that uninstalling this would help the system charge again. but after countless hours, i found that the program reinstalls itself and i am left with a laptop that just wont charge. my laptop says 0% (plugged in, not charging) and i really need this to work for the upcoming school year. i dont know what else to do! whenever i disconnect the wire the system completely shuts down and if i dont fix this problem ill just have to get rid of my Lenovo G550, which i absolutely LOVE! please, anyone help me! do i need to install a new version of windows? do i need to uninstall something? or is my laptop absolutely done for?
    please, please, please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    hi Chernandez51,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From your observation, it seems like the battery was fully discharged after not being for a long time (batteries degrade overtime due to age, heat, and usage).
What you can try is to charge the battery for an hour or two while the computer is off then observe the status light indicators.
     - Link to picture
If the battery still doesn't take a charge then the battery might have gone faulty and needs a replacement.
For best compatibility, I recommend you use a Lenovo approved AC adapter and charger. You can buy one from the lenovo spare parts website (www.lenovospareparts.com) or you can buy online (eg. Amazon, Ebay, etc.) but ensure that there's a Lenovo FRU part number on the item..

  • Lenovo G550 CMOS Battery replacement

Hi, I have a Lenovo G550 which sometimes fails to start. If left for a few days it eventually starts up. When it does finally start there is a "check date and time" error on the boot menu. When I go into the bios settings I find that the date and time has returned to default. So I set the correct date and time, reboot and all is well until the next time.
After reading this forum I believe it is a CMOS Battery error.
Is it possible for me to replace this battery? If so where is it located on the mother board?
    Thanks in Advance

can you remove the bottom panel of the laptop?

  • Lenovo G550 does not charge properly.

    Well, hello everyone.
I have been experiencing a problem with my Lenovo G550 lately. It doesn't charge properly and at most cases, I have to charge it when it's turned off. When I start up my laptop and as soon as I get to the Windows login screen (or not even up to the loading screen), the power LED starts to blink. I log in to see the laptop not charging. I have tried everything you'd usually do such as, turning the laptop off and on after awhile, removing the battery and putting it in after a few minutes or maybe even an hour, check the charger, take the charger in and out of the laptop and even letting the laptop rest for awhile without the charger or battery in. Sometimes even after all that, it seems like it still doesn't charge. Sometimes it does charge when turned on, although, only charges for a few minutes and stops charging. Even when switched off, sometimes, it doesn't charge properly either.
If you know anything that would fix this, a suggestion or if you know why I'm having this problem, please reply to this.
    Ah, silly little computer.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have a friends laptop hoping to fix a common issue (or as I thought) of a broken power adapter socket. Without the battery in place when you plug the ac adapter in you get no lights and when you press the power button nothing happens.
Upon disassembly and also with the use of the internet I found that Lenovo actually has a nice setup where the yellow socket is removable retained by a single screw, with a pigtail and plug for the main board. So I pin tested the plug using an ohm meter and it tested good. Then I reattached the plug to the motherboard and tested it using the ac adapter and got 20V between both blue and black terminals. Then flipped the board over and I got the same results on the pins on the back of the board so power is getting to the solder points. But that is where the trail went cold.
Anyone have any ideas? I won't recommend her to buy a new motherboard at this point of even go to the expense of having it checked out which would exceed the value of this unit.
I am thinking there is a voltage regulator somewhere in between the battery and the mainboard power that might be the cause but that is above my electronic prowess.
One thing I can say is if this is not a simple fix I will guide her to look to another brand for a replacement. I have it stripped down to the mainboard and tempted to reassemble it to see if it really does charge the battery but just doesn't let you know via the charge lamp. I do know it won't run without the battery pack which has a little power left but saving it for now.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks,
    Steve

  • Lenovo G550 Keyboard not Working.... Can't log in to the system...

Hi, I am using Lenovo G550 Model. Yesterday, I started facing this problem. When I tried to login, none of the keys worked. When I pressed Backspace, it started typing something. I tried to use on screen keyboard, which did not help either. Same problem persists with on screen keyboard as well. I, even, tried using an USB external keyboard & the same problem is there too. Kindly help me!!!

    hi Avikiru,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    Can you try,
Remove the AC and the Battery
Hold the Power Button down for at least 15 sec.
Reconnect just the AC and see if that'll work
If not You can contact a Lenovo Support Team or a Local Technician to have the Keyboard connection checked.

  • Lenovo G550 processor upgrade

I am upgrading a Lenovo G550 that I purchased a few years ago for my wife. So far I was able to install 8GB or RAM and a 500GB HDD with no issues. However when I tried to upgrade the processor, the laptop would not power up. It will turn on and the lights will indicate that the HDD is on and the battery is on, but I do not get the Lenovo splash screen. I hear my fan going but nothing happens. Only a black screen. I purchased an Intel Core 2 Duo processor P7550 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 3MB L2 Cache) based on the speciation sheet below. I was wondering if anyone might know where I could find any documentation that specifically lists what CPUs are compatible with the Lenovo G550. Ideally I'd like to install the best processor it will take. Thank you.

    hi there,
I haven't seen a G550 with a Intel Core 2 Extreme Mobile QX9300 CPU but if you bought it working from a G550 laptop or it has a lenovo FRU on it then it may work (it'll also good if you can return the item just in case it doesn't work).
In addition, take note that the QX9300 has a max TDP of 45W, whereas the CPU's listed in this pdt datasheet are only 35W so the motherboard might not take the heat if the QX9300 reaches it's peak usage.
Also, I've looked into some additional details and these are the CPU's that are tested to work with the G550.
