so i have a lenovo G550
there's only dos ( i know its stupid,but it's a long story)
i want to boot my windows xp cd,but the laptop can't read the cd
i've looked for the problem..and the problem is:
PXE-E61 : Media test failure, check cable
i've read in many boards that i have to make a bios update
but how can i make a bios update via DOS?

Go to Solution.press f2 when you see lenovo logo at start-up, then select "factory settings" save and exit and check if it works.
if it doesn't work, shut down your computer and start up it by pressing one key recover button ( arrow sign ) then follow the instructions to perform clean windows installation. -
Hello mates,
I am using the Lenovo G550. It is brand new. i uninstalled the Vista and setup XP SP3 on it. Everything works fine but takes a HELL lot of time to boot up. Also when I uninstalled Vista and installed XP, I wanted to change the drives and paritions but somehow it does not let me format C: drive, so I had to install XP on another drive. Please help. I am a new member in this forum so it will take time until I understand how things work here so please forgive my mistakes. Thanks for paying attention to my problem.
Hoping for a quick replyWhen you state:
"so I had to install XP on another drive"
do you mean another partition on the existing drive,
or replaced the drive with another physical drive?
There is a hidden service partition on the drive
which xp setup will not delete. You should find software
to "zero" the drive (totally erase by writing zeros)
and then you can create partitions when you run the XP install.
Of course, if you zero the drive your recovery partition will
also be gone, but it is probably unuseable now anyhow.
Once you get a clean XP install, with no partitions other than
what YOU create, boot time should improve. -

Intel UNDI - PXE - 2.0 OPTION saying Check Cable connection ! PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
No Bootable Device - insert boot disk and press any key ..
2. When I open Setup - BIOS screen using F2 key, under Information Tab in Setup Utility Under HARD DISK & CD/DVD ROM - [Not Detected] - [Not detected] (This is happenning when I keep SATA Controller Mode as [Compatible] in Configuration Tab - I need to this if I want my Both Windows OS to work, because I installed it using Imaging - Ghost etc Methodology.
3. But by Default the Option of SATA Controller Mode is [AHCI], having this reset using LOAD Default Setting, System goes back to AHCI mode, and HARD DISK is displayed as WDC WD7500BPVT - 24HXZT3 and DVD ROM: Not detected, but even now Laptop Does not boot.

Hello everyone.
My laptop doesn't seem to boot up properly.
When I turn it on, it goes through the motions. The loading screen comes up and everything but after that I get a black screen with a movable white cursor.
I've tried starting it in safe mode but the results always the same.
I've tried restoring it twice and the system restore window pops up so I know it's not a problem with the screen.
I've performed a chkdsk but that hasn't done the trick either.
Any help would be appreciated.
I reinstalled AVG last night. Maybe the installation was corrupted?

Lenovo B590 big problem, HELP!!!
Hello,
I have big problem with my Lenovo B590 20206 laptop. [windows 7 pro 64 bit installed]
After turn my laptop to standby mode (manualy or after 1 hour without use laptop) and when I want to wake up laptop all what I see is black screen and I must hold push power button for 5 second to force off.
BTW when laptop is in standby mode everything looks good, led is blinking and after pushing any button I hear that fan and hard disk is starting but all what i got is black screen, even CTRL + ALT + DEL doesnt work.
I've tried replace RAM, reinstalled alot of drivers but without success. Windows 7 of course works perfect, only sleep mode (standby] doesnt work.
Another problem is that i cant update bios, my current is 1.10 which is not recent imho (maybe bios update would help with problem above?). Ive downloaded BIOS Update Utility for Windows 7 from lenovo site but when i tried to update i ve got a warning like this:
so i tried to update from Windows 7 and BIOS Update Utility for CD ISO image and i got error "THE SYSTEM PROGRAM FILE IS DAMAGED. THE PROCESS HAS BEEN CANCELED."
My last question is about disk replacement in that lenovo b590, original 500gb disk is 7mm high, can I replace it with 9,5mm disk?
Any help would be appreciated, sorry for my english btw.hi feeling,

Satellite L305D-S5934 Boot Problems - HELP!
I'm sure this question has been asked, or I could find the information elsewhere, however, I'm neither computer savvy nor patient enough to look for this info. Therefore, I need some help with a problem on my Satellite L305D-S5934 laptop. When I "power-up" the unit, I get this Windows Boot Manager message:
Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.
If you continue to recieve this erroe message, contact the hardware manufacturer.
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: OxcOOOOOe9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured.
ENTER=Continue ESC=Exit
Every time I get to this point, and then hit enter to continue, it acts like it might boot up, then it goes blank. I don't know a lot about computers. We've had this laptop for roughly 6-7 weeks now, and haven't had a problem. We've never used a portable storage device on it, ever, and it is used for nothing more than my wife on Facebook, and checking e-mail and IMDB while watching movies. Basically a play computer while watching TV. It worked fine until last Wednesday, then it just did this after shutting down one night. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!Satellite L305D-S5934

What's your problem? You don't think a BIOS update can fix memory errors, or BSOD/reboot? It does not matter to me because I know what I know........
If you look at a few of my other posts you will see. I do not feel the need to repeat myself and do not want to relive it. I only have about 20 posts ya know.
And by the way, the one that actually fixed my problems was BIOS 1.6, and then MSI released 1.9 a couple of days later. I am just trying to help others so they do not have to go through what I went through.
BIOS 1.7 which shipped with my new board was very unstable to say the least. 1.9 is the latest and works well, (wish I had a previousely tested BIOS) so I was just updating that 1.9 should hopefully work for other similar setups and errors.
p.s. Jeeeez, I can't believe you just made me explain all of that!!!!!!!!!! -

So i havent used my Lenovo for about a year and a half because i had lost the originial charger. ive recently bought a new cheap charger from amazon and thought it was the charger that was the problem when i looked it up online and found out it may be a bug from Windows 7. Now, this charger does turn on my laptop, but it does not charge it. It simply says "plugged in, not charging" and when i was reading an article on how to fix this , i was trying for hours to uninstall a program under device management called Microsoft ACPI- Compliant Conntrol Method Battery, because it was said that uninstalling this would help the system charge again. but after countless hours, i found that the program reinstalls itself and i am left with a laptop that just wont charge. my laptop says 0% (plugged in, not charging) and i really need this to work for the upcoming school year. i dont know what else to do! whenever i disconnect the wire the system completely shuts down and if i dont fix this problem ill just have to get rid of my Lenovo G550, which i absolutely LOVE! please, anyone help me! do i need to install a new version of windows? do i need to uninstall something? or is my laptop absolutely done for?
please, please, please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hi Chernandez51,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From your observation, it seems like the battery was fully discharged after not being for a long time (batteries degrade overtime due to age, heat, and usage).
What you can try is to charge the battery for an hour or two while the computer is off then observe the status light indicators.

If the battery still doesn't take a charge then the battery might have gone faulty and needs a replacement.
For best compatibility, I recommend you use a Lenovo approved AC adapter and charger. You can buy one from the lenovo spare parts website (www.lenovospareparts.com) or you can buy online (eg. Amazon, Ebay, etc.) but ensure that there's a Lenovo FRU part number on the item..

I opened readme file it says somthing like "Change Point: Add .Net3.5 in driver package"- Does this mean that this driver installaton needs dotnet 3.5 or they updated driver to support dotnet 3.5 ???
I am installing driver from following link

but this driver is failing.
Can someone please help me in finding audio driver for windows XP

Lenovo G550 one key recovery and wi-fi problem
Hello all,
I have recently upgraded Vista to Win 7 on my G550 and I have a problem with the wlan connection. I get connected, but there's no internet access, only "limited connectivity". The driver's installed correctly, I've checked each and every setting and cannot find the source of this problem.
My OneKeyRecovery is not working anymore, I looked at the drivers site and saw there is no Recovery driver for Win 7. How can this be?
Anyone care to help me, please?Could be a problem with the Lenovo ReadyConn-software, as described here:

- click start, right-click computer, and then click properties.in the tasks pane, click device manager.
- if you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click continue.
- in device manager, locate the device for which you want to install the driver.
note to display hidden devices, click show hidden devices on the view menu.
- right-click the device, and then click update driver software.
- click browse my computer for driver software, click let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, and then click have disk.
- in the install from disk dialog box, click browse, locate an .inf file for the device driver that you want to install, and then click open.
- follow the steps in the update driver software devicename dialog box to update the driver
