Lenovo g550 can't use wifi or video card after clean install of windows 7 from generic iso

My hard disk crashed and I didn't have the restore cd, and windows doesn't see the WIFI or Video card now. I've updated the drivers from support but it still work see them. I haven't tried updating the bios version yet. Is there a step i'm missing?

Welcome to the forum. Please post a picture of device manager. That will give a much better idea of what's missing.
It is always best to install drivers in the following order. Chipset, Audio, Video, Ethernet, Energy Management and then the rest.

There's no change if I hold command-R to boot into recovery. The mac chimes on powerup but nothing else seems to happen.
The machine has an SSD drive in it so I can't even listen to hear if it is loading anything or acting differently when I try different keypresses.
As I had some spare RAM lying around, I've tried swapping that in but no change there either. I still suspect it's a software rather than hardware problem, but without any way to control the boot up, I'm not sure how I can fix it.
I do have remote time machine backups - is there any way of restoring these manually, perhaps by removing the drive from the mac and copying the backup data over using another system? (Unfortunately I don't have any other mac systems to experiment with this, though)

Can I use two different generations of MSI video cards that implement the same GPU for SLI?
The two video cards are:
MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv2 GeForce GTX 260 896MB <-- What I currently have
MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv3 GeForce GTX 260 896MB
MSI N260GTX-T2D896-OCv4 GeForce GTX 260 896MB
The main difference between these three seems to be that the OCv3 has two fans and a different heatsink than the OCv2. The OCv4 has one fan like the OCv2 and but it is located in a different location and some weird spikey heatsink thing going on. I already have the OCv2 but I am looking to get another card for SLI and newegg doesn't sell the OCv2 anymore. The important thing is that I am looking for is stability and it seems that the most ideal setup would be to get identical cards.
By the way, why are there so many versions (updates?) to this card? Have there been issues related to the card that necessitate a revision?

Different coolers(HS and fans) and possibly different makers of vRAM. But, you should be able to run SLI without issues regardless of the versions.

The Sim Card is only necessary if you plan on using a Cellular connection. In fact if you buy a Wifi only iPad it doesn't even have a slot for a sim card because it has no cellular capabilities.
The Sim card is used to connect a cellular carrier's network (like a mobile/cell phone would) to access the internet anywhere there is cell coverage without the need for a Wifi network being close by.

Can't set up wifi or ethernet connection after clean installing XP

Hi, I recently done a clean install of XP on a friends Toshiba Equim M50-164 PSM57E laptop using instructions from this link.

I am now having extreme difficulty setting up the wifi internet connection, no wireless icon is appearing in the bottom right of screen. I tried downloading Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter 7.7.0.406.2 onto an external drive then transferring it to the Toshiba laptop but still it will not work.
It seems the drivers are not installing properly and are not showing up in Device Manager, nor can I connect to the internet using a usb cable.
Please help as my friend is extremely angry and I am now at a loss what to do.

Can I use the same serial number for master suite when reinstalling after clean install of windows 8

I am reinstalling windows because windows got corupted. I can not access my computer to deactivate the software. Do I need to be worried about not having deactivated it? I will be reinstalling mastersuite 6 after I get windows 8.1 clean installed on the same computer. I just want to make sure I will not have any problems reinstalling and setting up the adobe mastersuite after I have installed windows 8.1. I don't want to have a problem with the serial number still being registered to my old installation of windows that will have been on the same pc.

Your previous activation will still be in the loop, so you should contact Adobe support and ask them to reset your activations. That way you can be sure you have the two your license allows for. You can always skip this if you only activated once before but it will leave you with no extra activation should you find a use for a second installation.

Lenovo Ideacentre K410 won't boot with video card after OS crash and refresh

I purchased a Lenovo Ideacentre K410 from Fry's some time ago. It came with Windows 8. I added a GeForceGTX650. Everything ran fine until yesterday, when the system black-screened in the middle of a Windows 8 update. The update was running from the control panel. After the black screen, I finally got the system to boot again by removing the video card. Even then it said the OS was messed up and offered to refresh it. I allowed it to refresh the OS. Now Windows 8 boots, but not if I put the video card back in. Thanks!

It might be that the Video Card is Bad that caused the Crash,
The system prompt you for a repair since it was not turned OFF properly when the computer Crashed.
Have the GPU Card tested on another computer or try a different GPU on your system.

RS482M4 no s-video output after clean install

I recently installed a new HDD and performed a clean install of XP MCE on my HTPC. I have an MSI RS482M4 #MS-7191-020 mobo with AMD Athlon 64 SB 80GB HDD and XP MCE. I am trying to output to my LG 37" LCD via the s-video and am not able to do so. I have installed (as far as i can tell) all the updates to the bios and drivers but the only output i can get is through RGB not component or s-video.
any suggestions or specific driver updates would be gretly appreciated !

Funny you ask. first, yes it worked (i think) and the component video worked. neither are working right now. I say i think because i also have a TV tuner card with s-video out on it and i cant remember if i used the tuner card or the mobo. is this common or is there a way to set them on or off. I would like to use the tuner card coax input and the compinent out of the mobo. is it a setting in the ATI software. ironically, the ATI software look different (slightly) than it did before the clean install. im not really happy with using rgb out right now....to say the least.

Can not access my Time machine HD after CLEAN install Mountain Lion

Thank you in advance for your interest and help, I really appreciate it.
I recently did a clean Install of Mountain Lion and already did all the updates that appeared. However, before doing these clean install, I did a back up with Time Machine on my external Hard drive. Now I can't access to it, doesn't even appear on my sidebar when I connect it. On the other hand it does appear as connected when I open Disk Utility, but I can not access to it. There I have all my 5 years of University works and classes, photos, and music. This Hard drive is only dedicated for my Mac Backups and nothing more.
I guess that if I install again Snow Leopard, it will work, but I have to re install everything as my Mac is a Mid or Late 2007 15-inch Macbook pro and it came with the OS before the snow leopard 10.5 or something like that.
What can I or should I do to access my Hard Drive again?

Also I want to restore My iLife, but the copy I have from the CD that came with my mac doesn't allow to install it, what can I do.

I had a system crash on my G4 iBook running Leopard. Based on advice given at the Apple store genius bar, I reinstalled Leopard from an install DVD, reformatting the drive. During the system installation process I used my Time Machine backup to reinstall the former users (but nothing else). I then installed my needed applications. So far so good.
Now I'm in the situation where I have an external drive with the Time Machine backup of the pre-crash iBook, and I'm not sure how to proceed. Do I start over and do a new backup (effectively erasing all my pre-restore data)? Or can the old backup still be used, and added to? While losing the pre-restore time machine data would not be a major loss, it would be kind of nice to have.

You didn't want any of your settings, preferences, data, etc.? The +MIgration Assistant+ app will let you do that, for one or more users. And of course, you can use the +Star Wars+ display to restore selected items.

Your next backup will be a full one; everything on your internal HD is considered as changed, so will be backed-up again.
If there's room for that, it will just be a large incremental backup, added to the existing ones.
If not, Time Machine will begin deleting your oldest backups, one by one, trying to make enough room for the new backup (the amount on the internal HD plus 20% for workspace). But it won't delete the latest backup -- if that's the only one left, and there still isn't enough room, the backup will fail.
If there is room, the first backup may appear to be very slow; why is not clear, but as long as it's making progress, let it run. Subsequent ones should be normal.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

You can't downgrade the iOS level.
Try using Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Can I use WiFi and other features without activating phone

I want to find out if I can still use WiFi, connect to the computer, etc without activating actual phone service with Verizon. Basically I plan on getting this phone free with a new contract, but I will continue to use my old phone as the actual active phone. Yes, the Kin TwoM will work on wifi without activating the service. Before activating mine, I was able to use web browsing and email for about a week on wifi. I didn't try out the Zune software until later, though I don't think that would be affected either.
However, I did start getting automated txt msgs from verizon warning that I would be in violation of the 2 year discount/aggrement (and be charged full price of the phone) unless I activated the Kin on my number. I went ahead and activated the Kin at that time.
At present, I could not find anything to that wording in the fine print agreement, and I don't think there would be any problem porting my number back to my old phone, but beware that you may have to activate the Kin once then transfer your number back to your old phone.

This seems to be a problem relatet to the current versions of the app. After uninstalling Spotify I installed an older version, 2.8.0.1081, which worked perfectly with wifi. No newer versions seem to work so I hope there will be a fix soon. I've tried changing the UPnP as well as NAT filtering settings, but the newer versions of the app still wont work.
