Lenovo G550 laptop - red, blue, yellow specks and lines on screen

Hello,
I have a 2 year old Lenovo G550 laptop, system model 20023 ( Dual-Core CPU T4300 2,10Ghz, 3,00GB RAM) running 32-bit Win 7 Home Premium OS with graphic card Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
Month ago, I started getting 2 vertical lines on my screen, which change colors and tend to disappear when I tilt it. Recently, problem graduated to red, blue, yellow specks all over the screen. Tilting no longer works, but I noticed a definite relationship with the degree of pressure on the case. When I push hard enough on the left spot below the case (where hard disk is located), the problem resolves completely. I also tried plugging another monitor in and there seems to be no problem either. Please, help.

Graphic card issue sounded highly unlikely with the external monitor image appearing to be normal. I tried reseating the lcd cable and it fixed the problem.

Lenovo G550 puking rainbow colors in the middle of the screen

Okay, so as the title says -- and, yes, I am serious -- the screen of my sister's Lenovo G550 has vertical stirps of colors grouped in the middle of the screen. the background is somewhat similar to the background color of the usualy Windows 7 start-up. But what scared me when I saw it was the fact that upon pressing the power button, the lenovo start-up screen did not show instead it just looked like an old tv closing down. The thing is, it was fine yesterday when my sister was using it. Then all of a sudden when she opened it this morning, the screen showed that. If it were degenerative, then I guess it might take a while and not so sudden right?

It doesn't. My sister gave me additional information: When she opened it this morning, it was fine then the screen turned white that's when the problem started. A while ago, we removed the battery pack and let it stand for a while. Suddenly, we saw a hazy picture of my sister's screen before it all went crazy. I really don't know what happened. It shouldn't just go crazy without a reason right? I mean, if the lcd were to fail, it would not fail suddenly but instead it would fail over time (my brother's lcd -- same laptop -- has white horizontal streaks on the screen).
Edit: Just tried on an external LCD and it works. It just doesn't work on her laptop's LCD. Do you know why it suddenly konked out?

My MacBook Pro will not start up. I only get a grey screen with the spinning wheel. No blue page appears and the grey screen remains. Tried starting with the Shift key but ineffective as well.

Can't get my MacBook Pro to start up. Have shut it down several times and tried restarting but all I get is a grey screen with the spinning icon. Apple Support online suggested starting with power button followed immediately with the shift key. Same results. Also tried power button with shift key, command, and V. Black screen appeared instead with lots of data language but still no starting. This final page was suppose to result in an internal system check and restart but nothing happened and the black screen remains.Where do I go from here? Scheduled for the Genius Bar tomorrow but would like to resolve this beforehand.

You may be having a hardware problem that you cannot resolve on your own. Nevertheless...
...hold down the command and R keys whilst booting to try to get to your Recovery partition. If you can, use Disk Utility to try to Verify your boot drive (usually named "Macintosh HD" unless you've renamed it). If the verification fails, try to repair your hard drive. If everything appears to be OK, restart.
If you can't get into your Recovery partition, your problem is likely hardware related. If so, keep your appointment and see what the Apple techs have to say.

when I look up something on Google under each link I see red yellow blue colors in safari it's really annoying how do I turn it off

It's hard to tell without a screenshot, but this may be font substitution by a bad font. If you have added fonts to your system with a CYR or SLAV in their name, try removing them.

Yellow Hues and Lines in graphics

Hello, This is a G72-253NR laptop. When displaying graphics (vids, pics and some screens) a yellow hue is evident in the white areas. Also on certain primarily text screens (AOL, etc) there is shading of yellow at the bottom, along with two thin dual lines about 15% in from both sides of the screen. With an external monitor this does not occur. However, when I do a screen rotation (ctrl+alt+arrow keys) this shading/ lines follow the orientation of the page. Sometimes this goes away and comes back with no apparent cause or consistency ie. start up, hibernation, cold or warm, closed/opened, extended run time, etc. Everthing on the screen is otherwise normal. Tapping strategically on the display will not initiate of fix this, nor will flexing the cable. As an electrical engineer I have seen such intermittent problems before. Anyone have an idea as to where to start and/or replace things, aside from the whole **bleep** thing?

Green Squares and Lines Across Screen

Recently there have been a few green squares appearing on my screen at random times. Today more than usual appeared, my computer froze and they would not go away even after restarting three times. I only manged to get rid of them after reinstalling Leopard.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Screen has black/dead pixels and line across screen.

My iphone is still under its one year warranty. I can not recall any drops or it ever being handled roughly, however I have a black/gray blob of dead pixels in the left corner and my screen has a shiny line that looks like a crack of the LCD, however the glass screen is not cracked in any way that I can tell. I think the dead pixels are spreading as well. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know if this is under warranty? I live over an hour and a half from the nearest apple store so I really don't want to take a special trip to see a genius only to find out that I will have to pay $200 to get this fixed. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

If it is still under warranty, they should replace the screen without charging you. The same thing happened to me a few months ago and they replaced it for free. You might have to make the long trip to the store but they shouldn't charge you and it will take about 30 minutes. Call to make an appointment first if you plan to go to the apple store.

Lenovo g550 DVD with yellow flag and out of work

In a Lenovo G550 after installing "Adobe photoshop element" and a "kodak software" the DVD stops working and appears with a yellow flag on device manager.I deinstall and reinstall and everytime the yellow mark reappears.

Laptop Lenovo G550 with win7 shuts down(crash) randomly

My daughter has a new Lenovo G550 laptop.The machine shuts off randomly after boot. I installed on it windows 7 and 5 month everything works fine. I updated all the drivers and also i updated the bios. Laptop keeps shuting down...My daughter says when she plays games or when are too many windows open in internet explorer and torrent open the computer shuts down. She finds out that , when the proccesor is very much in usage( 90-100% ), laptop shuts off. The temperature seems not so high, i don't see any dirt in fan...Also in safe mode it seems that things go normaly. I get a kernel-power error : "The system has rebooted without cleanly down first.This error could be caused if the system stopped responding , crashed or lost power unexpectedly". Also i've installed again OS(windows 7) but the problem keep going on. Should i install another OS, like windows XP ? Or should i install again windows 7 cleanly ( with format the hard disk) and see what it happens? If it is OK i start to update, one by one, drivers and after this shall i try to install some applications(one by one to see if any of it can cause problems) ? Any opinion or help please ! I have the same problem except my lenovo is 3 weeks old! I think it is a software error but I have no idea which software is causing the problem. It is always a booting error that happens when my desk top is already open. I have called the support line three times and I am honestly thinking about getting a mac if this keeps happening. Why can't I use normal software like i-tunes, spotify, microsoft, adobe, and my new external hard-drive without having this problem? It can't be a hardware problem on such a new computer, right?

G550 Laptop Horizontal Lines - Known Issue - On my 2nd After Returning First - Not Feeling Confident

I recently purchased a G550 model laptop -- This laptop has everything I would want in this price range and was pleased to have found it on sale and after a test drive left Fry's Electronics with a smile. When I was walking out, I saw a man bringing back in the same model for a return - I tried my best to ignore that and think positive.
The 2nd day I used it I began to see intermittent white horizontal flicker lines -- sometimes across the majority of screen, always from right to left and then in the very top portion of the screen. It then evolved into a line of white small dashes in the middle of the very top of the screen. Searching the internet, I found many many posts and videos with exactly the same problem or very similar on this same model and others from Lenovo.
I took the time to capture the line flickers with my video camera and decided to return it as it was only used briefly in the 5 days I had it in use. Since the lines were intermittent/random in their appearance times - I had a hard time verifying the defect - luckily the videos and the store manager helped me and offered me a new G550 and extended the return time as if I had bought it on return date (as he should). The man at the return desk actually said "You know you are buying one of our cheaper laptops in the whole store - so what do you expect?" - This was not what I or anybody should hear. If I am spending 300.00 on electronics - it should work as described. I bit my tongue and did not reply as it would not have been a polite response from me.
So now I am running the new G550 that they replaced it with -- funny as certain software is on this one like the Lenovo support software that was NOT on my original purchased laptop.
At the moment, I have app. 10 days left to get a full refund if this machine starts to do the "screen line flickers". However, I am feeling very UNCONFIDENT as I read more and more about this known issue.
Yes, I know the warranty covers this scenario for one year - but nobody wants to ship their laptop back to the manafacturer and wait for repair and or replacement parts.
Is there any known "fixes" for this that will not involve voiding my warranty? --- I understand it is a hardware issue and am watching for the flickers to appear always. Last thing I need -- being on a very low set monthly income - is to lose my 15 day return window and have the flickers appear on day 20.
Can anyone please offer any info/suggestions so that I am not "computing scared" the next 10 days before my return window at Fry's expires?
Shouldnt be feeling nervous after buying new laptops. Other than this issue, I love the feel/size/keyboard and eevrything else on this G550. I dont want it to go bad on me --- but I simply cannot afford to have it turn defective on me 2 weeks from now.

Sorry to hear about your trouble there at the store. AFAIK, flickering issues / vertical lines are commonly caused by either the LCD cable, lcd inverter, or the LCD itself. Not sure if it's a bad batch but kindly check the solutions that were provided on the article above to see what's the best course of action for the issue.
For the warranty coverage, flickering issues are usually covered if it's caused by a faulty lcd part (the lcd cable, inverter, or the lcd itself), I've seen this happen on my laptop (which is a different brand) and the problem lies with the LCD cable. I recommend you contact lenovo for more info on how to go about having the computer serviced under warranty.

Now i can't install Windows xp sp2 . When i try to install, it appears a blue screen, and says to do the chekdisk / f , i did it , but nothing , i cant install xp service pack 2

Lenovo G550 move partition to new HDD (including one key recovery)

Hi guys.
I have a Lenovo G550 laptop.
I am looking to change out the existing stock HDD with a new SSD drive (from what I understand from other Lenovo support services, it is SATA II compatible (see http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/Lenovo-G550-HDD-SATA-I-or-SATA-II/ta-p/692351)...
Firstly. Is it possible to change the stock HDD with an SSD drive? I have a budget of about $100 AUD so it would only be a 60-120gb HDD. Would 60gb be enough (I really only need about 30gb of space on the c: drive), or would I need to look at the 120gb option.
Secondly, is there any way of migrating the entire contents of the existing HDD to the SSD HDD?
I have the ability to connect them both externally, and a spare blank 1TB HDD that I can use in the interim if needs be.
Ultimately I would like the SSD drive to have the one key boot partition and the original Windows on it. I don't mind loosing all my programs and files - I can back them up and install them in my leisure.
To complicate matters, my DVD drive isn't working (but I do have an external DVD drive I may be able to use, even possibly booting from. But not 100% sure if I can boot from it!)
And to further complicate matters, the laptop has recieved quite a bit of use, so the sticker with the product key number has been worm off. Argh!

Just done this with a G770.
Simply back up all the HD with Acronis or something to your 1TB disk. Not sure how you would connect this. USB would be best.
Exchange the laptop HD for the SSD
Boot Acronis with the CD and Restore your backup.
Works fine.
You'll have to check the bios to see if you can boot from Ext DVD.

Lenovo G550 - how can I run three monitors

I've just bought a Lenovo G550 and am running Windows XP Pro on it. So far so good. I'm quite happy with it as I think it represents good value for the money.
I have been able to run two external monitors on my G550 laptop - using the VGA port and the HDMI port. But I can't get my laptop monitor to work to make it a third monitor. Has anyone had any success with this and if so how did you do it.

Assuming, for the purposes of discussion, that the application allows you to display six windows, one for each stock, then if you were to use two 27" monitors, would the six windows properly arranged in the two monitors be sufficiently large to serve your purpose? Your active window areas would be on the order of 900x500 pixels, assuming one of the plentiful 1920x1080 monitors.
