Lenovo g555 BIOS Corruption

Tried to turn on my Lenovo G555 this morning,  but all i got was the sound of the cpu fan for about 3 seconds and no display.
From reading this forum i suspect the problem is with the CMOS and BIOS. I believe if i could reset the cmos the laptop would boot up. Any Suggestions ???
P.S I have tried removing all hardware  ie. Ram, Hdd, Wlan card ect...

Hi robzombie24,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,
Am sorry to hear about the issue that you’re facing,
And I’d like to advise you to turn off the machine and connect the charger and unplug the battery,
Then please press and hold on the power button for 10 seconds and after that you can plug in in the battery and turn on the machine and then check the display,
If still the same please connect an external monitor back and check the display on the external monitor. (FN+F3 to change the display to the external monitor)
Hope the information helps. Let us know.
Regards
Soha

  • Lenovo G555 0873 Insyde BIOS before NAWA1110.exe

    Hi,
I've got a Lenovo G555 - 2gb - AMD M320 cpu - HD4200 gfx - 500gb and was wondering if there were any savvy owners (unlike me) who figured out how to backup their BIOS before upgrading it.  I upgraded the BIOS, and crashes became unbearable, recovery attempts fail with blue screen or justs hangs after progress bar in the beginning.  I even tried installing fresh with new windows 7 disks which also failed, either blue screen during start.  The funny thing is hirens windows mini-xp works without a problem, and can run memory diagnostics all night (no problems reported, by the way)
I believe it may be because it doesn't load drivers  and/or  rely on advance hardware features that normal operating systems check for.  I must add even linux fails soon after/during checking of PCI  features since you can see linux boot process in text form.
Sorry to throw out a lot of assumptions but if anyone does have a copy of the BIOS before the one listed on Lenovo website it would be worth trying.  (can I even flash in windows in a windows live CD?)
    Thanks for any technical advise,
(I did phone lenovo tech support who were friendly enough but said older BIOS versions are not available)
    # UPDATE
    # Sent the computer back under warranty and they replaced the processor.
    # Everything has been working has normal since then.
    # I am now a happy bunny.

  • G555 Bios problem

Hi, today I bought Lenovo g555
after installing windows XP, I have installed all the drivers from lenovo site, and everything was ok, but then i realised that there is new bios for my laptop. when i flashed the bios my ati card was not recognized any more. i tried to reinstall the driver but nothing happens. My original bios was ( 2cec19ww (v1.06 ), and the new one is 2ccn21ww(v1.10).
I dont know what to do now, should i somehow clear the cmos and how? or can i find old bios firmware and where ?
    Please help

I just don't understand why people update the BIOS when they do not have an issue. I have NEVER updated any of my PC's BIOS. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

  • Cannot boot....BIOS Corrupted ?

I have a lenovo 3000 Q, machine type 10003 Model Number 57054161 S/N SSxxxxxxxx M701W07, previously I change the motherboard and when it boot up it has this message invalid cpu serial number and error 00 something, but pressing enter to continue boot seem ok. But now I cannot boot the pc and cannot enter BIOS setup.
After the message usually I just press enter to continue, and it will boot up. Now it seem to stuck forever. Even pressing F1 to go to the BIOS also stuck at entering setup forever. Is the BIOS corrupted? I try to clear the BIOS by jumper pin, did not solved the problem. Searching for BIOS update / firmware for this type of PC on all over the internet did not find any BIOS firmware. It quite difficult to get info for this PC type with all the jumble up info at IBM and lenovo site.
Is there anyway to get this PC alive again ?
Moderator Note; s/n edited for members own protection

Already done that , I take out the battery for more than 3 days, and jump the clear CMOS jumper, but still when pressing F1, it stuck at Entering setup.
More detail on the boot up.
It come up with the ThinkCenter logo, Intel and Phoneix logo, then
ERROR 00CE Machine Type and Serial Number are Invalid!
Update the BIOS to correct this problem
    System is starting
(To interrupt normal startup, press ENTER)
-- Usually this will boot up to the operating system, but not it stuck forever.
-- Pressing ESC will bring the boot up screen. It shows the :-
    Phoenix TrustedCore(tm)  Desktop SP2 for ThinkCenter.U
    Copyright......
    Lenovo Copyright.....
    CPU Information
    RAM Infromation
    L2 cache info
There is no info regarding the hard disk or the cdrom drive although both of them are there and connected.
At the lower leff bottom stated Press F1 for Setup
Pressing F1 will change it to Entering Setup..... and stuck there forever.
Is there any way to fixed this ? Can I update the bios for this PC ? If can how, coz I cannot access the OS and where in the world that I can get the current BIOS for this PC, searching on the intenet did not found one. and to change the motherboard
is like buying a new computer.
Is there a reason that the boot up sequence did not detect the hard disk and the cdrom. the hard disk is sata 500GB and the cdrom is an ide cdrom that come with the PC.
Hopefully someone can shade a light on this problem.
    Rgds

    Hello,
is it possible to connect a usb 3.0 ExpressCard to my Lenovo G555?
    thank you!

    hi giordan31,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Yes it's possible to connect a USB 3.0 ExpressCard adapter if you have the G555 with expresscard slot. You may also want to check this review  as it list PRO's and CON's of using this type of adapter.
    Best regards,

  • Kernel doesn't log ACPI events: ACPI module or Bios corruptions

Well, this is very strange and i dunno where to look at to solve this:
My new NP530U3C (Samusung ultrabook)is running Arch and i'm currently using acpid to trigger the acpi events couse i have no DE (fluxbox).
I can't understand the way my kernel and acpid log the LID event:
    Kernel.log
    Oct 6 20:06:46 localhost kernel: [ 2.105259] ACPI: Lid Switch [LID0]
    Oct 6 20:44:31 localhost kernel: [ 2.111136] ACPI: Lid Switch [LID0]

Oct 6 23:33:48 localhost logger: LID opened
When i close the lid, i have to wait 10 sec approx to trigger the LID close event and start the suspend action!
on wakeup i don't know because my samsung can wakeup only with the power button (no lid in wakeup events).
    So somebody can enlighten me?
    *EDIT <-----
I can summarize it is a corruption of the Bios/ACPI module that affect this laptop after a certain suspentions circle (I mean not every first suspentions).
I would like to debug in a better way but i have no instruments to investigate:
If someone can point me to a way to debug this stuff like Bios corruptions and/or Kernel module failure...
    Any advide is appreciated

well, is a samsung ultrabook! i'm doing some m ore tests and still 10 sec delayed!
    a note:
when the kernel log the LID state i can suspend instantly after i really close the LID.
after a reboot, and halt/start thigs doesn't changes....
The kernel logger resume after some reboots or *resetting* (using a needle to click a button above the laptop close to the battery) the laptop <-- this method was whrote somewhere and i tried it, and solved sometinms the issue for 2/3 days.
is starnge because it appears without any regularity, but i'm not so pro and is difficult for me to figure out what can trigger the event!
    EDIT
    Oct 7 00:21:58 localhost kernel: [ 686.653890] psmouse serio1: Touchpad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 6
    Oct 7 00:21:59 localhost kernel: [ 686.668774] psmouse serio1: Touchpad at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynced.
dunno if is important, but after a resume from suspend, i got this messege. i thought it was only after it (like a little error in the resume hooks) but no i'm noticing it in  the messages.log every how

    Hi,
HP notebook computers have an emergency BIOS recovery feature that allows you to recover and install the last known good version of the BIOS from the hard drive, as long as the hard drive remains functional.
Try restoring BIOS using instructons in this HP web document. You have to strictly follow it to elicit a positive response. The timings are of utmost importance and you've keep on trying many times.
If that didn't work, try recovering the notebook BIOS using an external storage device (USB key) as mentioned in the doucment ...
The latest HP UEFI BIOS Update SoftPAQ is sp69886.exe .  Run the installer and create a USB key as per instructions from another PC.
(This package contains the WinFlash utility and a system BIOS image for the supported notebook model running a supported operating system. The WinFlash utility is used to locally flash the system BIOS (ROM) on notebooks operating in a Microsoft Windows environment.)
Previous version of HP UEFI BIOS Update SoftPAQ sp66941.exe ,  is also available. You can try with this if latest one don't work out.
Note: Keep the laptop plugged in with AC adapter to Power supply during the whole process.
If the above methos doesn't work, please Contact HP in your region or local computer service center for further help in this regard.

  • Bios Corruption fix

I need help with my notebook because I have the bios corruption and windows + b solution doesn't work. Please help. My laptop is a HP g61

    Hi RaphalDG:
Thank you for your inquiry.  I am pleased to aid in this endeavor!
I understand that you are receiving a corrupt bios message. Here is a link to HP BIOS Application Selected is Corrupt or Missing click here.  When you enter the Bios, do you see a roll back option, if so, you can  use it, to take it back to before the corruption.  Here is the HP Support Assistant for Windows  8  click here. as the version in the document is for Windows 7 and below.  If this fails for any reason you could look at doing and Windows restore or an HP recovery to get back up and running. Here is a link to a page that has links for both options click here.  I hope this helps,

  • Bios corruption

After a BIOS update from HP, the laptop will not start. Because the PC is out of warranty, HP wants to charge to repair it. HP's update created the problem! That's a scam! There is supposed to be a way to recover bios from a backup and it does not work. I am a tech of 31 years and I have never seen such a money scam as this company is running. All my cistomers will surely know about this!
Beware of the terrible service from HP.

Try disconnecting everything that is not necessary such as the hard disk and DVD drive (disconnect the SATA cable) and any usb device connected to the PC.
    What happens now?
If it does not boot up then there is indeed a BIOS corruption issue.
There are companies that can program BIOS chips if you provide a new eeprom chip and BIOS file. I see that your locale is Aurtralia/New Zealand. You should be able to find a BIOS rescue company online  that can help you.
Otherwise, replacement of the motherboard with an identical one would be the simplest solution. Is is unfortunate that your PC is out of warranty.

  • Lenovo G555 will only start 1 in 10 times

    Good day all
I have a Lenovo G555 that will only start about 1 in every 10 attempts and is slowly getting worse.
When it does come on, it seems like I have to hold the power button for 15 seconds and when I release it - and if I'm lucky - it may start.
Does anyone have some ideas on what the cause might be? When it does turn on, are there some diagnostics that I can run to pin point the problem.

    Hi Andrew,
I’m sorry to hear that the issue persists even after performing Flee-Power troubleshooting step in your G555, the only available option to check the issue is to turn ON the Laptop using AC Adapter only without the Battery connected and if the issue persists, performing OSRI (Operating System Re-Install) will confirm that the issue is Hardware related.
To perform OSRI click on OKR (One Key Recovery) button in the computer, below is the link to download the User Guide for the steps to perform OSRI and refer page no. 1 to locate the OKR button and page no. 22 for the steps to perform OKR.
NOTE: Please backup the data in the computer before performing OSRI, as the data will be completely erased.
    Lenovo G555 User Guide
    Hope this helps!!!
Do post us back if the issue still persists.
    Best Regards

  • Pavillion DV6 2020sa bios corrupt, wont take recovery. please help.

hi, thanks to anyone that has any input on this problem its much appriciated,
I am looking at my brothers laptop, pavillion DV6 2020sa he had a virus lock the screen, he held the power button to switch it off, upon reboot he gets the blank screen and flashing leds (2 flashes) upon lookin up it says bios corrupt, i have downloaded the bios from HP tis 3635.bin and have put in on a USB drive, the sticker under the battery also says 3635, so im confident i have the right one.
I then hold the win + B button and then power, it starts, and shortly after the USB stick light up and flashes, then stops, then flashes again, at that point i get 6 beeps, then silence, then i get 5 slow beeps, i have read this is meant to happen, but then its meant to resart, and this is the bit that dont happen, it dont do anything, when i restart it, it just does the same flashing lights.
am i doing something wrong, or something im missing.
    Thanks again for any help.
    Jamie.

You will need an eeprom programmer to reprogram a new BIOS chip with a fresh BIOS file. It takes a special hot air tool to successsfully remove and replace a notebook BIOS chip. This is not just normal soldering. This is what real electronics technicians and workers at an electronics R&D lab and workers on the assembly line at manufacturer do. Unless you just happen to be an electronics enthusiast or engineer, and I am guessing you are not since you asked these questions, this may be out of your league. If you feel adventurous and have  your brother's permission to use his notebook as a guinea pig...go for it! It is not as easy as the guy in the video made it look. He is a trained technician and  does it for a living.

  • Lenovo G555 battery

    Yo, y'all!
New register here. I bought a Lenovo G555 a few days ago, and I'm considering buying a back-up battery for it. But I have some trouble finding any store or site that sells them here in Sweden. Or rather, I have trouble finding anyone who sells batteries specifically for the G555. So, I'm wondering, is there any other Lenovo laptop model with the same type of battery as the G555, which I can buy to use in my laptop?
    Thanks in advance!
