Lenovo G580 print screen

Hello,
I have the Lenovo G580 running Windows 8 I need to take a screen grab on an app. How do I do this? I can't seem to use snipping tool whislt running the app. Where is the print screen key, that's if there is one? Or is there another way to do so?
Thanks in advance
Isaac

Hi lindzee, You will find the print screen key just after the F keys, You will see this on the key (PrtSc) short for print screen.

    Dear Lenovo community,
I bought a new Lenovo G580 last week, but dropbox causes the system to crash (Blue Screen).
Windows gives the following error codes:
    ffff8a00b9ffa0a
    000000000000
    ffff80003092be1
    000000000000
I found a previous post on this forum with the problem (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-and-Essential/Lenovo-G580-BSOD-problems-with-certain-applica... but there was no solution back then.
Any Ideas on how to solve this?
    Kind Regards
    Koen

Not sure if this helps, but I did a memtest with this program:
    http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html
And it claims "Could not allocate 4095 MB".
This would imply mij memory chips are failing right? So this is a hardware problem?

    Hi Poornima,
    Welcome to Lenovo forums
As I understand that you are facing issue with laptop physically missing print screen button in your G560 laptop.
As you are looking for an alternative option, I would suggest you use snipping tool for taking screen shots.
This snipping tool is available in windows 7, to access snipping tool  go to search and type snipping tool, then the tool appears.
    Hope this helps!

  • Bright spot on Lenovo G580(2689) screen

I have Lenovo G580(2689). It was bought about 8 months ago. recently i found that there is a small  bright spot at the lower righy part of the screen. What could be the reason and  How to get rid of that? I have 4 months warranty due. Plz help me.

    hi firozmkhatri,
Usually, bright spots on the LCD screen may have caused by a hard object pressing at the back part of the LCD screen (same thing when you press and hold on the lcd panel using your fingertip) or an object in between the LCD and keyboard when the lid is closed.
In some rare cases, it may have caused by a bright light concentrating on lcd panel (this could happen if you leave the unit open in front of a window where sunlight is concentrated) or it could also be that the screws are too tight on the LCD assembly that's causing the backlight to bleed.
Although you can still use the computer normally, the bright spot may increase overtime. I recommend you contact lenovo to report the issue and how to go about fixing the bright spots.
    Hope this helps.

  • My New Lenovo G580 - Blue Screen Error

    Hi,
    I have bought a new lenovo G580 (Intel B950/2GB/500GB) with DOS (on Friday - 21 Spetember, 2012).
I have installed another 2GB RAM in the extra slot. So, I have a total of 2+2 GB RAM now.
I installed Windows7 in it. It has worked fine for 1 day, but when I installed the G580 bluetooth, wifi drivers, it started crashing with bluescreen creating a dump file. Now I am even unable to start the system. I have formatted the system twice by could not trace it out. I have seen other forums and found out that it is due to some dropbox issues etc., But I have not installed even 1 software. As soon as I installed windows7, I started with the drivers (Drivers DVD came along with my laptop)
    Please help me.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sudheer K

    Go to Solution.

    Hi Sudheer,
If you are able to open windows go to
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools and select the last option to "generate system health report" .If something is wrong with the system or a service windows will flag it for you. If you are not able to open windows and try opening it in the safe mode(press F8 during startup) check for the same.
Also try opening windows in a clean state
In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.
Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
    Click the Services tab.
Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable All, and then click OK.
When you are prompted, click Restart.
If this does not cause a BSOD then I would suspect there is a driver conflict/compatiablity in your system. Can you provide the exact error in the BSOD which you see?
    Hope this helps
    Cheers and regards,

  • Lenovo G580 displays white screen when turned on

    Hello Team,
My Lenovo G580 is turning white on start. It was working fine, suddenly it flashed a white screen.
In a particular spot a black patch is developing and gets heated up.
    I did
-remove the battery, holded the power button for 30 secs and then turned on with battery.
    But it did not help.
Please help me with the issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi Harsha_28,
    Welcome to the Forums.
If the black patch is similar to the picture below then the issue is most likely with the LCD assembly  - possibly dead pixels (you can verify this by connecting an external monitor via the VGA port).
If you're in India, I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue.

  • Lenovo G580 boot menu is not working when pressing F2 and F12 key

QuestionI bought a new Lenovo G580 series laptop. After installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit edition, a problem revealed when Lenovo driver get installed.
When I installed Intel HD 3000 graphics driver and restarted laptop, the Window was unable to start normally. It displayed an error, so a recovery program started which was recommended. But this program failed to resolve the problem. Later, I tried again to load Windows normally but the blue screen fatal error showed up.
I attempted to reinstall Windows again, but after restarting window, the boot menu was not showing up after pressing F12 key. F2 key was also not working either.
I spoke to a Lenovo techincal assistance expert and they suggested me to remove battery and charger and press start key for 30 seconds.
My problem still remains the same, and I am unable to access boot menu.
The bios version is  62cn34ww. ls there a way I can get this running again?
AnswerPlease take note that the suggestion below is just a troubleshooting guide. If the steps could not fix the issue, you need to send you machine in for service for further assistance.
Try removing the hard disk , then press F2 button to enter BIOS
If you are successful in entering the bios, pleaes load set up defaults
Save setting by pressing F10 and shut the machine down
Connect the hard drive back and check if can enter BIOS via F2 and F12 to see boot menu

  • Error related to EFI system..unable to install windows 7 64-bit on lenovo g580..

    Hi,
I have Lenovo g580 which had DOS preinstalled in it {i5, 500GB, 4GB} and initially I had installed Win 7 32-bit on it. At that time, it gave some problem while rebooting 1st time, but i ran repair windows option and everything ran smoothly.
But the problem came when I tried to install windows 7 64-bit on the laptop using a DVD, no matter which drive I select, it does not allow me to go ahead. When I checked the details, I got the error message which is attached here.

There is no disk controller option in BIOS, nor is there anything related tto UEFI systems.
i did r&d on uefi systems, but i want to be sure of everything before i go ahead with anything.
     Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for no help guyz!
but i found a way..so for anybody else out there..here is the solution..
When installing at the partition screen hit Shift+F10.
At the prompt type diskpart and press Enter.
Type list disk (Not the number of the disk you want to use)
Type select disk X where is X is the number of the disk you want to use.
Type clean. This will erase all the data on your system.
    Type convert gpt
Now reboot the system with the DVD/USB, and you will see only Unallocated Space. Use that to install the new windows.
Be warned though, this will clear out the partition table on the drive; make sure you have a backup before attempting this if you have important data

  • Print Screen key missing

Hello, as you know Lenovo´s design team has decided to remove the "infamous" 3 windows keys that almost nobody used... sorry but I was a daily user of the Print screen key to get screen captures pasted to my documents and presentations, if you have ever used office´s onenote you know how useful is this simple application. To my surprise with the printscreen key removal the application to gather screen clippins has gone too, what weird pundit thought this was useless? Could you suggestme  a shortcut to this operation... some simple one please!
I won´t like to have to open a new application, use some keys combination to select the screen portion, copy and paste to the application board, save as an image file, go to your document and insert the saved file... oh my god! all this for the sake of simple design!)
You Know Mark I am a loyal Thinkpad user, always open to innovation and I like The Edge´s concept so much  that I bought one a month ago, but don´t you think you have gone too far?. I get almost crazy when I don´t know if my disk is working or the system has stalled because there isn´t a LED to indicate disk activity. Battery charged? you must boot your notebook and watch the screen indicator, same for bluetooth and wi-fi. How to configure trackpoint and touch pad? there is no any help in any place.
You certainly did an extraordinary design work with the keyboard, trackpoint and touchpad, and some Thinkvantage applications present, but we feel you felt short behind possible perfection with the lack of such minimum details... take a look at Thinkpadsforum of Bill Morrow to sense the controversy.
A last question, why didn´t you use the case design concept of the X100e. A nice departure from the black box, a nice red box. By the way... without the silver trimmings that bears our Edge cafeteria´s tray as resembled to some English computer reviewer .

    hi,
i agree with u that , changes about fn function annoying , i also surprised when i cloudnt see PrintScreen on F keys , but then i saw there s PrtSc  on right down side between AltGr - Ctrl
and it s also bad there s no indicator lights , at least there must be on power button  , to see cpu usage etc.  it s very simple thing  , i couldnt see any reason not to put that lights ...
