    Hi Amit,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your G580 Laptop is not booting to Windows after updating the BIOS, I suggest you to Access the BIOS and change the “SATA Controller mode” to resolve the issue, below are the steps to change the settings:
To enter BIOS setup utility, press F2 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen while the computer is starting up.
Now under “Configuration” Tab click on SATA controller mode and change the option to “Compatible”.
Now press “F10” Key then YES to save the changes made in BIOS.
The computer will automatically re-start, check the issue.
Do post us back if the issue still persists.
    Best Regards

  • BIOS mode-UEFI or Legacy in Lenovo G580?

I have lenovo g580. in bios setup under boot tab, it says UEFI boot 'Enabled'. but when i go to cmd and type 'msinfo32', it says my system has LEGACY bios mode. what actually is it? if i have UEFI mode enabled, why it shows legacy in msinfo32? please help........

    hi firozmkhatri,
According to this FAQ, the UEFI BIOS has to emulate legacy BIOS so that existing applications aren't broken (this means 32bit programs since UEFI only works with 64bit versions of Windows). If you have UEFI enabled under BIOS and see it's saying Legacy under msinfo32, you probably have a Windows 7 system installed on legacy mode as the Lenovo G580 supports UEFI with an emulated Legacy.support.
To check if you have Windows installed on UEFI (GPT) or Legacy mode (MBR), check your drive volume:
    1. Click Start, right-click Computer and then click Manage
    2. On the Computer Management window, choose Disk Managemment
    3. Right click on any of the Disk (i.e. Disk 1), choose Properties and on the Volumes tab, see Partition Style
    Windows with MBR Partition:

  • Lenovo g580 2189 driver install problem

    I have a lenovo g580 with windows 8
when i try to install drivers i get some errors, any driver with other error:
smart audio hd with dolby-  failure with non reason'
    tuchpad ealn....-"ask for dspint package"
i download all the drivers from lenovo official web and i have energy mangement for windows 8
one more problem is in "fn" function,i dont see any fn function in the screen (no wifi,bluetooth,tuchpad,camera....)
only music. when i touch fn+f5 to turn off/on wifi the system shows on "airplane mode".
    thanks

finally did it!!!! i had the same problem and now it works!
you first install the driver, and will tell no driver found ..., then go in C:\drivers\Bluetooth Driver (CyberTan, Liteon)\Broadcom\Win64   and execute Inst.exe and let it install all what it needs, don't press anything. if it still not works try install the same exe after activating bt with fn+f5.
win64 is for the one who have 64bit and I think that win32 will work for the one who have 32bit.
le: I have win7, i think it works the same for win8.. try it..
le2: and something else, I disabled UEFI from bios. I don't know if this is important, but it works for me with UEFI disabled.

  • Lenovo G580 boot menu is not working when pressing F2 and F12 key

QuestionI bought a new Lenovo G580 series laptop. After installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit edition, a problem revealed when Lenovo driver get installed.
When I installed Intel HD 3000 graphics driver and restarted laptop, the Window was unable to start normally. It displayed an error, so a recovery program started which was recommended. But this program failed to resolve the problem. Later, I tried again to load Windows normally but the blue screen fatal error showed up.
I attempted to reinstall Windows again, but after restarting window, the boot menu was not showing up after pressing F12 key. F2 key was also not working either.
I spoke to a Lenovo techincal assistance expert and they suggested me to remove battery and charger and press start key for 30 seconds.
My problem still remains the same, and I am unable to access boot menu.
The bios version is  62cn34ww. ls there a way I can get this running again?
AnswerPlease take note that the suggestion below is just a troubleshooting guide. If the steps could not fix the issue, you need to send you machine in for service for further assistance.
Try removing the hard disk , then press F2 button to enter BIOS
If you are successful in entering the bios, pleaes load set up defaults
Save setting by pressing F10 and shut the machine down
Connect the hard drive back and check if can enter BIOS via F2 and F12 to see boot menu

"OK, I will retain my sanity.... changed & of course forgot windows 7 password on my Lenovo H430 desktop. (about a month ago) came accross my windows disc & was going to see if I could boot from it (wouldn't from the pasword unlocker i downloaded) Anyhow, i evidently have a password to enter bois setup which i attempted to "guess"  baaad idea.  i am now looking at Fatal Error.....System halted on my Lenovo H430 desktop.   how do i proceed without doing any damage???    HELP...

  • Error related to EFI system..unable to install windows 7 64-bit on lenovo g580..

    Hi,
I have Lenovo g580 which had DOS preinstalled in it {i5, 500GB, 4GB} and initially I had installed Win 7 32-bit on it. At that time, it gave some problem while rebooting 1st time, but i ran repair windows option and everything ran smoothly.
But the problem came when I tried to install windows 7 64-bit on the laptop using a DVD, no matter which drive I select, it does not allow me to go ahead. When I checked the details, I got the error message which is attached here.
    Link to image
There is no disk controller option in BIOS, nor is there anything related tto UEFI systems.
i did r&d on uefi systems, but i want to be sure of everything before i go ahead with anything.
     Any help would be appreciated.

    Go to Solution.

    Thanks for no help guyz!
but i found a way..so for anybody else out there..here is the solution..
When installing at the partition screen hit Shift+F10.
At the prompt type diskpart and press Enter.
Type list disk (Not the number of the disk you want to use)
Type select disk X where is X is the number of the disk you want to use.
Type clean. This will erase all the data on your system.
    Type convert gpt
Now reboot the system with the DVD/USB, and you will see only Unallocated Space. Use that to install the new windows.
Be warned though, this will clear out the partition table on the drive; make sure you have a backup before attempting this if you have important data

Hey mate the keys are faulty nothing can fix it except for buying a new Replacement! , i fixed the problem simply by Replacing the KEYBOARD !  i went downtown and looked for a g580 keyboard and they didnt exactly have the same version g580 they had c or b580 i dont remmber what letter it was sorry ! but the thing is the whole keyboard layout of many Lenovo Laptops are the same just look one thats the same, cause mine wasnt for G580 but the thing is its still working perfectly ! only problem is the Screws didnt fit i had to cut out the sides of the screw hole thingies to make the keyboard fit in well in my G580 , Simply put all you need is a new keyboard replacement buy one they cost between 20-40$ worth it cause you wont have any faulty keys anymore evrything will work fine. no need to reinstall anything just replace it with new Keyboard. and Plus its easy to replace it by yourself. i replaced mine by myself easily. • My New Lenovo G580 - Blue Screen Error

    Hi,
    I have bought a new lenovo G580 (Intel B950/2GB/500GB) with DOS (on Friday - 21 Spetember, 2012).
I have installed another 2GB RAM in the extra slot. So, I have a total of 2+2 GB RAM now.
I installed Windows7 in it. It has worked fine for 1 day, but when I installed the G580 bluetooth, wifi drivers, it started crashing with bluescreen creating a dump file. Now I am even unable to start the system. I have formatted the system twice by could not trace it out. I have seen other forums and found out that it is due to some dropbox issues etc., But I have not installed even 1 software. As soon as I installed windows7, I started with the drivers (Drivers DVD came along with my laptop)
    Please help me.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Sudheer,
If you are able to open windows go to
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Performance Information and Tools\Advanced Tools and select the last option to "generate system health report" .If something is wrong with the system or a service windows will flag it for you. If you are not able to open windows and try opening it in the safe mode(press F8 during startup) check for the same.
Also try opening windows in a clean state
In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.
Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
    Click the Services tab.
Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable All, and then click OK.
When you are prompted, click Restart.
If this does not cause a BSOD then I would suspect there is a driver conflict/compatiablity in your system. Can you provide the exact error in the BSOD which you see?
    Hope this helps

  • Lenovo G580 - WIndows 8 - Resizing OS partition & problems with system recovery

    Hello Everybody,
Just bought a Lenovo G580 notebook with pre installed Windows 8 (500gb harddisk, 4 gb RAM, Intel B960).I have been using Easeus partition manager with Windows 7 & its been working very well.So I wanted to partition my new HDD with it.Upon creating the a new 100gb partition (most importantly from OS partition that was about 428 gb) a very strange thing happened. The Refresh/Reset functions of WIndows 8 stopped working saying required recovery files are missing, also Lenovo One Key recovery program does not work with the message that required service partition is currently unavailable. At the same time, apparently  partition called Windows recovery  (1000 mb, hidden) still exists. One more peculiar thing I noticed & that is there is a new 1mb unallocated partition before the Windows recovery partition. While partitioning I did not receive any message about deleting of any data. One last piece of information (not sure if relevant) is before doing partition I had created a system image that I am unable to restore, Windows 8 repair function recognises the image bit is unable to restore it.
Any ideas how to restore the System Recovery functions or how to restore the system image.
    Thanks
    Petr

  • Lenovo G580

Couldn't find the right spot to post this question, looks like there's no subforum for G model laptops...
I'm in Portugal and a friend of mine gave me a Lenovo laptop he brought from Sth Africa it came with Windows 8 installed in english so I tried install it my Windows 7 in portuguese.
Firstly I was unable to reach WEFI options to boot from DVD so I removed the hard drive and formated it in other computer (my desktop), then connected again the hard drive into Lenovo G580 and now nothing happens just a permanent black screen.
Using Lenovo one key recovery key to turn on laptop it brings me to a boot menu with four options ("boot menu / recovery/ normal startup and other I can't recall) but watever option I choose nothing happens, just a permanent black screen.
How can I turn on the laptop?
I tried instaling windows in the hard drive with other computer but it doesn't detect any SO, happens the same... a black scrreen.

    hi Gyz,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Well, The forma that you did on the HDD could have Deleted the Lenovo Recovery Partition that is needed in recovering the system to its Original Image.
Do you have an Windows OS Installation disk?
Also when you turn on the computer and start hitting F2, does it boot to the UEFI?
