Hi. A have G580 6Gb RAM & GeForce 610(2Gb)  AND Intel Video Graphic Card 4000series(inbuild to i3 CPU) which stolen about 2Gb of onboard RAM. So, 1-st question is: HOW TO DECREASE THIS VALUE TO 256Mb or LOWER??? In BIOS this option is absent!
2-nd question: After upgrading my Win8 on to Win8.1 the laptop NOT POWERING DOWN NORMALLY! Windows sart shutting down as usual, screen, USB and maybe HDD is powering off, but CPU cooler is proceeding to work and power-led is lighting. If leave it for a long time in this state, - laptop will reboot & boot OS again. Looks like good old Windows 95\98 is back "It's now safe to turn off your computer"
3-rd question: In wifi networks list i can not see if network protected or not. How can i fix it???
4-th question: Windows (8 & 8.1) starts TOOOOOOOOO LOOOOOOONG! In power management options qouck boot option is absent!
TNX alot!
Sorry for my EnGliSh

Very "userfull" forum...
But I found the answer!!!! Kill 8.1, than instal win7, & enjoy!!!
Have a nice DaY!

  • Video Ram Error Detected Question

Had my screen lock up and when I ran Apple Hardware Test I received a VIDEO RAM ERROR DETECTED - Error code 2NYD/1/4:2122
Scrolling is all messed up, tried reinstalling system software but nothing seems to help. Only starts after quite a few tries.
Do I need to take in for service or is there a software fix?

    Welcome to the discussions Eugene.
If I were you, I'd take it in for service. It sounds like a hardware problem that a software update won't fix.
I hope it works out for you.

Sorry to hear about the issues your facing. Hope i can assist. Base from you post you may need to go to the BIOS and Check if the  Graphics has been set correctly. The Bios is able to set the machine to using the HD GPU or the NVDIA GPU or both simultaneously.
Also please try the latest drivers available on Support site, Please give them a try

  • Lenovo G580 2nd Ram slot broken

My laptop was preinstalled with 4gb and recently I brought a new 4gb ram to add to the computer but as I inserted it in the 2nd slot it still detects it as 4gb. I tried numerous times and also tried swapping them to find out and I know it isn't the new ram because Windows detects it on 1st slot but it's only when I put a ram in the 2nd slot that it has errors. My Windows is 64 bit so it should be able to use more memory. I don't know whether it could be the snap-in or something is wrong with the memory in the hardware. Could I get this fixed from a store or some remedy to get it to read?

    Solved!

Nevermind everyone. I feel so stupid right now. Turns out after hours of messing around with the ram slot I forgot that I needed to actually push down the ram into the slot rather than just inserting into place. I solved the problem myself so it turns out it wasn't a bad slot after all.

  • Maximum Number of RAM Slots - Lenovo G580

    Hi,
So the Lenovo G580 solution center claims the MAX support is 32gb, 4 slots 1 in use. Leaving 3 available. So I bought 8gb 2*4gB from Crucial. Should arrive today or tomorrow.
Anyway, Crucial scanner - I didn't notice before - claims that my laptop can only support 16gb.. and the available slots are 16gB.
Not sure if this is a joke or something as I could have just bought a single 8gb RAM stick.  I checked the G580 manual and it appears to only have 2 slots. So is Lenovo's Solution center software buggy (or was it made for a desktop - that could explain it)?
Or can anyone confirm that my laptop does indeed support 32gb. I would like to think so, it'd be rather wrong if a third party software is more correct than Lenovo's software.   Specs
    Lenovo G580
    i3 2570 M750gb HDD4gb RAM
    Thanks.

You can easily open the bottom and look... to verify only two slots.Download little Speccy program www.speccy.com   simple .. it will show you whats there. Processor says 16gb  http://ark.intel.com/products/53442/Intel-Core-i3-2370M-Processor-3M-Cache-2_40-GHz crucial will have the right info .. always.. in my experiences.you cant install 8gb and 4gb,  you need to match chip sizes on the memory cards that will pair up to effectively double the chip size via  the bus/wires and give you dual channel memory then.    If you came with only one memory module installed youre running single channel now.  half the potential bandwidth of like 10gb/s   where dual will be 20gb/s. Crucial should let you return your order for exchange.. and add some money for a pair of 8gb.

  • Video Ram Questions

Ok, so obviously the Blueberry iBook Clamshell has only 4 MB of video ram in the logic board. This is clearly preventing almost any video playback, preventing iTunes movie preview/viewing, and eliminating the need for upgrading to a Combo drive, as DVD playback is impossible.
I know that the later model iBooks have logic boards that will play DVD movies, thanks to their increased video ram. It doesn't make much sense for me to replace the logic board with one out of a Indigo or Key Lime iBook, although if I find a working logic board for dirt cheap......it MAY be feasible.....
Is there ANY WAY POSSIBLE to (maybe via software...) allow the video chip to SHARE some of the system RAM to increase the video ram somehow, and expand the capabilities of the displays on these models? Or is there some sort of hardware method to increase video ram on the logic board?

    No and no.

  • Lenovo G580 - Beep Code (Problem)

    Hello.
I have problem with my laptop Lenovo G580.
I buy this laptop 3 months ago without systems. I have system Win 7 32-bit and 64-bit.
Now i ahve problems with laptops and warranty service.
Laptop turns on normally sometimes and sometimes not. ( If problems shows, i cut the power off, remove battery wait for few sec, and turn on, sometimes i must do it 3 times)
It often happens that the computer will not boot just beeps.
The video below, also sometimes blink window.
    Link 1: http://youtu.be/e_fbWrL0ZHs
    Link 2: http://youtu.be/woviKyV7JdI
I thought that it is the fault of the firmware so I reinstalled Windows from 64-bit to 32-bit. It did not work. Flashing window appeared even when installing on a clean drive( second link, window blink on the beginning video), so I think it is rather not the fault of the firmware just the laptop PC hardware.
I sent the laptop with cinematics to warranty service and wrote back to me that "after many hour tests, there was no problem" reset bios, swapped RAM and sent him back to me.
Already two times I sent the laptop to them. Can you advise me what the problem is? What i can do to solve problem? Sorry for language mistakes. If need more information ples write in this topic.
    Please help.

    hi Arczi_Ghost,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From the first video, it looks like there's a problem with the Windows Loader or a system file that's needed to load but fails. Since you already re-installed Windows, this is most likely not an OS issue.
    - Windows 7 Boot Process
From the second video, the flickering can be with the display (LCD) or wit hthe GPU / GPU driver. It's a bit early to tell without running some tests.
If you manage to boot Windows, can you try the following:
    1. Install Lenovo Solutions Center and run a full hardware scan on the PC.
2.. Alternatively, you can also manually install the following and run a quick test on the unit.
    - Lenovo Video Quick Test
    - Lenovo Motherboard Bus Quick Test
    - Lenovo Memory Test
    - Lenovo Storage Quick Test
    Edt: Fixed the links
Let me know how it goes.

  • Lenovo G580 - WIndows 8 - Resizing OS partition & problems with system recovery

    Hello Everybody,
Just bought a Lenovo G580 notebook with pre installed Windows 8 (500gb harddisk, 4 gb RAM, Intel B960).I have been using Easeus partition manager with Windows 7 & its been working very well.So I wanted to partition my new HDD with it.Upon creating the a new 100gb partition (most importantly from OS partition that was about 428 gb) a very strange thing happened. The Refresh/Reset functions of WIndows 8 stopped working saying required recovery files are missing, also Lenovo One Key recovery program does not work with the message that required service partition is currently unavailable. At the same time, apparently  partition called Windows recovery  (1000 mb, hidden) still exists. One more peculiar thing I noticed & that is there is a new 1mb unallocated partition before the Windows recovery partition. While partitioning I did not receive any message about deleting of any data. One last piece of information (not sure if relevant) is before doing partition I had created a system image that I am unable to restore, Windows 8 repair function recognises the image bit is unable to restore it.
Any ideas how to restore the System Recovery functions or how to restore the system image.
    Thanks
    Petr

  • T420 Dedicated Video Ram

    Hello all,
I couple years ago I bought my girlfriend a Lenovo T420 for college. While not designed to be a gaming laptop, we've been able to get by playing most everything without a problem. Recently I started playing Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn, but she is unable to even download to her computer due to low dedicated RAM (she has 64 MB, but the minimum req is 256 MB). Is there any way to increase the dedicated video RAM or anything we can do so she can play without having to buy a new computer (since we're trrying to save for a wedding we're pretty strapped for cash)? I've read in a few places that some folks have been able to build external graphics cards for their laptops, but I don't know if this is even an option. Thank you for your help, I greatly appreciate it!
Specs: Lenovo T420; Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit; Intel Core i5 2450M CPU 2.5GHz; 4GB RAM; Intel(R) HD Graphics Family

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Memory remapping for the Graphics is done through BIOS. If the remapping feature is not available in BIOS under configuration, it means that it is either set to Auto or to a certain amount.
Right-click on the Desktop and click Personalize. Click Display in the bottom left corner of the Window. Click the Change display settings on the left column. Click the advanced settings link and you can view the total available memory to the graphics card as well as the dedicated memory. The dedicated memory is how much memory your video card has.
Refer this knowledgebase for a better understanding.
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Lenovo G580(20157) won't shut down [Windows 7]

    Problem:
    I have a Lenovo G580(20157) with Windows 7(64-bit),
My BIOS version is 62CN40WW (Phoenix MoBo), and I have a problem with my laptop even though it works and boots up fine it won't shutdown!!
    Troubleshooting:
    I have tried the following:
1.Do Hardware test - No errors.
    2.Reflash BIOS. - Still won't shutdown
3.Do a clean boot. (I believe it is a BIOS issue but I still did it anyways...)
4.Used the boot utility provide at your website but it still doesn't shutdown even in Linux, it is stuck at shutdown message (Arch Linux/Open Suse)
    5.Disabled UEFI
And all other quick hacks like pressing shift and shutdown, disable BIOS options like  redoing steps 1-5 etc, etc................
P.S:I have a dual-boot system (Windows + nix) with Legacy boot enabled if it matters. Thanks!

    hi ArchKudo,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Can you consider doing the following:
    1. Turn off the machine and remove the HDD
        - Video Disassembly Guide (see FRU Videos)
    2. Boot from a live Windows or Linux disc/usb (see this guide for Ubuntu and select Try Ubuntu)
    3. After booting from a live disc/usb, see if you can shutdown the machine.
If the computer turns off properly, try to put the HDD back in place and consider running another scan on the HDD using HD Tune.
If you get a warning or any errors on the Health Tab / Error Scan Tab then it's likely that you have a failing HDD and
you may need to contact lenovo for warranty service or replace the entire HDD.

  • Lenovo G580 boot menu is not working when pressing F2 and F12 key

QuestionI bought a new Lenovo G580 series laptop. After installation of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit edition, a problem revealed when Lenovo driver get installed.
When I installed Intel HD 3000 graphics driver and restarted laptop, the Window was unable to start normally. It displayed an error, so a recovery program started which was recommended. But this program failed to resolve the problem. Later, I tried again to load Windows normally but the blue screen fatal error showed up.
I attempted to reinstall Windows again, but after restarting window, the boot menu was not showing up after pressing F12 key. F2 key was also not working either.
I spoke to a Lenovo techincal assistance expert and they suggested me to remove battery and charger and press start key for 30 seconds.
My problem still remains the same, and I am unable to access boot menu.
The bios version is  62cn34ww. ls there a way I can get this running again?
AnswerPlease take note that the suggestion below is just a troubleshooting guide. If the steps could not fix the issue, you need to send you machine in for service for further assistance.
Try removing the hard disk , then press F2 button to enter BIOS
If you are successful in entering the bios, pleaes load set up defaults
Save setting by pressing F10 and shut the machine down
Connect the hard drive back and check if can enter BIOS via F2 and F12 to see boot menu

"OK, I will retain my sanity.... changed & of course forgot windows 7 password on my Lenovo H430 desktop. (about a month ago) came accross my windows disc & was going to see if I could boot from it (wouldn't from the pasword unlocker i downloaded) Anyhow, i evidently have a password to enter bois setup which i attempted to "guess"  baaad idea.  i am now looking at Fatal Error.....System halted on my Lenovo H430 desktop.   how do i proceed without doing any damage???    HELP...

Hey mate the keys are faulty nothing can fix it except for buying a new Replacement! , i fixed the problem simply by Replacing the KEYBOARD !  i went downtown and looked for a g580 keyboard and they didnt exactly have the same version g580 they had c or b580 i dont remmber what letter it was sorry ! but the thing is the whole keyboard layout of many Lenovo Laptops are the same just look one thats the same, cause mine wasnt for G580 but the thing is its still working perfectly ! only problem is the Screws didnt fit i had to cut out the sides of the screw hole thingies to make the keyboard fit in well in my G580 , Simply put all you need is a new keyboard replacement buy one they cost between 20-40$ worth it cause you wont have any faulty keys anymore evrything will work fine. no need to reinstall anything just replace it with new Keyboard. and Plus its easy to replace it by yourself. i replaced mine by myself easily.
