Lenovo G580AM problem/s

Hello again, I have two new problems with this laptop.
The cpu in the laptop is an Intel Core i3 2348m clocked at 2.3 GHz. In idle it runs at 55 degrees and when I play a video on Youtube for example (at 1080p) the temperature rises at 60-65 degrees. There is something wrong there for sure. I allways check the grill from the vent so that there is no dust and I ocasionally run the dust removal from the software. I don't know why the temperature is that high, is this normal? It should run cooler.
Also, I experienced some problems last month when I was playing some games. In F.E.A.R. 3 and Deadpool to be more precise. After aprox. 2 hours of play the laptop shut down. Now I think that this happened because of the temperature, but the cpu should enter in throttling when it reached the maxim temperature. ( Tj max. 85c)
Also, the laptop has a dedicated GPU for more intesive graphics - nVidia 635m. I run the games on that.
So the questions are :
1) What is hapening with the cpu temp? Bad cpu thermal compound?
2) What is with the shut down I encountered? I am playing games ocasionally, and Deadpool isn't that much of a resource consuming game. I also played games with higher specs with no problems.
I think is time to buy a good cooling pad, but I need to fix the cpu. temp. problem because even without a cooling pad the values are too high.
Thank you!

hi ncrazvan,
If you're in a 20-25°C room temperature, getting 55°C on idle mode is warm especially if you don't have background process running on the task manager.
If you can feel that the fan is working, it's possible that:
1. The fan is not spinning fast enough to dissipate the heat out that from unit
2. The thermal compound is not as effective (probably a bad apply or some of it may have poured into the board - causing a gap from the cpu/heatsink, thus, not maximizing the thermal conductivity)
As for the sudden shutdown, do you use apps like CoreTemp to monitor your temps? If yes, check thet overheat protection settings as it may have triggered/configured to shutdown the computer when it reaches the TJmax. It's also possible that the BIOS has this overheat protection but I'm only guessing at this point.
Regards

  • Lenovo C365 - Problemas Con Microfono

    Buenas tardes,

  • LaCie says Rescue & Recovery to LaCie USB2 disk trouble is Lenovo's problem

    Hi!
LaCie support says the Rescue & Recovery to LaCie USB2 disk trouble is Lenovo's problem. Also that there should be a fix ready for a TP T500 running XPP SP3. Any idea`s?
On the same topic: Why is battery power management set to High (save battery life) as default for Wifi? Is this causing time-out's or delays that Rescue & Recovery can´t handle, but  LacIe backup -- by standard wifi 802.11n to router connected -- USB2-disk can?
    Setup: Broadband-modem <> Netgear WNR3700 Router/LaCie USB2 disk <> Thinkpad T500.
    //S

I do not have an answer to this, but if you can tell me where I can go to actually attempt to delete the "backup" that R&R *did* create on my local drive, I would be most appreciative.  I had never used it (R&R) before (and I have used TP's going back *a long* time!) so I assumed when I tried it the first time that it would ask me where to put the backup, e.g. on the network, external drive, &c.  Instead, it started backing up *everything* to my local drive.  While it was running, I had to close the Tablet, which apparently did not make R&R happy.
Bottom line: my 100GB HD is already down to 25GB free (and it is only a month old), the "backup" apparently did not complete successfully so R&R will not recognize it to delete it.  So, I have a worthless backup taking up a ton o' space and I cannot find it to delete it.  HELP!!!  Next time, I will know to have R&R set up *before* running it to back up to the network. (or, based upon the original post to this thread, I may just manually back up my data or save all my important stuff on the network to begin with and let the sysadmin guys worry about backups!)
If anyone even knows what the name of the backup file(s) is/are, that would be a start.

  • Lenovo G480 Problem: I cant Create a new Drive

Hi everyone.. so my my laptop is a Lenovo G480 intel i3
    4GB ram
My operating System when i bought this was Windows 7 Home Basic.
So my problem is that my Local Disk C is 420 GB while my Local Disk D is only 25.4 GB
So I want my disk D to have more space (atleast 150GB) so I could store all my Installers, Games, Music and Videos in there, but when i try to transfer the memory from C to D, it wont. I shrink 150GB from my Local Disk C and when i clicked on Local Disk D the option Extend Volume is not available. So i tried to create a new drive instead.. I right click the 150GB unallocated space and the only option available is Create Simple Drive (i think). then i agreed at all the options but in the end it would say Not Enough Space.
I dont understand. So  I tried changing the Operating System to Win7 Ultimate but same problem.  Please Help Me I dont know what to do (and by the way it can also not be done when im installing Win7. The option Extend is also not present there or  Create new Drive)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

you need not to go to diskmgmt.msc as you have already messed up enough with your HDD. now wipe out you system reserved, C and D partition (I mean all created partitions leaving the OEM reserved partition viz "LENOVO_PART") booting from windows 7 DVD. At one page there will be drive option when you see your all partitions. click that "Drive Option" and now delete one by one all partitions leaving "lenovo_part" one untouched.
now create your required partitions of your size. system reserved partition of 100 MB will be automatically created when you create your first (C) drive.

  • Three Lenovo B520 Problems

Hello!  While using my B520, I have encountered these problems:
-Every few days, my screen will suddenly turn blotchy and green or red.  It flashes very fast and I am unable to do anything on the computer.  In order to stop it, I have to force the computer off and restart it  (although one time it quickly reverted back to performing well).  This has only occured whilst watching a youtube video, but not nearly every time.  For the grand majority of the time videos play with no problems.
-My webcam light is always on.  From the moment I turn my computer on to the moment I turn it off.
-My speakers have lost nearly all of the volume they had after unpacking it.  I do not play music loud, nor have I changed the internal settings of the computer.  I've had two models of this computer now and they both encountered the same problem: nice, loud speakers at first that quickly became quiet after a week or two, even at full settings.
My drivers are up to date and scans tell me that my computer is clean.  If anyone has any helpful information I would be very appreciative.

    Hi,
I’ve had my B520 for about three weeks now and I had the same issues you are now describing. The worst issue was the video issue which would cause the PC to go grainy, the PC would freeze and I would have to do a hard reboot to restart it. I did some research on this site regarding the video and found the best solution was updated video drivers for the B520. These were not available from the Lenovo site but from a third part site that modifies newer video files that are available to work on various PC’s and laptops.
So here is what I did to correct the video issue. Follow this link to the video driver I upgraded to : http://forums.laptopvideo2go.com/topic/28991-v28579-windows-7vista-64bit-nvidia-oem-mobile/  You will need to download two files, the driver file and the inf modified file. Once downloaded, you will need to extract the driver file to a work folder, it will create a folder in your work area called 285.79_win7x64. Next copy the inf file you downloaded in the folder display.driver which is found under the main folder 285.79_win7x64. You will get the warning that the file already exists and you need to approve coping over it when prompted. At this point create a manual restore point via windows restore in case there are problems with the drivers you are about to install and you need to rollback afterwards. After that run the setup.exe found in the root of the folder 285.79_winx64 to install the upgraded video files.  You will get several warning messaged about how these drives are from an unknown source, but go ahead and install them anyway. Once the setup completes, verify that Youtube and other video sites work correctly.  Hopefully that corrects your video issue as it did for me.  FYI – there is a newer version of the NVidia OEM Mobile drivers on this site, but they did not work correctly on the B520.
Next on the list is the volume issue.  This may not be your issue, but I discovered that the B520 seems to have two separate volume controls.  There is the windows volume slider which can be controlled via windows or via the Lenovo keyboard, then there are the volume controls on the touch screen.  The volume controls on the touch screen seem to lay on top of the other volume controls.  What I am saying is that if you are not obtaining satisfactory volume from the PC with the windows volume controls at max, try adjusting the touch screen volume control.  You will notice that a different volume scale comes up when you use these and hopefully once adjusted your problem will be corrected.
My webcam light is always on as well.  I never had a PC with a webcam before so I just thought that was normal, I guess not? I will be curious to see if someone post a comment about resolving that as well or if it’s just supposed to be that way.
When I first got this machine I was unhappy with the constant video issues and sound problem, but now my machine seems to be stable and I am pleased with the purchase for now.  Good luck in getting yours stable.

  • Lenovo A536 problem with audio video playback.

I've bought lenovo a536 smartphone 3days ago and I couldn't listen to music continuesly.
The audio or video player is stop playing or pausing unexpectedly. It is only giving problem while using headset.
Try to fix this critical bug.
It just ruined the reputation of lenovo.
Such a worst design ever with lots of bugs.

    I have more informations..
First a iWire cable is a simple display port to Hdmi 1.4 cable (you can buy it from applestore and it support audio + video).
SO, I installed windows 7 on bootcamp, and when I plug the iWire cable on my macbook pro while the home theater + videoprojector are ON, windows crash and restart...
If I plug the iWire cable on the macbook but if only the home theater is ON and the videoprojector is OFF, then it works... The hometheater is recognized as a TV...
What I don't understand is that my apple TV don't have problem with this config, nether my westerdigital tv.. It's only with a macbook.. display port should not be exactly same thing as a hdmi output maybe.. :/
I think I will have to buy a longer hdmi cable to plug it on the vp, and a optical cable for the audo to my ht :/

  • Ubuntu 9.10 and Lenovo G550 problem

    Hello,
I have one Lenovo G550 recently purchased. I've tried to install Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10, but both OS wouldn't boot. I'm not sure where the problem lies, as I'm Linux newbie and all I get is a dark screen.
I haven't tried to install it into a partition (because I'm afraid to lose the "one key recovery" software), but I've tried to install it via Wubi and also tried to run its live versions. All of them ends the same way: the LCD is turned on, but shows no image. I've tried to access the terminal (by pressing CTRL+ALT+F1), but nothing happens...
Do anyone have some idea about what is happening?!
    Thank you.
Edit: I re-tested version 9.04 with no-acpi and it worked fine.

    Hi
Tries with Ubuntu 9.04, this works well.
same thing happened to me. greetings

  • Lenovo G550 problem during games and warranty

    Hello,
I have lenovo G550, it has G210m graphics card with 512Mb memory.I bought it on 5-jan-2010.
From last 2-3 months my laptop suddenly switches off when i play games(after 5-10 min).I thought this was due to dust and overheating so I get it checked on the lenovo service centre, but overheating or dust is not the issue.
1.Is there any chance that graphics card has some problem..if not what could be the issue??
2.I got one year warranty. Can i extend my warranty and how much i have to pay for 1 or 2 year warranty..??
Will the warranty covers all parts..??
personal information has been removed for your own security

first of all, 3000 serie laptops are not designed for games. you should've bought ideapad serie laptops instead of.
but it seems you have some issue with graphic adapter. can you download any application to check temperature?
you can extend your warranty, better to contact lenovo via mail. lenovo will respond your questions about warranty costs.
( make sure you apply before your current warranty expires )

  • Lenovo T500 problems with Fnf3, Fnf6, brightness button and mute/volume buttons

I have done a clean install of Windows 7 and installed the hotkey driver as well as the system inter driver but these buttons are still not working.
The only ones that are slightly working is the brightness and volume buttons (excluding the mute which isn't working at all) but I am not getting OSD indication like I did in Vista.
Is it possible to fix this problem?
    Thank you
    -Zac

Of the drivers you mention I have the following installed:
    - ThinkPad Power Management Driver (6hku06ww)
    - Power Manager (7zu413ww)
    - Lenovo Fingerprint Software UPEK (6hf309ww)
They appear to work well apart from switching the built in CD player on after a power down. I now have to manually eject and reinsert the CD driver to switch it on.
On My T400s I only have discreet graphics. The built in drivers for WIn 7 worked but I downloaded Intels Win 7 graphics drivers from their site.
You might also want to install the UltraNav driver and Utility.
The drivers seem stable and (mostly) working as they should so I would recommend you install them.

  • Lenovo G570 Problems

This has been probably the best laptop I've brought, It was working fine and I was very happy until the otherday after showing no signs of performance decline or any thing else acting up, it just switched it self off randomly (Yes it was on charge) When I switched it back on again it would just go to the Windows load screen and stay there. Eventually it's somehow gotten to the point of fully turning on again but after 1-5 minutes it's freezes. How would I sort this I am at University and sadly PC World and Curry's are on the otherside of the city and I have no clue on how to get there.
On the website it says Lenovo have a office in the village of Hook in Hampshire, is this a place I could send my laptop to be fixed? Because when I'm not at University that village is only down the road for me.

If your G570 is still under warranty you can phone Lenovo UK support and they can arrange for it to be sent by courier to your nearest repair centre for checking and repair.
Firstly do you have the Window's Update settings set to 'Automatically download and install' if so alter the setting to 'Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them', the reason for this is it allows you to install the programs yourself at leisure, I wait about a week after a release of an update before installing it as it allows me to check Google to find out if a certain patch is causing problems.
If possible check to see if patch KB2670838 is installed on your computer as this is known to cause specific problems when installed on the G570 check these websites for further information:-
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2670838
    http://www.infoworld.com/t/microsoft-windows/microsoft-re-releases-botched-patch-kb-2840149-problems...
You mentioned that you would like to visit PC World to have your G570 checked over so possibly it is out of warranty, the other alternative is to contact a local computer repair  business such as "Datafixer" check them out:-
    http://www.datafixer.co.uk/Datafixer/Home/Home.html
I have no experience of them (I am based in Liverpool) and there are also a number of repair shops in Plymouth just Google for them for further information.
If you still want to visit PC World check your local bus services at:-
    http://www.plymouthbus.co.uk/
They have bus services which go near Marsh Mills Retail Park where PC World are situated.
Best of luck in getting your computer sorted it must be a disaster for a University student to have their computer fail!

  • Lenovo G530 - problem with certain keys on keyboard

    hi everyone.
I have a Lenovo G530 and I am having an odd problem with the keyboard.  If i press the spacebar when I type anything, i get the system date and time.  If I press the H button, I get a hn and i get nh when I press the N key.  Also get gb when I press G and bg when I press B.  The rest of the keys are fine.  Any ideas what could help???
I has this problem about a month ago and I remember reading somewhere on the net that if I press Alt-Crt-Del and some other key, it shoudl work... and it must have cause the problem stopped.  But now it's back and I can't find that combination again.
    I have Windows Vista installed.
    Thanks!!!

    Hello,
I doubt it's a hardware problem at all. I believe it's a "fun" program running on your machine that does this. Someone put it there for you.
A sure way to make sure what it is....... connect a USB keyboard to your laptop. If that USB keyboard is doing the same thing then it's software related, if not, then it's hardware related.
If it is infact a funware there or a virus you'd have to go to a malware forum and ask around. If it turns out to be malware try Spybot Search & Destroy.

  • Re: Lenovo S660 problems after failed upgrade

    Hi Friends,
Here I found a solution to the Failed Upgrade Problem to latest ROW_S062_141126 firmware version. It works like a magic.

But the issue with WIFI Connectivity is not solved in this version. It remains as it was in ROW_S058.
