Lenovo G700 Nvidia Driver Update Issue

I have a new G700 which has outdated graphics drivers on it. I've tried both installing the drivers manually from Nvidia, and by also using the GeForce Experience software to install the drivers, and both give me an error that states "This graphics could not find supported graphics hardware."  What do I need to do to install the current drivers for this notebook?

I tried to change the BIOS settings, however the only graphics options I'm presented with are the choice between "Optimus" or "UMA-Only." From what I understand, the latter sets it so that only the integrated (Intel HD) graphics are used and the Optimus utilizes switching techology. I would be fine with the switching if I could actually find a way to see that it works, as I've yet to see it switch over to the nvidia card.
The card was installed by Lenovo and came installed with the new notebook purchase.

  • NVidia driver update seems to help stuttering playback...

    nVidia released a driver update on 8 Jan 09, ver 181.20
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_181.20_whql.html
    My system was usually very good, as far as playback anyway, but this driver seems to have gotten rid of the remaining stuttering.
    For me, it was totally random. Same everything would be fine one day, and then stuttering the next, until I had played the timeline once or twice and then it would settle down. Now under 181.20, it is playing well first time, every time.
    There are still some wonky things with Photoshop not recognizing the Open GL v.2.1.2 even though After Effects uses it fully, but overall, it seems like an improvement.
    Thought folks would like to know about it...
    HTH,

    Interesting thread. I just downloaded the driver and installed it this evening.
    It certainly improved things in some areas, although I cannot say that it made Premiere useable.
    It did stop the 10-second GUI freeze-ups.
    Video now plays with a very stuttery quality, until it hits an unrendered title overlay--then it smooths out and seems to play at full frame rate.
    There are serious problems with the audio, however. Often there is no audio, or, shortly after playback begins, I get several loud bursts of white noise alternating at random in left/right channels. If I let it continue to play, I get a BSOD which states that a critical system process has stopped responding and Windows is being shut down to protect the system.
    With this driver, Premiere CS4 is one small step closer to being usable, but still has a long way to go.
    No problems noted in PhotoShop, but AfterEffects still crashes when OpenGL is enabled in AE. That's three nVidia driver updates I've done on this quad-core system, and all three of them are no good for OpenGL in AE. :(

  • Bluescreen! Updating Lenovo's nVidia driver for Win7 64bit on my w520

    No other messages were found that addressed this:
    Audio out  disappeared for no obvious reason playing web content on a TV through the DisplayPort (DP->HDMI adapter) on discrete graphics settings (in BIOS.) Most important, clicking the nVidia icon in Control Panel didn't bring up any dialog or control box/tool. So I went to the Lenovo driver updates for my machine and there is offered a very recent package of drivers for all the machine's graphics: nVidia and integrated. I downloaded that and ran it. On the restart the w520 bluescreened and a repair routine started that took a while to get the w520 booted. Looking at the "System" log there are a series of kernel power Warnings.
    The event text says:
    "The speed of processor 2 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report." This doesn't *seem* to be related to graphics...
    When the machine was up and running I went to the Control Panel and the nVidia software didn't start from the icon there, so probably no change. Same as before trying to install the new drivers. I had made a Restore Point just before trying the driver upgrade.
    The driver package was dated August 2012, I believe. Anyone successfully loaded this set of drivers?

    Not getting completely solved. I installed the Lenovo driver with a driver file freshly downloaded. Process seemed to touch all bases... screen went to low resolution in the middle of the process. After two restarts needed to return the display to full resolution I see only one "nVidia 1000 Quadro" device under video adapters in Device Manager. I thought the integrated Lenovo device was going to be there, too. Further problem: there is no nVidia item in Control Panel.
    My goal is to be able to have beter control over when the nVidia board is running, as I use Lightroom, Photoshop, etc. sometimes. I shoot tethered professionally. So I want to *know* when I have the boost from the nVidia hardware.
    Will someone please confirm that I should be seeing the integrated graphics solution in Device Manager? ...and the nVidia control panel in current driver?
    Thanks!

  • NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Driver update issue

    After entering the information in the NVIDIA driver search, I'm being told that the latest driver is the "Quadro Mac OS X Driver Release 256". However, after downloading it and trying to install the driver I keep getting an error that says "this computer will not support this NVIDIA graphics solution".
    I've installed the latest CUDA drivers beforehand like it says, and that has worked out fine. Not sure what I'm missing with this though.

    I'm getting the driver from the official NVIDIA website.
    That is the problem. The only place to download any type of updates for a Mac are from Software Update, otherwise you will run into issues such as the one you just experienced. I'm guessing you may have come from the Windows world where it's regular practice to have to go searching for new drivers, with OS X you no longer have to do this. Run Software Update and if it finds updates for your machine install them. You can also set Software Update to check on a regular basis in System Preferences - Software Update.

  • Nvidia Driver Update?

    What is the best source to continue to update my Nvidia card?  I just downloaded the current driver from Nvidia last week 305.93.  Lenovo & Windows both have a driver updates listed for my T420.  What is the best choice to use?
    ChiefR

    Hi ChiefR,
    Please use Lenovo ones as Windows Update and Nvidia will only list generic drivers, as this might not compatable with other preload programs and generic drivers might not support specific functions designed for this machine.

  • NVIDIA Tesla C2075 Disappeared after nvidia driver update

    Hi,
    I have 2 NVIDIA cards, the primary is NVIDIA GTS 450 and the secondary is Tesla C2075.
    After upgrading
    linux 3.6.9 => linux 3.7.9-2
    nvidia 310 => nvidia 313.18-3
    nvidia-utils 310 => nvidia-utils 313.18-1
    opencl-nvidia 310 => opencl-nvidia 313.18-1
    The cudaGetDeviceCount function in CUDA didn't recognize Tesla C2075,
    and cudaGetDeviceProperties couldn't find it as well.
    Strangely enough, Tesla C2075 still shows up in nvidia-smi and nvidia-settings,
    and some programs using opencl-nvidia interface could recognize Tesla C2075 as well,
    the problem is only with CUDA programs....
    I tried reinstalling cuda5 and recompiling the binaries,
    switching the Tesla C2075 to the primary video card,
    but they didn't make any difference.
    Any idea on how this could happen?
    Now I just down-graded nvidia driver and Tesla C2075 shows up in CUDA programs again....
    Thanks.

  • Radeon HD 6970M driver update issue

    I just got Battle Field 3 and it said i needed driver updates to my graphics card in order to play. So I went and tried to update like a fool without looking to see how on bootcamp. I updated to the latest driver and now my display resolution is  limited to 1600x1200. It wont give me the option to go up to the native resolution of 2560x1440. I know I probably did a lot wrong, but is there anyway to fix this?

    I tried using the update to 9.2 (12.1 Catalyst) update technique, the one when graphic card shows as 6700M, but the drivers still froze my comp and had to manualy restart the laptop (this happens only when in fixed mode, otherwise while in dynamic mode it says the driver stoped responding but recovered and/or it just switches to the working graphic card).
    Dont know why, but I am having a lot of issues with AMD drivers lattely and cant seem to get a stable driver setup, even when using the older offical version (in the link above). Acctualy this is also the reason why I would like to update my drivers, since stability was the only reason I was using obsolete drivers in the first place.
    Is there any way to update drivers to the latest version, or close to the latest version, that works for all those hybrid HP laptops?
    If any more info is needed please let me know...

  • T61 (7664-1bg) nVidia driver update?

    Hello.
    The driver for my nVidia Quadro NVS140M is a bit old now, september 2009 I think, and I'd like a driver update. Concidering how often nVidia releases driver updates, that should in theory not be a problem.
    However, I find that the drivers page for my aforementioned laptop only has the old driver. Say, isn't there an updated driver? 1,5 year old driver is a bit too old for me.

    Even though it's not an optimal gaming computer, I've been known to play a game or two on it. And recently, some of the games I play suggest a driver update to enable some of the newer features.
    I am aware that newer graphics card drivers usually work for just the new cards, but I do like my hardware drivers up to date. Downloading a driver directly from nVidia did not work, and it told me to get the driver from the computer manufacturer. This is very typical with pre-built computers and notebooks, and it kind of annoys me.
    Aw well, if there isn't an update availible, I guess I'll just have to live with it

  • Poor resolution of dektop after nvidia driver update

    Hi,
    I have a HP Pavilion Media center 8020n PC connected to HP w1907 monitor with optimum resolution of 1440X900 at 60 hz.
    The display adapter is Nvidia GE force 7350 LE. It has Windows vista home premium with Intel Core 2 processor.
    I recently updated the video driver from nvidia website version 266.58. Right after the download at the first bootup there was a big difference in the screen resolution. The picture is not crisp and sharp like it was before the update.
    I have tried to uninstall the new driver, unnstall the old driver and restart in safe mode with the antivirus off but it still gives the same poor resolution with streched out picture.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Look here for a monitor driver update.  Install the driver and reboot. Then check the monitor type in the Device Manager. Now does it indicate the HP 1907 monitor?

  • Nvidia driver setup issues

    I just got home with a new MSI 6600GT (AGP) that I picked up cheap, I've installed the card, that went fine. The computer booted fine so I figured I put it in the right slot (;)) and I wasn't sure how the Nvidia drivers worked so I pacman -R'd them and reinstalled. That went fine, then I started X and ran glxgears and it sat at about 900 fps My FX5200 smashed that...
    I figured I did something wrong so I checked the symlinks in /usr/lib, they're all fine. X.org is using the nvidia driver and all the modules are correct in xorg.conf cause I was using an nvidia card before without drama. So I figured I'd give Enemy Territory a go cause a lot of people say you can't use glxgears to benchmark a card. It was barely playable in 800x600...
    I guess I've done something wrong somewhere but I can't find where. I've followed the wiki instructions etc. Here's some output from commands that should prove helpful:

    I'm at a loss, hopefully I've missed something stupid. Do these cards need power from somewhere or does the AGP slot supply enough? The instructions didn't say anything about a power connector cable thing but it came with one. I didn't find it until after I had the card installed and case put back together but I pulled the side off quickly and couldn't see anywhere it'd hook up to... would this be the problem?
    Thanks for any help

    I think I remember it saying something on one of the sites about it being plugged in the top right hand side of the card if I remember right. Sorry I'm not of more help, but I do not own a 6600gt.
    EDIT: Heres a picture that I found that might be where it plugs in (labeled that way anyways):

  • Nvidia driver updates to OS X - How often?

    How often are GPU driver updates to OS X released by Apple? I am operating under the assumption that minimally each new major release of OS X would include the latest GPU drivers available from Nvidia or AMD as the case may be. So, in going from Mavericks to Yosemite I would expect a newer Nvidia driver than whatever was in Mavericks. Am I correct about that?
    I note we just got a driver bug fix via software update for 10.10.3. Considering the gravity of the bug it fixes, I am thinking the bug was introduced in a relatively recent driver update.
    Information about this stuff is not particularly easy to find despite time spent with Google and even in talking with Nvidia second tier support. Their claim is that they do send all driver updates to Apple as they release them but they also reminded me that Apple's process of approval and the time it takes comes into play which they could not comment on beyond that.

    The.first.nizza wrote:
    But for what sections of OS-X devices will this update be for free?
    And when installed, will this also update the installation hard disk?
    Thank you,
    Any Mac that can run Mavericks can run Yosemite. If you install it your hard drive and the recovery drive will be updated.
    Wait for it to come out, backup your Mac and try for yourself.

  • Nvidia Driver Update for MSi Gt 683

    Hello Fellows;
    I own a MSi GT683-244R notebook.
    I received a Beta key for testing the game Battlefield 3 but when I try to start the game they said that the Nvidia Driver is a old version and I need the latest one. I went to Nvidia web page to try to update my driver and I saw that my notebook from MSI is not supported, I need to download from MSI Website. On MSI driver page (http://www.msi.com/product/nb/GT683.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2064) the driver version is 268.12 and on Nvidia driver page (http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us) the lastest certified is 280.26.
    So, my question is... when MSI will launch the latest driver for our notebook???
    GT is a gaming notebook series, so we need the latest driver, please MSI, update it for us.
    Best Regards;

     This driver supports the following NVIDIA notebook GPUs (please refer to the Products Supported tab for exceptions):
    ION notebook GPUs.
    GeForce 8M, 9M, 100M, 200M, 300M, 400M, and 500M-series notebook GPUs.
    Quadro 5010M, 5000M, 4000M 3000M, 2000M and 1000M notebook GPUs.
    Quadro NVS-series notebook GPUs (only those that support DirectX 10 or higher).
    Quadro FX-series notebook GPUs (only those that support DirectX 10 or higher).
    NVS-series notebook GPUs (only those that support DirectX 10 or higher).
    And by the way I use them on my GT680 without a problem.
    You cannot install any video drivers outside of the live update. Nvidia released a beta driver specifically for the Battlefield 3 beta that has been released. because its not available through the live update, you cannot install it on the MSI notebooks.

  • Sol 10 driver update issues!

    Hey All;
    I'm trying to install Solaris 10 1/06 (x86) from DVD onto our HP ProLiant DL585--we have 4 scsi disks, and I've configured the basic raid 5 array in the controller interface.
    The problem happens when I try the driver update that's required in order for solaris to see the controller and disks. When we get to the 'select and installation type' menu, I'm picking "5 Apply driver updates", then choosing the floppy w/ the DU image from HP. That seems to go fine, but after it's extracted the driver to the miniroot system, I choose e for end (or maybe f for finished) and it goes straight into the interactive setup--there isn't an option to pick the solaris interactive text.
    The problem with that is, the install hangs, and the solaris install manager screen says "failed to start the java VM" etc etc. It openes and interactive shell window, where I can run format and confirm that the disks are recognized now, but I can't seem to get any further. There is a note on the HP driver readme that says to select option 4 (solaris interactive text (console session), but I seem unable to specify the install option after doing the driver update.
    Anyone have any advice for me? It's driving me slightly nutty at this point.

    Hit escape when you see the Proposed Window system configuration for installation screen.... to go to the Current or Proposed Window System Configuration screen. Select F3 in the Current or Proposed Window System Configuration and the install will proceed as a text install.

  • Jan 2014 Imaging driver update issues

    I upgraded my ZCM Primary server from 11.2.2 to 11.2.4 over the weekend. Today I downloaded the Jan 2014 Imaging Driver update from the 11.2.4 patches page. I downloaded the zenworks11.2.4_MU1_Jan14 that said it was for 11.2.4 and 11.2.4 MU1. I followed the readme.txt file that says to run the imaging_driver_update.bat file. I ran this and I get:
    "Applying wrong imagin driver updates........Exiting driver update."
    Does anyone have any solutions to get this fixed up? If I go to %zenworks_home%\share\preboot\update and look at the ZUpdate.sig file it shows 112303 for the [zen_client_version] If I go into the ZCC management page and look under the primary server all of the version show correct as being 11.2.4.
    Thanks for any information you can give. I also cannot PXE boot at this time as well. It gets through PXE fine and I choose "Start Zenworks Imaging Maintenance" from the Imaging menu screen and then it starts loading but then pops up "cannot connect to Zenworks repository" or something like that. I don't have it right in front of me now.
