Lenovo H330 Beep Code: 1 long 3 short and blank screen

I have an issue with startup, every now and again my startup initiates what sounds like 2 long beeps followed by 3 short ones - 'beep-beep' + 'beep+beep+beep' - but from what I've seen, throughout online discussion, it is only 1 long beep followed by 3 short ones. After this tune is played my screen remains blank, and on another attempt of start up the PC runs fine. Any ideas?

Since the computer's behavior changed after re-seating the memory I would double check the memory slots.  Remove the memory and shine a flashlight into the slot to see that there is no debris in the slot and that the contacts look fairly shiny.  Also look at your memory module contacts.  You can lightly rub these contacts with a pencil eraser to insure they are clean.  Just be sure there is no eraser residue left on them before re-inserting them into the computer and avoid touching the contacts with your fingers.
If the above doesn't offer any help then try booting the computer with just one memory module installed.  I assume you have two in there.  Then see how it boots.  If it boots Ok then swap the module for the other one.  If both of them boot Ok by themselves then move the memory module over to the other slot and try booting up the computer.

  • Mac keeps logging out and blanking screen.

    hi.
for some reason my mac just keeps logging out and blanking the screen at random points each day.
    its VERY weird.
is there anything i can do about it?

There are a number of things that you could try - resetting SMC and PRAM, doing an Apple Hardware Test, reinstalling system software, etc.
But, if I were you, I'd take the unit into an Apple Store or an AASP. But be certain that you backup all of your data before you take it in.
When there's no rhyme nor reason to restarts and 'blank screens' on a daily basis, it's best just to let Apple handle it - they can run tests that aren't available to mere mortals. Could be anything...

Usually inside the battery compartment. Check your user manual for instructions on accessing the RAM slots. If you don't have the manual you can download a copy at support.apple.com/manuals/. You will need to know the actual model you have to get the correct manual for it.

  • Tecra S1 sends beep code - 2 short 1 long 3 short

I suspect a memory issue ...I have 256 meg pc2100 memory . I have tried switching slots and got it to boot but it froze after 2 min.
Would not restart after that only beep codes
    Can someone help me?

Hi and thanks for your contribution. I investigated the thread you attached already. Unfortunately it doesn't answer the question. The Insyde BIOS (used in Tecra S1) is different to the others posted on many web sites.
There is no mystery in the beep codes and it doesn't take a Toshiba technician to interpret them either. If that were true why are beep codes meanings available for many other BIOS types. Self-diagnositc functions are just what the name implies and (in part) eliminates the need for a diagnostic tool to plug into the computer to track down hardware problems.
Personally I think there is far greater danger of screwing up a computer by randomly replacing hardware until the thing works. If I know what the beep code means I have a pretty good chance of knowing which hardware component is not functioning correctly. I can easily judge how expensive it might be and so forth. As a reasonably intelligent person I don't need a technician to read the beep code meaning, look up the hardware price and tell that what he/she just did will cost me X amount, before the repair is even started.
For those who may speculate that the beep code might be wrong and that only a technician can tell for sure - more nonsense. A technician doesn't know any more than you or me in that respect, apart from experience of the same problems. That leads us to the next logical place and that is if these failure modes and causes are so well known, why can't customers be allowed to know them. I don't want to know how many have failed in the field, but it is helpful to know what has been going wrong. It seems very strange that the problem my Tecra has, which is apparently common, has no published cause. I don't buy the notion that for the same beep code there are multiple causes. If that were true, the beep code is not doing what it was programmed to do and I would ask for my money back.
I know that I am wasting my breath here, but I wanted to express my view. I am sure that customer loyalty is not fostered by treating them like mushrooms.

  • Lenovo C30 beep code

    Good day!

    2 long - 3 short - 2 short

Need more details on your configuration, including whether BIOS is set up in legacy mode or UEFI mode and what cards  you have installed in the system.  From the info you gave, my guess is the following:
    - you're running in UEFI mode
    - the system is not able to load a compatible OPROM, likely video (this would be the 2 long + 3 short sequence)
    - the system is then logging some sort of POST error (this would be the 2 short sequence at the end)
If this is right, you can try flipping BIOS to legacy mode to see if you can get it to POST correctly.

  • 2 Beeps on Startup and blank screen - Satellite P300-19P

    Hi guys,
I installed an express card yesterday and it's caused all sorts of havoc (IRQ conflicts, hangs etc).
I went to restart this morning and it's now just giving me 2 beeps and nothing on screen. I've looked up the phoenix bios bleep codes but this one aint listed. Any ideas if I can do a BIOS reset with a jumper?
Obviously I've tried removing the express card!
    Any help would be fantastic
    Thanks

    Hi buddy,
    > Any idea what the beeps mean?
Only an authorized service provider can say for sure what this beep code means
    > I'm not fused about an authorised provider as it's out of warranty.
Why is it a problem if your notebook is out of warranty? Who says that a repair would be expensive? Maybe its a simple thing that would cost only few Euros.

  • Windows Server 2008 Standard 32-bit gives Rundll32.exe error and blank screen on bootup

Last week our file server installed automatic updates and then requested a reboot.  After rebooting it repeatedly gave a blue screen and rebooted.  After 5 hours on the phone with Microsoft support we all gave up on it with no solution.  Later
we were able to get the machine to boot using an old mirrored hard drive of the system drive.  We can now access our data drive, however after login we get this error:
Rundll32.exe : Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the
    item.
and the console just shows a blank screen.  We are not able to do anything on the server.  I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and bring up Task
Manager and I see that SQL Server is not running, so not all services are running normally.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Based on my research, this issue occurs because the Rundll32.exe file is corrupted. You need to extract a new copy of Rundll32.exe in C:\Windows\System32.
To do this, you can either copy it from another same version of Windows or perform an In-Place Upgrade.
How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows
    Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

  • Update and blank screen problem

Hi I recently was having the problem were my 8800 would get a blank screen and the red led would blink and the phone would not turn on. I pulled the battery and let it sit and it started to work again. After experiencing this I decided to connect my phone and back it up and try to update the software. I downloaded the bbdm and started to update my phone. I get to the point in the update " loading system software"  Gets about half way though and stops completely. I let the phone sit for 2 hours and hasnt made any progress. I then disconnected it and re connected it and tried the update again. Same problem doesnt make it past loading system software. Im really at a lost. any ideas??? thanks

I recently had the same issue when I upgraded to the 4.5 OS.  Blackberry had me pull the battery and run the loader.exe program.  It solved my problem.  You have to keep the battery out until it asks to initialize.
    I hope this helps

  • Lenovo G580 - Beep Code (Problem)

    Hello.
I have problem with my laptop Lenovo G580.
I buy this laptop 3 months ago without systems. I have system Win 7 32-bit and 64-bit.
Now i ahve problems with laptops and warranty service.
Laptop turns on normally sometimes and sometimes not. ( If problems shows, i cut the power off, remove battery wait for few sec, and turn on, sometimes i must do it 3 times)
It often happens that the computer will not boot just beeps.
The video below, also sometimes blink window.
    Link 1: http://youtu.be/e_fbWrL0ZHs
    Link 2: http://youtu.be/woviKyV7JdI
I thought that it is the fault of the firmware so I reinstalled Windows from 64-bit to 32-bit. It did not work. Flashing window appeared even when installing on a clean drive( second link, window blink on the beginning video), so I think it is rather not the fault of the firmware just the laptop PC hardware.
I sent the laptop with cinematics to warranty service and wrote back to me that "after many hour tests, there was no problem" reset bios, swapped RAM and sent him back to me.
Already two times I sent the laptop to them. Can you advise me what the problem is? What i can do to solve problem? Sorry for language mistakes. If need more information ples write in this topic.
    Please help.

    hi Arczi_Ghost,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From the first video, it looks like there's a problem with the Windows Loader or a system file that's needed to load but fails. Since you already re-installed Windows, this is most likely not an OS issue.
    - Windows 7 Boot Process
From the second video, the flickering can be with the display (LCD) or wit hthe GPU / GPU driver. It's a bit early to tell without running some tests.
If you manage to boot Windows, can you try the following:
    1. Install Lenovo Solutions Center and run a full hardware scan on the PC.
2.. Alternatively, you can also manually install the following and run a quick test on the unit.
    - Lenovo Video Quick Test
    - Lenovo Motherboard Bus Quick Test
    - Lenovo Memory Test
    - Lenovo Storage Quick Test
    Edt: Fixed the links
Let me know how it goes.

  • Beep and blank Screen after 10.4.11 Update

I have a PowerBook G4 that I use for odds and ends; it is not my primary computer. Last night I did some work on it, and when I quit, software update came on with a security update, 10.4.11, and some others (Safari as I recall). I told it to go ahead, and things seemed fine through the entire process until the reboot at the end. When the computer came back on, it gave three beeps and stayed with a black screen and the power light at the base of the screen blinking. This evening I put my 10.4 DVD in the drive and tried to boot from that. No luck (i.e., same behavior), and now the DVD is stuck in the drive.
Ideas? The computer was working fine prior to this.

Hi Charles, and welcome to the forum!
Your HD got hosed pretty bad, you may even have to pull it to get to boot off the Install Disk.
Have you done a PRAM reset...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
Try to restart your computer, hold down Command-s and type in the following:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
    Enter
    (Space before -fy important)
If you can boot from the Install Disk eventually...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates.
May even need to do an Archive and Install if you have room on the HD...

  • 3 beeps and blank screen on KT6 Delta

Occasionally on startup, I get 3 identical beeps and no video on screen. By just pressing the vga card on the agp slot slightly and restarting, it seems to solve the problem (although I think that maybe the vga card is not the problem). Any ideas?

Dude, that's really a poor psu!
You need a psu with more than 25A/3.3V, 35A/5V, 18A/12V, 180W combined power.

  • White Screen and Blank Screen

    Hi guy
I recently bought a 9720 and as new as it is,it fell when doing a back flip(long story)... So as we speak all I'm getting is a black blank flickering screen and sometimes that black screens becomes a "white screen of death"...
And I've been doing my research and because the 9720 is still new,no one has experienced what I'm experiencing maybe... So guys if anyone has a solution to this pls help out,pls pls pls,
    Thank you

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I recommend that you attempt to boot into Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Mode
It may take you multiple attempts to get the ESC key sequence (press/release/hold) correct, so be patient. When successfully into Safe Mode, see what happens.
If the behavior ceases, then think carefully...what happened just before this behavior started? A new app? An update? A Theme? Something else? Think carefully as the smallest change could be causal...and attempt to undo whatever that was.
But if the behavior continues in Safe Mode, then you may need to consider more drastic actions -- WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload, and the "Bare Bones" OS Reload Process. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup to your PC...please review the Backup link in my auto-sig on this post for instructions.
You may also need the use of these tricks:

KB27956 How to recover a BlackBerry smartphone from any state
    http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry
Also, please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Lastly, do be aware that if the device was damaged, then no amount of OS or software level "fixes" will be of any use. Only in-hand evaluation by a qualified BB hardware technician could give you a proper evaluation and estimate if actual damage has happened.
Good luck and let us know!
