Lenovo H520- screen blacks out while in use

the PC had been working fine until about a month ago- while actively working online, the PC appears to go into a momentary (lasting a few seconds) power save mode by blacking out the screen and a logo appears. The PC will then pull itself out of the black screen and the website that the PC was on just prior to this blackout will reappear.
This is very annoying. We have not adjusted any settings and have updated all the recent software updates, thinking this might be the problem yet the issue continues. We have been using this PC for about a year and are running windows 8.0.

I’m sorry to hear about the issue, as the computer boots to windows. I suggest you to re-install the Chipset and Video Drivers in the computer, while installing the driver right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to get it installed without any error. Screen Blanks Out while in use

I have a very odd problem with my Macbook. To be clear, this was purchased as an Apple Refurbished model over the holiday season, so it's only a month or five weeks old. It's the 2gHz Black Macbook, 80GB HDD, 1GB ram, OSX 10.4.x (unsure which revision of 10.4).
The first incident happened on New Year's Day. I was using the laptop on battery power, and somewhere between 20% and 30%, the screen blanked out. I figured that the power had run out, and it hibernated (odd, I usually get a "your battery is almost drained, please switch to power" message), so I plugged it in and re-opened the lid.
No response. I can hear the optical drive grind on, but that's about it. The screen flickers once, but stays black thereafter.
I took it into the Apple Store later that day, and had a Genius look at it. Of course, as soon as I bring it into the store, I open the lid; and lo and behold, the screen works perfectly. The Genius looked in my system logs and told me that the system had indeed hibernated, but when it came back online, there was a problem with the video drivers, so the screen didn't recognize that it should be on. Told me it was a one-time thing, and that everything should be just fine.
Well, I took it home and kept using it, testing it a couple of times by burning the battery down overnight, and plugging it in during the day and checking it. Each time, it came back from Hibernation just fine.
After a week or so of testing it, I just returned to my normal usage patterns, until Sunday night.
I was using the laptop - this time on wall power! - and I had the screen blankout. Again, I didn't know what was going on, so I did the only thing that seemed to work last time, I closed the laptop, unplugged and replugged it, and checked it a few hours later. Again, my screen works perfectly, as though nothing had ever happened.
I didn't get a chance to thoroughly test it on Monday night, but under normal usage patterns, it worked just fine. I bring it into work tonight (Tuesday night), _AND IT HAPPENS AGAIN_. The same circumstances as the last time it happened: plugged in, just idling at the desktop.
I'm beginning to think there's a pattern, but I don't know what's happening. I should mention that on all three occasions, I physically shutdown the machine, which would seem to make it such that when it's turned back on, I'm getting a fresh boot. When I turn the power back on, I do see the white light at the front, and I hear the optical drive making noise, but no "Apple" sound, and no screen.
I followed the advice of the Apple support article - clearing the PRAM - as I had two of the three indicators that the laptop was turning on, but still nothing (but that assumes that we're using a fresh boot). I also attempted to shut down the machine using the keyboard shortcut - ctrlcommandeject - but that makes no noticeable difference.
So, I'm asking for advice. One, what can I do, short-term, to get the unit working again? I'll try and keep this updated if it pulls the magical "I don't know what you're talking about, I'm working just fine now!" maneouvre again. When I get off work in the morning, I'm apt to take this into the Genius Bar again, as I now have a trend of this happening. It may also be possible that this is a genuinely defective unit, as it was a refurb, which means someone returned it to Apple (probably for the same reason).
Anyway, help where you can, moral support where you can't. Or, if you like, mock my plight and make pithy commentary about how I'm out of luck

And yet some more information:
I wanted to test something. Namely, was the computer "on" or not? So I inserted a blank DVD. The slot-loading machinery accepted it just fine. However, pushing the "eject" button does nothing.
The only conclusion I seem to be able to draw is that the computer is still in sleep state (does a sleeping Mac allow DVD's to be inserted? I don't know!). If that is indeed the case, then I have no idea how to wake it up; the power button does nothing (except holding it down until the unit shuts off), and opening/closing the lid has no effect.

Started on Friday 1/20 while watching a you tube video, thought it was going through a random reboot.
Screen barely powered on while trying to fix then randomly starts back up.
Happened again Saturday while on Facebook. Did a battery pull.
Then again Sunday using Facebook, once again.
Just curious though... anyone else?
Also, if I have to take it back to the store for the issue that should be covered by factory warranty are they good with in store switch of a new phone?
I used to get those when I had my En-V2

Limelemoneez, thank you for sharing your concerns with your device. I have not seen this issue with the Nexus so far. Since this seems to happen mostly when using the Browser and web applications, have you tried clearing cache from your Browser? If not, try this first. Open your Browser, press the 3 dots to go to Settings, choose Privacy & Security, clear cache. If you have installed any antivirus applications, please uninstall those. Also, if you notice this started after installing a new application, please uninstall that app also.
If this issue is still occurring, then I suggest completing a factory reset. This will erase all data from the device and reset to factory default settings. Since this phone does not have an SD card, I would recommend connecting to your computer to backup personal info like pictures, videos, etc. Also, check your Gmail account to make sure pictures backed up.

Screen blacking out?

I am curious to know if anyone else has had an issue with their screen blacking out while using the number keys during a call? This has happened four times to me, and I called Verizon, but thought maybe I had put my finger on the on/off switch by accident. However, this happened Saturday again, and I was SURE I did not touch that area of the phone. Please let me know if this has happened to you so we can document this issue with Verizon/HTC.

I am having the same issue. It blacks out or the screen flashes like it is "waking up" but doesnt fully wake up. It has happened on and off over the past two weeks. I thought it was due to a message coming through or a call but that's not the case. I will have to bring it in to see if it should be replaced. I am also experiencing ALOT of dropped calls. I have reset the phone but the issue happens as soon as I try to make the call again..... It driving me nuts.

Thank you so very much! My husband is in Afghanistan and calls at different times. If I am on a call and can't answer him it could be days before I hear from him again. I never thought to just restart my phone! Duh...this is my first smartphone so I am learning. All day people were calling while I was on the phone but I couldn't answer. G580- Screen blacks out when power supply is not plugged in to the laptop

My laptop is just 3 months old and I am already having problems with it.
The laptop screen blacks out when i remove the power supply from it.
When plugged in , it starts workin again.
Whats the point of a laptop if i am not able to use it without plugging in??
I don kno what the probelm is. Can anyone help here pls...

I’d like to help you with this issue as we can try to increase the Brightness of the screen from the power options while plugged in,
And then please if still the same we can try to uninstall the Lenovo Energy management and reinstall it back:

Random laptop screen Black out / Turn off .

Hi,
first of all my laptop is : HP Pavilion dv6-6160se Entertainment Notebook
to the problem now
A few days ago my laptops screen started out of a sudden shutting down/turning black( no lights at all ). This was happening while using the laptop at random. The screen had no lights, and if i use a flashlight on it there is nothing. like its turned off completelly.
Before this happens. Ths behavior varies. Sometimes it flickers from my desktop to a black screen then back on and some times not. Most of the times screen changed to a radom color (green mostly) then becomes black/shuts down.
NOTE: The laptop keeps runing, i can hear the videos playing so it probably isnt a gpu chip or gpu issue , music and games.
I searched the web for all kind of reasons that this could happen and tried some of the fixes .
Here are everything i tried and all or the details i could accumulate in past coupe of days:
1. If the screen flickers , blacks out and then turns back on i get a message that gpu drivers have stopped working and recovered ( on both amd and intel ).
2. If the screen blacks out, on rare ocasions if you close the laptop lid and let the laptop go to sleep , when waking up screen works again ( noticable due to screen moving)
3. I tried installing 4 different drivers all with clear install. ( didn't work)
4. I tried to to recover system with restore point. ( didn't work)
5. I tried to lower the screen brightness. ( didn't work)
6. tried this trick:
Turn off laptop
Remove battery
Hold the power buttong for 30-45 seconds
Plug-in the charger ( dont put the battery in )
Turn on laptop and see if it works.
Very Noticable details:
7. Since on of the rare fixes requires to move the lid i tried shaking the screen a bit or pushing it slightly to different directions. This actually does the trick and turns the screen back on ( i am right now typing this after using this "trick"
So, with this one as a hint there are a couple of stuff i have in mind but i am not sure and need help since i am not a technician.
a) There is a loose LCD cable and when i type a little vibration moves it and ends up in a black screen.
b) I read that if you use a flashlight and you cant see your desktop it means its a bad inverter.
c) Can the inverter have a lose cabe instead of the lcd ?
That's all the feedback i could give you that i can recall now.
Currecntly the screen looks ok ( maybe its the certain angle it has after i moved it so i would aprecciate a fast reply before it goes black again
EDIT: Tried to play a game for a few mins and i got the black screen again. Closed the lid so the laptop goes in sleep mode then opened it and it worked. Just for the records.
EDIT#2: Just tried to play a game again. got the blackscreen, shaked the screen a bit and it worked but for the 1st time i get the message " Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" , Can it be that its the GPU after all or maybe drivers?
EDIT#3: Tried to play a game again and it seem to trigger the issue . ( i am currently running the laptop with only the intel drivers installed)

I have read through your post and it seems there are a couple of possibilities, and I noted that you have already tried several of the things I would normally suggest.
I will however post some of those links anyway for you to review, it is always possible there may be something in one of them that may have been missed or may inspire an idea of the cause. Since you mentioned that sometimes just moving the screen will cause the problem or make it disappear, that does seem like either a loose connection or maybe something like pressure on a part of the display causing the issue. Of course that last part may just mean the display is on its last legs, but hopefully not.
First I will give you a link to the service manual, to help you check the connections. Just be careful to read the sections on precautions, to protect yourself and to prevent any other damage.This manual is also useful in that it lists all the compatible parts, so if the display is defective you could use this guide to help order a compatible replacement if you choose to do so. Screens black out when starting program

I don't know where to ask this since it is more related to CS4 in general. I mostly use InDesign, but the two moderators on that forum are trolls. I hope it's better here.
All screens black out for few seconds while starting or closing the following in Adobe CS4:
InDesign, Fireworks, Bridge, Device Central, Media Encoder
This does npot happen with other programs I've found or other programs in the CS4 suite.
Don’t know if this is a software issue or a graphics issue. Everything still works, but it's very annoying.

Quadro NVS 450 graphics card
Three NEC EA190M monitors
8Gb memory

Screen blacks out!!! HELP

hi! everytime i use itunes visualizer full screen (the new one on itunes 8), after a short while, the screen blacks out. it's not sleeping or in energy saving mode because if i tilt the screen enough, i can still see the screen display, just that there's no backlight on the lcd. really weird, and this has happened about 3 times already. i had to lower the brightness and bring it back up a few times before the screen would restore to normalcy.
what's wrong? should i send it in for repair?

Help Screen blacked out in 64 bit apps in CS5

I recently installed Production Premium CS5 and the AE/Premier Pro/Photoshop 64 bit apps have a portion of the help screen blacked out. I have spent 5 hours on phone with Adobe technical support and they have been unable to resolve. Has been escalated to level 2 support. Essentially the search box in left frame and the top of the main page consists of all black. This makes it impossible to see what has been entered in search box or where the tabs are to click for various options.

Issue was resolved by removing all Adobe Applications, including non CS5 programs like Presenter, AIR,Captivate, Acrobat and then reinstalling Prduction Premium CS5. After using Control Panel to uninstall applications, used Adobe's clean programn http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/829/cpsid_82947.html to remove all reminants.

I was looking into the issue you are describing and found a great resource to try and fix the issue without having to re install the OS. It is an article called Mac OS X: How to troubleshoot a software issue found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1199.
I recommend starting here:
The first and easiest test to try is to see if the issue affects a different user account on your Mac. Each user account has customized preferences and other items stored in its home directory. You'll first need to create an additional user if one does not already exist (follow steps a-h below). Then, log out of the current user and test the issue in the new user account.
If this resolves the issue, there may be an issue with a file in the home directory of the original user account.
From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
From the View menu, choose Accounts (or choose Users if using Mac OS X v10.2 or earlier).
Click "+" (or click New User if using Mac OS X v10.2 or earlier).
Give the new user a name and short name.
Mac OS X v10.3 or earlier only: Click the Password tab, and give the user a password.
Mac OS X v10.3 or earlier only: Click Security.
Select the checkbox for "Allow user to administer this computer". This makes the user account an administrator.
Click OK, or quit System Preferences.
Work your way down the article as needed.

Iphone 3g 2.1 screen blacks out

I have noticed after I upgraded to software 2.1 that sometimes the screen blacks out. I still receive my phone calls but can't answer them because the touch screen is disabled (blacked out).

If this problem occurs while calling then please do the following
Hold your phone in the hand and try calling to your home no(dont take it near to your ear)
Iphone should not blacks out (if it works as per this step)
let your home phone keeps ringing and now lift your phone near to your ear
now you should see your phone should blacks out
now again bring down your phone it should show the call screen (it should not blacks out) if this is happening then your phone is good
if this is not the case then take to Apple store

Please help.... my device suddenly black out while im on game.
I can fell the vibration and hear a sound when turning the volume up and down..

The Screen blacks Out

When I try making a call the screen blacks out for a min and then comes back after a while. Sometime it goes black for a second and comes back as well. What could be the problem?

Since installing yosemite my computer/screen blacks out, but still running

Since installing yosemite last week, my computer/screen blacks out, but still running. I have since rebooted everything, started from scratch and utilizing my external drive transferred all files/apps back. Did not help, in fact it is getting worse. Computer screen blacks out every 5 min or so and have to power up again. Also, continue to get Java message updates even after all have been updated over and over again. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.
