Lenovo Helix Docking Station

Do any of you guys have issues with the docking station?  Whenever I disconnect the top of the unit and place the unit back on, the USB connection to the docking station goes back and forth saying that it doesn't recognize the device and that it has malfunctioned.  With that going on, the second monitor goes off and on along with my internet connection

My information is that the X1 is going to be officially announced / launched on the 19th of this month, (at least hear in Germany), so I guess you're a little early.
That said; as the current docks are all "series 3" I would bet that the X1, (if at all dockable), is compatible with those rather than older versions. Sorry, but I have to say the X1 will not be compatible with your current dock.
Hope you can follow my logic.

  • Lenovo X1 Docking Station?

Hello, I have a T61P and have to decide by tomorrow if I want to order a X1 or pick a different model.  I was wondering if I can use my existing T61P docking station with the new X1.
    Would anybody know?

I have a Lenovo 420i attached to a docking station which has 2 DVI ports nad one VGA port.  One DVI port is being used, so I have one external monitor.  I want a 2nd external monitor.  Can I attach  and use a second external monitor on either the 2nd DVI port or the VGA port?

    Hi The_skwire,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are looking 2 external monitors for your ThinkPad T420i.

  • Problems with a Lenovo X41 and a docking station

I have problems with a Lenovo X41 and the docking station.
Sometimes, when the laptop is undocked and used in other location, when I try to dock it again, some devices, such as mouse or keyboeard attached to the docking station, don't work.
    I will appreciate your help.

I am also having the same issue you describe.

  • Universal docking station for Lenovo T430 and X201

    Hello,
I'm looking for a universal docking station for both my T430 en my X201 laptop.
It has to have a minimum of 2 usb ports + a HDMI exit to connect to my TV. A displayport (normal or mini) is also ok.
THX in advance for the help.

You would need usb port replicator options, but do note that these devices require usb 3.0 ports. So for your X201 you may need need to get an expresscard usb 3.0 adapter.

  • Where Can I Find Compatible Docking Station for Lenovo G780

    Hi representative,
I have a lenovo G780 laptop and I am looking for a docking station that matches the G780. The model name is 2182,
I have searched the lenovo shop but I cannot find any docking station that matches. Could you please help me find which docking station model that works for my G780 and where I can buy that docking station.
    Thanks for your help.

As far as I know there is no custom-designed docking station for the G780. Instead, consider a port replicator like Lenovo USB 3.0 Port Replicator. It connects to your G780 using a single USB port so it's almost as convenient as a docking station.

  • FOR SALE - Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet, Docking Station and Keyboard Folio Case

As my daughter is insisting on a laptop, her Thinkpad Tablet and Accessories will have to go....
The tablet is the 16GB WiFi Version (1838-5SG). The Docking Station is the standard one (0A33965), as is the Keyboard Folio Case (which is a Western European keyboard type - ASM P/N 0B33512 FRU P/N 03X6354).
The Tablet has one very tiny scratch on the screen, hardly noticeable, other than that is in perfect condition (the Styuls Pen is only 4 months old). The Docking Station has a slot cut out to enable a mini HDMI Cable to be connected through the facia (to the tablet), and other than that, is in perfect condition. The Folio Keyboard Case is in perfect condition. All cables, etc are included, and the Docking Station power cable has an EU plug (note that if you live in a Country which doesn't have EU Plug sockets, a standard plug can be purchased separately from the adaptor, they normally cost pennies....)
All boxes, packaging, instructions, etc are included, including the receipts for warranty purposes. The tablet and docking station are less than 1 year old, as verified by the receipts.
I can send full info, including photos, etc, if needed.
If anyone is interested, please make me an offer.

I was thinking i could use this Motorola Wireless Keyboard, it only needs an HID bluetooth connection, the ThinkPad Tab supports HID?

  • Thinkpad T520 Headphone Jack on Docking Station

I have a T520 thinkpad with a docking station.  I can get my headphones to work fine out of the laptop, but I would like to leave my headphones plugged into the headphone jack on the dock itself.  The computer doesn't seem to recognize this jack is even there.  My only sound options are the laptop speakers and the audio jack on the right side of the laptop.
Any ideas how to enable the audio jack on the back of the dock?

  • Lenovo Helix - On-Screen Keyboard with Bitlocker

    Hi Community,
i've tried to install Bitlocker on my Lenovo Helix with Windows 8.1 Pro. As long as the dock is connected with the tablet, you can decrypt the harddisk with the right key. But if the tablet hasn't a dock or an external keyboard you'll only see the blue bitlocker-homescreen and can't do anything.
Another helix in my company works with bitlocker - so i know it can work.
    i've tried the following things:
         - different Bios-Versions
         - install all drivers and additional software
         - set up a new Windows 8/ Windows 8.1 (Pro)
The on-screen keyboard works by adding a Bios-password.
Btw: The helix won't let me install Windows in UEFI-Mode..
    Can somebody help me?

current, it runs on legacy boot - the uefi bootloader doesn't work for x86 Win8.1 (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=SF13-T0008)
well, i have to install 32-Bit. The helix in Uefi-Mode only boots from the x64-Win8.1-DVD (or USB-Stick)...

  • Hard Drive not recognized when booting from XP CD on docking station

The hard drive on my X60 failed to the point where I couldn't recover and reinstall the image. I have backups of all my data and a docking station so I didn't sweat it. Bought a new drive and installed it and this is when the trouble began.
I created an XP CD with SP2 slipstreamed in to make sure I have the latest drivers. I boot from XP CD and everything works until I try to install Windows. According to the installation CD there is no drive installed!
I reinstalled the drive to make sure and this time I booted off of Ubuntu Linux which installed flawlessly. That leads me to believe that  there is a driver problem with Windows.
I need help! I would like to install Windows on the machine but nothing I've tried works.

Standard Microsoft XP SP2 does not come with any SATA device drivers.
    You have two options:
Go into the T60 BIOS and switch the SATA controller mode away from AHCI to "IDE" mode (or pehaps its "legacy" or "compatibility" mode - I forget what specific term is used in a ThinkPad BIOS).
Find the SATA device driver for XP (it's probably in the Intel Chipset driver download) on the Lenovo X60 support web site, download it and install it using the additional driver installation option which is offered right at the start of an XP install.
If you chose option 1, remember to switch the SATA controller back to AHCI mode in the BIOS after you have installed the SATA device driver.
    Cheers,
    Bill

  • Dual monitor setup with Docking station and W500 on windows 8

    Hi there
    I have a w500 with ATI Radeon 3650
Trying hard to have it set up with windows 8 and two monitors with my docking station. It worked with XP, Vista, W7...but no go now.
Any solutions out there? I don't care about catalyst control center, or which drivers I have to use, just give me back my two monitors connected to a docking station

I have the same W500 setup and have had no luck finding Windows 8 drivers on Lenovo's site or AMD's. I have a support ticket in to Lenovo to see what they come up with. I have two flat panel monitors that I need to work. According to  MS, Catalyst Control Center has compatibility issues with Win8. It was easy to set up both monitors under Win7 with CCC. I have not been able to set them up using Windows display setting in Control Panel. Does anyone out there know of an app that I can use to replace CCC and run two monitors?

  • Using two fingerprint readers and a docking station

I'm having a problem with the fingerprint reader when used with an Advanced mini dock station.
I recently aquired an Advanced mini dock and a Lenovo fingerprint keyboard to be used with my T61p and Windows 7 Ultimate.
The problem is that each time the T61p is docked I need to open Windows Device Manager and disable the internal fingerprint reader - and when undocked - the internal fingerprint reader needs to be enabled again.
This is a bit tedious - to say the least.
I've heard from someone that Windows should 'remember' when you enable/disable like this when the machine is docked and undocked, but this doesn't happen here.
Any ideas on how to make Windows automatically switch between the internal fingerprint reader when undocked - and the external fingerprint reader on the Lenovo keyboard - when docked? I know there is no longer machine hardware profiles - like in Win XP. But shouldn't there be some other feature to take care of stuff like this?
    Any hints are welcome.
    TIA.

    Tinkerguy,
    Thank you for the tip.
However, although very informative - it doesn't help in my case. On the Lenovo fingerprint keyboard I'm using the fingerprint reader is an UPEK as well - and for both FPR's the same driver version is loaded.
I forgot to mention that I've already checked that the external FPR has been set to have precedence in BIOS.
I'm now in contact with tech support at UPEK - Let's see if that gives anything.
Question: Is there _anyone_ out there that is successfully using Lenovo's Fingerprint Reader keyboard with a Thinkpad and a docking station under Windows 7?
By successful, I mean without having the necessity to switch the internal fingerprint reader off and on when docking/undocking?
    TIA.

  • Power Manager Setting To Preserve Battery Life When Using A Docking Station

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad X220 which is about 19 months old.  When at work, the computer is in a Lenovo docking station.  At the end of the day, it is removed and any further evening use is typically on the battery.
Yesterday, the battery symbol in the tray at the bottom of the screen displayed a red X on it and indicated that there was an "error".  I presume from this that that battery is dead and needs to be replaced.  I am surprised by the comparatively short life of this battery.
I was thinking that perhaps the use of the powered docking station played some role in shortening the battery's life.  For example, it may have repeatedly overcharged the battery.
Is there a Power Manager setting that will reduce the likelihood that the battery is being overcharged while in the docking station?  In the future, is it feasible to simply remove the battery before inserting it into the docking station so that this won't continue to occur?
    Thank you.
(I did a search of the community's knowledgebase, but didn't find anything on point.)

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that battery of your Lenovo ThinkPad X220 had undergone wear and tear and has to be replaced.
Capacity of a battery declines as the battery ages, with the number of charge cycles and time at high temperature. Under average usage patterns your battery maintains approximately 70% of its power capacity after the first year of operation.
Most laptops today use lithium Ion (Li-ion) batteries. Overcharging Li-ion batteries is not a problem and does not affect the battery life span. These batteries have an internal circuit to stop the charging process at full charge. This is why the Li-ion batteries are more expensive. The only way for the Li-ion battery to overcharge is if the charging system malfunctions, and then the battery will heat up while in the charger. Older laptops use Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd) and Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries. They require more maintenance than Lithium Ion batteries. They must be fully discharged and then fully recharged so that they don't lose battery life.
Refer this document to see the tips on how to increase the battery life.
Hope this provided enough clarity for your query!
    Best regards,
    Mithun.

  • Docking station display doesn't activate after upgrading display driver

I have a ThinkPad T400. I just reinstalled Windows 7 (64-bit) using a clean image. The automatic display driver that Windows found was for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series from 2010. When I put the laptop onto the ThinkPad docking station, the monitor, connected by VGA, was detected just fine and the screen came up in the correct resolution. However, I was having problems with slow cursors in various programs (e.g., Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Office) and hangs in Office that seemed related to the display driver. So I downloaded the Switchable Graphics Driver and installed it (http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t40... That solved the other problems, but now when I put my laptop onto the docking station or wake it from sleep while it's docked, the monitor never turns on -- the picture stays on the (closed) laptop screen. The only way I've found to get the monitor to turn on is to open the laptop and use Windows-P to turn it to "projector only" (while still docked) and then it finds the monitor (and gives me an error message saying that no projector was detected). Sometimes when this happens it tries to keep the laptop screen resolution, which is unfortunately not the same as my monitor. When I revert to the old driver, the docking station works just fine but other programs hang or are slow.
Please help! I really need my docking station to work, but I would also like to use hardware accelerated graphics rendering, which the other programs appear to want. (Or I need a way to turn it off so that it doesn't try to do that and I'll see if non-accelerated graphics work.)

  • T43p no longer recognizes 2877 docking station

My ThinkPad T43p no longer recognizes when it's installed in my ThinkPad Dock II (2877) docking station.  Thinkpad has latest possible BIOS and Lenovo power management updates.  It runs Windows XP SP3 at latest possible updates.  It normally runs in the docking station in my office, but I removed it the other day to use it in the living room.  When I re-installed it, it booted as if on battery power and remained running solely on battery power.
I have always cold-docked and undocked this machine, i.e., the PC is shut down before undocking and before re-docking.
On the docking station, none of the attached devices are recognized ( e.g., mouse, hard disk).  Strangely, the docking station power button does boot the PC and power it down, but none of the other docking station functions work including the eject button.
On the laptop Windows XP software, there is no Eject PC in the START/shutdown program list.
I've cleaned the umbilical connector strip on the base of the T43p and on the docking station with compressed air.
The T43p works fine undocked using the brick power supply, fully charging the battery.  The ports on the laptop all work fine.
I'd appreciate suggestions short of ditching the docking station and the laptop.

Which docking station - make and model?
