Lenovo Helix - On-Screen Keyboard with Bitlocker

Hi Community,
i've tried to install Bitlocker on my Lenovo Helix with Windows 8.1 Pro. As long as the dock is connected with the tablet, you can decrypt the harddisk with the right key. But if the tablet hasn't a dock or an external keyboard you'll only see the blue bitlocker-homescreen and can't do anything.
Another helix in my company works with bitlocker - so i know it can work.
i've tried the following things:
     - different Bios-Versions
     - install all drivers and additional software
     - set up a new Windows 8/ Windows 8.1 (Pro)
The on-screen keyboard works by adding a Bios-password.
Btw: The helix won't let me install Windows in UEFI-Mode..
Can somebody help me?

current, it runs on legacy boot - the uefi bootloader doesn't work for x86 Win8.1 (http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=SF13-T0008)
well, i have to install 32-Bit. The helix in Uefi-Mode only boots from the x64-Win8.1-DVD (or USB-Stick)...

  • On Screen Keyboard with Quickweb

How do you access the on screen keyboard when your in quickweb if you are using the system in tablet setup?

Use this method for always on top (introduced in 1.5)
public final void setAlwaysOnTop(boolean alwaysOnTop) in java.awt.Window
Not sure about the "transferring text to another application" part but you can gain access to the system clipboard with Toolkit.getSystemClipboard(). Not sure if this will do what you need though, maybe you should look at the java.awt.Robot class instead.

  • Lenovo Helix - Max Screen res? 4k?

Just picked myself up a 4k TV and wondering if the Helix would be able to handle outputting 4k video from DP to HDMI 2.0? Or is that asking a bit much of the older intel graphics?
    Does anyone know?

That may not be correct.  I am pretty sure I have the old X1 Carbon Touch (gen 1, 3rd gen i7) driving 3840x2160@30Hz 4K display via miniDisplayPort, it only has HD4000
Any tips on mini DP to HDMI cables? Or is this DP to DP?
I had a Kanex mini DP to HDMI, but it got savage artifacts and screen flickering at 1080p, gave it to my sister for her mac to run at 1080i and had to run a mini dp to dvi for 1080p.

  • Will the Lenovo Helix Digitizer Pen work with Windows 7

    Hello forum,
I work in the IT department and we have recently order a number of Lenovo Helix to use for special projects.
We will be downgrading to Windows 7 64-bit.
My question is will the digitizer pen still be supported by Windows 7?
Maybe I over looked, but I did not see any drivers that seemed to be associated with the digitizer pen or any previous mention of this and downgrading to Windows 7.
Any information you can provide will be helpful.

    Welcome to the forum!
Stylus pen is natively supported by W7 and it will work "out of the box".

  • Lenovo Thinkpad Compact USB Keyboard with Trackpoint: Middle mouse button and scrolling

    I got this keyboard (KU-1255).
Unfortunately, it generates bogus mouse button events if I click the middle mouse button and use the trackpoint:
With "thinkpad scrolling mode" disabled, the middle mouse button is released as soon as I move the trackpoint while still pressing the button!
Expected behaviour: The middle mouse button is pressed, the event created. Moving the trackpoint moves the cursor normally. Releasing the middle button creates a corresponding event.
With "thinkpad scrolling mode" enabled, the button is registered as pressed, then scrolling occurs as I move the trackpoint and the button is released if I release it.
Expected behaviour: No middle mouse button event is registered if I move the trackpoint. Pressing and releasing the middle mouse button is only registered if I click the button without moving the trackpoint.
When will there be a firmware update available for the keyboard, like for the SK-8855?
Since I am also using Linux, I would be really interested in fixing this in the firmware, not only getting a new Windows driver.

    Help please.

  • Lenovo Helix - sending to second screen issues

    Hi,
so i recently tried hooking up my lenovo helix up to my Sony TV (i don't have any more info on the TV than that, sorry) and a little bit of the screen on my helix was cut off, so i couldnt see the task bar at the bottom, or the tabs at the top of my browser. I was watching youtube, so it was pretty frusterating to watch in full screen mode because i couldn't see the progress bar at the bottom. i looked through the built menus on the TV, and couldnt find any way to change the dimensions. i was wondering if there is someway to change what size the screen is thats being sent on my helix. thanks in advance

    hi TheoNet,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
That cable you're using is meant for HDMI to VGA.
I believe that this will not work. "VGA output only provides analog signals while HDMI input will only take digital signals".
Converting it through a cable will not work. It can be possible but you will need a Signal Trans-coder that converts analog to digital signal like this:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audio-VGA-to-HDMI-Video-HD-HDTV-Converter-Box-1080P-/150531829415
    Hope this helps

  • What happened to Lenovo ThinkPlus USB Keyboard with UltraNav ?!?

    Hi all,
I want a keyboard that works EXACTLY like my T410 native keyboard. I found the ThinkPlus USB Keyboard with UltraNav that looks wireless, but it's been discontinued as of Sept 2009...anyone know what's up with that? I also saw this Lenovo Fingerprint Keyboard but it's not wireless and has no trackpoint or UltraNav, this one looks nice but it's not wireless and has no numpad or UltraNav, this one lacks the ThinkPad feel and look and reviews say the build quality is bad...so why do they have all these very mediocre keyboards...anyone know if they're in the process of releasing a GREAT keyboard with these features)?
My T410 is out of reach when its docked, so I need my keyboard to be wireless with UltraNav + trackpoint AND NUMPAD for data input, programmable keys, and of course a fingerprint scanner! I also need it to be able to affect my T410 EXACTLY as if I was using the built in keyboard... like using Fn + F_ to toggle display, power, radio settings, etc. I want it to have the same keys in the same locations and it needs extra media (volume, play, pause) keys and programmable keys to open programs/folders. I would like it to be rechargeable too. It would be great if it came with a good wireless mouse as well. I understand wireless fingerprint readers are not any more secure, and are probably even less secure so this I could do without...but they should still put it on the dock that recharges the keyboard and mouse!
Pretty much, why hasn't Lenovo come out with the perfect wireless keyboard for us ThinkPad fans? I know there are other companies out there, but I'd like to add type on a keyboard with traditional ThinkPad quality that IBM lovers have gotten used to!
    Thanks,
    O

I used to own a ThinkPlus USB Keyboard with UltraNav. It wasn't wireless, just standard USB. Unfortunately, it died after 5+ years of abuse.
That keyboard has been replaced by ThinkPad USB Keyboard with TrackPoint (55Y9003). If you search for that FRU number you'll find it available for sale.
The new model is closer to a current gen laptop keyboard (more so than the original ThinkPlus keyboard). But it is missing the numeric keyboard and the TrackPad part of the UltraNav.
There's a good story as to why the keyboard is wired and why the other components were removed:

Yeah, unfortunately, I don't think Lenovo is going to produce exactly what you are looking for. Like you, I miss the numeric keypad.
But at least it's cheaper than before. You could buy a separate USB/wireless numeric keypad to with the savings.

I already have multiple devices and by far I like my iPad the most over laptops and the iPad. That including checking out my friends MacBook Air.
The difference for me is the touch interface on the screen itself for things that do not require a lot of typing. For me, the iPad is more "magical" than anything else I've used.
Again, I do appreciate your answers but you don't know my situation. Not everything is as it is perceived without knowing me and what I have to go through.

  • Can't use an IBM PS/2 UltraNav Travel Keyboard with Lenovo Dock?

For my Lenovo Advanced Dock, I bought an IBM UltraNav Travel Keyboard with PS/2 connectors; I figured it might be better-buklt than the 31P9490 Lenovo version, which uses USB. I guess I hadn't thought it through, for the IBM keyboard requires two PS/2 connectors--one for the keyboard, one for the trackpad and TrackPoint--and the Lenovo dock has only one PS/2 port. Am I stuck?
Thinkpad W500, Windows 7 Ultimate, ATI graphics (home); ThinkPad E531, Windows 7 Enterprise, Intel graphics (work)

OK, it appears I can use it, provided I get a hold of a PS/2 splitter cable:

  • Introduce a keyboard with built in numeric keypad option on the W500 Lenovo!!

Ok, so this is not so much of a question as suggestion to Lenovo and call for any who think its a good idea to ad your support in appealing to Lenovo to offer it.
There are a number of competitors out there who make 15.x inch laptops and provide a numeric keypad on the keyboard. I do a lot of entering of numbers (and I suspect do a significant proportion of other potential W500 buyers) and not having a numeric keypad is a real limitation. Separate USB keypads don't really fix the problem because they don't offer the convenience and ergonomics of having it on the keyboard. Given the fact that it is aimed at true power users who can justify its cost, it should also offer the option of the keypad. I know this would mean a redesign but I believe there is enough room there (there may need to be some resizing of the current keys to fit it in but for those who crunch a lot of number its would be worth it. Given that many of the competitors who offer less capable machines can successfully fit the numeric keypad on a 15 inch machine then Lenovo should be able to do it without stuffing up the integrity/userbility if the current keyboard.
    Anyone agree?

The laptops my employer provides (probook 6550b & elitebook 8560's) have numeric keypads. What I dislike about the keyboards with them is how off-center the keyboard, track pad and touch pad are. Haveing the keybpard centered is much better for true mobile work. A number pad sounds nice, and If I were an accountant, CPA or someone that works with numbers a great deal, it coul dbe a desireable feature. (or get an external number pad if that important.) Overll, I like the placement of lenovo's keyboard and other keys much better than what HP has done.

I have a problem with my motherboard and my battery of my 2010 macbook pro 13". It was just serviced with a new screen, keyboard, and logic board. How much will a new battery and motherboard cost and would it be worth it or should I just get a new computer. It was about 300 dollars to get it serviced last week. if it adds up to much past 600 dollars I will just get a new one. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!
P.S During classes today it began beeping in my bag. Like three kind of long steady beeps then a short pause, and when I opened it I couldn't see anything but it was on so I turned it off and back on.

Depends on what options your Apple store offers - if they can do a depot repair (where they send it out), that's around $300 for all parts & labor.
If the store doesn't have that option, a logicboard is around $600, battery $80-$100, from what I've seen.
If they JUST replaced the logicboard, you absolutely should NOT have to pay for another replacement - the replacement is covered by a warranty. If they want you to pay for it, make sure you have a copy of the receipt for the work that was recently completed so you can show it to them. They have no reason to charge you for another logicboard.

  • Win2008r2 RDS farm with "Remote Session Environment" set, Need on screen keyboard as well.

I have an RDS farm with select users running an app for their session, I use the following GPO:
    http://i.imgur.com/DaKpW76.jpg
This works great, however, I also want an on screen keyboard to load with it as well... This setting disables most login scripts I have tried.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Sorry to disappoint you, but as per my research there is no any default path to set for all users to display on-screen keyboard. You need to start manually or need to develop some script to start on logon. For developing any script or program, I suggest you
    to contact our MSDN forum.
    Hope it helps!

Are there any other left eye dominant (or left handed) iPhone users that experience problems with the touch screen keyboard selecting the letter next to the one you'd intended..?

It's either hand right or left.
I have the same issue myself.  Not sure if it's b/c my fingers are too big or if I'm really missed the letter on the keyboard.

Are you familiar with Ink on mac os x?
Normally one needs to have a tablet or device that supports Ink to use all the features such as hand writing recognition and such, but
one can enable parts of it without the proper device.
Anyway, if Ink is not shown in the system preferences, you can go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras and double click on Ink.menu
That puts the Ink icon on the Menu Bar where you can access the Ink preferences from the drop-down menu and then turn Ink on and Show Ink Window
The small window has symbols for the Cmd, Shift, Option and Control keys and then one can press, for example, the Option symbol and set the clone source point in photoshop.
Don't know whether it will work for your students, but thought it was worth a mention.

  • Lenovo Helix compatible Stylus with eraser?

Hoping for some input as to which Wacom Stylus will work on the Helix with reverse eraser functionality. I was looking at the Wacom Feel but it doesn't seem to have any different functionality to the Helix stylus, only different size and feel.
Lenovo Helix i7 256gb... wish I bought a Surface Pro for better support...

The Helix uses the Wacom drivers. That means you can use the stylus/pen that comes with the Helix and lives in a housing in the tablet part, or you can use any Wacom “Penabled” pen. I find the Lenovo-supplied pen to be too skinny for comfort, and the button is flush, making it hard to press. It also does not have a built-in eraser (a minus in my book because I’m a sloppy writer and erase a lot). On the plus side, there are lots of alternatives out there. The stylus I bought for my Latitude 10 works fine (Dell part number 332-0102). I also bought a Wacom “Penabled Tablet PC Eraser Pen (Mfg. Part#: UP710E). It’s identical to the Dell except it’s grey and has no clip. Lenovo does not supply spare nibs. If you write a lot you’ll need a new nib sooner or later. My favourite is the Wacom “Hard Felt” nib (Wacom SKU ACK20003). It’s hard to find, but writes beautifully. One problem I’ve run into is the fact that you can’t use another pen if the Lenovo pen is fully inside its housing. If there’s a setting to turn this off, please let me know! It’s a hassle to have to pull the Lenovo pen out to be able to use mine.
