  • Lenovo IdeaPad U350 wireless card update

    Hello!
I got a Lenovo IdeaPad U350, it should be model # 2963-47U (specs. here) with half-size mini-pcie wireless adapter with Broadcom BCM4312 chip which supports only .11bg. This card connects to antennas by two feedlines.
And I want to upgrade it with Intel 5100 which is .11agn and costs only about $6 on eBay. There is empty full-size slot for the card and even two unused feedlines that go right to the point. Sorry I have no photos right now.
    So I have two questions:
    Shold I detach old wireless card before install new one? Cause I know that if both of them plug to the same antennas they can burn each others receivers;
Is there some other convenient wireless cards with 2 uFL connectors with is cheaper, better or more reliable? I actually not need .11a (5GHz range) as much as just .11n support.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
That 2nd slot is probably for a WWAN card.  I don't think that a WLAN card will be recognized there.

  • [SOLVED]lenovo ideapad u350 backlight issue

Hi, as the thread title says i have an issue with the backlight on my lenovo ideapad u350.
/sys/class/backlight/  is empty so i cant use xbacklight.....
I allready added acpi_osi=linux and acpi_backlight=vendor to my menu.lst, but still /sys/class/backlight is empty....
but I can set the backlight with sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=xx , does that mean i just dont have the right module loaded?
what do I need to do, to get the necesyary stuff in /sys/class/backlight so i can use xbacklight?
havent found anything with google or in forum/wiki besides people using setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=xx , or people having
backlight dimming working out of the box.

Does someone know how to resolve this issue? plz!!!

it doesn't allow me to continue to command prompt, it stays frozen at... windows\system32\DRIVERS\CLASSPNP.SYS then BSD and restarts! fortunately it's still under guarantee. thnx anyway

  • Ideapad U350 parts

    Hi everyone!
I have bought one month ago my new Lenovo ideapad u350, and now i want to upgrade my wifi card!
My model came with the Broadcom wifi card, but i know that the intel 5100 is supported too.
Now, the lenovo bios is blocked, so i have to buy an IBM/fru part.
Anyone know what is the Intel 5100 IBM/fru number part for this notebook??
I have googled it, but without success.
Many thanks, and sorry for my bad english (i'm from Italy), Tony.

  • Ideapad u350 model 2963 - mobile broadband sim card

    hi,
i've got a u350 model 2963, intel core solo 1.4 ghz, 4gb , 320 hd etc. and was wondering if if the sim card slot under the battery will work or not , have tried a few 3g broadband sim cards ( not phone sim cards) and nothing . Also had a look in the memory/HD compartment and it seems there are 2 mini pci slots with one being taken by the intel wifi card and i empty - i would have expected to see a 3g card in the 2nd one , there are wires for the ariel connection??
Can only assume this model doesn't come with one built in ? any ideas anyone ?
    Cheers
    Steve.

Don't hold me to it but the Wan Miniport 2 I don't actually think is the Ericsson card
If the drivers aren't installed it would display under other devices if it was included in your system
A lot of W530 systems to my knowledge don't come with the WWAN installed, it is WWAN Upgradeable and has a Sim slot and the antennae cables already there, mine was like this and I had to remove the keyboard and install the WWAN card (cost : £100ish)

  • USSD dialing on lenovo with sim card enabled

I have Lenovo T540p running Windows 8 64 bit. I have installed Mobile Broadband and I am able to browse the internet with the sim card. But the problem is that there is no sevice to access and dial the sim card from the desktop. I can't check balance or load airtime from the desktop. Is there a driver that I need to download so that I can be able to do USSD comand and load airtime? I don't have to remove sim card, load airtime and replace again everytime.

    hi omidboxter,
For using the SIM card (selected models), you will need to:
    1. Make sure the Wide Wireless Lan Driver is installed (see device manager)
    2. Make sure the SIM card is activated and you're within the network coverage area
    3. Use your carrier''ss 3G/4G mobile broadband software to connect (i.e., VZAccess Manager for Verizon, Sprint SmartView for Sprint, etc.)
    For removing the SIM card:
    1. You need to push the SIM card in to eject it. If the SIM card is not ejecting and just keeps being pushed inside, the SIM card slot's spring maybe damged (inserting the SIM card in the wrong direction can damage the SIM card slot), If this happens, you will need to use a Tweezer to take it out.
    Hope this helps.

  • Lenovo A328 Sim card size

    Hi,
I just bought a Lenovo A328 for my father, and he complains to me that the sim card is doen't fit the card slot.
So I am wondering what is the Lenovo A328 sim card size?  Is it a mini sim card or regular sim?
As I check on the internet, the lenovo official say it is regular size sim card, but my father sim card is regular sim but still can't insert  the sim.
And when I check from other source, some stated that it is a mini sim card slot.
This make me confused, can somebody please tell me what is the card slot size for this model?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi mytc
The Lenovo A328 has 2 Mini SIM card slots. We(in general) refer to the Mini SIM card as the normal/regular SIM card.
I still remember my father's first Motorola cell phone....You had to insert the whole card(credit card size) inside. That was the ''regular'' back then.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way but maybe your father is inserting the SIM card backwards. It happens sometimes.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

I observed that both the time there was a screw near SIM which went loose. • Add Verizon SIM card to Lenovo Thinkpad 8 tablet?

I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad 8 tablet that is 4G LTE capable and which has an empty microSIM card slot. Would Verizon offer just the SIM card (and a plan, of course) so that I could take advantage of my tablet's 4G LTE capabilities? I don't know if I actually will or not, but I'm exploring the possibilities.  Thanks for any input.

Congrats on your newly purchased Thinkpad 8, Downeaster59! New electronics are always exciting. I recommend stopping by your local direct VZW store http://bit.ly/3SdsA for more details with regards to working with you on an activation/ adding to your existing plan if available.

  • T500 and Sim Card

    Hi Community,
Since last week, I got a T500 as my new company Notebook.
I noticed, that it has an internal HSPA Modem.
The first I did was to update the drivers and Lenovo Software. Now the Ericson driver Version is 4.50.6.0
As I try to establish a connection, it tells me "No Sim Card found". I tested it with my "3" UMTS Card and with a "Vodafone" Card from my colleague.
Hotline said there is no Sim Lock but no more Help from Helpdesk
Is there somebody in the community that has an idea?
