Lenovo IdeaPad U350 wireless card update

Hello!
I got a Lenovo IdeaPad U350, it should be model # 2963-47U (specs. here) with half-size mini-pcie wireless adapter with Broadcom BCM4312 chip which supports only .11bg. This card connects to antennas by two feedlines.
And I want to upgrade it with Intel 5100 which is .11agn and costs only about $6 on eBay. There is empty full-size slot for the card and even two unused feedlines that go right to the point. Sorry I have no photos right now.
So I have two questions:
Shold I detach old wireless card before install new one? Cause I know that if both of them plug to the same antennas they can burn each others receivers;
Is there some other convenient wireless cards with 2 uFL connectors with is cheaper, better or more reliable? I actually not need .11a (5GHz range) as much as just .11n support.
Thanks!

Hi,
That 2nd slot is probably for a WWAN card.  I don't think that a WLAN card will be recognized there.

/sys/class/backlight/  is empty so i cant use xbacklight.....
I allready added acpi_osi=linux and acpi_backlight=vendor to my menu.lst, but still /sys/class/backlight is empty....
but I can set the backlight with sudo setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=xx , does that mean i just dont have the right module loaded?
what do I need to do, to get the necesyary stuff in /sys/class/backlight so i can use xbacklight?
havent found anything with google or in forum/wiki besides people using setpci -s 00:02.0 F4.B=xx , or people having

  • Lenovo g570 and wireless card problems

    Ello folks,
I recently bought a Lenovo g570 Notebook, started using it all went fine recently i even upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8 x 64 and everything was swell. At some point my wireless connection was working fine but then BAM my wireless connection dissappeared from the list of connections. I must say that i had the same problem with the previous windows 7. Figured that the broadcast from the router was the problem but it turned out it wasn't sooo i'm assuming it's some kind of setting from the laptop because all other wireless using tech from home can see that particular network, all except the lenovo notebook.
Any help would be appreciated. I must say that i recently updated every driver to the latest after deinstalling the previous ones, without any result..... It's driving me nuts ....

  • Lenovo IdeaPad V460 Wireless connection problem

Hi, this is my first post and one of my most frustrating problems, l have brought the laptop for nearly a year now and l notice a problem with my wireless connections, it was either windows resetting the wireless card or there are a problem with the card it self, l think, the problem is solved once l restart the computer but never lasted, can u tell me whats possibly wrong with step by step solution on how to solve this, thanks in advance

    hey andrew5s,
try uninstalling the wireless driver for your unit, let windows install its generic driver.
test your wireless with the generic driver.
    later go to : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=287385
and install the wifi driver that is available here. test your connection again

note 2: I 've already tried to change the bios configuration about boot priority order with no effect
note 3: i tried all the options of f8 button such as safe mode, safe mode with network etc with on effect...

it doesn't allow me to continue to command prompt, it stays frozen at... windows\system32\DRIVERS\CLASSPNP.SYS then BSD and restarts! fortunately it's still under guarantee. thnx anyway

  • Wireless Card updates?

Dunno if im in the right forum but I took my g4 powerbook from 2001 out of closet due to a friend interested in it so now im trying to update it. First of all its outdated running 10.2 OSX but I tried to connect to my wireless on it and it wont connect to WPA ( just plain password) it allowed a password screen to pop up but it said could not connected to airport (belkin router) tried taking pass protection off and it worked. Does anyone know of a update to support WPA passwords for a wirless card? (ps. our other mac laptop running tiger can use the WPA)

I think getting all updates will enable this feature, but I'm not sure if it's working in 10.3 the same way.
10.3 maybe a bit tricky about that, at least in one document from my university about using Macs in the WLAN it's suggested to NOT update the Airport-Service-Program to latest 10.3.9 because that would break the WPA/802.1x.
There is mentioned that with 10.4 there are no (known) problems at all but in 10.3.9 the situatuation is as this:
    Firmware 3.1.2b3 (3.30.15.p3) working;
    Firmware 3.4.3f1 (3.50.37.p4) od. 3.4.f5 not working;
It's named there only for Airport Extreme there but with „old“ Airport it may be similar.
I also believe that some parts of the WPA-encryption are done in the driver itself. I'm running Gentoo as second system on my Titanium 1Ghz and there's no way to get WPA working with the built in Airport card.
If WPA is needed my suggestion would be to upgrade the System to 10.4, also shouldn't be slower than 10.3.
    Best regards,
    Friedrich

  • Wireless Bluetooth Speakers (TDK A33s) Won't Stay Paired to Windows 8.1 (Lenovo IdeaPad Y580)

    Hello,
I recently acquired a pair of Bluetooth speakers (the TDK A33), and am unable to connect it to my PC. The Bluetooth interface sees the speakers, connects with
them for a few seconds when I try to pair, and then disconnects. The speakers connect to my phone just fine, so it's not the speakers (and TDK tech support hasn't exactly been very helpful).
    I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Lenovo IdeaPad Y580; I tried updating
my Bluetooth drivers, as a few sites recommended (pulling them from them Lenovo site), but still no dice. I've read a few things that seem to suggest is a
    Windows 8.1 issue.
Any advice would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,

try to check whether you have the latest version

  • Which Wireless Card? Lenovo A26

Hi I am trying to buy a wireless card for my lenovo thinkcentre desktop  MT-M 9120-A26  which product should I buy?

Quality USB WiFi adapter should be ok and is most handy. Like D-Link etc. You could also use PCIe WiFi card, but then it will be inbuilt in computer and depending on placement of PC can be good or not so good solution ...

  • Any System Update for Ideapad U350 ?

Would like to ask whether is there any system update software for ideapad U350 ? I know there a system update 4.0 for thinkpad, Thanks

Seems to work OK on my system. It did identify two missing drivers and installed them.
The start-up time on the first run was very long 30 seconds or so with the splash screen only.
But it will start and subsequent starts are quicker.

  • Lenovo V560-43422GU laptop - which wireless card and is there HDMI output

    Regarding Lenovo V560-43422GU laptop:
    (1) Is there an HDMI output?  Lenovo sales rep says YES, but Bestbuy.com specs say NO.
    (2) Which wireless card is included?  Lenovo gave me a list of possibilities, but said the card is actually specific to each dealer/store.  Please tell me which one of the following cards will be in the laptop if I buy it from Bestbuy.com.
    Intel 6250
    Intel 5150
    Intel 6200
    Intel 1000
    Broadcom 4313
    AR 9285

Very good questions with no precise answers online.
I see you already posted on the Lenovo forums and they do not have an answer for you right away I love how the tech says he will contact you in a FEW days... and it is their product. I had a smiliar situation with them and it took 3 days lol.
Again, I see you did your searching well... not a lot of information seems available.I guess physically seeing the computer can verifiy this.
Looking at image #4 on the Best Buy site shows there is an HDMI port, but it is covered.... and that concerns me especially when the SPECS say it does not have an HDMI port. I really do not see why it would not have an HDMI port available, even the lower lines of Lenovo z565 and b560 have them available.... it is almost becoming a standard now days for HDMI.

I will be at a Best Buy on Thursday.
If you do not get a reply back by then I will be there and physically check the machine for the HDMI and interally for the Wi-Fi card that is in there...
But hopefully you get a more informational reply before then =)
I will check back in on Thursday.
Let me know if you have any questions before then.
    Good Luck to you.

  • Lenovo C200 All in One Wireless card issues

I have a brand new Lenovo C200 Atom DC 2 All In One PC (Desktop). I seem to have a problem with the wireless adaptor which is a Atheros AR9285. When I first power up the PC it connects to my router and gets internet speeds of around 5MB per sec, after a few minutes it spows down to around 120kb per sec! I called Lenovo support and after holding for 50 mins to get through I was told that I needed to contact my internet service provider who would be able to change the channel on the PC and improve things!
I have seven other PC's connected to my router and none of them have any problem. Also I cant transfer files from my central storage drive with the Lenovo because the connection times out because it is so slow. I am convinced it is a problem with the wireless card, there is nothing else that could possibly cause this that I can see. Also this is the 2nd Lenovo with the same fault, I sent the original one back and this is a replacement.
Technical support are supposed to be calling me back tomorrow but I dont hold out much hope with them after they told me to speak to my internet service provider.
Has anyone got any ideas what I could do to cure the issue?
    Any help appreciated.

OK after many hours of searching I found the problem, the issue isn't exactly with the Lenovo although you would expect them to supply a wireless card that is compatible with Windows 7!
The issue is with the Atheros AR9285 wireless card, if you Google the Atheros card you will find numerous posts where people have had issues with this, there isn't any one straightforward fix, it seems dependent on what router you are using and how you have things set up.
I played around with my router settings and the settings on the Lenovo and finally found a configuration that worked for me, the Lenovo dosent like some channels on the router but does others, if anyone else gets this I would recommend changing the router setting from auto channel select to one channel between 1 and 11 to find one that works best. That seemed to fix
    mine.
Thanks a bunch Lenovo support, call my internet service provider, yeh right! Also when you keep people waiting on hold for 50 mins before answering a simple "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting" would be nice not an argument with your CS rep saying "You haven't been on hold for that long".
Anyone with the most basic knowledge should know that if files can not be transferred from a central drive by the wireless card its nothing to do with the internet service provider!

I just Bought a lenovo X60 tablet (Type 6367-A15) and the wireless card it came with is useless beyond five feet of the access point. I have tried a few cards and they don;t work because of a bios 802 error saying the pcie card is invalid and the computer won't boot. Is there a way to mod the bios and remove the whitest? Alternatively where can I find a list of accepted wireless cards.
