Lenovo IdeaPad U510 touchpad scrolling with 2 fingers

Hello. I bought a lenovo ideapad u 510 yesterday and I think I have a problem. whenever i try scrolling with 2 fingers i have to press harder than when i am simply just moving the pointer with 1 finger. is this normal? on my old laptop i didn't had to press harder with 2 fingers, but here if i don't the touchpad thinks i am using just one.

This is your second post : "PS: i donwloaded the latest drivers from elan website and I also edited the sensitivity to light touch which is maximum."
So which touchpad do you really have? Elan or Synaptic?

  • Ideapad U510 Touchpad problem

I have bought a lenovo ideapad u510 a week before. From the very begining I am facing toucpad problem, The cursor jumps everywhere in the screen and make automatic selection all by itself. I am totally unable to control the cursor.
I have tried installing Synaptics driver after unistalling default Elan driver, but it wasn't solved a bit. I have tried by changing various options from the  Elan menu, also disabled 'Multi-finger' option.
I have bought it from Canada but now I'm far away from there. So if anyone knows the solution please help me.

Please reinstall your default touchpad driver (ELAN). According to Elan: The main cause of unexpected cursor moving or click is the accidental palm contact with the touch pad. You can adjust your Palm Tracking setting to maximum to make your touch pad insensitive to "palm contacts"

  • Lenovo ideapad u510 w/Fedora 19 Live USB black screen

I am having difficulty with a new lenovo ideapad u510. I am attempting to install Fedora 19 using the Fedora 19 xfce spin Live USB image, and the drive boots properly, but upon selecting the option to start Fedora 19 Live, I get a gray screen with a cursor on the top left, then two error messages that look almost idential to each other flash by, the Fedora logo starts to load, and then the screen goes blank.
The part of the error message that I was able to make out was "...failed to enable the AA(?????)"
I have attempted to turn the monitor back on using the F9 key's alternate function, and I have tried booting from DVD with the same result. Once the screen goes blank, it stays that way until I force the machine to shut down. Once I've forced the shutdown, the computer, upon turning back on, goes to the blank screen again without even loading the lenovo BIOS screen. Even the 'novo' button will not load any options for me.
My UEFI is set to Legacy / Legacy First, although the EFI setting is still Windows 8, with no alternate options. I've looked all through my settings in every tab of the BIOS and I can't find anything further to disable secure boot.
Is anybody able to assist me in installing Fedora?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Follow up:
I have tried more flavors of linux, and over the course of doing that, I have discovered that after choosing to boot a linux live disk, the screen does not instantly go black as I had thought with the Fedora installation, but rather is reduced to 1/4 the physical size of the screen for a few seconds, then goes blank. After it goes blank, apparently, the live OS continues to load, as evidenced by the loading .wav sounds that play even after the screen is blank.
More and more I'm convinced that the graphics hardware is causing problems, but the lenovo site is completely silent about the specifics of the graphics, saying only that the hardware is nvidia GeForce series.

  • Ideapad U510 Touchpad

    Hello,
I am having issues with my touchpad. It does not allow for any multi finger swipes. I originally had finger swipes but had to get the touchpad replaced by Lenovo because the mouse would move when nothing was touching the touchpad.
Since I received my machine back from Lenovo repair the swipe features are gone and the options features in the Elan setting windows is grayed out. I tried installing drivers (from the Lenovo and Elan websites) and did a complete system recovery, but I still cannot get multiple fingers to work with the touchpad.
My screen is fairly wide and it is very annoying to have to scroll with the side bar, so does anyone have any ideas on how I can get multiple fingers swiping and scrolling?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, just curious if this issue was ever addressed or resolved by Lenovo? I just bought a refurbed U510 and have the Elan drivers, no multi-touch functionality. I'm just wondering if I just need to deal with it or if there is a way to fix it so I can get those features. Thanks.

  • Lenovo ideapad s405 touchpad mouse problem

    Hi to all
I bought this laptop a week ago and I installed windows 8 pro edition
I have a problem: when I press a button in the keyboard I can't move the touchpad (so I can't use,for example, games because I can't move the the view of the character)
What can I do? There aren't problems when I push CTRL or ALT or buttons that don't write something. Thanks

    hi Razorbacktrack,
Your issue might be similar to this thread.
If your PC came with a Synaptics Touchpad, can you try to:
    1. Go to the Control Panel (large icon view) then > click Mouse > Device Settings tab > Settings
    2. Under the Synaptics Settings, go to Pointing > Sensitivity > Palmcheck and set the palm sensitivity to minimum and test the game.
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
If you have an ELAN touchpad, try to:
    3. Adjust the PalmTracking option under Additional Tab on the ELAN Smart Pad settings to the minimum (see spoiler)
4.If same problem, press WindowsKey+R then type appwiz.cpl. From the program list, uninstall lenovo pointing device, reboot.the PC and test (you can re-install this later by nagvigating to D:\Drivers\Touchpad).
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
    Let me know your findings.
    Cheers

  • Lenovo Ideapad S400 touchpad stoped working

My touchpad stoped working and need help

    Update!
This is by no means solved, but I do think it's >improved<.
I found a newer driver (v. 11.4.7.1). The mouse pointer still has some delay, but it isn't as unbearable as it was before. I do find that the left click "button" is not always reliable (the single tapping is more reliable). But it's better and corroborates my thought that this is mainly a software issue. I also disabled all the multi-finger functions.
The link for the new driver is here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS032199

  • Ideapad U510 Battery Stuck at 94%

    Hi,
I bought a brand new Lenovo Ideapad U510 just yesterday, but when I charge it, it does not charge past 94%. The status remains at 94% plugged in and charging, but it doesn't actually change even after an hour or two.
I have tried unplugging to 10% and then recharging but again it got stuck at 94%. And yes I have checked the energy mangement and it is on Maximum Battery Life.
Should I drain the battery completely and then try recharging?
Is there a way to fix it to charge all the way to 100% or is it a problem with the computer itself? Thank you.

Drain the battery first and then try again. Probably this is also maybe happening to prevent battery detoriation. So this can be normal.

  • Exhausted of my Lenovo ideapad

In Lenovo Ideapad Z80,Touchpad was not working after 4 months of purchase. After complaining several times a technician came after one and half month and couldn't solve, aslo created a new problem of led light buttons not working. The second technician came after 15 days and again unable to resolve it. Now the third one came after 1month and while resolving it he has created multiple issues. It is a seer waste of time and this is the 3rd time that the technician is unable to resolve all the problem and creating new issues everytime. I'm totally tired of them. This issue is pending for about 3 months. Please let me know how could I complain to higher authority.

    @ hankc1949
Im from the philippines also, i have been to the service center several times already for various issues and my k1 is barely 2 months old. for 490$ you paid, that is really annoying to get a replacement k1 unit just to say you have you have a barely running/useful unit. Thats horrible support and excuse.
My thoughts on this is that its going to take sometime for a fully working motherboard replacement to arrive so they gave a you replacement that is barely usefull and has issues itself so that it will take you off their back while you agonizingly wait for your replacement. And you cant demand a exteneion of warrant since you have technicaly a running unit. why dont they just wait for the replacement motherboard to arrive and give your k1 fully working if the time to get one is reasonable? So far giving you a defective unit as a replacement is causing you more aggravation and frustration than just waiting for a decent replacement motherboard.
You cant also escalate the issue to consumer protection agencies because you were technically issued a temporary replacement. Which technically is not the same one as you paid form in terms of quality and function.
You need to go to the lenovo philippines face book page and strongly complain and express your issues. It gets their attention due to the bad rep and cut your waiting time alot because they will take notice and personally contact you.

  • Lenovo Ideapad U410 scrolling down with a grey screen

    HI,
I just recently purchased the Lenovo Ideapad U410 and sometimes when I try to scroll down with both fingers, a grey line and background bar starts to come down and encompass the whole screen, rendering the screen and all my apps useless. And then on the right side, it shows the time and date squished togetherand I can't seem to get out of it unless I go back to the start and then open the desktop again.
Why is it doing this and is there a way to stop it because when it scrolls all the way down, the laptop won't work and if I don't touch the touchpad, bubbles start forming forming as if it's a screen saver.
    Thanks

It sounds like your hard drive is failing or has failed. It cannot repair the disk and is suggesting you back up and format the drive. Do you already have a backup?

    hi Shady710,
    Welcome to the Forums.
If you have a Synaptics Touchpad, can you check if you have a One Finger / Two Finger Scrolling feature under Mouse Properties.

  • My touchpad will not scroll with the current version of foxfire.

The screen in foxfire will not scroll with the sliding of my finger on right side of the touchpad on my lenovo thinkpad or the navigation button. It does work with all other programs including windows explorer and google chrome.

OK, this is the original poster again. The trackpad scrolling problem has been sporadic. Now I have realized that I have this problem (in Firefox 7.0 and 7.01) WHEN THERE IS A PDF DOCUMENT OPEN IN ONE OF THE TABS. When there is a .pdf open, trackpad scrolling works fine in *that* tab but not in any of the other Firefox tabs that are open. When I close or move away from the .pdf file, then the scrolling function returns in the other tabs. Is there something about the Acrobat plug-in (ver. 9.4.5) that isn't working correctly in Firefox 7.x?

  • Will Tablet case with combined keyboard work on Lenovo Ideapad A1 07

    Hi All,
Sorry if anyone has asked before but couldn't find specific.
My wife has recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad A1 07 for its size,  a friend who has a small android tablet also recommended to her, to buy a tablet case with combined keyboard with USB connection from amazon. When received the connection obviously doesn't fit, so I started searching around web for an adapter for it, but I’m seeing conflicting info that the ideapad either does/doesn't support USB data transfer connection point, so before buying an adapter what is correct!.
Can anyone throw some light onto whether Lenovo will update the firmware to be able to use USB at any time or has anyone have a work around. Any help and advice to get this keyboard working would be grateful as the tablet is a great little device for her.
    Gazzataf

If you are patient, go through the reviews of a specific USB keyboard that was suggested as an addition for Lenovo A1 by Amazon: You will see that even though users have tried different cables and adapters, no A1 user has managed to get this working on his tablet.
This issue may be solved by a future upgrade (if any), which will enable the USB OTG feature of the microUSB port of the A1 tablet. Until then, nothing can be done in order to have any USB device identified and working with A1. I really hope that I make a mistake here and that someone will come up with a working soultion for this issue ...
