  • Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 Recovery Issues

I'm very disappointed from Lenovo for producing Laptop without complete recovery solution.
I mistakely formated the hard drive of Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13, so I lost the recovery, so I called Contact Centre and they pointed me to Jumbo Electronics Company in Abu Dhabi of which are aotherized to do services for Lenovo. I went to them to save time, and get my laptop back to the initial state of which I bought, instead of getting the original state of how I bought the laptop which was:
    1. Windows 8.1 Single Language.
    2. All Drivers are Installed.
    3. At Start-Up, I should be getting to put in my sync account while it's preparing windows for first use.
    I got the following:
    1. Windows 8 Single Language installed. (Not 8.1)
    2. Drivers are installed.
    3. Recovery is supposed to be back.
    4. Local User Account "Lenovo" was created.
OK, Skip it, it's fine. I thought about trying to do recovery to make sure of the recovery working before I do back up of it, here is what I got:
    1. Windows 8 Single Language Installed (Not 8.1)
    2. Not all drivers are installed (For ex. Wireless Driver which is very important for this laptop since no LAN no other connection except wireless)
So I thought they gave me the non-original recovery because of the missing drivers which was not believable to me.
I contacted "Service Centre for IdeaPad Within UAE" ended up telling me that that was the original copy of the Recovery and Yes, it does not Install the Wireless Drivers! And that he himself tried it at his side and confirms it!
Can somebody explain to me how come that I paid for recovery to recover the laptop to the initial state and I did not get the real initial state of the laptop?
How come at the service centre they don't tell me "Warning" about the wireless and that I have to download and back-up the drivers before doing the recovery of the laptop?
How come actually Lenovo produces a laptop with recovery missing drivers?
VERY DISAPPOINTING! VERY ANGRY AT LENOVO! If I CAN RETURN THE LAPTOP AND BUY FROM DIFFERENT BRAND, I WOULD DO SO!
BIOS FEATURES ARE POOR NO BOOTING FROM SD CARD AVAILABLE!
WIRELESS IS POOR IN QUALITY WHILE ITS THE ONLY AND MAIN CONNECTION FOR THE LAPTOP!
Simply you are SELLING half Quality Products, WORST RECOVERY SOLUTIONS EVER! AND EXPENSIVE FOR NOTHING!
VERY DISAPPOINTED AT LENOVO PRODUCTS FROM THE FIRST IMPRESSION OF LENOVO IDEAPAD YOGA 13!

I have the same problem.  If I continually power cycle the machine (either via CTRL-ALT-DEL or the switch) combined with either plugging or unplugging it from power I can eventually get it to boot up.  No idea how to fix it yet.  I noticed that the fan doesnt seem to be running when it doesn't boot and it is almost like it has to "warm up" or something before it will boot to the hard drive.  Any fixes would be greatly appreciated.

  • Lenovo Ideapad U410: part of screen is white

I have a Lenovo Ideapad U410 and the left part of my screen is uniformly white after turning on the laptop. It's a rectangle about 1 inch long, from top of the screen to the bottom.
I got this suddenly pretty much a month after buying the laptop (it appeared suddenly and I didn't do anything to cause it), and then the area of the white rectangle got bigger after I mistakenly dropped my laptop yesterday.
Would buying a new screen and installing it fix this, or could the problems be more besides the screen?
And is this covered by limited warranty?
    Thanks.

    Hi Dsav6,
As per your concern, I would suggest you to please re-install the graphics driver of your system from the below mentioned web link.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&DocID=HT073650
Afterwards, please restart the system and check if the issue still persists then it needs a personal assistance and it will be covered under warranty.
    Regards,
    Sameer

  • Win 8 product key and a pre-installed Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13, how to get it?

    Hello
I live in Finland and I have read previously that these Windows 8 product keys are now linked somehow with motherboard´s BIOS systems, so we actually don´t need to know our product codes anymore.
Well, in some cases we do need to know them.
My Windows asked me once if I want to install a new version to get some new features, the same procedure can be launched by going to your Control panel, selecting System and selecting the top option where it says you could update to a new version to unlock new features.
This requires a 25-digit Windows 8 product key. Which we Yoga 13 owners do not have, as it is somewhere in the BIOS, hidden from us.
How can I give my product key to this field if I do not know it?
    1. Called to Microsoft
I tried contacting Microsoft Finland about this, but their automatic phone service stated it was none of their concern as it is a pre-installed system, and therefore I need to contact Lenovo straight. I tried to get a person to talk to, but I got none. Always an automatic service. I called to their switch (is this the right word?) to ask if I could get a person to talk to, but the number she forwarded me to always got to an automatic robot, again.
    2. Lenovo Customer support
Well, Lenovo directs customers to this forum from their customer service web page, so I hope some Lenovo employee can finally answer this question, please. I value customer service, and getting an answer from another forum using customer is not really customer service when they suggest using some 3rd party software to maybe get your windows 8 key with a method that may not be the most fancy way if asked from Microsoft. Lenovo Finland in Espoo (near Helsinki, contacts here: http://www.fonecta.fi/yritykset/Espoo/792365/Lenovo+Finland) has a phone number that hangs up every time you try to call it, I tried 4 times. This is getting awkward, you know.
    Thank you,
    - Tapio

When they ask for that key, they are expecting an upgrade key to something like Windows 8 Pro or addition of a Media Center Key. They don't expect you to use the same Key you are already using. It won't work.
Anyhow, take a look at this:

  • Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 - Wakes up when lid is closed when power button is pressed

    Hello everyone
Got my Yoga 13 back in mid December, and so far I have been really happy with it.
However, just recently I noticed a critical problem; When the lid is closed, and the power button is pressed, the laptop wakes itself up. Actually once mine woke up when I might have accidentally pressed the power button when placing it inside the sleeve bag. It stayed in my bag for a good 2 hours and heated the hell out of everything (85 Celsius!!), even some color off of the sleeve burned into the side of the yoga (not too noticeable, didn't really care about it). It survived however, no internal damages or performance reduction as I have thoroughly tested everything.
So is this suppose to happen? My brother has a Sony VAIO which is close to 3 years old and has Windows 7 on it, and it also has the power button on the outside inside the round hinges. When I press the power button while lid is closed, it doesn't wake up. How come the Yoga wakes up when the power button is pressed during lid closed? Or do I just have a bad unit?
    Thank you.

Still waiting for an update on this...Haven't had the problem as I am now extra cautious.
As person above me mentioned, even if it turns itself on it doesn't go back to sleep as per battery schedule which is strange (i.e. something keeps it awake). This is my first Lenovo laptop, and I have been using this laptop rigorously for pretty much everything from VMs, rendering, photo/video editing, presentations etc. and have nothing but praises and positive things to say about this. But I absolutely cannot recommend this to anyone at my work place, not even my boss. If this problem exists, they will end up having their machine destroyed without it being really their fault. Lenovo please fix this, and you will have a loyal for life customer.

  • Lenovo ideapad yoga 13 no windows 10 icon

HI I have on and off used this laptop which has been faultless so far.  However I dont seem to have any windows 10 icon that will allow to hopefully upgrade ! Have I just to be patient and wait or is there something I need to do ?   i have  winodws 8.1 on it and really not a fan of it hence the not really using it that much. I still have over over 2 years left  weven though the lenovo site seems to think differently however I have proof from Fenwicks that says differently. Any help on this or advice would be great ! Many thanks  Robert

  • Upgraded to Windows 10 on Lenovo Ideapad p400 touch, screen went dim

Hello,I just installed the free Windows 10 upgrade on my Lenovo Ideapad p400 touch last night.  I woke up this morning and booted up my computer, and everything was fine until I attempted to change the brightness.  When I tried to do this, my screen went very dim, and now I can't adjust the brightness (and I can't read my screen well, either).  Normally, I would install/reinstall the video driver in order to fix this problem (recommended for other users with similar issues), but I currently do not see a Windows 10 version of the driver I need on the Lenovo website.I was wondering:a) if/when a new driver would be available to install (if that's the recommended solution)b) is there something else going on?c) Windows 10 allows you to revert back to Windows 8.1 within the first month of use.  Should I just do this?d) Is the p400 touch capable of running Windows 10? Why or why not?Thank you!

Hello.  I also have a Lenovo Ideapad p400 touch.  Screen also went dim on me. In Windows 8.1 just uninstalling graphic's driver worked.  It was Control Panel, Device Manager and then Display Adapters.  That doesn't work with Windows 10. The other solution of rebooting and press the increase brightness key at the Lenovo logo somewhat works but it doesn't turn the brightness all the way up. So I found this worked for me: Go here:  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-p-series-laptops/ideapad-p400-touch-notebook/downloads/DS031547 And just download and reinstall the old graphics driver for Windows 8.  That finally got me back to maximum brightness.

  • Problem with viewing video upload on Ideapad Yoga 11S ultrabook

Hi all, this may be a very basic question as I am not very technical...  I have just today started using a Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 11S.  (It is Windows 8 with basic Office for home and students loaded on.
I've been sent a video quick link via Media Silo I need to watch and make notes from. For some reason, I cannot maximise the video so it fills the IdeaPad screen.   The bottom half of it is off screen so I cannot ff or rw or use the slide to change position.
    Any suggestions most welcome.
    Guy

    Hi guyjevans,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that the online video is not playing in full screen mode in your Yoga 11s Laptop, please ensure that the display driver is installed and the browser is installed with Adobe Flash Player so that the online video feature can be used, below is the link to download the display drivers if it is not installed and also the link to download the adobe flash player for the computer.
Display Driver for Windows 8 (64-bit)
    Adobe flash player download
    Hope this helps!!!
Do post us back if the issue persists.
    Best Regards

  • Intel Rapid Start on Ideapad Yoga 13

Hi and thanks for reading my message:
i have a problem with the Intel Rapid Start Technology on my Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13:
The IRST is not automatically starting after Boot. The "Intel Rapid Start Technology Service" Service is installed and set to automatic start and it's running without problems but the IRST Manager is still not running (cant's see it in the system tray of the WIndows 8 Desktop Mode). When i run it manually by calling the "Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager" (configuration window pops up), it works fine.
What i try to achieve: because IRST is almost as fast as sleep mode, i would like to use it always instead of sleep mode, so i have set the Timer in the ISRT manager to enable and 0 Minutes. So with the IRST running in the background, it is working to go to IRST Hibernate directly after sleep mode. But when i restart my Yoga, its not working any more
    What i tried to do:
    Install the IRST 1000 times
Re-Create the hibernate partition (using this manual) (id=D3BFE2DE-3DAF-11DF-BA40-E3A556D89593)
Check ISRT is enabled in BIOS
Do you have any other idea what to do?
Thank you very much for your help and best regards!
    Manuel

That limited thing has started happening to me as of a couple days ago too.  No wifi issues before that.

  • Lenovo ideapad u510 w/Fedora 19 Live USB black screen

I am having difficulty with a new lenovo ideapad u510. I am attempting to install Fedora 19 using the Fedora 19 xfce spin Live USB image, and the drive boots properly, but upon selecting the option to start Fedora 19 Live, I get a gray screen with a cursor on the top left, then two error messages that look almost idential to each other flash by, the Fedora logo starts to load, and then the screen goes blank.
The part of the error message that I was able to make out was "...failed to enable the AA(?????)"
I have attempted to turn the monitor back on using the F9 key's alternate function, and I have tried booting from DVD with the same result. Once the screen goes blank, it stays that way until I force the machine to shut down. Once I've forced the shutdown, the computer, upon turning back on, goes to the blank screen again without even loading the lenovo BIOS screen. Even the 'novo' button will not load any options for me.
My UEFI is set to Legacy / Legacy First, although the EFI setting is still Windows 8, with no alternate options. I've looked all through my settings in every tab of the BIOS and I can't find anything further to disable secure boot.
Is anybody able to assist me in installing Fedora?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Follow up:
I have tried more flavors of linux, and over the course of doing that, I have discovered that after choosing to boot a linux live disk, the screen does not instantly go black as I had thought with the Fedora installation, but rather is reduced to 1/4 the physical size of the screen for a few seconds, then goes blank. After it goes blank, apparently, the live OS continues to load, as evidenced by the loading .wav sounds that play even after the screen is blank.
More and more I'm convinced that the graphics hardware is causing problems, but the lenovo site is completely silent about the specifics of the graphics, saying only that the hardware is nvidia GeForce series.

  • Replacing the screen of Lenovo ideapad s300

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo ideapad s300 and I am trying to replace it's screen. However, in order to take out the screen I am unable to find the screw covers? Anyone know how to remove the screen of this laptop?

    Hello.
If you contact Apple Support at 1-(800)-MY-APPLE, they can get something together for you and tell you the steps to get your iPod fixed. Also, I found this link-
    http://www.ipod-lcd-repair.com/
That website repairs iPods, so that might also be an option.

  • Lenovo Ideapad U410 scrolling down with a grey screen

    HI,
I just recently purchased the Lenovo Ideapad U410 and sometimes when I try to scroll down with both fingers, a grey line and background bar starts to come down and encompass the whole screen, rendering the screen and all my apps useless. And then on the right side, it shows the time and date squished togetherand I can't seem to get out of it unless I go back to the start and then open the desktop again.
Why is it doing this and is there a way to stop it because when it scrolls all the way down, the laptop won't work and if I don't touch the touchpad, bubbles start forming forming as if it's a screen saver.
    Thanks

It sounds like your hard drive is failing or has failed. It cannot repair the disk and is suggesting you back up and format the drive. Do you already have a backup?
