Lenovo K3 Note - Firmware

I have owned many Lenovo products which I have been very happy with, being satisfied with all their products I decided to purchase a K3 Note mobile phone. I was disappointed to find it was hacked when I purchased it and when I questioned the seller, he said it was because Lenovo don't have Google Play installed by default, so they had to hack it to have it installed, otherwise we would not be able to install any apps, etc. In addition I have spent hours trying to find a genuine Lenovo firmware that I can use to have a nice and clean installation, but found nothing on Lenovo sites, so I have some questions hoping someone from Lenovo can answer please:1) If this is a Lenovo Product and is being sold in Western countries, where is the (English) firmware and where do I get updates? btw the firmware currently installed does not allow for SW updates, no idea why.2) Why did Lenovo exclude Google play in the initial release of the firmware?3) Is this phone really a Lenovo product? the hardware is great but the software is very questionable I think. I look forward to your responses.Kind Regards

entire sound system went down after the update

Hi fantomas007(That's an interesting name )
    Welcome to the Community.
The Lenovo K3 note is meant to be sold and used only in China. It's a China only model.
Chinese models are only in Chinese&English, don't have GAPPS/GMS(Google services like the Play Store/Not allowed in CN) and are full of Chinese apps(A lot of Chinese...I know).
To cover a wider International market some sellers modify the official Chinese firmware and add GMS/multilingual support.
In this forum we usually deal with ROW/Rest of the World models and as consequence don't have much info on CN only devices.
As soon as I get/find any info I'll let you know.Ok?
    Regards.

  • CWM recovery and Rooting Lenovo K3 Note K50-t5

HOW TO ROOT THE LEVONO K3 NOTE K50-T5 This How To describes how to put the ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery onto the Levono K3 Note Model K50-t5 and, using CWM Recovery, root it. The method was generated from notes that I took of Root Junky’s YouTube video on the subject and what I actually carried out on my Lenovo. I fully acknowledge Root Junk’s methodology and prior work. Other similar methods exist but I had trouble with fully understanding the steps. DisclaimerAny modification to firmware and OS could possibly brick the device and neither the author or the web sites assumes any responsibility or loss from your actions. You take all responsibility for the outcomes of following the following procedures. I would also like to know why the product is not here on Lenovo Support.  I purchased mine from Vickmall EU wharehouse (#link_below) where it says "Newest 1520 multi-language rom".  Vickmall does not mention on the site anything about it being a "china only" phone, and obviously don't consider it to be since they converted it over to multilingual.  In any event, it should be formally supported by Lenovo, especially since the phone did not come with any software or English documentation.  I think Lenovo Support needs to make whatever ROM Vickmall used and instructions on how to use it for others who don't have access to it.

  • Lenovo G50 NOT plugged in, but 'charging'.

I just bought a new Lenovo G50 about a month ago. The only strange problem I have picked up in the last 2 weeks, is that even when my notebook is NOT plugged into the charger, it still indicates that it is charging from an incompatible power source. Where my previous notebook, warned me on 10% battery left, my new Lenovo does not, because it is under the impression that it is 'Charging'.
The battery life is not really affected and when plugged in, it charges the battery normally.
Can anyone help me with a solution, before I take it back to my supplier. I know simple fixes like this can take up to WEEKS if I have to take it in.
    Thank you in advanced.

    hi dentonbronkhors,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    Can you try these steps:
Open Device Manager and look Under Batteries, Right click and uninstall the item Named Microsoft SCPI compliant control method battery.
Shut the computer down instead of doing a restart like the computer ask.
Now Remove the Battery and Unplug the Ac adapter, Hold the poer button down for at least 10 sec.
Turn the computer back on and See if that resolves the issue.
    Let us know your findings
    Cheers!

  • INFO - Lenovo A936, note 8

hi @ all first of all sorry for my bad english!!!
So... i bought my lenovo A936 note 8, 2 months ago and i'm satisfied.
I have some question for you : - since first time i turn on phone I have been getting been getting a 'Unfortunately, Settings has stopped.' error, when trying to simply open system update. Why? -  a lenovo official site about my phone? I think it's ridicolous i don't find any site for my Lenovo a936 - where i can find a recovery in english? mine is in chinese! Thanks in advance!!!

Lenovo A936 is sold in China or chinese speaking countries only. There is no English version for this model. The unit you bought is rooted and the ROM customised into English. I don't think it is upgradable. You can try your luck to find ROM in English in http://www.needrom.com/.

  • Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga

I am having a message that says "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message that appears after Windows 8.1 starts up. A similar sort of message appears before even Windows boots up, and I need to press the 'Esc' key in order for Windows to boot. This seems to have happened after a recent Windows update. I have uninstalled an reinstalled the Lenovo Power Management Driver but it does not appear to have fixed the issue. My BIOS is the latest version.
This issue is on my Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1.
    Any assistance is appreciated.
    Solved!

Reset simply does a circuit discharge, it doesn't wipe anything off your hdd.

  • Lenovo K3 Note, no 4G connection

I have purchased Lenovo K3 note from china. Before order it i had communicate with the support from this shop if 2G/3G/4G Network is supported in UK I received today 2 devices and have the same issue. There is no LTE connection, in mobile network settings, on preffered network type i have selected 4G/3G/2G auto. It is very strange that on preffered network all operators are in 2G/3G and not for 4G.I have downloaded the MTK Engineering Mode application and from there i selected LTE only at the network option. THere is no signal when i have the option for LTE only. Test again the SIM card in my old device and i have full LTE signal. Is there any option that i should change? I belive that LTE is locked either for UK operators either for Vodafoen UK Any help?

Looking on the Vodafone website it says they use 800mhz and 2.6 GHz here in the uk.I can't figure out what bands the k3 note supports though as it doesn't seem to be listed anywhere I've looked!

  • X200 brand new battery: "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached"?

    Hi,
I got a new 9-cell x200 battery from lenovo literally a few hours ago, and upon plugging it in Power Manager gives me the dang "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached" message... despite the battery being ordered directly from Lenovo! I've noticed that the cells in this battery are Panasonics instead of the Sanyos I got in my 6-cell included with my x200.
Why is it giving me this message, and how do I disable it (without getting rid of Power Manager)?
(To be honest, I'm more interested in the first question )

  • Power Manager Guage: Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached

I have a T60p Thinkpad  (WinXP) with a non-genuine Lenovo Battery.  Several times a session, a warning balloon pops up from the system tray Power Manager Guage that reads "Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached".  There is no way to close the balloon and if I try, it takes control of my browser and tries to sell me a battery.  Very heavy-handed marketing.
Is there any way to disable this ballon, even getting into the registry?  I cannot buy a new battery and the ballon is quite distracting!
    Thank you

I just got an aftermarket battery, which I have no choice about because that is
our office supplier.  It is one thing to warn me ONCE about a possibly inferior
accessory.  IT IS ENTIRELY ANOTHER MATTER TO NAG ME CONSTANTLY ABOUT IT.
So  I have to choose between beging nagged by the "not a genuine Lenovo
battery" message all the time, or disabling all battery charge control by exitting the application.
Thanks a lot Lenovo.  Everyone else in the office has already gone to other brands.
If this is the way Lenovo treats their customers, then this is the last Thinkpad I will ever
    buy too.
