  • Lenovo yoga problems with keyboard

Hi. I have a problem with the pop up keyboard when it is in tablet mode. The problem is that the keyboard does not automatically pop up, when I want to write something. I have to press the keyboard logo on the right side os the screen every time I want to write and remove it the same way.
    Can anybody helt me?

i think the keyboard only opens automaticaly, when you use the iexplorer in tablet mode or apps from the tile-site of win8.
as long as you work via desktop, it doestn comes up automatically.

  • Satellite Pro A100 - Resume from Sleep with IR multimedia remote control or keyboard

    Hi Guys
I have dedicated my Satellite Pro A100 to be a media center that sits under the TV and can play networked media and DVD's etc.
    This is using Vista.
The set up I want is that the lid is shut 24/7 365 and when I want to use it I just press "SLEEP" or power button from the remote control or keyboard and it fires up ready for action.
POINT TO NOTE. I successfully did this with my OLD Tecra M3. However was too slow for media center and vista
However I have set the power settings as I want etc, shut lid do nothing, and enabled hybrid sleep (preferred sleep).
Now I CAN put it to sleep with the multimedia keyboard or remote control. BUT can I wake it?...NO!. I have thought of everything possible....gone to device manager and made sure all the options for the remote and the keyboard and the USB reciever are set to WAKE FROM SLEEP. The only thing to wake it is the power button - which defeats the purpose of it being sat there like a dvd player.
when awake the remote and the keyboard function fine - I have made sure the batteries are recharged.
I have the latest BIOS and speaking of BIOS's there are no S3 power options I noticed , but then there werent on the M3 and that worked fine in terms of sleep and waking with the IR.
I come to the forum because although I know some older systems will not work with vista - IF the M3 will work - I am sure the twice as new and powerful A100 will.
Has anyone had this before - what have I missed it must be staring me in the face.
    Thanks in advance.
P.S Also of late the touch pad has been playing up i.e the left and right clickers swap function so one second your working as normal next minute you left click and the right clikc menu appears. Reset BIOS - rebuilt - reinstalled synaptic - no difference.
When I worked in support for a big company when this started happening it wasnt good news - is it bad news?

    Hi
Im not quite sure why it doesnt on your Sat Pro A100 and why it works on M3.
But fact is that Satellite Pro A100 doesnt support the FIR (Fast InfraRed) port and the
Tecra M3 supports the Fast InfraRed port.
Maybe this could be the reason why you cannot enable the notebook using the infrared multimedia remote control.

  • Bug report: A keyboard layout is incorrect on the remote with Japanese keyboard

This is a bug report for Microst Remote Desktop
    ===================================================
    ## Summary
A keyboard layout is incorrect on the remote with Japanese keyboard
    ## Version Information, I tested

        * Case 3
            * Windows Server 2012R2 Datacenter Japanese
    ## Detail of bug
When login from Mac OS X with Microsoft Remote Desktop, the keyboard layout is always incorrect on the remote.
The client machine have a built-in keyboard of JIS 106 layout,
and the primary language is set to Japanese.
But on the remote, the keyboard layout is US 101.
So a input of Shift+2 does not result " but @.
I've seen the above behavior on the 3 remote enviornments described the above.
This bug did not occcur with Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.1.1, even if the system language is English and keyboard layout is Japanese.
    ## Captures
I've took some of screen captures.
I'm sorry for the capture includes Japanese words, so I added description in English.
    Capture 1:
    Mac OS X Keyboard Setting
    Capture 2:
    Windows Server 2012R2 Screen Keyboard
    Capture 3:
Windows Server 2012R2 Screen Keyboard, with a additional registry key configured.

This bug also affects the Canadian English settings.  If the client is set to Canadian English with a US keyboard the remote server is setup using a Canadian French keyboard.  Using the language selection in the toolbar you can temporarily correct
the problem but the keyboard resets to french at the most inopportune times.  The was a problem in the earlier RDP client and was fixed so it's sad to see it reoccur in the new client.

            * Windows Server 2008 R2 (English)
        * Case 3
            * Windows 8.1 (Hungarian)
    ## Detail of bug
When I connect to the listed remotes the client sets the keyboard layout to Latvian which is a completely different layout than Hungarian (not even close...).
    - On Windows 8 if I set the language on the login screen it stays on that language after the login.
    - On Windows Server 2003R2 and 2008R2 even if I set the language at login it will switch back to LV after the login.

Please allow the users to set the correct "target" language on connection basis because the automatic method the app use to determine that is unreliable.

  • G500 - switch functionality of Multimedia keys with F1-F12?

    Hi all.
I have just bought the G500 and I'm getting really annoyed by the keyboard.
It has "great" multimedia keys as the main keys instead of usual F1-F12 keys. To access their functionality you must press Fn+appropriate key. The problem has been described here many times. But no solution works for G500.
    I have tried:
enter BIOS (no such option for keyboard)
install Lenovo Slim USB Keyboard application (runs, but the option selected have no effect)
install Lenovo Ultraslim Plus Wireless Keyboard & Mouse Driver application (do not run at all - just brings me to the desktop and do nothing)
I'm wondering if someone experience such problems too, and if there is some solution. I'm not able to use the computer since I use a lot of application depending on the functional keys and if there is no solution I will have to buy another computer, and it would not be Lenovo anymore as this really disappointed me:-(.
Btw: does anyone at all really like new keyboard?
    Thanks,
    Michal Linhart

    hi Zoka17,
You concern might be similar to this thread
        http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/IdeaPad-Y-U-V-Z-and-P-series/How-do-I-invert-the-F-keys-and-the-Fn-keys-...
If you don't have the setting in the BIOS under Configuration TAB named "Hotkey"
then I'm afraid on that thread they had to use a Software to remap few of the FN keys and reverse it.
I'm not sure how or if this will help, but give it a try,

  • My remote iPad keyboard stopped working

My remote iPad  keyboard stopped working

    Any update?
Apple Support always say reboot your computer, unplug the keyboard, the keys are broken, ... But I bought 2 of these keyboards and they have the same frustrating problem. When you unplug them and plug them back they STOP working sometimes for long time or sometimes you have to hit the keys for a while to get the keyboard back.
Since about a year I just let my mb air powered on with my keyboard because I need my keyboard to work. (and it's hugely frustrating to start your day trying to get your keyboard working)
I just bough a mb pro late 2013 and the keyboard do not work at all.
    All the best,

I have a macbook connected to LCD TV with HDMI connection .
Is there a way to use Apple remote with display closed .
examples of using apple remote with display closed would be
    (1) waking the macbook with apple remote
    (2) putting the macbook to sleep with apple remote
    (3) Shutting down the macbook with apple remote
    (4) accessing front row (using LCD TV as Display )
while doing this should I connect the macbook to power source.
please point me to any documentation / solutions available .
I don't have any external keyboard or mouse connected to macbook . I just want to use Apple remote to do the above functions .

    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi suresh,
    as mentioned here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286
    and
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300562
you must have to have a keyboard or mouse to trigger the macbook wake up from sleep when you close the lid.
usb mouse is not that expensive and you can start with that.

  • Where to buy multimedia remote control for Satellite A100-200 in UK?

    Hello,
I recently bought a refurbished Toshiba A100-200 notebook from John Lewis, which, due to being refurbished, did not come with the multimedia remote control and so, at the moment, there is a huge hole on the left-hand side where it should be.
Where can I buy a new one from and how much would it cost?
    Many thanks,
    Ian

    Hi
    > did not come with the multimedia remote control and so, at the moment, there is a huge hole on the left-hand side where it should be
At the left notebooks side the Express Card slot should be placed!!!
Express card slot is upper and PC card slot is lower!!!
The remote controller can be installed in PC card slot!!! Don't mix these both slots!
But only some models are optional provided with the remote control.
If you want try to order it from the ASP as suggested above
Please note that the remote control cannot be used if the notebook is running on battery only!!!
It must be connected to AC adaptor!

Use the uninstaller provided with the Sophos software. You can uninstall CUDA via the preference pane. Be sure you remove the com.nvidia.CUDA extension which is located in the /System/Library/Extensions/ folder. Not sure if Fan Control has an uninstaller so you will have to do it manually:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia
        9. Uninstaller
      10. Spring Cleaning
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.
Be sure to remove your two Login Items. Finally do this:
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade

Lenovo G560 - Issue with won't boot and black screen after HDD upgrade.
What happen: My laptop was working fine, no blue screen issue, no funny business at all. I bought a new SSD Intel 120 GB and thought it would be a good idea to replace the HDD. I shutdown and disconnected the power adapter, waited a couple of minutes and removed the battery. I opened up the back case and replaced the HDD. And put all the screws back and put the battery back in.
Problem: The very first time I turned the power on, nothing happens besides a black screen. I pressed the dvd drive it works and opens up and closes. I waited for about 30 mins and still has blac screen. When I mean black screen, no bios menu, no logo, just a black screen with the fan sound on.
    I have tried these:
    1. Unplugged everything - battery, adapter, and pressed the power on button for about 60 seconds, nothing, the laptop turns on with the LED display on for both on and battery LED's. But nothing but black screen, no sound of windows loading just the fan and black screen.
    2. I tried putting back my old 2.5" and nothing but black screen.
    Thoughts and suggestions?

    Hi Autoexit173,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
