Lenovo N500 - card reader - drivers issue?

Hello,
I tried to use my xD memory card in card-reader in Lenovo series 3000 n500, ns 4233-4AG.
Unfortunately, it isn't working. Other card types (SD, MMC) are working well.
What's the hell? In official spec. on Lenovo's site, this model is operating xD cards. Link: http://www5.pc.ibm.com/europe/products.nsf/$wwwPartNumLookup/_NS74Axx?open&OpenDocument&epi=web_expr...
Is it drivers problem? Where can I download valid, with xD support?

Hi: See if the windows 7 driver works for you... This package contains the driver for the JMB38X Card Reader Host Controller in the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. The JMB38X Card Reader supports the following media types: SD, MS, MMC, and xD. File name: sp45180.exe

    Hi:
    Try this driver.
If this driver doesn't work, and you want to run W7, then you will have to install W7 64 bit, for which there are graphics drivers.

  • Usb port/sd card reader recgonition issues after Yosemite?

I recently downloaded Yosemite to my macbook pro and hadn't noticed any issues till I tried to upload some photos. I usually just use the sd card reader but quickly found that each time I put an sd card in (I tried several just to make sure it wasn't an issue with my cards), there was no recognition at all, not in the left hand sidebar in the finder window or in the disk utility. I next tried out the usb ports with my ipod, external hard drive, and camera's usb cord. The first usb port is recognized in both itunes (when my ipod is connected) and in the disk utility (still not in the left hand sidebar finder window where I could just click on the device and see the contents it held like it usually has done in the past) however when I connect anything to the second usb port, I can hear the external harddrive revv up and my ipod starts to charge, but it isn't recognized in the computer by itunes or in disk utility. I'm not sure what to do since I did not back up my previous drive before updating my software and am a photographer who relies on being able to upload my photos on my computer. All my ports were working just fine before I updated this past week so I'm wondering if it has something to do with Yosemite?
I've made sure my external disk's option was checked in >finder>preferences, tried to reinstall yosemite, and have reset my PRAM and SMC and unfortunately found no difference.

I had this problem and don't at moment. Not sure of cause. Some have found that cleaning slot with compressed air or contact cleaner helps. Search Yosemine (this) forum for post headed "SD card reader does not work anymore" by GabTH (11/2/14) for a software fix. (Sorry, not a frequent user anymore and can't easily paste a link.)

  • Is There Updated Site For P2 Card Reader Drivers?

Hey my friend just got Final Cut 6 on his new macbook pro and he wants me to help him find the proper drivers needed for the P2 Card so he can take footage from the P2 and bring it in the computer via FCP. Is there a website that tells everything I need that might have been updated in the past year or so? Thanks.

You can copy the P2 files to your hard disk from your camera via Firewire,
and FCP can ingest them from there. In the Log & Transfer window,
click on the upper left-hand button "Add Folder" to search for P2 directories.

  • T530 SD Card reader not working

I've tried the general help but there is no SD reader in System>Disk Drives.  I've tried downloading the Ricoh driver, and installing it, but nothing.  The Lenovo Help just says there is a Base System Device that is not installed.  I am using Windows 7.  This is a 2359-4DU.  Lenovo updates doesn't say I need to update the card reader drivers.

Hello yohanonbenavrom. I understand you are experiencing issues with a memory card reader. I will provide the HP documentation to troubleshoot the issue. Please select the correct document based on your operating system:
    Windows XP and Vista: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=bph07910
    Windows 7: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c01564223
    Windows 8: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03453319
Please respond when you complete the troubleshooting. I look forward to your response.

  • Flex 14 SD card reader not working with larger cards on Windows 8.1

The card reader in my Flex 14 is behaving very oddly. When I insert a 16GB SDHC card it makes the 'USB inserted' noise and the card shows up under device manager but I can't access it through file explorer. The card reader works fine with smaller SD cards that I have. I tried the card in another, Win7 laptop and it worked fine.
I see a number of other people are having a similar problem and I have followed all of the troubleshooting advice I can find, but nothing is working. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
This is what I have tried:
    1. Leaving the card in the camera and attaching the camera via USB cable to the laptop: same result, noise, but can't access the card.
    2. Trying to reassign the drive letter through storage controller: it shows the card but if you right click it to assign it a drive letter it says the 'file is missing'.
    3. Downloaded the Win8.1 x64 driver from Lenovo website and installed. This stopped the card being recognised at all.
    4. Installed the Win8 xc4 driver: this got me back to the noise but no action stage.
    5. Updated Windows.
    6. Uninstalled and reinstalled the driver numerous times both with the card inserted and without it and with restarting the computer after unistall and after reinstall.
    7. Ran Ubunutu from a live USB: This allowed me to see the card and copy its contents to the laptop's HDD.
So it seems to be some incompatibility between the Lenovo drivers and Win8.1. Potentially it's to do with the USB drivers rather than the card reader drivers as the result when using the USB cable and the camera was the same as putting the card in the card reader. Is there a way to update these?
Any other troubleshooting steps I could take?
    Thanks.

    What size are the cards?
Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Still trying to get my memory card reader to work (H520)

    Hello, all,
I see in Lenovo support that there are two card reader drivers updated for win 8.1. I wonder if that is why my card reader does not work.
How do I know what card reader is installed in my H520?  I can't findit listed in device manager.

I restarted. That helped. But I deleted the DVD files a few restarts ago and it didn't do anything. Is there anything in the Disk Utility that I'm supposed to be doing? I downloaded the Omni Sweeper and that's doing its thing. Also the Omni Sweeper says my home folder is using 174GB which is just not possible since I only have 120GB

  • SD card reader prob with L530 on Win 7

this forum is so crowded, incredible. sorry to say that. have a serious prob with the integrated SD card reader with my L530 on Win 7:
    - not showing in device manager with/without card
    - not showing in explorer, when card inserted (tried different cards, no worries)
    - installed all available lenovo&win7 card reader driver, no change
    - not even LED light flickering or anything, just off, no function
    - no option in power management to enable card reader (as suggested in some forums)
would be a shame if i couldnt use the in-built lenovo hardware.
    thanks for help
    klingsor

    Hi, klingsor
I would firstly make sure that the Card Reader is enabled in BIOS. This can be done by entering BIOS (hit Enter at splash screen, then hit F1 when the menu pops up.) From here, select Security and then I/O Port Access. Make sure the Card Reader here is set to Enabled.
I would also recommened making sure your BIOS has been updated, as this can sometimes cause some issues with peripherals not working as intended. The latest version can be found here.
    Best,
    Adam

  • Pavillion g7-1070 US - card reader not working

Should this card reader have a problem reading an 16 GB Extreme HD video SDHC

There was a known issue where SDHC cards greater than 4GB were not getting detected/working on Vista and XP where Microsoft has released a windows update to fix it.
In case you are using windows 7 ;  is the card reader on your Notebook not reading any memory cards or only this specific SDHC memory card? FYI, the card reader on your notebook supports following formats
    MultiMediaCard
    Secure Digital (SD) Memory Card
Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) Memory Card
Also, please ensure you install latest card reader drivers from here on your Notebook.

  • MacBook Pro won't mount mxf card reader

Hi - I have a brand new MacBook Pro.  I need to import some footage on MXF cards.  I usually use Content Browerser to do this.  I have a card reader and thunderbolt cable which work on another MacBook Pro.  But it will not mount the card reader at all.  I can't see the files or device.  Is there something else that I need to install for the card reader to be able to show up?

sorry SxS cards with mxf files obviously... I've downloaded and installed the SxS card reader drivers and UDF drivers and download and install the FCP X integration plugin
    and it won't mount

  • Cannot update Ricoh Multi Card Reader

    Hello All,
I was updating Ricoh Multi Card Reader drivers on my W520 and the installation was not successful: It installed the driver, asked to restart PC, then I saw a message "installing new drivers". After all, a message "unsuccessful installation - device unplugged" popped up. How can I plug it or switch it ON?
I even cannot see Ricoh drivers under 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers'.
Any suggestions how to fix that?
    Thanks!

A very very good question. I will check to see what answer you get.
Drivers and updated drives as well as released BIOS upgrade should be certified and guaranteed to work. I have seen cases where that is not the case. This is a new on. I am currently holding off on my BIOS update since there is no response about the 1.41 release. I don't want to brick my MB accidentally.

  • Ideapad U160 - Internal Card Reader Issue After Sleep

    Hi All.
I've just purchased a Lenovo U160 and I've not been able to solve an issue with the internal card reader. It's a "Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader" internally wired to the motherboard.
When I got the laptop, I put a Momentus XT in it and installed Windows. I've tried using the drivers that were included on the Lenovo recovery partition, the ones on their website, and the ones direct from Realtek with no success.
The problem is, when my laptop resumes from sleep mode, I get a fair few "new USB device" noises and about the same number of "USB device not recognized" errors. If I look in the device manager when this happens, the card reader is no longer there, and I have an "Unknown Device".
After a shut down, or a reboot, it's back again.
I've tried another clean install of Windows but I'm still having the same issue (I've applied KB974476 and KB978258 before installing the drivers).
There are no sleep options in the BIOS, it's very basic. I am running out of ideas..
    Any thoughts?

  • Can't find drivers for memory card reader

I downgraded my laptop to Windows 7 and now recently i did a clean install again, and i can't find the card reader driver again to read sd cards, i tried using hp site to recognize my hardware and they say " there is no drivers for your product" or something like that, which is weird because i know that there is many drivers for Windows 7 i even downloaded some a long time ago...i think Hp Support Solutions Framework is broken, and Hp Support Assistant software for pc don't return me drivers too...

  • Macbook Pro - SD Card Reader Issues Solved!

I recently purchased a gently used, early 2011 MBP. I've had it for a few months, but I did not try using the SD card reader until last week... so much for kicking the tires. Long story short, the darn thing did not recognize or mount one single SD card out of a handful of cards, and at least 3 different card manufacturers all used with my Canon DSLR. I searched the net trying to find a solution and tried everything from sticking the card in at a some strange and ridiculous slant to shutting the computer down three different ways and resetting the System Management Controller (SMC); nothing worked. So today I spent 25 minutes or so chatting with an apple care specialist and they (Jim the apple care guru) finally came up with a solution, even though I'm sure neither one of us knows exactly why it worked. So here goes...
Put your SD card in a external card reader, once it's mounted go to disk utilities and reformat (erase) the drive to Mac OS Extended. Take it out of your external reader and put it in the built-in reader on your Mac. Now, of course, it will no longer work in your camera or most other devices so you'll have to format it again in your device of choice. However, here's the kicker... once I did l all of that and took some quick pics, I put it back in my MBP and it popped right up even after a reboot. But wait there's more.... I then put the SD card in my wife's work laptop (PC running Win8) and played with the files for a bit, then stuck it back in the Mac and it still recognized it. So there goes the "windows screws up the formatting myth).
So naturally I assumed that I would be forced to go through this double formatting process for all of my SD cards (and I have a lot), but then it happened! A Christmas miracle in October. I tried a second card, and then a third and a fourth and a fifth, etc... AND now they ALL pop up just like they should. Without reformatting or any other humanly changed processes. Yep... There you have it, it makes no sense. But it works ;)
Somehow formatting just one card in the card reader "woke up" the whole process, almost like my MBP was like, hmmm I was wondering what you kept sticking inside that's slot of mine...
Hope this helps someone. Sorry for the rant :)

Anyone else with card reader issues should read this page. Just because your card reader doesn't appear to be working or has mysteriously dropped off your system doesn't necessarily mean a logic board replacement. I've repaired several portables over the years that had been quoted for costly logic board replacements, when in fact the failures were relatively easy to resolve once you understood the real problem.
It's common belief a PRAM or SMC reset should fix all hardware glitches but sometimes it just doesn't go deep enough, as I found out with my 2011 MBP. Simply removing the battery was all it took to resurrect my seemingly dead card reader, when PRAM and SMC resets failed to have any impact on the problem.
