Lenovo p780 queries

Can someone please assist me know about the below in p780 mobile :
1) What is the latest firmware ? After the latest firmware, are there any heating problems
2) Does the camera support HDR mode ? If you don't know about that, can you please put some screenshot of camera app
3) Does the earpiece have really low volume when on calls ? or speaker have low volume when playing music ?
4) Any problems with network / call ?
5) Is there any plan for normal kitkat update (not Chinese rom or rooting etc)
6) Will Lenovo support this phone with bugs update ??? As S860 is already in market.
7) Does the screen have dead pixels ?
8) Does it support Tata Photon data card and wireless mouse (where I can right click on web pages) ?
9) Does it have / support Secure IT App ? or any other security App ?
10) Does it have Route66 App ? Any other default app available ?
11) Any other problems ?

You don't ask much do you!
1. For ROW it's 124 dated 3 April 14. No heating issues here after updating.
2. Yes, it has HDR (hint: stop being lazy Google is your friend).
3. Not for me. You can disable the smart sound thing if you have problems. Speaker is nice and loud too but is on the back of the phone so it's low when put on a surface.
4. None here but YMMV and you might need to flash a new modem depending on your network.
5. The Chinese version is out now (VIBE) so I would expect an official ROW version to be made. Lenovo have said they're "looking into it".
6. They have been good so far. ROW has been updated from 110 to 124 via several updates. They will be keen to push their other phones though so who knows. How long is a piece of string?
7. None on mine.
8. No idea. Seriously dude, if you wanna use a mouse with your phone, you need a laptop not a phone.
9. SecureIT was not preinstalled on mine but is freely downlable from the app store along with other Lenovo IT apps (ShareIT etc).
10. Yes, it has a Route66 preinstalled by default.
11. The notification LED only works for missed calls and SMS. It doesn't work with email, facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, Gmail or anything else. Why? Because Lenovo hates each and every single one of you and refuses to fix this problem. If you want a working notification LED that's actually useful and fit for purpose, buy a Samsung or LG.

Lenovo P780 suddenly rarely has signal

Hi! First of all, I read a lot of threads in this forum and no, those didn't help me.
I bought a Lenovo P780 in February, ROW version (if I remember ROW123 4GB), imei starts with 860. I installed a custom rom (I checked and it is for this ROW) and it worked fine. One day in May I noticed that I got no signal. Then it came back. Than it went away. It is still the problem of course.
I never dropped nor flooded the phone. I tried installing other GSM modems as people on forums suggested, I tried a lot but none of them worked. I was angry so I took it apart, and saw that the outer shell of the antenna cable was damaged, so I ordered a new one, but it didn't help. I checked the whole PCB under a magnifying glass so maybe I would find any sign of damage so then I can replace the faulty component (I have access to do that), but I found nothing.
I tried it with different SIM cards. Then I found out, that in the Settings menu in the about phone section you can see the exact signal strength (it usually says 0dBm 99 asu which is absurd). You can only access it when you have a SIM card in the device but when you are in, you can take it out and you can still see the signal strength. It sometimes finds signal, but it is very rare.
What should I do? I have no money to replace the motherboard, and of course I have no warranty. Is there a chance that my problem is software-based, or it is surely hardware stuff? What can I do?

I have the same problem. Have you found any solutions?
Both sims had full signal (cosmote and vodafone) and everything worked fine.
Suddenly one day none had signal. If I only leave one sim in the phone sometimes it has full signal, but most of the time low or no signal.

Irritating bugs in Lenovo P780

Hi
I have a 8GB Lenovo P780 phone model no P780_ROW and Android 4.2.1 build no P780_8G_ROW_S123_131231. I am happy overall with my purchase but there are a few irritiating bugs.
Calendar is buggy. I have synced my calendar to three accounts and the stock calendar shows wrong time compared to the desktop. Also the ToDo alert gives alert at wrong times ex: i get an alert at 6 AM for an event scheduled at 8:30 with alert time set to 15 mins. And the events are not sorted by time and hence very difficult to understand
The stock email app does not mark Office 365 exchange emails as read when i read them on the device
Any thing i can do short of using alternate apps?

Hi. my p780 is running on 4.4.2 KitKat build p780_ROW-S227_141121. I do not get email repeat alerts - it sounds only once for an incoming mail and then is silent for any number of mails until I open the mail box. Then the next mail is alerted and subsequent are silent. Maddeningly, I miss out on mails leading to embarassment as this is also my official mail device. Anyone has a solution to this?

Lenovo p780 internet connectivity problem with whatsapp

Two days ago I got Lenovo P780 mobile in india.
my model number is P780_ROW
android : 4.2.1
baseband version : P780.V20
BUILD NUMBER 780_8G_ROW_S118_130816
I have 2g mobile connection from vodafone. I can see it is connected to internet, am able to login in google play store, facebook but when I start whatsapp, it just cant connect to network?
What can be problem? Shall I upgrade my firmware?

Anuj, so you are saying that I am able to browse net and do other stuff on the internet and still my APN settings are not correct?
What you suggested is for Vodafone. What about Airtel? Kindly confirm. Thank you.

[Q]Problem with Bluetooth connection between Xiaomi Mi Band and Lenovo P780.

I bought Mi Band to my Lenovo P780 and I have connection problem. I have paired both devices and everything works well but 10-20 times a day connection is lost. And after I open Mi Fit, app try to connect with phone and do a sync but it can't (long time: "Connecting... Getting info from your band" and after: "Couldn't connect, pull down to retry."). Only after turning Bluetooth off/on app can connect to phone and do syncing. This is very annoying. Always after night the connection between Mi Band and phone is broken. What can I do about this problem? I need have a real-time notifications on Mi Band so I need have stable connection between phone and band all the time.
I have Lenovo P780 on 4.4.3 and Xiaomi Mi Band on firmware 1.0.9.0 + Tweaked Mi Fit with notify 1.2.922. But I tried also previous versions of Mi Fit - always the same result. And I tried on Nexus5 rom final, official Lenovo KK rom vibe, Alice Project 7.5 and Alice Project 8.0 roms - always the same result.
I tried on 2 other phones and bracelete isn’t broken. Everything is ok – stable connection.
Problem is in Lenovo. What should I do?

I have a better experience as my microsoft sculpt touch mouse now works fine - before it was always disconnecting.
Otherwise I have noticed the following with this new update:
- you have to update the bios version too to maximise the improvement
- regarding the special settings of my card, and after lots of test, my best setting is :
Antenna diversity type : 3 (before upgrade of bios, i had no wifi with 3 as value) - it seems it gaves me a slight enhancement
Bandwith: 20_40
Selective suspend : enabled (disabled doesn't change anything)
Selective suspend timeout: 30 (more doesn't change)
Wifi-config: wifi (that's the real trick, if set to Performance, the drop in performance is impressive)
in the meanwhile i was typing that i experienced a slight bluetooth connexion drop... less than before, but it's not totally fixed.
i think alas that the choice of the wifi card is just very bad. I ordered back in 2008 a profesional Dell laptop with a wifi n 2x2 450Mbits minipci. I expected that in 2012-13, an ultrabook without lan connexion and a ssd would at least provide a 2x2 (dual band) 300 Mbits wifi n... but here it's just the cheapest wifi n single band + bluetooth bundle which has been put. The worst is that's an economy of maybe 20€ which is ridiculous on a >1000€ machine.
Once the guarantee has passed, i think i'll upgrade my machine with a decent minipci wifi card and that's all. At least it seems that the dismounting of the Yoga 13 is quite well documented.

Lenovo P780 - Sim Card Issue

Hi,  I bought the lenovo P780 2 months back.  Suddenly, It is not able to detect any of my sim cards though the sim cards are active. Cant send any messages, make any calls. Says Emergency calls only.  Please suggest a solution.

Same issue was faced by me 4 months back in Dec'14, as my phone was in warranty hence fixes came free, but now from past month I am again facing the same problem but this time warranty had expired. I observed that both the time there was a screw near SIM which went loose. Issue with Microsoft Exchange Setup - Lenovo P780

Dear Lenovo Team,
I am setting up my office email address in my Lenovo P780.
I am recieiving mails properly and i have kept ON the option to sync Contacts, calender and Mails.
however, whenever i am doing a lookup from the office exchange server, it is showing the name only and not clicking on the name to see the details like phone number or email. I am unable to remote lookup a contact from my global directory.

I am only using only 1 sim card,
Play games fairly (Alsphat 7, Candy Crush),
Heavy wifi teathering at rate of 6GB per month.
Battery works fine wihch would last 2 days.
Its been working fine with following glitches till now, and bearing with it.
1) Phone hang when picking up calls.
2) Camera "panorama" does not function well (hang, picture does not stich properly)
compare to "Sony Xperia C" and my friend's "Lenovo K900".
3) Anyway to display "call duration summary" each time I made a call?
Now its beginning the "major problem"
Since 2 weeks ago, I have not installed anything. The last was Accuweather updates, because of "Current Location" widget which I like. Since yesterday, my phone unknowningly SHUT DOWN itself for few times in a day. Each time it did, it was in my pocket. I removed the simcard and rebooted it. Still failed to solve the problem. I missed 2 important calls because of my phone just shut itself off <without neither warning nor sound alert>.
Battery seems fine (slightly warm). I dont think it overheated.
Battery was at 75%
It happen on random from my experience.
noon till midnight with phone in pocket is perfect recipe for it to shutdown.
My question right now is... Why?

I am sorry to hear that. I did had problem. I sent it for warranty 5 months.
Ready in 1 month.

Lenovo P780 Kitkat 4.4.2 upgrade: Post problems and changes

1. New security system ( neither can be uninstalled nor disabled) actually speaking it is annoying to me. Now a days it is asking for Money Rs.53 for 30 days.
2. Very bad UI ( had to install NOVA Launcher to change it )
Does anyone know how to uninstall Lenovo Security. Please help me i dont want it anymore.

SecureIT is a completely free app.
The problem you are describing(virus database upgrade fee) is usually related with improper SU binary installation (rooted device loosing root access>CWM/TWRP re-rooting).That's why I asked about root access.In that case the solution was to uninstall and reinstall the app (ROOT needed).
The funny thing is that if you want to remove it you have to root the phone.

Important:If you remove SecureIT you won't be able to install future OTA updates.Suggest ''freezing'' it (ROOT needed).

Lenovo P780 - very weak network signal

very low/weak signal. always no network signal even in 3G COVERAGE. SOME area can reach 1 or 2 bar signal, but other phone with same network and same place got 3G and full signal. I had install signal booster, but nothing was changed. Thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem as well. I bought this phone from Malaysia, from a shopping outlet (Txxxx) and I am sure that it is original set with warranty. I use 2 SIMs, since it is dual SIM, dual standy but 1 pass then I can configure 1 SIM for data plan whereas another is for call and sms. It is cheaper for me. Both of the SIMs are from the same service provider. All of the time, SIM2 will lose connection when the signal is low (rural area, office area), it become "X". Then for sure it is not service provider problem as SIM1 is OK. I guess SIM1 has higher priority than SIM2. What I have to do to enable back SIM2 by turning off SIM1 and SIM2 in Settings then turn on SIM2 then SIM1. But once I turn off SIM1 (plane/flight mode), I can see that SIM2 is back to normal. The signal bar is full. I just guess that both SIMs might be fighting resources when signal is low and SIM2 will always lose out.Hi arj99, you are using1 SIM or dual SIM as I think might want to switch back to use 1 SIM only.It would be nice if there is a solution from Lenovo on as if a phone cant make call then it is kind of stupid as this is the basic requirement of a phone.

No Signal in Lenovo P780

I'm not getting the signal for any simcard in P780. Both the sim cards are working when inserted in any other devices. What should be a problem in the phone?

Can you tell me your firmware build number?Settings->About phone....
Is the phone new and had this problem from day 1?
Can you open the phone dialer and dial *#06#.By dialing that code your IMEI numbers should show up.
Are there any numbers(2 long numbers) shown?

Lenovo P780 dead after flashing...error 4032

Hi, i have a p780 smarthphone...i tried to change the rom using flash tools, i made the process well...then after finished the phone gone completely dead...now when i try to flash again there is always a flash tool error message "4032". I have look to many forums but i havent still found a solution to this problem. Please help Gabriel

@erdemmetin has solved the problem, here's the solution:
As i understand he couldn't get the result when using Windows 7. That's why he has changed the operating system to Windows 8. Then he installed the driver which the arrow shows in the picture. After the process he was able to flash same rom with SP Flash tool v3.1304.0.sn119.
