  • S10-3 Wireless - not working with Windows 7

Hi, I bought the S10-3 two days ago and decided to load windows 7 (ultimate). The load was smooth but after I had finished the wireless was not working nut the wireless light on the front of the PC was on. The first strange thing I noticed was Fn5 did not work so the only on/off control I had was on the side switch. I eventually fixed this problem by downloading the driver from the internet , the wireless is the Atheros AR9285. Everything was well and proceeded to download anti-virus and other software.
Then disaster, during the time of downloading windows had also been doing some updates and when the system restarted there is NO WIRELESS.
It appears on boot that the "wireless" light indicator is ON and when windows fires up it goes off, I checked in the boot and it is enabled, I checked the driver again but it is OK but windows says it is not switched ON but I have checked the physical switch and it is ON.
    Any ideas appreciated.
edit : correct machine model in postname

Hi and welcome, if all possible is switched on.. did you install the lenovo energymanagement ?
where you can switch (softwarebased) seperately wireless devices... if wifi still isnt work...
you have to bite in a sour apple and install windows 7 from a scratch again ... then first update all via windows updates , then ... install the lenovo energymanagement... , then, look in devicemanager if there is some questionmark ...  in normal case there is no need other driver to install...
and all should be working... simply install a antivirus-program.. and all your need other personal stuff...

My friend bought a U430 Touch with Windows 8. He hated Win 8 so I helped him downgrade to Win 7. Now the wireless dowsn't work. Ethernet works fine and we are able to get on the internet, but wireless does not work at all. I've been to Lenovo's site and downloaded the drivers from their support site, but nothing weems to work. Is there a special driver I'm missing?

It's possible that they are shipping with Intel only at the moment, but the Hardware Maintenance Manual lists two non-Intel cards: a Liteon, and a "non-Intel", whatever that means.

For the two options above:  Should be set as Disabled or Other OS
Under Boot Tab / Start up Tab
Boot Mode Should be set to Legacy
Boot Priority Should be set to Legacy First
UEFI Boot should be set to Disabled

Once everything are Set, make sure to save all changed by hitting F10 and Enter for Yes
After Hitting enter It will Restart and You will have to keep on tapping F12

Hi, i recently updated to Windows 10 and immediately noticed that the brightness of my laptop could not be adjusted. i had a similar problem when updating to Windows 8.1 but managed to solve it by downloading video drivers from the following link: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds031547  I tried the same method to solve my current problem but it only works temporarily, as the next time i turn my laptop on, i have the same problem. Is anyone experiencing the same problem and has anyone found a permanent fix, because it's getting quite annoying. Thank you.

  • Wireless not working in Windows XP Boot Camp

I've just installed Leopard and Windows XP Home/Boot Camp. Everything is working great except the wireless connection. I have an Airport Extreme(n) and all the Macs connect fine. A friend brought over his HP Notebook with XP and it connects fine to the network. The iMac with XP finds and connects to the network, but gives a warning "Limited or no connectivity." I don't think that it's properly assigning the IP address to the machine.
I'm using WEP security but I still have the same problem if I turn the security off. When I open Wireless Connection Network Properties in XP, it shows that the machine is using a Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter. Is that correct? All of the Leopard and Windows updates have been installed on the machine. Any ideas out there??
    Thanks in advance!

  • Wireless not working on windows xp sp2

Hey guys, I just installed windows xp sp2 on my mac, followed all the steps, installed all mac drivers... but i can't connect to my home network... I already rebooted my router, checked the filtering, everything is ok.
My network is available but when i try to connect it says that is not in range, but the signal is full.
Please help me, i really need to fix this
    Thanks

Are you using WPA2 for Wireless Security ?
If so, then you need a patch from Microsoft to enable WPA2 with XP SP2, which can be found on Microsofts Download site.
The SP3 for XP has that patch incorporated.

    Hi  sparhk, and welcome.
One of the Lenovo staff who frequents the forum put out a call to help you in a private forum.  I do a little Linux, so I poked into it.  To my amazement my first Google hit was your thread where you indicate you have solved the problem.  (At least, it _looks_ like you...)
May I respectfully suggest that a post back here indicating success would be a nice touch?  That way anyone who passes by looking for help with this issue will have a better chance of finding it.  For posterity, here it is (see post number 25):

  • Wireless Card does not work in Windows 8.1 for G585

I just wanted to inform someone that the wireless network card does not work in Windows 8.1 Preview. I suspect the driver needs to be updated. When I go to the Device Manager it appears as a Realtek device RTL8192DE instead of a Qualcomm device that does not start. I tried installing the latest driver from the website but it makes the computer crash (BSOD) when trying to reboot after the installation which makes the Windows 8 automatic recovery turn on and I had to restore the system to a previous state before the driver installation.
For now, I just refreshed my system back to Windows 8, instead of trying to use Windows 8.1 Preview .  If you have any suggestions, it would be great, otherwise I'll wait for a driver update.

  • HP B500 Wireless Bluethooth Adapter for HP Printer Not Working With Windows 8.1

I have been using the HP BT500 bluetooth Wireless adapter to print wirelessly to my HP Officejet Pro 8500 printer.  I have been using Windows Vista, but recently upgraded to Windows 8.1.  I learned after the upgrade that the HP B500 wireless bluetooth adapter is not compatable with Windows 8.1.  I have attempted to find a driver upgrade for the B500, but there does not appear to be one available.  I have also searched the HP site and other sites in an attempt to locate an alter wireless blotth adapter to replace the B500, but have again been unable to locate one.
Is there a wireless bluetooth apter that will allow me to print wirelessly to my HP Office Pro 8500 from my laptop?

    Hi @Raider83,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP B500 wireless bluetooth adapter for your HP Officejet 8500 is not working with Windows 8.1. I am sorry to hear this but happy to look into this for you!
I am not sure if you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit Operating System. But sometimes with Windows 8.1 you can use compatibility mode to install an older version of the driver. Which might help the situation. Here is a link to some other Windows drivers, HP bt500 Bluetooth USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter Drivers.
Once you got a driver downloaded, follow this guide, Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows, on how to install it using compatibility mode.  It is not guaranteed to work, but it is worth a try!
If you still need me to look for other bluetooth adapters, please respond with your printer's Product/Model Number. To find your printer's Product/Model Number follow instructions in this link. Finding Your HP Product Model Number. As there are multiple HP Officejet 8500 printers.
Thank you for posting, and have a nice day!

If you have the Intel Centrino N2230 Wireless + Bluetooth adapter, can you try to:
    1. Navigate to the Control Panel (large icon view) > Devices and Printers and try to pair a bluetooth device (i.e. Bluetooth Headset) and observe if it gets detected under the device list.
    2. If the Bluetooth Headset is listed but it's not working try toright click on it > choose Properties. On the bluetooth properties Window, go to the Services Tab and check all the appropriate bluetooth services.
