Can you take a photo of the damage? Once before I saw an LCD that arrived truly internally cracked. The ink was in a perfect circle, writing off any user fault.
In the worst case situation, it might be worthwhile to call Lenovo and purchase a new screen. If you purchase one through them, you can get warranty support for the new screen. I realize that is a terrible alternative, as you should not have to invest more money, but it is the cheapest route to get a functioning LCD.

  • Y50-70 4k lcd panel replacement - yellow issue

    Hi guys,
It has been 4 months since I bought my y50 with 4k display and still no solution for the yellow issue. I tried to call support and also to send it back and change it with the full HD model without any success as I bought it from john lewis store.
I'm really disappointed about all the support system..I'm going to fix it by myself.
Does anybody know where can I get a 4k compatible LCD panel replacement online??
    Thanks loads

    hi marcolino86,
Thanks for being civil and sorry to hear about your trouble.
Besides the SAMSUNG, 15.6 inch, LTN156FL02-L01 screen that's being used on the Y50-70  (see page 93 of the Y50-70 HMM), the only compatible UHD (3840×2160) panel that I've found is the SHARP, 15.6 inch, LQ156D1JX01 which uses the same Embedded DisplayPort (eDP) 4 lanes signal type but I haven't seen one went with this upgrade.
      - List of 15.6" 3840x2160 displays
Seing that you have the Y50-70 FHD model, you will also need to change the eDP cable to support UHD if you're planning to go for the upgrade.
       - Link to picture
Alternatively, you may also want to consider doing what others users did on their Y50 FHD model where they changed the stock TN display to an IPS display (see this thread)

No. I just got two of my X201 on my side and none of them have a gap in the bezels. And one of these two was a guinea pig for a panel swap so I ended removing and re-installing the bezel too many times. Still sits perfectly flat and with no flex or gap at all:

    That's more normal.

  • Lenovo G50-70 Laptop (59-417110) Ram Upgrade Issues

    I recently purchased Lenovo G50-70 Laptop (59-417110) and it has in-built 2GB DDR3 1600MHz Samsung RAM.
I have Windows 8.1 64 bit OS installed.
I had to increase the RAM capacity to 6 GB. Hence bought Kingston 4GB 1600MHz RAM - http://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/KVR16LS11_4.pdf
After installing additional 4 GB module from Kinston, windows is restarting after seeing logon screen by showing "Windows ran into a problem notification"
Is this RAM module compatible with this lenovo model? I had researched inside lenovo support and changed maximum memory from msconfig, changed power settings, still no use.
    What should I do now?

    hi deljojoseph,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Can you try removing the old module, the 2GB.
check if your system will run with just the New RAM.
    After that
Try it also with just the old RAM an check.
    Let me know your findings
    Cheers!

  • What's the latest Jan. 2010 spec LCD panel model #? (e.g. 9CBD, 9CA0, etc.)

Just wondering if anyone who has a 2010 assembled 13" MBP or recently warrantied MBP can confirm the latest Apple display spec model # (e.g. My MBP was built in Sept.09 and has a 9CBD panel) that is being used?
Got the dreaded light leak developing on the side and hinge edges of my MBP -- but considering that my colours/calibration are pretty much bang on for my eyes as well as the fact that I've painstakingly applied an Anti-Glare film 100% free of lint bubbles LOL -- my conundrum if the latest spec'd panels are really any better or if it's still a lottery on whether you get a good panel if replaced under warranty. The last thing I want is to go backwards in quality!
Also if you've gone through the warranty process I'm curious on whether you have any say on whether it is another 9CBD that goes in or if you can specify to them that you're only satisfied if a Jan. 2010 9CA0 (or whatever # it is) is put in?
I am planning to wait to see if Apple quietly updates the LCD panels in the MBP line at the Jan. 27 iTablet/iPhone OS4.0 event before taking it in anyways, but hopefully someone can shed some light into how Apple have been going about dealing with the light leak issues. Thanks again.

Thanks for your kind cmments matrixxzero. I agree rockykoston I will replace my keyboard eventually myself too, with all the stories here I'm terrified to hand my laptop into service, apart from not having the spare time, Idon't want it to come back scatched, damaged and/or unfixed. That doesn't augur well for Lenovo guarantees. I am fully cpable of servicing it myself but many customers aren't and shouldn't have to.
As I say the other issue is model lines. Our Chinese friends have proven they can maintain quality and innovate now but their shere manufacturing muscle means it's all too easy to have too many models and too many variants with too much crossover.
Why drop a great design like the Z710, only let down by a middling to poor Nvidia chip and introduce new 17.3" models with absolutely no maintenance covers and sealed batteries!! They should have upped the Nvidia chip (the same as the Y50) and a better WLAN card. Same with the 15.6" models - evolve the Z510 to have a case like the Z50 but the same or better components again. Similarly the Y50 should have been an evolution of the Y510 not a step down.
Lenovo has definitely gone cheap in the upper end of the consumer range, when they needn't as there are tons of cheap laptops from the brand.
Most of the reviews I came across for the Z510 described it as having very good build quality and since I changed laptops three times from the same store within my purchase period I had chance to compare closely, with at least Toshiba and Acer. I would not agree with these reviews it's OK but not great. The metal upper case fooled me a bit but it's less sturdy than a cheap i3 HP laptop it replaced. Again for around a $1000 it should be better.

  • Are T4X0s lcd panels a complete fail?

At first we had the "vertical band" in our displays:
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/t410s-vertical-band-in-my-LCD/td-p/245040 (12 pages)
And now, people are coming up with bright spots on their displays. Some of the users already replaced their displays before due to the "vertical band"!
    http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T4-T5-und-neuere-T-Serie/T410s-Wei%C3%9Fe-Flecken-auf-dem-Display/td-p/4... (german)
I know those T4X0s series ThinkPads are thin as hell. But they break much too often. Lenovo has to find a solution for this. A friend owns his T410s for 5 months now and it's the second time he has to carry in his ThinkPad due to display issues.
Just wondering, when the first thread with desperate T420s owners will emerge... Is this really such a hopeless situation?

My T400 has had a bright spot since about the first week, so issues might not just be with T4x0s. I haven't had a chance to ship it back yet to have it fixed (ship it as it is under 3yr warranty) as the machine is in constant use.
While my T420 was being worked on recently (on-site service) I asked the tech about display issues. He also services Sony and other models. According to the tech, he sees display problems more often in other brands of laptops. He said that it generally happens to students or other highly mobile people, and they notice it after the machine is removed from a backpack or other bag. He finds these odd as the lcd panel will be spiderwebbed or have other issues but the glass/ plastic in front of the panel will have no damage. He blames the trend of thin & floppy displays for these issues.

  • LCD panel type?

Does anyone know what kind of LCD panels were used in the iMac G4 17 1.25GHz? TN, IPS, *VA?
I'm looking towards upgrading to a new machine, and just want to know what kind of panel type I'm used to now.

    Hi
Thanks for the response. No, I am curious about what panel type is used; TN, S-IPS, S-PVA etc.
I purchased mine in late 2003, but the lcd panel was damaged in 2007 and defective/not used since then. I remember the panel display did not exhibit the "dirty look" of later/current generations of LCD panels coming from the antireflective coating, thats why I am curious about what panel (type/manufacturer) it is.
If I open it, I wonder if I could find any of this information. Or maybe I should call Toshiba and give the type and serial and they could look it up.
    Thanks.

  • X1 carbon 3rd gen, lcd panel upgrade

Hello,I have a X1c 3rd gen with the FHD TN-panel. I don't like this panel very much, and would like to upgrade it. What options do I have, and where do I find the parts? If at all possible I would like to get the WQHD with touch panel. Can I install that on my X1c?Second option would be to get the non-touch WQHD IPS screen.  Thanks,Jonte

There are no panels manufacturer p/ns or Lenovo service p/ns (FRU) on the site. So, if that site clames panels compatibility with x1c gen3, the IPS screen looks like a proper choice, its price matches the such screens.
My only question is a screen surface type. X1C FHD non-touch screens laptop supports are anti-glare (have a look at the fru_bom file above), while the site promises glossy surface for the IPS screen. At the same time the IPS screen at the bottom (out of the stock) is matte. So, obviously it's needed to request the panels manufacturer p/n and Lenovo FRU the site offers..

  • Light leak (bleeding) theory sponge gasket around lcd panel . Apple fix?

    Hi
been looking at the light leak issue crop up on the forums and this may have already been suggested.
But if you look at the ifixit teardown and the part of them lifting up the digitser:
    http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/OtgrusGS6MXm5tMA.huge
You can see apple chose to use a sponge gasket around the display right on the LCD bezels edge!
now anyone whos worked with laptops repairing them (myself) and has fitted a raw LCD panel knows that any pressure on the LCD steal bezel will cause the backlight to bleed through, much like if you pressed an uncoverd LCD screen with your finger.
Now whats to say this sponge gasket isnt doing the same? soon as they stick the glass to the back plate the gasket puts pressure on the LCD, If so it could be easy fixed by a softer gasket/setting it further back or maybe ditching it and blocking dust from outside at the openings!
Just a theory what you guys think?

  • Need pinout - T4600c LCD panel

Could anybody send me the pinout of this LCD panel.
Laptop itself is buggy, but I want to use the screen on an another (desktop) PC.
It can be done, but I need the pin layout in order to get it going...
Manufacturer of the screen is ok too, because maybe I can look up details with that.
    Many thanks!

I assume there is nothing to do.
Firstly such informations are provided only in the maintenance manuals and secondly only the authorized Toshiba service provider could access such documents ;(
However, this notebook seems to be an old and Im afraid also an ASP will not be able to help you
But you can try to contact the guys and maybe youre a lucky man and they will provide some useful info..

  • T430 LCD Panel

Hi, I have a broken LCD panel on a T430 laptop. Model No is 2347-G5G. Can anyone suggest the correct part number for a replacement screen? I have checked through the system service parts list but have no idea which one it is.  Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If you look at the list again, you have an HD+ (1600X900) screen. Any will fit and work fine. The 3 part numbers are for 3 different suppliers. If you want the exact same supplier you had, you can look it up here:

  • T60p LCD panel died - which kind do I have?

T60p LCD panel died -  red screen for 30 seconds at startup then blank.
How do I find out which lcd panel I need for my T60p?  Diagonally measures  14 3/16" from corner to corner of the plastic bezel.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi,
What is the 7-digit type/model number and 7-digit product ID on the back of your laptop (so we can confirm that it is a 14.1" model)?
Reddish glow sounds like your backlight is out. If you shine a flashlight into the screen, can you read what's on the screen? If possible, hook your T60p up to an external monitor. If it displays perfectly, then more than likely your system board is fine and it's just the LCD that needs to be replaced.
Any 14.1" 4:3 standard panel from another T60, R60, T61 and a few other models will work. Some are XGA (1024x768 resolution) while others are SXGA+ (1400x1050 high resolution). If you have a T60p it likely came with SXGA+ resolution to match the more advanced ATI graphics processor.
It's best to find a used, genuine Lenovo panel, or, even better, an entire LCD assembly, which makes for an easier swap. Look for a genuine panel with a Lenovo FRU part number printed on the back. "Compatible" or generic (non-O.E.M.) panels are often of inferior quality and may not function properly once installed since the EDID chip has not been properly programmed.
Here is the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your T60p: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=migr-62733
Have a great day. (I do not work for Lenovo)

  • Lenovo S300: will I have trouble creating a backup image with Acronis

    I'm thinking of buying a Lenovo S300
    Very cheap and lighweight
I want to update all settings (Windows mainly) and then create a backup image that I can always go back to
Can I do this? Will I have any problems?
I bought an ASUS laptop with no disc drive... and basically, there was no way I could boot up with an external DVD drive or USB
I just wanted to make sure before I purchased
    Thanks

    Hi
Which application do you use to create the image?
I use the Symantec ghost and Im very satisfied. I have created an image file which was placed at the second application and if something going wrong Im able to install the OS from the image file.
Furthermore this unit support RAID and the RAID driver must be installed to recognize the HDD.
