  • Lenovo S400 motherboard info

    Hi all,
I can't fine the model of my motherboard: can someone tells me which is? I own a lenovo S400 with intel i5 3317u. When I run CPU-ID, under name is written "company name" and no model is shown.
    Thanks in advance!

    hi Fantasys21,
You can check this Maintenance Manual for your system and check the Hardware list.
You should be able to find the following list
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
Note that the part you need to get has an FRU tag on it. as per other threads here same model without the FRU tag will not work.

  • Lenovo S400 screen brightness darker on Win 7?

So I recently bought a Lenovo S400 that came with Windows 8 for someone.  However, he didn't like Windows 8 so I installed Windows 7 on it.  After installing all the driver, the screen for some reason got darker.  It seems like the lowerst the screen brightness can go and the hightest the screen brightness can go got lowered.  I thought it may have been a driver issues so I uninstalled and reinstalled all of the driver without any luck.  So I just formmated the computer again but still no luck.
Does anybody have any solutions for this?

    ***UPDATE***
Ok so the problem is confirmed! As soon as I restored Win 8, the screen brightness was set at 65%, I was quickly able to turn it up to 100% and the screen is as bright as ever. So it is now definitely not a hardware issue but an issue with Win 7 drivers Lenovo provides.
Now, I will try getting all the drivers off the hidden partition and try restoring my Win 7 back and trying that Win 8 driver. If that works, I will upload the Win 8 driver for everyone and post a link.
But, I definitely discovered the cause. It's drivers!
    PS
In fact, I will post the driver if I find it now, so you guys can try it out before I do the Win 7 restore again.
Hmm, the only problem now is I can't seem to see the drive with the drivers on it. I know I had it before, but I can't see it now, I recreated all the partitions Lenovo came with, keeping exact sizes, but I can't seem to assign a letter to any of them through standard disk management app.
Ok tried viewing the hidden partitions.... I just remembered that I was stupid and didn't backup the D drive, which is where the regular OneKey Backups go and the drivers were in that folder as well.....
So if anyone has Win 8, please upload it somewhere, preferably dropbox or mediafire, so I can test it.
Because it'll be a long time before we get it from Lenovo and I really hate Win 8!

  • Lenovo S400 error in installing Rapid start technology

I recently installed windows 8 on my laptop all drivers were installed perfectly except Intel Rapid Start Technology, on installing it is showing that your system doesn't meet the minimum requirement. Also the action center is showing install driver for power management and card reader which I have already installed but still it is continuously showing this message.

    hi madhurgandhi,
    Welcome to the Forums.
Installing the Intel Rapid Start Technology requires an Intel Rapid Start feature in the BIOS. Upon looking, this is not included in the S400's BIOS so this software will not work.
As for the power management and card reader notifications, are these the drivers that you installed?
    Realtek Card Reader Driver
    Version: 6.2.9200.39044
    Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit)
    Lenovo Energy Management
    Version: 8.0.2.3
    Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit)
AFAIK, If the card reader and the energy management softwares are both instaled and working without any errors, you should be fine.

  • Lenovo S400 Windows XP Drivers needed

Hello can I use the Windows 7 drivers to install Windows XP on Lenovo Ideapad S400?
Or can I Download anywhere the XP Drivers?

    hi Napkid,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Windows XP drivers are not listed under support site for this model.
If you really want to push for Windows XP you will need to get those manually from Manufacturers.
You can check device's Hardware ID under Device Manager to identify the brand and model.
Then look it up online for driver download

How did you come by this if I may ask ?
But your best bet is to send it into Lenovo and they'll most likely "CID" - Customer Induced damage - unless otherwise. But they're really good about it and will negotiate proper prices with you!

    Hello rabsr-
Welcome to the Best Buy Forums!
Sometimes learning all the features and programs on a new computer can be intimidating and you may need help.  I know I’ve run into this roadblock before and it definitely can ruin some of the excitement of a new purchase.
With that being said, most manufacturers will not offer in-depth instructions on the programs they’ve created without charging for it.  However, many times you can find tutorials online that may help you get the most out of that program or at least get you going in the right direction.  My recommendation would be to search out the name of this program on your favorite search engine and see what you can find.
Hopefully you can find something that will help you get the most out of this program and computer.
    Sincerely,

  • S400 touch charges until 60% and stops / displays plugged in not charging

I bought the Lenovo s400 touch last August.
The laptop doesn't charge more than 60%. It says plugged in no charging.
Any suggestions how to resolve this. Its really not handy at all since it only leaves you with 1.5 hours of battery life. Also it might suddenly discharge if the battery goes lower than 30 %.
    thanks in advance

In the icons on your task bar (in the side of the clock) you will find the icon of the energy management software. I don't remember the app's name, but is related to energy management.
In my case, is an red icon with a bike, a car or a plane.
Open this software. This software controls the performance plans of your notebook. There's two options of battery configuration: 1- maximize battery life time, or maximum battery duration.
    Select "maximum battery duration".
All the names I used are just an example, because I don't realy remember the functions real names. And I'm in my job right now.
The "maximize battery life time" option makes your notebook load the battery just until the 60%. Setting the another option your notebook will load until the maximum.
    Sorry for my bad english.

  • LENOVO S 400 install Centos 6.4

    Hello,
I bought S400 almost two months ago from the distributor (Lenovo S400, Core i3, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD, color Silver gray).
I install WIN 7, 64bit.. Its fine nothing problem come to me.
Last week, I install CentOS 6.4.
My problem now, is the touch pad and right click button.
    1. Touch pad, is not accurate when your navigating to the folder or any axis in your desktop screen.
    2. My Righ click button in the touch pad, is not working, if I press righ click, it's like a left click command, or if you right click on icon in the centos desktop, Its high-lighted. So in my own opinion, my right-click is not functioning, but when I try my external mouse like a wireless mose or wired usb mouse, nothing problem to me. Its accurate and right / left click in good functions.
any one can help with my problem?
    thanks

any board can help my problem.
    thanks.

  • S400 Touch - Driver for Touch Screen

I'm on the Driver Download page for the S400 Touch, but I have no idea which driver is for my touch screen.  There are display drivers and mouse/touchpad drivers, but neither of them say anything (at least I don't see it) about the HID touch screen.  Running Windows 7 64bit.

  • S400 Battery Problems

I have recently purchased an S400 and I am experiencing problems with the battery.
I have the battery settings set at Optimised and I have the notification of low battery switched on.
When I turn on my computer it will often say that I have 50-60 percent battery however when I use it without the AC power after a few minutes my computer will shut down due to low battery with no warning.
When I switch the computer back on with AC power it will show the battery as around 5 percent.
Any advice to resolve this problem would be appreciated!

    hi Catherine08,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
The battery life expectancy of the Lenovo S400 is up to 5hrs according to this pdf data sheet. If you're getting less than advertised especially if you have 50%-60% (2-3 hrs) more but only lasts a few minutes, try to fully drain the battery and charge it up to 100%. (do this on 3 cycles)
If the same problem occurs then this is an indication that the battery is already wearing out (probably has dead cells already) and you need to contact Lenovo to have it replaced. Support phone list here.
    Hope this helps.
