Lenovo Settings - Windows 8.1 App

Hallo zusammen

Version 2.3.2.27
(Fix) Fail to launch Fingerprint reader SW on Fingerprint reader section click.
(Fix) The "Privacy" mode of camera is turned on unexpectedly after sleep or hibernation.
(Fix) Sound Effect profiles may not be controlled properly while voice communication is active.
(Fix) Camera Plus features may not work after the system shutdown.
(Fix) Sound Effect profile setting may not be recovered after changed automatically.

  • Windows 8.1 settings window and other apps automatically minimize/cannot be selected.

Whenever I try and change my settings by going through the usual charms menu-> Change PC Settings, the instant the settings window comes up it disappears. I try bringing it up from the taskbar and the same thing happens: it seems to maximize then just disappears. I can't switch to it, only close it. This applies to any app in Windows including Sports, News, etc.

The restore point was  safety precaution, so it something when wrong you would have a good restore point to return to. As you have one that was before the issue started, I would keep and use that one.
Here is a link to a Window.microsoft.com answer to assist you.  Cannot use Windows 8 apps or get to PC Settings!
If the issue remains, I would do a   Refresh Your PC to Resolve Problems (Windows 8).  This will reinstall the original OS.
Now try doing your update again.
    Updating Windows 8 to 8.1
If this has not helped I would do a full factory recovery.  Here is a link to System Recovery / Backup / Restore.  There are links on the page to guide you through doing a recovery and restoring your files if you opted to do the backup.

  • Enabling "Startup Apps" option in the "Change Action Center settings" window

    Hi
I have Windows 8.1 Update Enterprise
    64-bit.
I noticed that, in the "Change
    Action Center settings" window, the
    "Startup Apps" item is disabled.
How come? How do I enable it?
What is the purpose of this option?
    Thanks
    Bye
    Balubeto

As per my understanding startup items are the programs/apps, shortcuts, folders, drivers, scripts etc that are set to run automatically at startup when a user signs in to Windows. Disabling this might cause system issues, so its probably enabled
    and greyed out by default.

Sorry, that's not a very helpful or accurate answer. All the Action Center does is NOTIFY users. It doesn't disable anything. The startup items are still set to run automatically and can still be enabled or disabled through the Task Manager. And the question,
"how can I enable it" was not answered.

  • W530 with windows 8.1 - how to enter Lenovo settings app?

I made the big mistake of putting 8.1 on my W530.  I have manged to banish 99% of metro and its apps, to turn the machine back into a developers work station, but one thing I have not worked out how to deal with is the levovo settings.  I can launch it, and it launches a metro window, but it says "an update is available for this app" or simlar, and gives a ok and cancel button. Theither buttons are clickable, and there is no way to "exit" or run this app, or to update it. I have all automatic updates switched on, but I can find no way to actaully update this god forsaken metro abomination to use it.
I would pay if someone brought out the essential lenovo apps as proper desktop apps for windows 8, like they are for windows 7.  Why would lenovo abandon its desktop power users?

When you start Lenovo Settings for the first time, it will notify you of the missing dependency package and launch your default browser straight to its download location. But since you removed 99% of the ModernUI apps, I'm guessing you broke some links in the process, thus it doesn't launch for you.
To my knowledge, the TVSU doesn't fetch this package, and shouldn't, because not everyone uses the Lenovo Settings app, and therefore it's controlled by the Settings app itself through its Auto-Update functionality.

  • Windows 8 Freezes after last "Lenovo Settings Update" anytime the pointer goes to a corner

After the most recent "Lenovo Settings Update", my Windows 8 freezes for a few minutes (minimum of two) anytime the pointer hits one of the hot corners.  The system also freezes for a couple of minutes or less when certain apps are started or the mouse clicks on certain apps.  This is a repeatable error.  I can restore the system to the setpoint previous to the "Lenovo Settings Update" and everything works fine.  re-Install the update and the problem comes back.  The system also freezes for 5-10 seconds when an e-mail message comes in and the notification appears.  Also happens under other different circumstances but the worst is when the mouse pointer goes to any "Hot Corner".  I can reset the system to the last restore point and have everything work fine but anytime I go to "Lenovo Settings", it forces the update which then creates this problem.
Has anyone else seen this issue?  I have all the updates for Windows 8 and Lenovo installed including all new Bios updates that are published.  The model is  a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge S320u (otherwise known as the "Twist". The error is repeatable in all screen modes, tablet modes and multiple monitor modes.
For now I will go back to the latest restore point but would like to see the issue resolved.
    Thanks.
    Bob

I had the exact same issue with the same computer (Thinkpad Twist)! Am very happy to have come accross this page through a web search.
After installing some updates through Lenovo Update App (because of a message that critical updates are available on the Lenovo Support App from Startscreen), my whole system would freeze for about two minutes when moving the cursor over any corner. This is very troublesome not only because it effectively disables the Windows 8 "hot corners" (which I didn't use much anyway, preferring to launch the tasks thus accessible differently), but mostly because it is necessary at times to access the corners, notably to close any document, webpage or other instance of any program that was open in full screen (which usually all of my docs/programs are, considering the Twist's small screensize...).
Afer reading rbagnall's post I first tried uninstalling updates through the Lenovo Update center. But there, once installed, updates don't seem to be removable. Why Lenovo? You can look at the list of installed updates but not make any change. Now I have followed rbagnall's advice and restored my computer with a restore point, sufficiently far back, as I didn't know exactly which update caused this. It worked! Not exactly pleasant, because I had to reinstall some programs and change some settings again, but the problem got resolved.
I went further and tried to see which update causes this by installing them one by one and seeing when the problem appears. The culprit seems to be "Display Mode Orientation Update for Windows 8". One needs to install the "Lenovo Power Management Driver" with it (which is actually listed under optional updates, whereas the Display Mode update is shown as a critical one, but the former is selected automatically when the later is chosen, and one cannot unselect it, a message appears then that it is necessary for the other update). So it could be that one as well (haven't checked whether installing it without the Display Mode update creates the same problem). In any case, once these are installed, the problem appears.
I have now restored my PC again to the restore point, and haven't installed any Lenovo update, not even the other critical one, as I don't know what it's for (Critical patch to fix TVSU UTS issue - I haven't had this issue, and any web entries on this I found dated back to 2009). In the optional updates there is also a BIOS update, which I had installed previously, but I don't know what it's for either. If there is anything terribly useful in either (or other optional updates), please tell me.
For now I have uninstalled the Lenovo Support Startscreen App (which seems to be more annoying than helpful), and will refrain from updating any Lenovo drivers from now, which seems to do more harm than good (everything was working fine before the update)...

    Hello everybody,
I just tried to install the Lenovo Settings Dependency Package for Windows 8.1  on my T440s and it repeatedly tells me that it fails because mfplatt.dll is missing. Has anybody experienced that and knows how to proceed in this case?
    Thanks for your help

I confirm the problem on T510 too.
    I have Windows 8.1 PRO N.
I installed the windows Windows6.3-KB2835517-x64.msu windows media package.
After this, I can restart Lenovo Settings Dependency Package and it works wright, without the error on MFPlat.dll
And after it works, my camera started to work correctly!

  • Windows 10 Lenovo Settings not detecting battery in Edge 15

Upgraded to Windows 10 on July 30th. No problems. My battery was showing up in conservation mode at 60% and not charging (I always use laptop plugged in). This was the setting in Windows 8.1 and still in Windows 10.  All okay until tonight.
Tonight my battery is showing 100% charged and it's no longer in conservation mode. I opened the new Lenovo Settings for Windows 10 and clicked on Power. It is showing “No Battery Installed.” I unplugged the laptop and it is running just fine on the battery.  I want to put it back in conservation mode but I cannot because Windows 10 Lenovo Settings isn’t detecting the battery even though it is working fine. This article explains what I should be seeing: http://www.improdia.com/tech-tips/lenovo-battery-conservation-windows-10/, I don’t know how to solve this problem and would appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Hi Chaka,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
Have you watched those local Canadian TV online before upgrading the operating system? This is probably one of the issues of Windows 10 but I cannot confirm that yet since Sony is still testing Vaio computer and updating the drivers and software for Windows 10.
You may try to use a different computer and check if you'll get the same result. If the same then probably the issue is with the website itself.
You may also run Vaio update and Windows update then try to change again the region.

  • FN Keys not working - Lenovo Settings error

Hi, I just upgraded to windows 8. I've noticed that my hotkeys are not working or are not working as they used to. These are the problems I'm having:
My mute mic button still lights up and appears to work but no notification is displayed on screen.
Volume buttons still work but it's the windows 8 volume display that shows the volume changes the display not the lenovo on screen display (not much of a big deal).
Mute button works, but I have to press it once then press one of the volume keys to mute and same process to unmute, on screen display also doesn't show. Before I could just press the mute button and my speakers were muted.
Pressing Fn + F6 to open communications utility gives me message that says "This key combination opens the Lenovo Settings program. You do not have the Lenovo Settings program installed on your computer. To launch the using this key combination, install the program first."  The thing is, I have access communication installed so it should work. Can someone me?
    I having a SL510, I'm running Windows 8 Pro.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Since there is a Windows 8 Settings app available now, and I have it installed, it is bugging me, that I still get the error message telling me "This key combination opens the Lenovo Settings program. You do not have the Lenovo Settings program installed on your computer. To launch the program using this key combination, install the program first".
The App is starting without any problems (but I can see the dialog popping up just before the fullscreen app starts) and I have the latest version and everything works just fine. I also have the latest Lenovo Settings dependencies installed and so on.
In fact there is no "real" problem, except when I leave the app and return to the desktop there is still the dialog I just quoted.
I think its a problem regarding desktop applications and metro apps.
Anything I can do about that?

  • Deploy Windows 8 metro app in OSD

    Hello,
I'm working on certifying notebooks with Windows 8 image for corporate use and have faced some issues with Windows 8 sideloading.
Lenovo provides "Lenovo Settings" application for its notebooks. It's additional software to handle battery, wireless, etc. and it's implemented as Metro-style app. It could be found in Windows Store, however, Lenovo also provies stand-alone solution
for enterprise in .appx format that could be sideloaded. Unfortunately, Lenovo do not provide instructions on how to load and instead points to Microsoft documentation.
When I try to sideload application to user/machine after OOBE with dism or powershell - everything works great. Application appears to users and could be used.
I was also able to inject the application to .wim file in offline mode. I'm aware of necessary group policies and pre-set both of them:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Appx]
    "AllowAllTrustedApps"=dword:00000001
    "AllowDeploymentInSpecialProfiles"=dword:00000001
But the real problem comes when I try to deploy image to the fresh PC (I use SCCM 2012 SP1, OSD feature). I can list all loaded apps with (DISM /online /Get-ProvisionedAppxPackages) and Lenovo Settings app lists as installed during any action in task sequence
in FullOS mode. But when I first logon to the machine after deployment, application do not appear to user (I know about built-in Administrator restriction and I'm using custom account that is admin on the PC). Using the same command to view installed W8 applications,
Lenovo Settings do not appear any more in the list.
I was able to find one entry in the logs (Event Viewer -> Applications and Services Logs -> Microsoft -> Windows > AppxDeployment-Server -> Microsoft-Windows-AppXDeploymentServer/Operational):
Package(s) with the following package full names were not registered due to sideloading policy restrictions:
    LenovoCorporation.LenovoSettings_1.1.0.11169_x86__4642shxvsv8s2
Image - Windows 8 Enterprise x64.And It's joined to the domain during OSD (Apply Network Settings step, before I've used DISM to add W8 app). All sideloading requirements are met.
I've tried to reapply AllowAllTrustedApps and AllowDeploymentInSpecialProfiles policies in Task sequence from using gpedit.msc, then I've tried to reapply Lenovo settings using dism - it says that import is successfull and application could be listed as
installed. But the same problem appears when I logon to the deployed PC.
So, my question is whether Microsoft supports Windows 8 metro-application sideloading during OS deployment. And if so, what would be the correct procedure to overcome described issue?
As for now, I've tested all cases that I can think of, so any suggestions are welcome.
    Thank you!

    i don't think it's supported, have a look at
slide 25 here and I quote
    Applications are installed per-user
”Installing” an application makes it available for a single user
”Provisioning” an application makes it install for each user on the computer.
"ConfigMgr 2012 SP1 only supports “installation” of applications,
not the “provisioning” of applications.  Installation is done per user, hence the user deployment above.  Provisioning is done per machine, as provisioned apps automatically install for each user the next time they log in.
If you look in the MDT 2012 Update 1 “ZTIApplications.wsf” script and you’ll see this:
    sCmd = "DISM.EXE /online /Add-ProvisionedAppxPackage
    /PackagePath:""" &
    oUtility.SelectSingleNodeString(oNode,"CommandLine")
    & """ /SkipLicense"

  • Aplicacion Lenovo Settings no arranca

    Hola!

  • Automatische Aktualisierungen Lenovo Settings

Auf meinem neuen Rechner (Lenovo Z70) führt Lenovo Settings "Automatische Aktualisierungen" aus, "Aktualisierungen werden installiert. Bitte warten ..."

    http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/de-de/app/lenovo-settings/3078e868-a336-4a13-af40-8f37982cf591
Bitte teile uns mit, ob die automatische Aktualisierung nach der Neuinstallation wieder festhängt.

  • Windows 8.1 Apps open and close immediately

We have joined a laptop running Windows 8 to the domain however none of the apps work. They open and then close immediately.
The error in the event log is:The app microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Microsoft.WindowsLive.Calendar's package family (microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe) has more than one package installed. This is not supported, so the app
was not activated for the Windows.Launch contract.
The problem doesn't happen with a local user or before the laptop was on the domain.
We have tried following with no luck:
*Permission changes for ALL APLICATION PACKAGES
    * Laptop and user in an OU with no group policies applying
    *Same ISO re-downloaded
    *Registry changes advised by Microsoft
    * Local admin rights to domain user
Uninstalling and re-installing the apps manually fixed this issue but this isn't the correct way of fixing this as Windows 8 will be rolled out company wide.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hi,
How are the APPs installed on the PC before joining into domain? With Microsoft account?
Besides, have you checked this blog?
What to do if your Windows 8 Modern App fails to start
Please follow the steps mentioned to see if any group policy settings(like AppLocker, logon scripts or proxy settings) or the image itself caused this.

  • Windows 8 Mail App - Not setting up with Office 365 Account

Hi - I'm trying to get an Office 365 Exchange account set-up with the Windows 8 Mail app.  It's giving me an error stating the following:
To sync this account, you first need to: Make your Windows user account an administrator.
I do not want to give admin privileges to the individual user account on Windows (as the error is stating that it wants me to give admin privileges to the local Windows 8 account - not on Office 365) and I cannot find any restriction set-up in the admin
console/settings on Office 365 (or in Widows 8) that would require this privilege.
This same account (on Office 365) can connect fine via Outlook 2010 and a Windows Phone 7 mail app.
    How can I solve this?..

    Derek,
Can you please share the UAC setting or GPO settings you used to fix this in Windows 8?  I've gone to the lowest available setting in the UI (there appears to be a lower limit that a NON-admin user can manually set UAC to and to get any other levels,
you need to use GPO) and still no luck.
    Thx,

  • WIndows 8.1 app tiles don't work since window update on 12/14/14

My computer with windows 8.1 went through several updates on 12/14/14 and now none of my window tiles will open and several are now missing. I tried to install them again, and it says go back to the app store and install them again. It doesn't work. I
tried. Any ideas? I've restarted the computer several times, still not working. Several tiles are there, but are blank now. Any help would be great. Thanks

    Hi  Karens23,
Till now there is no report or same case about Windows 8.1 App issue caused by update 12/14/2014.
Since Windows 8 will need to be activated before the Store and apps will work. You will need to either be signed in to Windows 8 or the Store with a Microsoft account to be able to use an app that uses a Microsoft service. So please make sure your Windows
activation state is still activated and Sync your app license again by using following steps.
Step 1: On the Start screen, tap or click Store.
Step 2: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and tap Settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Settings.)
Step 3: Tap or click App updates.
If you haven't signed in to the Windows Store, sign in using your Microsoft account.
Step 4: Tap or click Sync licenses.
If syncing the app license doesn't help, press
Win+R. Enter wsreset then click OK, In Windows 8.1 the store will simply open.
It resets the Windows Store without changing account settings or deleting installed apps
Then Check the following Registry Key by pressing
    Win+R enter “regedit” click “OK”
    ( HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Packages)
Right click Packages select “permissions” and make sure
SYSTEM has all the following Rights checked:
    Full control(allow)
