Lenovo should give BIOS update to C 540 to run windows phone 8 emulator

I bought a new Lenovo C540 yesterday, The main reason to purchase this system was to develop games for windows phone 8 and windows 8. However due to some hidden reason from Microsoft as well as Lenovo,  they don't provide Windows 8 Pro version to the user. It was not mention in the purchase items that what kind of Windows 8 user is going to purchase. However I come to know that it was Windows 8 home edition. Thankfully I purchased one license windows 8 Pro so I just upgraded and hyper-v which is essential to run the emulator is found.
But I could not start it. Every time I am going to start it says "The windows phone " emulator could not start because the hypervisor is not running. with error code  0x80131500. After a hell lot of googling I found that in event log
"Hypervisor launch failed; Processor does not provide the features necessary to run the hypervisor (leaf 0x80000001, register 0x3: features needed 0x28100800, features supported 0x28000800)."
I found this problem but the solution is from Lenovo side. Can I get a BIOS update so that I can run emulator in the desktop.  It will be great help and definitely my frustration since last 30 hours will end. Why there is so much restriction to the user.

Will there be any reaction from Lenovo? I have tried to contact the support, but they just say, Windows 8 PRO is not supported by the normal Support. I should contact the premium support for 1.99 €/min. I think they can´t help me either, because the only sollution is a bios update. I found an entry at Microsoft where the whole case is discussed. MS Forum
Microsoft consists in the support of SLAT and the Bios from the C540 seems to not give the right infomations to the operation system.
So no one is responsable??!!!!
It would be great to hear a statement from lenovo to this case.
greetings Maik

  • Need help finding a BIOS flash tool and BIOS updates for HP Compaq nc8230 running Windows 7

I put together this laptop. It didnt come with a hardrive, and basically I installed everything from the ground up.
It is an HP Compaq nc8230, IDE Hard drive, Windows 7 32 bit. The BIOS on it is the original one. I've searched far and wide, but to no avail, it seems there's zero support for this model anymore.
Basically it was never intended to go beyond Vista, back in 2004 when this model was introduced.
The reason I am searching for some kind of BIOS update, whether it is BIOS or SMBios is to get the ACPI driver to recognize the primary laptop battery. This is crucial: it only sees both as the travel battery. Other than that, all else is fine.

    Hi:
Here is the latest BIOS update for your notebook.

You cannot use the windows based flash because you installed windows 7, so I provided the link to the DOS based flash.
You need to use a USB floppy drive for this update.
Oh, and the card reader won't work unless you install this updated driver which is not on your PC's support and driver page.

  • Lenovo Ideapad G460 Bios Update Failed

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo Ideapad G460, I am trying to upgrade my bios but it failed. What I did is I had downloaded the bios update from the lenovo site and run the update program and followed all the instructions. During the process of flashing, the application encountered an error. I restarted the laptop and tried Insyde Bios Crisis Recovery using the Fn + B. After several attempts to find the correct filename, the last attempt to flash gave me a series of beeps while flash disks reads, then afterwards, it had powered down the laptop. When I tried to turn on the laptop, the screen is still blank, and now I  am trying to do the crisis recovery again, but now when I press the Fn + B combination, no beeps occurs and flash disk doesn't blink, the fan is spinning at full speed and shut itself down after 10 seconds. I already tried many times already and still gave me the same result. I had already exhausted all methods for flashing but no luck on it.
Any help would be appreciated to save my laptop.

  • BIOS Update and now fan is running constantly

I got a HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC last week and have just been prompted to install a BIOS update. When it was installing the update the fans turned on and were deafening.
It's installed the update, restarted itself a few times, etc.
However the fan is now running constantly and is extremely annoying. It's not blasting out by any means and is probably nowhere near how quick and loud it could be. But this is a brand new laptop and the fan shouldn't be running - all I'm doing is browsing the internet.
What has this update done and how can I turn the fan off (I presume it will turn itself on when the heat inside the laptop requires it).
    Cheers

Hello foxyjohn. I understand you are experiencing an issue where the fan is always running quickly after a BIOS update. The fan should not be running quickly, based on the information you have provided. I would like you to follow the troubleshooting in this document: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c03620929
Although the title of the document is "System Fan (90b) error message on startup", the troubleshooting steps presented are relevant and effective. These steps likely will not resolve the issue. However, it will prove that you are not coincidentally experiencing a hardware issue. If these steps do not resolve the issue, you can reference this document on how to access the BIOS: h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=bph07110

  • Can't Update CS4 on New Laptop Running Windows 7 64bit

I just upgraded a 2 year old slow laptop running 32 bit Vista to a brand new Asus G73JW laptop running Windows 7 64 bit. It is a really fast laptop with 8G RAM, 1.5GB dedicated graphics card, full 1920 x 1080 HD res, solid state drive for operating drive etc. It is a beast of a laptop that boots up fully in about 10 seconds and it was built for HD gamers. Needless to say I am pretty excited to get to work on my favourite Adobe software, which is Premiere Pro and Photoshop mostly.
Everything on the laptop works great but... I installed my CS4 Production Premium without a problem, however, the Adobe Updater will not work. I tried it about 10 times now, rebooting, trying various programs to try the updates etc, to no avail. They are very important updates, as the software will not function properly in several programs without the updates. I can't find anything about this specific issue, has anyone had this problem with Windows 7 64 bit?
FYI everything worked fine with the Vista 32 bit, including updates.
I am pretty frustrated now and I just want to start using the software, and I would really appreciate any suggestions anyone may have.
I already have an e-mail in to Asus to find out if the latest NVidia GTX 460M graphics card driver can be updated on my system. There are a few other drivers I am looking into updating as well to see if that will help.
    Thank you in advance,
    Aaron

  • Unable to update iTunes on my PC running Windows 7 64 bit

I am unable to install update to iTunes on my PC Windows 7 64 bit,  I went to "Tools" and clicked on "update only" but that didn't help.  It seems that
my computer cannot find the installation package 'Bonjour64msi'

It seems that my computer cannot find the installation package 'Bonjour64msi'
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time?

  • Ipod wants updated version of iTunes, but running Windows 2000

I get the following when I connect to my work computer.
The IPOD “MY IPOD” cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.6 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.
I am running Windows 2000 so I cannot upgrade to the version it is asking for. If I cannot use iTunes at work with my ipod, so be it. But I would like to be able to charge my ipod while using it. How do I fix this issue?
I have the ipod classic 80, and using USB port.

Charging at work is nice but you should have enough charge time to listen all day at work (my 160GB Classic gets about 47 hours of music play time between charges) and then charge it up in the evenings when you get home. Just plug into some powered speakers you might already have.

  • TA24326 How can I update Apple software for PC running Windows 7?

I'm still working on getting the iTunes Store to open from iTunes.  Perhaps I need to update some of the software that is not included with iTunes download.

I get the "Accessing iTunes Store" message iTunes crashes and the message "iTunes has stopped working and must close"  "Close Program"
Which particular version of iTunes are you running?
To check if it's an 11.0.x of some description, first bring up your Menu Bar. Click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Now go "Help > About iTunes" and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom of the screen. (For example, mine says 11.0.2.25.)

  • Should I apply this BIOS update

My Toshiba Service Center shows BIOS 6.10 update released 10-29-2012.
Present version is 1.30 with release date 4-26-2012.
Should I apply this BIOS update?
    Toshiba Satellite P875-S7200 / Windows 7

If I were you, Niki, I would NOT apply the BIOS update unless you are having some kind of problem that you think a BIOS update will cure. Don't try to fix something that ain't broke!!!  In this case, most of the changes from your version 1.30 to the 6.10 version have to do with Windows 8, not the Windows 7 you are using.

  • Thinkpad Yoga BIOS Update Problem after installing Windows 10

Hi all, I've been reading tonnes of threads here trying to solve my problems (which seem to keep getting worse) to no avail. I'm reaching out to anyone that can suggest some help before I end up bricking my yoga by accident or running it over on purpose. I'll give you a timeline of the events. The machine in question is a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12.5" 20CD-0032USIntel Core i5 4200U 1.60GHz Processor4GB Ram128GB SSDWindows 8.1 64 Bit preloaded (recently upgraded to Windows 10) So the saga begun just a short two days ago. I had some spare time at home and decided to download and install my free upgrade to Windows 10. I backed up all of my important documents etc to OneDrive as I intended on performing a clean install. Said clean install went flawlessly with Windows 10 installing the first time with no issues or errors. Since I had performed a clean install, all my previous apps, including the stock Lenovo apps, had been deleted. I had anticipated this and only really desired to reinstall the app that automatically adjusts the screen orientation when folding the cover back. So in an effort to find this app and any Windows 10 related updates that may be available I went to support.lenovo.com and used the handy Lenovo Bridge app to automatically detect my hardware and suggest relevant updates. While combing through the suggested software I noticed a BIOS update that noted added support for Windows 10. How great, I thought, that Lenovo would have a BIOS update ready so quickly once 10 became ready for mass consumption. I went ahead and downloaded the exe version (not the bootable CD due to the lack of CD drive on the Yoga) and ran the BIOS update. As I ran the update the laptop was plugged in, and no errors were presented, a success message appeared and indicated a reboot was necessary, after a couple seconds the system rebooted itself. Enter nightmare level 1. As soon as the system rebooted, I fired up IE about to look for more updates and......BSOD stating that there was and issue with a driver, after another reboot BSOD again with a completely different file name stating driver file missing or corrupt. Sorry I didn't write any of the file names or errors down. At this point I'm thinking that something is not jiving here between the BIOS and OS. So I tried running repair, and recovery and each time I would end up with a BSOD of some design. It was at this point I made a USB with the Windows 10 x64 ISO from Microsoft in an attempt to run the repair utilities from the USB. Again to no avail. Enter nightmare level 2 After attempting multiple tries at recovering Windows 10 and getting multiple BSOD's through the process I decided to use my Windows 10 USB to simply reformat my hard drive to eliminate any traces of my now apparently corrupt OS and do a fresh install of Windows 10. This appears to have been a significant error on my part. Now I have no OS (BIOS is still intact so at least I think I have a not-bricked motherboard) and everytime I try to boot Windows 10, or 8.1 for that matter, from a brand new USB stick I get constant BSOD's.Sometimes I get as far as the Preparing installation files 22% but am interrupted by a BSOD error at some point. So I am pleading for some help here. To me it seems like the BIOS update was the issue. I was not smart enough to have checked the BIOS version before updating so that I would know what to roll back to safely. What would you all recommend for a rollback and how do I go about doing one with no OS on the machine. I know I'm asking for a tl;dr here but appreciate any advice offered. I really dont want to get to nightmare level 3, which I guess would be a bricked laptop and a bill for a new motherboard or laptop. The BIOS I currently have is GQET45WW (1.25) -Garrett

Thanks for the reply ColonelONeill, It turns out that Lenovo uses an obscure PERL disk image called "eltorito". As such the directions in the link you provided did not work as most common tools (WinZip, 7zip, and WinRAR) cannot extract the image file from an eltorito iso file.  I instead just bucked up for a $50.00 Asus USB CD drive and burned the iso for version 1.25 and 1.24 onto discs. I then disabled the setting in the BIOS that prevents rolling back to a previous version and flashed to 1.24 from the disc. While this appeared to go successfully, as soon as I tried to boot from my Windows 8.1 CD I start receiving BSOD's again during installation. I then used the CD with 1.25 to go back to where I was in case it was simply a bad BIOS update at the time. Most of the BSOD's are driver related (qlfcoei.sys) which I don't understand since there is no OS other than what is on the bootable CD (or USB I've tried both) Is there anyone with a stable install of Win 8.1 x64 or 10 x64 running on a 20CD0032US that can tell me what version of BIOS they are running? My next step is to go back to a version that someone else can verify is working. Thanks again for any help.
