Lenovo T400 cannot authenticate with WRE54G

I recently got a new Thinkpad (Lenovo T400) and am having trouble getting it to authenticate with my Range Expander (WRE54G).  My Xbox360 and my wife's laptop have no trouble authenticating with Static WEP but I cannot.  If I move towards my Router (WRT54GS) and select that access point it authenticates and picks up an IP address no problem.  What's up?  Thanks.

Which operating system you are using on the laptop ?
Which wireless card you are using on the laptop ?
If you are able to see the network name on your laptop but unable to connect then you can try updating the wireless adapter of your laptop as your other wireless devices are working fine.

  • Cannot authenticate with ACS because of USERNAME Length

    Dear Experts,
I'm using Cisco ACS (Radius and TACACS+) to authenticate network devices in my network for administration, everything works great except one of the devices accepts usernames of 8 characters length only so when I change the authentication method of this device to use TACACS+ and I enter my username which exceeds 8 characters, only the first 8 goes to ACS and since it doesnt exist in the users database it will reject the authentication.
    My username: 1234567890
when I authenticate using TACACS+, I can see 12345678 only...
Any suggestions please? for an example is it possible to add a rule if ACS sees username "12345678" it adds "90" then check the password and authenticate?
Thanks for the help in advance...

  • Cannot authenticate with local client

I have ARD 3.7 installed on a 10.7.5 machine to manage the rest of the macs in my environment. For the life of me, I cannot get it to manage itself. I have run every kickstart command I can throw at it to allow privileges, reset reporting schedule, give it a new IP and DNS, but it still switches between Authenticating and Available rapidly until the agent crashes and, in turn, crashes the management console.
Has anyone else had this issue connecting to the local agent on the machine that the management application is installed?

I'm a bit confused as to what you are attempting. Do you mean that you are trying to use ARD to update or report on the system on which the ARD administrator is installed? If so, then to the best of my knowledge that just doesn't work. At least, it has never worked in any version of ARD I've tested.
If that's not what you meant, please post back and clarify.

  • Outlook anywhere can RPC from external but cannot authenticate with AD

    HI all,
Recently, I have this weird problem surfacing and it has been bugging me ever since. Let me start of of our current setup: we have 2 CAS/HUB running on NLB and 2 MB on CCR. All 4 are installed with E2007 Sp2. We have users accessing their mailbox internally
and externally.  We used self-signed certificate for all users so that they can use Outlook when they are not in the office. All was working fine for a few years when one day, one user bought a new notebook for us to configure. Following the procedure
like we had done numerous times, then, it prompt Outlook has to be online error
while using the external network. After checking all the Outlook over RPC settings and everything, all are configured as according to the plan and nothing has been changed. Internal network (ie using the company network ) all is ok.
Firewall has not been meddled with so I am not too sure it could be the problem. ( because other external users on their existing system are ok ).
    Can anyone kindly advice?
    Thanks
    Eric

  • Problem 1/2 with lenovo T400s = strange sound

    Hello,
my new lenovo T400s works quite fine. But two things are getting on my nerves!
The first problem is a very strange sound. It's not very loud but its a very aggravating sound! In some forum posts people explained the reason of the strange noise is caused by the switching between the c2 and c4 processor state. So I tried the kernel option
    processor.max_cstate=2
But the sound is still there.
I would be very very glad if someone could help me. Every hint is very welcome.
    tia and greetings,
    Oli

  • "Cannot Authenticate the Phone" with IBM T60 and N...

    Hello!
I've been reading through the various posts on the "cannot authenticate the phone" -issue, yet after uninstalling & installing BT stack & PC Suite various times my problem still persists. I've also followed every single piece of instruction I've found on uninstalling Microsoft BT stack, yet PC Suite still reports that it is available.
I can connect from my laptop to the dial-up networking service on the phone, and I am able to connect from the phone to the headset service on my laptop, so BT stack & pairing works ok; I am also able to synchronise the phone via IR => problem must be somewhere in the PC Suite's bluetooth sections.
Is there any flags to enable debugging level logs in PC Suite? I would SOOO MUCH like to see what the hell goes wrong in there.
Or is there *any* way of getting this to work??
    Getting pretty tired with this..

OK - here's what I did to FINALLY get it working:
    1) Uninstall PC Suite (from Add Remove Programs)
    2) Uninstall Nokia Connectivity Solution
    3) Remove C:\Documents and Settings\[uid]\Application Data\Nokia, ...\\Application Data\[uid]\PC Suite, ...\All Users\Application Data\PC Suite, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia, C:\Program Files\Nokia. Basically all Nokia directories left behind by Nokia uninstallers.
    4) Restart machine
    5) Run PC Suite Cleaner (all options one at a time, except the diagnostics, don't restart although it recommends to do so)
    6) Restart machine
    7) Manually clean all typelibs, activex-objects, device-ids and other registry entries linking to or containing Nokia related stuff from registry using regedit.exe
    8) Restart machine
    9) Install PC Suite
    10) Unpair phone (from laptop and from phone)
    11) Run Get Connected Wizard

  • Cannot connect with Bluetooth

    Hi,
I'm on Windows XP Pro service pack 3. I use PC Suite 7.0.9.2.
I used to connect my phone (Nokia 6500c) to my laptop via bluetooth fine. However, I got a new laptop (Lenovo SL500) and I can't connect via bluetooth anymore.
    Here is what happens:
I go "Get Connected" -> Bluetooth connection -> it fins my phone, I click on the phone, then click next -> it asks to enter a passcode (let's say the usual "123"), I click net. Then, a bubble pops up for my bluetooth icon in the system tray saying "Bluetooth Security Code Required: Bluetooth device "Nokia Tony" is attempting to connect to this computer. Click here to proceed with the conection".
I click on the bubble, a window called Bluetooth Security Setup pops up and tries to connect my phone.... "Pairing failed". I click "try again", my phone then asks me if I want to connect with my PC, I accept, the window "Bluetooth Security Setup" generates a six-digits code that I enter in the phone... pairing is made... but the window "Get Connected" of PC Suite tells me "Cannot authenticate the phone".
any help, please?? I probably need to override the Bluetooth software, but dunno how.
when I look into Device Manager, there are two things under "Bluetooth Devices":
    - Bluetooth Bus Enumerator
    - ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate II
    thanks for helping

  • New version - can no longer authenticate with BT

I've been syncing my 6230 with my Windows XP (SP2) workstation for ages. Until I recently installed 6.80.20.
Now as soon as I get a connection, it then says "Cannot authenticate the phone". Other posts made me suspect the driver, but I dont know what my alternatives are. I'm using the standard MS drivers that come with SP2 - as I said it WAS working fine.
My bluetooth hardware is: Blutonium BCM2035 Bluetooth 2.4GHz Single Chip Transceiver. Driver is by MS, version 5.1.2600.2180.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

What if you simply untick and tick again the Bluetooth option in Nokia Connection Manager ?
BTW, were you able to unpair the phone with get connected wizard ? (I guess not, because to my understanding it requires connection first so that you can unpair...)
What do you have visible in Connection Manager, do you have Microsoft Bluetooth option there ?
If you choose NOkia PC Suite about box and system info, what does that say ?
If you have a separate Bluetooth USB Dongle, if you move it to another USB port, will that help ?
Also disabling and enabling the Bluetooth hardware rom the PC ?
Edit: one more question, it seems that the Bluetooth ship is from Broadcomm, but it still has Microsoft drivers ?Message Edited by manta on 05-May-2006

  • Unable to authenticate with diradmin in Workgroup Manager

This has happened before, and I have no idea how it got fixed - too many independent variables...
Anyway, I cannot authenticate the OD with diradmin even while using Workgroup Manager directly on the server.
    The setup:
    SLS 10.6.8
    Split-brained DNS
Both public and private FQDNs are the same (myserver.mydomain.com). External DNS maps machine record to my static public IP address. Using an AirPort Extreme router, port fowarding services that I want open to the server. The router provides DHCP via NAT to the local network, with a fixed private IP assigned to the server. The server is running DNS with the same zones, machine records, services and aliases that the public IP DNS has, except mapped to the fixed private IP. DNS checks out with changeip, etc.
The server is an OD master. Yesterday I exported it, demoted it, and restored it. All services (mail, web, etc.) seem to work fine (although I admit to not using Kerberos on AFP due to another issue).
I have a wildcard certificate that is generated by GoDaddy (*.<mydomain>.com) which seems to work fine with the hosted websites.
This is what the password service error log says when I try to log in with diradmin in Workgroup Manager:
    Jan 10 2012 14:01:32    AUTH2: {0x4bbe71ca6b8b45670000000200000002, diradmin} DHX authentication succeeded.
    Jan 10 2012 14:01:32    KERBEROS-LOGIN-CHECK: user {0x4bbe71ca6b8b45670000000200000002, diradmin} is in good standing.
    Jan 10 2012 14:01:32    KERBEROS-LOGIN-CHECK: user {0x4bbe71ca6b8b45670000000200000002, diradmin} authentication succeeded.
Looks good to me. But I still get the "Information Not Valid for This Server" followed by stuff about invalid login ID or password.
I did notice in the LDAP log:
Jan 10 14:13:12 <myserver> slapd[52283]: SASL [conn=18] Failure: GSSAPI Error: Unspecified GSS failure.  Minor code may provide more information (Key table entry not found)
And at the last bootup in the directory service error log:
    2012-01-10 08:52:03 EST - T[0x00007FFF7027ACC0] - DNSServiceProcessResult returned -65563
The other thing I notice when I log into the library in Workgroup Manager FROM THE SERVER, even if I use the FQDN <myserver>.<mydomain>.com that Workgroup Manager says (in the title bar of the window) <myserver>.local.
I have googled the various errors and messages, and I get folks with all sorts of variations ("change the binding options", etc.) none of which either applied or worked.
    Help?

Continuing on my quest... I found this Technical note from Apple about re-kerberizing:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3655
Interestingly, in step 3 where it says to remove realm information from kdc.conf, there wasn't any of my realm information. Argh!
So I completed all of the steps and executed the slapconfig command. This resulted in:
    bash-3.2# slapconfig -kerberize -f --allow_local_realm diradmin <MYREALM>
    diradmin's Password:
    Could not resolve hostname <MYDOMAIN>
    Skipping Kerberos configuration
Sounds like a dreaded DNS problem. It had been working correctly, but changeip -checkhostname confirmed a problem. Turns out that there were EXTERNAL DNS servers in the Network preferences in System Preferences as well as on the router. With my Split-brained DNS this caused problems (thank you again MrHoffman). So I changed them both to my DNS server INTERNAL IP address and added the external ones to the Forwarder IP Address in DNS. Now checkhostname -changeip returns a favorable result.
So after rebooting ran the slapconfig command again and got the same result. Argh. Cleared DNS caches. Still nothing.
    So I tried nslookup.
    nslookup <mydomain>
    Server:                    10.0.8.2
    Address:          10.0.8.2#53
    ** server can't find <mydomain>: SERVFAIL
Where 10.0.8.2 is the fixed INTERNAL IP address.
However, nslookup on using the fixed IP address yields:
    bash-3.2# nslookup 10.0.8.2
    Server:                    10.0.8.2
    Address:          10.0.8.2#53
    2.8.0.10.in-addr.arpa          name = <mydomain>.
Scratching head here... changeip -checkhostname works, nslookup on the IP address works, but nslookup on the host name fails.

  • ATI HD3400 in Lenovo T400: xf86-video-ati from testing docking issues

    Hi everyone,
I have a Lenovo T400 which I exclusively use with the discrete ATI HD3400 graphics chip because I need the DVI output from my Lenovo Advanced Mini Dock to drive a large display. When I recently updated to xf86-video-ati 6.9.0.91-1 (from testing), everytime I start X and the laptop is in the dock, all that happens is that the whole internal screen shows one full-screen color, cycling white->red->green->blue->grey->vertical black/white gradient->horizontal black/white gradient, and the external DVI display is ignored. The internal display is fine when I start X in the undocked state, until I put it into the dock and enable the DVI-out via xrandr (VGA-out seems to work fine, curiously).
6.9.0-6 (from extra) shows no problems. Pity this happens right now that one can expect more from the open-source drivers due to AMD's publication of the hardware spec...
Has anyone encountered a similar problem or knows where to file a bug most appropriately?
    Thanks in advance,
    S.

R00KIE wrote:Why don't you try the ATI binary drivers? Sure they aren't what we all would want them to be but at the current time they have support for more things than the open source drivers.
Do they support xrandr 1.2 now for using multiple displays easily? Last time I played around with them (in October) this was still a pain and ugly hacks were necessary to get multi-head to work. Otherwise I would have switched long before.

  • Lenovo T400 (4500MHD): Xorg 7.4, xf86-video-intel-2.4.3 upgrade

    hi!
I would like to ask you if anyone with an lenovo t400 has done a successful upgrade to xorg 7.4 with xf86-video-intel-2.4.3 and intel-dri-7.2-1. I'm still using xf86-video-intel-2.3.2-1 and intel-dri-7.0.3-1, though I'm not completely satisfied with it (sometimes X does not start, suspend doesn't work anymore).
I've read a lot about upgrading troubles and I would really appreciate sharing your experience.
    thanks in advance,
    woifi

    woifi,
I have the same machine and the upgrade to Xorg and xf86-video-intel make my machine not able to come back from a suspend/hibernate. The screen comes back, but everything is frozen. I have been able, however, to use the "vesa" driver in Xorg and get suspend/hibernate to work then. I can't use Compiz then, but I would rather have suspend than Compiz at this point. I'm hoping that the novelty of this machine and the Intel GMA 4500HD are causing the wrinkles in the drivers.

  • Cannot Scan with Network Connected HP Color Laserjet 2840 MFP

Just acquired Lenovo T530 which comes with Windoze 7 installed.  My SOHO printer is an HP 2840 connected on LAN and I was able to use scanner function without problems from previous laptop running Win XP.
New laptop total failure as it doesn't see the scanner.  Have spent many hours updating and searching for solutions but without any luck. Quite a few postings on topic come up in Google but no solutions.  HP site useless as the links go in a loop without getting to an answer.
As T530 is brand new and under warranty I had assumed I would be able to ask Lenovo for help but cannot find how.
Meanwhile if anybody has solution please help.
    Budgie_one

Hi Budgie_one, a late welcome to the forum,
I have the same problem with my HP CM1017 colour laserjet multi-function, worked brilliant with XP but unfortunately HP never brought out scanner drivers to work with Win7, printing was all Ok.
I spent ages searching the HP forums where the proposed solution was to install the drivers in compatability mode, which never worked for me, so I gave up and ended up installing the thing in Win7 XP mode.  If I need to scan I just start the XP mode and all works as planned.
