Welcome to the forum!
You just need to make sure that the board is not from a widescreen T60. All "standard screen" boards will work just fine.
I wouldn't trust a $10 one, though...
Good luck.

  • Lenovo B560 motherboard replacement

    Hi,
My dear laptop died on me about a month ago. It wouldn't do anything when pressing the power button and the power led would not light when connected to power. Tried with or without the battery, no led, no power. I checked with another cable and I checked my cable on another laptop and it worked so the issue has nothing to do with the power cable.
I took the laptop to my universities repair shop for a diagnosis and they said the Motherboard is dead.
Any suggestion where I could find a brand new motherboard replacement in the UK?
    Thanks,

  • Lenovo G550 Motherboard replacement

    Hello
The motherboard on my G550 malfunctioned and while I was looking for a new one on the internet I noticed that some versions of the same laptop come with a different graphics card. My laptop has a integrated Intel Mobile 45 Family Chipset, but some versions come with a NVIDIA GeForce G210M. So I was wondering if I can replace my old motherboard with the one that has NVIDIA GeForce G210M or do I have to get the same one as my old motherobard?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Lenovo H530 Motherboard replacement

Recently purchased this lovely computer. however as I read through the manual it said something about the motherboard not to be removed by the customer which is a slight problem for me because I wanted to upgrade the PSU for my graphics card which is hard to do with the current because of the 14pins since most use 24 and switch to an AMD Processor. So my main point and question is if it is possible to safely remove the motherboard and the antenna attatched to the wireless card?

  • T60 Motherboard replacement. Can anyone tell me which one do i need?

Hi everyone, i have a probem where my T60 will not work of the battery, i have purchased a new one but still the same, if i try ti power it on using batterythen battery led and charging led flashes very quickly and i can not turn it off, i have to take the battery out. My T60 however works just fine on AC and does charge the battery, after reading a lot on forums i have came to conlusion that my motherboard is faulty. Can any help me to find out which one do i need as i saw there are quite a few options to choose from.
my T60 is type 2008-CTO and product ID 2008VKF with ATI radeon x1400 with 128mb dedicated graphics
    Thank you in advance!

    Welcome to the Forum!
These are the original specs. your T60 left the factory with:
    ThinkPad T60 (2008-VKF)
    Based on 2008-CTO: T2400(1.83GHz), 1GB RAM, 40GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1400x1050 LCD, 128MB ATI Radeon X1400, CDRW/DVD, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 6c Li-Ion batt, WinXP Pro
You have a T60 14.1" standard screen. Check System service parts - ThinkPad T60, T60p standard screen. Any board listed there will work. (14.1" and 15.0" boards are interchangeable). Use the system board FRU's to assist you in your search.  If FRU is not mentioned in the listing then just make sure the board was removed from a 14.1" or 15.0" standard T60 or T60p. Be sure not to purchase one said to have been removed from a 15.4" widescreen model. You can also try to find an entire 14.1" base, which will make for a much easier swap.
As for graphics, you can choose between Intel 950, ATI x1400 (which you currently have), ATI x1300, or the more powerful ATI FireGL V5200 employed mostly on the T60p models. The boards with more powerful graphics will be more costly.
Have a great day. (I do not work for Lenovo)

  • Lenovo T60 hard drive replacement.

    Hello to everybody,
I've recently bought a Hitachi TravelStar 5K320 (model HST543232L9A300) and my intention was to install it on my Lenovo T60 as a relacement of my current drive (a 100Gb model from Fujitsu) for a higher capacity.
The system, once the replacement has been done, hangs up and it doesn't perform the boot operations (a blinking cursor appears on the top-left corner of the black display and no more). I know for sure that the OS (MS WindowXP Pro) is correctly installed and functioning because the new HDD installed on another system boots regulary (I've made a clone from my original drive). So it seems that something else has to be tuned on my T60 system...
As I can read by a document from Hitachi at http://www.hitachigst.com/tech/techlib.nsf/techdocs/C133A86932929FC3862573FB001AE8F3/$file/Final_TS5..., the drive is compatible with the Lenovo T60 System, so I wonder if someone has been through this issue before and knows how to solve it (maybe firmware upgrade, software tools, etc..).
I've tryed everithing in my my way of knowing: I've already ran FixBoot and FixMBR from a WinXP installation CD, I've removed the supervisor password too from the CMOS... I don't know what else is left to try.
Please help! Thank you in advance.

  • Required Lenovo G580 motherboard

    Hello fellow members,
It has been a year since I bought a Lenovo G580 laptop. Recently, I encountered a display failure. When I went to a local repair shop, I was told that the graphics card has been broken and since it is not detachable, the whole motherboard will have to be replaced. I have now two questions pertaining to the issue
    1) Is it true that the graphics card is not detachable from the Lenovo G580 motherboard?
    2) And if so, is there any online shop that sells new / used lenovo g580 motherboards and also provides shipping service in Pakistan.
    Looking forward to replies.
    Thanks

    hi syedkumail27,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Regarding your questions:
    1. For G580 models with discrete graphics (Nvidia GT610M/GT630M), the GPU is soldered on the motherboard.
Although this is the case, this can be detached but only professional reballing service centers does this as they have the required tools to desolder the leds.
    2. Check this ebay item as Pakistan is included in the Shipping and handling.
    Note:
From the description of the ebay item, the motherboard is taken out from a Lenovo G580, MTM: 59344049. The motherboard only has an Integrated (Intel) Graphics
Check this image for a list of motherboards with discrete graphics.
    Regards

  • R61I Motherboard Replacement

Afte rmany years my R61I 8918CTO  08/03 has given up the ghost due to the infamous
Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M.. GARBLED DISPLAY PROBLEM that Lenovo and Nvidia know about and of course refuses to fix now.
I have the 15.4" wide screen with 1900 max resolution, 1394 firewire, bluray writer and T9300 chip so it was a very expensive nice laptop that still does everything I want. I have taken very good care of it over the years and it is in excellent condition. Right now it is brick due to the GPU chip. Now my question is what is the Motherboard number without me taking it apart to get it before I have a replacement board and what motherboards replace it? AFter research I see if I can get the same motherboard after 08/08 it should be good. Or is there another motherboard with a better GPU chip I can use? I know this is an old laptop but it will cost over $1000 to get the same thing now just slightly faster with more memory I do not need so I would like to fix this one.
I have found what I believe is in the laptop either 42W7791 or 42W7882 both with the Nvidia chip. I cannot find a replacement with the Intel chip.
    Thanks!

Post 08/08 boards are rare. You can contact forum member TuuS, he may be of help finding you a proper board.

There's the possibility of fitting a T61p planar (Nvidia Quadro FX570M) in your R61i case, but the frame needs modifications and there are other disadvantages. Source (german only): http://thinkwiki.de/R61i#T61-Board_im_R61-Geh.C3.A4use
Regarding the Intel boards, you can try to get one of the following FRU numbers listed below, there might be more, I got those from the hardware maintenance manual (you can download it from here: click me!)

  • Lenovo T60 - freezes

Hello. I have Lenovo T60 with Windows 7. It freezed while I was srufing the internet and I had to turn It off using power button. Since then, It always freezes randomly. Windows sometimes boot sucessfully and then It freezes after few seconds but sometimes I can not even type my password to bios. I tried to run safe mode but It freezed during loading. I tried also Windows reinstalation, but it freezed when list of partitions appeared.
I have important data on one of my partition. How can I backup my data ? Or how can I repair It ?
    Thanks.
// I also tried Ubuntu, but It freezed during loading.

This sounds like a hardware problem. most likely failed RAM.
    1. Try to run diagnostic software. I'm not sure if Lenovo Diagnostics Software will run on the T60 as it's not officially supported. Even if it runs, of course, it may fail due to a system freeze.
    2. Remove and reseat your RAM modules. If that fixes the problem then you must have had a poor contact.
    3. If that doesn't resolve the issue and if you have more than one RAM module, try running the T60 with only one module at a time. If the system works with one module and freezes with the other then you've isolated a bad RAM module and you'll need to replace it.
As for your data, you can remove the HDD from the T60 and access it on another PC using a USB enclosure or similar adapter. If you have a HDD password on the drive you will need to go into BIOS first and remove it.

  • Blue Screen on shutdown/restart with Lenovo T60

I have a Lenovo T60 and for the past 6 weeks on shut down/restart I get the blue screen message with a Stop 0x0000008E, update Bios.  On defragmentation, there is a snap-in error.
Here's what I've done so far: all drivers have been checked and updated (no errors), defragmented the hard drive, all spyware/virus checks have been done, a memory test was done and no problems were found, and there is no new hardware or software installed.  Computer is current on its updates.
Yet, every time I shut down or restart, I get the blue screen error with the previously mentioned message.
Did anybody else have this problem?  How did you fix it?  Any ideas?

This is a very weird BSOD indeed. I did check a few things for you and Microsoft recommends updating the service pack and replacing the RAM. See this link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315335
I know that you ran the memory test, but did you actually swap the memory modules out? Also, are you able to run Windows in safe mode? If you can get in safe mode, you might be able to use "System Restore" to roll back your registry settings to an earlier date before before you started having problems with this BSOD.
Hopefully this will get you started. If you need additional assistance you're more than welcome to let us know.

  • Problem with lenovo t60 and the vga output

I have a problem with the vga output and the lenovo t60
When i put the videoprojector connector in to the lenovo t 60, the projector reponde is:
    Not supported
    H: 48.20khz   v: 143,10 hz
On my desktop pc the projector function on 1024x768 resolution and the 60 hz to refresh.
The same configurations are on my laptop and the projector doesn't function
    Please help me.

I too have this problem. My T61 worked fine for about a year, and then suddenly would no longer project. I had made no changes to the settings for the external display, though since the problem started I've tried many combinations without success. Typically the projector reports that the frequency settings the laptop is sending are unsupported. In my case the vertical rate is usually correct (60 Hz) but the horizontal rate varies wildly.
I suspect a hardware problem, as this post suggests: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/av-multimedia-related/32128-laptop-wont-display-projector.html. (Note the message claiming that 6 out of 40 Lenovo laptops exhibited this problem.)
Since my system is still under warranty I guess I'll have to get it repaired, but I'd rather hear of a software fix...

  • My '08 17" macbook pro motherboard replacement has issues

my mac had its motherboard replaced by the recall a couple years back and since i got it back it has been restarting on it's own, if have too much pressure on the keyboard or if the surface under (table) isn't perfectly level.
ONce it restarts - it won't stop until it's level and been powered off and on several times.
I had been living with this problem for the past 2 years as of this february (I believe) until it stopped for 24hrs 3 weeks ago and I was forced to buy again.
My buddy told me it could be because apple hired a 3rd party company to handle the replacements of the recalled motherboards and they neglected to tape a cable that causes the power surge to restart my mac or that they didn't solder the connection.
How can i fix this issue?

    Sorry, let me clarify.
Yes, it was the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT recall
It works, but suffers from restarts when moved from one location to another and must be restarted over and over until the power from the surge stops.
I want to figure out how to fix myself (I do alot of iphone repairs and can handle small fixes) or if needed through apple or a 3rd party.
I need it fixed completely, because I'm sending this to my computer illiterate mother.

  • Install Windows 7 on Lenovo t60

I have a lenovo t60 core2duo 1.83ghz 2gb ram and i have Windows vista it possible to put Windows 7?
Moderator Note: moved to correct board and edited subject to reflect topic.

Yes it will run W7 just fine. Stay with a 32-bit version, though, especially if you don't want to upgrade the RAM.
It takes about 10 minutes to remove the keyboard/palmrest and swap the DIMMs, even if you've never done it before, though...
    Good luck.
    Cheers,
