Can you post a picture of the RAM module?

The T61P takes 4gb of memory in total but each memory slot can only handle 2gb modules. For 4gb total you need qty 2, 2gb memory modules. www.Crucial.com is your friend for easy access to these kind of specs for many different manufacturers.
I'm afraid this is not correct.
T61x can handle up to 8GB RAM, 4GB do work as long as it's not a kind no-name shady RAM brands, some Corsair from the Value Select line do often cause trouble as well.
I have three 15.4 T61, a 14.1 wide T61 and a X61 using 8GB RAM, mostly using 4GB Kingston Hyper X Modules.
The original specs mentioned by Lenovo with a max of RAM of 4GB was because the time this series was released there were no 4GB modules available

  • Lenovo s820 not recognized in computer

I am using lenovo s820 for the past 1.5 years. Recently I upgraded it to KitKat OS and post which I'm not able to connect it to computer. Though the usb cable if fine, cell is not recognized by any computer.
I've tried other cables as well as with other systems also but no luck.

Try doing the Reset part of this procedure
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the battery is weak, you may want to do the Reset while it is connected to your computer running iTunes.  What you need is for iTunes to recognize it and do a Restore.  That will erase the iPod, re-install its software, and set it to default settings.
Having the SIM card in there should not matter for doing a Restore.
Also, the process that allows iPhones to run on a different wireless network is called "unlocking" not jail-breaking (which allows software that is not from the App Store to be installed).  Unlocking should do no harm.  The problem is probably the current state of the iPhone's software not allowing it to start up and run properly.  A Restore should fix it, if software is the problem.

  • Not recognizing memory

    I have an iMac G3 400 DVSE.
I installed 512 MB of Viking RAM today, but nothing in the system profile or About This Computer shows the upgrade.
I purchased from 4 All Memory, used their recommendation for the memory.
Did I do something wrong? Is it not installed correctly? The unit powers up (obvious, I guess, or I wouldn't be able to post) and works.
Thanks for any help you can offer. I hope this isn't too dumb a question.

Theresa, First let's start by welcomeing you to the discussions,
Next, The first thing I would try is power down and or unplug your computer and take a look again at the Ram you Installed. Press it firmly in place, some are difficult to seat properly. Power back up and go to About This Computer and see if it shows up.. If not I would take it back and explain that it is defective Ram... There is a difference in Quality of Ram...
Most prefer to deal with a vendor that will stand by there product 100% and will work with you till they get it ..
    I hope this helps...Good Luck...Don

  • EMac not recognizing memory upgrade

    Hi,
I recently ordered 512 MB RAM module for my mother's eMac (2004 or 2005 G4, 1,25 GHz, 256 MB of RAM). According to the online store I used here in Norway, the following would be compatible:
    Kingston - 512 MB - DIMM 184-pin - DDR - DDR SDRAM - 333 MHz ( PC2700 )
My mother has now installed the module successfully, but the computer doesn't recognize it. I.e. the eMac works fine, but it thinks it only has 256 MB, according to the System profiler. Would this indicate that they sent us the wrong type of memory, or is there something we can do to get it "working"? Thanks.

Take a look at this post from Allan Jones, then return the RAM and (unless the vendor to whom you return the RAM swears a mighty oath that this time they'll get a Mac-specific chip to you) order from a Mac-friendly online source like Crucial.

  • Memory module not recognized on K7T266 Pro2

    Hello.
I have a computer with only 256 Mb of RAM and I wanted to add 256 Mb but my second memory module of 256 Mo is not recognized whereas it  functions very wel.
    Here are details :
    - Mother board : MSI K7T266 Pro2 (ms-6380 v2.0) with 3 memory slots
    - BIOS : Award Modular W6380F1 V3.0 071902
    - Memory module of origin : Samsung 256 Mo PC2100 (2 Sides)
    - New memory module : Corsair Value 256 Mo PC3200 (1 Side)
    Configs Tested :
    - Samsung only : OK
    - Corsair only : OK
    - Samsung in Slot 1 and Corsair in Slot 2 or 3 : the computer starts but with only 256 Mb of RAM (in this config, Everest Ultimate Edition finds both memory modules but also only 256 Mb of RAM)
    - Corsair in Slot 1 and Samsung in Slot 2 or 3 : the computer starts with a blank screen and several beeps.
Can somebody help me so that my second memory module is recognized correctly ?  I specify that I did not modify the BIOS.
    I thank you by advance.

I'm no memory expert, but from being around here I've learned that there is more to a stick of RAM than the MHz speed. If timings etc were perfectly the same for the 3200 and the 2100, the system (the Northbridge) could simply set down memory speed to the slowest of the sticks.
However, I also know that many have been helped by entering BIOS, Advanced Chipset..., and go to the subtitle Memory timings controlled by..., and change from By SPD to By User. Then manually set down to 133 (266 effectively). This is if you absolutely want these two sticks.

  • 10.4.2 not recognizing extra memory module

I upgraded recently to 10.4.2, and now one of my memory modules is not recognized. the machine has the original 512M chip in the upper slot, but the 512M chip in the lower slot is not recognized. in the system profiler under hardware/diagnostics, i get:
    Power On Self-Test:
    Last Run:     7/15/05 7:57 PM
    Result:     Failed
    Failure type:     Memory
    Memory slot:     SODIMM0/J25LOWER
anyone have any idea what's going on??? thx.

"However, I have another problem in that there is no startup chime on my machine, and hasn't been for a while"
Same problem with my PowerBook G4 - 1.5GHz - 512MB, only since the chime problem (not hearing it any more) has the problem with not recognizing the lower memory slot. Not certain if the two problems are related. So it seems from the discussions hear there are two solutions, $600 to repair, or purchase more memory to run in the upper slot. I do have to agree that it would be futile in my opinion to pay for the repair if the same problem emerges again, (as has been reported, at least in the forums,) meaning it could cost $1200 to fix (maybe).
"I think that terming the logic board, "fried" overstates the issue. In fact, the logic board itself is probably in good working order, thus its ability to report on the state of the lower RAM slot. The real issue is the quality of the connection from the lower slot to the logic board--essentially a bad solder. This connection can't be resoldered, so the logic board needs to be replaced."
This statement actually makes more sense then anything I have read so far.

  • CS3 Preferences/Performance not recognizing full amount of memory

I have increased RAM in a Windows XP Pro, 32bit PC, from 2 GB, to 4 GB.  Windows recognizes that I have 3,141,872 kb of physical memory available.  Yet, Photoshop CS3 only shows available RAM of 1705 MB (Edit-Preferences-Performance-Memory Usage).
I am preparing to do Boot.ini modifications to the /3GB, and /userva switches to increase RAM available to PS.  I assumed that PS would show an increase in available RAM, even before modifying the switches.
I've been assured by a knowledgeable Windows/PS user that these mods are straight forward.  Yet, when I told him that PS was not recognizing the new Ram, while Windows XP was recognizing it, he suggested I post this on the Adobe PS forum.
Hence, my thread.   In sum - why doesn't PS recognize the new amount of RAM, or how badly have I misunderstood the concept?  (It's probably operator error.)

CS3 will recognize ~1GB more of your RAM after you edit your boot.ini file to invoke the /3GB switch, not before. Without going into all the reasons why this is so, just bear in mind that the /3GB switch is not risk-free; a minority of computers will not boot at all (in normal, safe or any other mode) once it's enabled. Make sure you have a viable exit/recovery strategy in case that happens to you. Also remember that there is no free lunch even if the switch works without a seeming hitch. In order to give that RAM to Photoshop, you have to take it from Windows. The UserVA that you mentioned helps to mitigate the effects of that theft somewhat. Know also that you can edit the boot.ini to give you the option of running with or without the switch enabled. This is accomplished by means of a menu during boot up. It's also a legitimate recovery option in the event your computer and the switch can't coexist.
I use the switch, but ONLY when I expect to do a lot of heavy lifting in Photoshop. I shut down as many superfluous background apps as I can, including anti-virus and  my firewall. In other words, I don't push my luck by taxing the OS when running with the switch enabled. I would specifically not recommend using it for an everyday computing environment.
I suggest you read a little more before you make the move.
EDIT: Here's my boot.ini. DO NOT USE IT unless your disk and partition assignments are the same. I am posting this so you can see how to give yourself the option of selecting a config with or without the switch at boot time.

  • T61P and Advanced Dock, not recognizing removable hard drive

    Folks,
I am hoping to get some help with my T61p and Advanced Dock.  The Ultra Bay in the advanced dock is not recognizing hard drives that are recognized although they do spin up.  The light comes on and I can hear the drive spinning.  The same ultrabay carrier works with the same hard drive when inserted into the T61p.  If I insert a DVD/CD drive into the advanced dock, it does appear and I can see it to eject it.  These drives were working in the advanced dock several months ago and no longer work.  Is there a set of drivers for the advanced dock or somewhere I can check to see what is there?  Any help or ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks,
    warren

So it looks like you do not have a hardware problem, since SeaTools sees the drive. Probably the 1.5 Gb/s jumper is not needed, though it's interesting to know that it might be if the drive is installed in the UltraBay (thanks globalkiwi!).
It seems to me that there must be a problem with the drive imaging/cloning. Another member is having a similar problem with their R400 and True Image. In that thread, ortegaluis suggested repeating the cloning process with your new drive installed on the internal SATA and the old drive connected via USB. Or is that how you did it the first time?
It might also help to download a trial of the latest True Image and give that a try... maybe Acronis has fixed some problems with SATA drives?
Please post back with your progress (and hopefully success). Good luck!

  • Lenovo C255 - USB Drive and USB HDD is not recognized

    Hi
I am trying to attach SSD (Kingston SSDnow 300 -  60gb) drive to PC via bridge SATA-USB to USB 3 port, so i have "USB to ATA/ATAPI Bridge" stuff at installed devices and no HDD disks appeared at MyComputer . Still i have 2 disks at Device manager - my native HDD and this USB Drive.
The problem is that BIOS doesn't see any USB HDD. Excluded from the bootable device : USB HDD USB CDROM.
So how i can solve this issue ?

    Hi
I will try to help you buddy.
    > When it is started is says "Insert system disk in drive. Press any key when ready
This message appeared on my notebook after the HDD has died.
I had to replace the HDD and to install the OS again.
I assume its the same problem with your notebook. The HDD is not present or not recognized and you have to install a compatible HDD to get the OS running.
I have googled a little bit and found out that this notebook was delivered with the 10GB Toshiba MK1016GAP HDD. It supports the ATA-2/ATA-3/ATA-4/ATA-5 interface.
Please note that many BIOS have an HDD size limitation. This means that not all HDD sizes are supported! I presume a 20GB should be compatible but this is only my own opinion
    > How can I change my BIOS so that the HDD is recognized?
The BIOS cannot be changed apart from the update (check Toshiba driver page -> Archive -> Satellite Archive).
But vary important is that you will use a compatible HDD.
    > Can anybody help me with the recovery CD?
Dont know if you will be able to order this CD from the authorized service provider in your country because the notebook is really an oldie. But you should ask the guys.
What you could is to install the OS from the Microsoft CD and then could install some necessary drivers.
    Greetings

  • Satellite P100: Memory Stick Duo Pro with MSD adaptor is not recognized

When I insert MSDP in the multi card reader of my Satellite P100-473 - Vista preinstalled - (using a MSD adaptor), the Removable media is listed in the Explorer but the card cannot be read.
With a 32MB card, it reports that card should be first formatted... but correct data are inside and should be visible.
With 1GB card, it reports that a card shall be first inserted...
Does anyone has already experienced this issue ?

    Hi
Did you check you user manual ????
Take a look into the chapter 8!!!
There you will find a information that the card reader supports only SD; MMC; MS; MS Pro and xD cards.
As you see it supports the Memory Stick Pro but Not the Memory Stick Pro DUO!

  • Lenovo T61p upgrading possibilities

    Hello dear Lenovo community people,
I am new here and myself I'm an IT technician and I would like to do a few modifications to my Lenovo T61p.
First of all, my biggest plan was upgrading the processor, right now I have a Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 @ 2.4Ghz. I have read many posts and forums about going to Core 2 Extreme X9000 or Core 2 Duo T9300. My question is, are these upgrades possible and how much would they cost in today's used parts economy? Would there be any overheating issues considering the voltage and power they use?
My second question is considering the RAM in my system. I have read that adding up to 8GB is possible, but Lenovo homepage says max is 4GB(which I have). Is it possible for me and how much would they cost in today's used parts economy? Would it be useful?
My third question is about extra add-ons, my edition of this computer didn't come with a built-in SD-card slot, but instead had a built-in Smartcard slot, can I add an SD card slot somewhere(PCMCIA or anywhere else besides USB)?
Also I don't have the firewire port, but instead it has just a black plastic in front of it. Can I add a firewire port there?
Are there also any 3G possibilities on my system, besides 3G USB?
My fourth question is about the HDD, what is the maximum a T61p will support, right now I have a stock 100GB HDD, I was planning on putting a 1TB in, since it fits in there. Is this possible?
Also, what kind of motherboard do I have? I heard the penryn is newer compared to a merom and has more possibilities. How to determine, which model I have?
My last question is considering the TrackPoint, I have the old-fashioned TrackPoint, which the old T23 had(http://blog.codinghorror.com/content/images/uploads/2006/05/6a0120a85dcdae970b0120a86d647f970b-pi.jp... so I really want to upgrade to this new one(http://www.vath.co/images/IBM%20Trackpoint%20SOFTDOME%20165.jpg). Is it possible and will it fit?
Are all these choices useful, considering I do lots of work, install a lot and do med-heavy gaming(CS: GO, old classics, some new ones etc.)?
I am also wondering; which Windows suits me best, right now I have Windows7 Home Premium, what is the next best thing, Enterprise or Ultimate, or stick with Home Premium, what are the differences in perofrmance? Should I go to Windows 8 or 8.1, maybe 9 or 10???

  • Wifi card not recognized after reboot.

I've got a Lenovo X140e and an Intel wifi card. (Intel Corporation Wireless-N 7260) that I installed myself, since the support for the Broadcom card it came with was spotty.
If I reboot my laptop, the card won't show up with either iwconfig or even lspci. If I do a cold reboot (power down entirely and start back up), it will show up just fine.
    What gives?
    Relevant lspci output:

            Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi
            Kernel modules: iwlwifi

When the card is recognized, rfkill lists it as unblocked; when it's not recognized, it doesn't show up at all.
I've got i3 installed; for connection management I've been sort of trying different things - netctl never works but wifi-menu has been pretty reliable. I haven't installed any special power management stuff at all - I'm not really sure how to find out what was auto-installed?
