Lenovo TAB S8 50F touch screen - additional touches when charged w/ insufficient charge

As the title says
There are additional registered touches when the tablet is charging with an insufficient charge that follow the same horizontal line (going across the tablet or the same y coordinates) that appear at mostly random locations (although they start at the opposite side where the single touch is applied).
Issue can be replicated and seen especially when typing,  issue is clearly seen when "show touches" is on (under developer options). Issue present after restarting device; it is not always seen as soon device is charging with an insufficient charger but very soon afterwards (within minutes).
Issue not present when device is discharging or charging with provided charger or higher amperage.
Model: Lenovo TAB S8-50F
Android version: 4.4.2
Kernel version: 3.10.20
Build number: TABS8-50F_S000164_ROW
Software version: TABS8-50F_141103
Hardware version: Lenovo PAD TABS8-50F
Device is 2 days old.
It'd be good to know if this is replicated/observed on other devices.

Well...That's why the update failed to install. If you root the device and uninstall pre-installed system apps(those that you can't normally uninstall)  OTA updating stops working.
Try to perform a factory reset (in the hope it will restore those apps...slim chance but worth a try).
If that dosen't work the only way you will be able to OTA update (and,no...manually downloading the update>installing it from recovery also won't work) is to completely reflash the stock firmware(on your own risk).
Unfortunately you'll have to find out how to do that on your own.Sorry
PS:Generally speaking it's better to ''hibernate''(after rooting) not uninstall if you want to OTA update in the future.

  • My touch screen goes crazy when rain drops fall on it

When I operate my phone in rain my touchscreen responds to the rain drops. My touchscreen responds crazy when raindrops fall on it.

There are other threads concerning this, for example:

  • Torch 9800 touch screen only works when slid open.

Hello everyone, this is my 1st post but I've been lurking the forum for some time. I'm running a Torch 9800 on AT&T right now on v6.0.0.600
This is what's happened with my phone: as the subject notes, my touch screen only seems to work when I slide open the phone.
What I've tried so far that doesn't work: rolling back software, rolling the software forward again, hard resets, soft resets, adjusting intervals for the touch screen.
The weird part is that I saw an older thread that had the exact opposite problem(touch screen only worked when the phone was slid closed). I have a level/ruler app for my phone and it's showing that the phone knows when it's tilted/angle/orientation. I've also closed the phone, opened it slightly (about the width of my thumb) and it stays horizontally oriented + I'm able to use the touch keyboard that way.
Anybody have a suggestion as to what I can try next to fix this? I haven't gone so far as to just go and get a 9810 yet, but i'm considering it.

    Thanks for the post.
Has it in anyway fallen or pressed hard at any point? It could be the belt, which would just need you to go with it to a certified repair center and get it secured.

  • Touch Screen not working when plugged in via usb to laptop

I am hoping someone can help me figure out what to do because I have run out of ideas... When I plug the phone into my laptop via the USB cable provided with the phone (2006 Dell 1710 Inspiron, Windows Vista) the touch screen does not work. The phone is functioning but I just can't use the touch screen to do anything, more specifically, I want to connect as a mass storage device so I can transfer files, music, pictures, etc.
I have downloaded the drives, installed and reinstalled the drivers, soft rest, used all 5 USB ports on the laptop and made sure the ports were up to date for drivers and software on the laptop. Still the screen won't work when plugged in.
My next step was to try it on a different computer so I used an HP desktop running Windows 7. Downloaded the drivers when prompted and low and behold the screen worked just fine when plugged in. It also works when plugged into my computer at work.
Considering the phone works fine on another computer I am guessing it might be the USB ports on my laptop or the software associated with it.
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I would definitely agree with you, Funkytown.  If we know the phone works properly with two other computers and you've run through all the troubleshooting (awesome job!), then we can determine there is something with the computer that is causing the issue.
    Thank you!

  • Touch Screen Registering Touches When Not Being Touched

I am having touch screen problems with my Acer Iconia W700-6821. There are three points along the bottom of the screen (bottom meanng the edge closest to the Windows button) that are registering "touches" when nothing is touching the screen. Two of the spots are about midway between the middle of the screen and the left edge; the third is near the lower right corner. When rotating the device, so that the windows button is at the top, the points registering the phantom touches remain at the same physical points on the device, so they are then at the top of the display. Several "touches" register per second. Device Manager reports that the touch screen is working properly. To troubleshoot, I have tried: cleaning the screen, rebooting (both cold and warm reboots), updating the display driver, updating the touch screen driver, disabling and reenabling the touch screen and recalibrating the touch screen. The problem initially occured while running Windows 8.1, but I have since upgraded to Windows 10 and the problem has persisted. I am currently using the device with the touch screen turned off, as it is virtually unusable with it enabled.I would appreciate any guidance anyone can offer in resolving this issue. Thanks

It's possible for a cable to work loose over time, but I can't think of a scenario where a loose cable would give your symptoms. If you are under warranty it's time to contact Acer support, if you are out of warranty then you might open it up just to verify things are all plugged in solidly. I'm guessing the problem will be between the digitizer and the display, but I don't know how easy that'll be to fix other than a replacement.

  • Blackberry 9900 Touch Screen Disable "TOUCH"

This touch screen makes more unattended calls than any other touch screen. Every time we pull from holster it makes a call. When trying to scroll with keyboard, it selects off the touch screen. Most Bold users don't even want this touch screen feature. How can we disable the touch function?

YES let us disable the lousy touch screen ...... This is a bigger problem than BB wants to talk about, in our case, we are on our 2nd Bold 9930 .... while talking, it will just call the last number dialed, once admitted an incoming call to a conference call, we just replaced our 2nd phone last night and thi morning the same thing. So far, BB says the only work around is to lock the keypad after accepting your call .... UNBELIEVABLE !!!! When will they listen to end users.... it's a buisness phone for pete sake...... all it has to do is take and make calls well FIRST and FORE MOST!!!

  • Iphone 6 plus Touch Screen is Unresponsive When Charging

I just replaced my iPhone 4s with the iPhone 6 plus.  I had several issues with the first 6plus and Apple has already replaced the phone once figuring it was a hardware issue.  (Actually they couldn't figure out the cause of the issues so as a last resort they replaced the phone.)  The second iPhone 6 plus still has an issue with the touch screen becoming unresponsive or erratic while charging.  By erratic, I mean that if the phone is unlocked, I try to open my photos but the phone opens facetime.  Or I try to open the app store and the phone actually opens the settings.  The longer the phone is connected to a power source the more unresponsive or erratic the touch screen becomes.  If the phone is locked, I can't even answer an incoming call or unlock the phone.  Also, it doesn't matter if the phone is connected to my computer or to an outlet.  All connectors (plug and cord) are the ones I received in the box with my iPhone.   The only constant is that the phone is connected to a power source.  It happens both when the phone is charging and if it has a full 100% charge.
The problem is solved immediately when I disconnect from the power source.  If anyone has any ideas on what is causing the issue, I'd appreciate the advice.

Thank you for the advice.  Unfortunately, this did not solve the issue.  In the weeks since my original post, I've tried three different apple cords and a charging cord made by Duracell.  I've tried two different apple wall bases and a generic brand wall base.  I've tried different different power sources too.  Plugging into different wall outlets, different computers, the USB connection in my car and used an adapter to plug into the 12v connection in my car.  I had thought maybe the computer could contribute to the issue so I even tried the computer when I simply turned it on but did not log on.  While the phone was charging, it still didn't fix the issue.

  • Touch screen ipod touch stucked

Have you tried connect the computer and restore the iPod via iTunes?  First from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults.  Also see:

  • Touch Screens and Touch Pads in General Sometimes having Irratic response

I found with the phones I am using, and also with the touch pad on my laptops, and with any touch pad or touch screen technology, they can have issues with scrolling and sometimes with typing, especially of the person's fingers are moist or may be a bit oily. I worked out a solution that has been working with me.  There is a wax on the market called ArmorAll. I simply moisten a tissue with this wax and wipe the surface of the screen. Take care to use only enough, but not too much that it can run in to the phone or device. Apply it like a thin wax. Wait about maybe a minute or two and then wipe and buff it off.
Now the surface will not be able to have a humidity layer from the ambient air. If the user's fingers are a bit moist they will have a lesser effect to have false or irratic changes on the screen. I found this also works very well with computer touch pads.

Actually thats what I was thinking....i dont know which app though...i have all the same apps that I had on my old phone. But it almost seems like it is trying to process something when it starts doing that....So I was thinking the same thing just dont know which one it could be.

  • Touch screen misreading touch commands

    Hello,
I have a bit of a problem with my droid's touch screen. Anytime I touch one thing (Example the U turn arror [Escape]) something on the left side is triggered (while in widescreen position). Tried the same thing and the Current Running programs opens up (as if you were to touch-hold the "Home" icon). After awhile, the entire touchscreen fails to react to any commands. After reboot (via Notes 6 and 7 below), the screen works fine for a few seconds before it presents the same problem as annotated above. Physical keyboard operates properly (including the directional pad). Any guesses as to what may be the cause?
    Thanks!
    Greigh
    ---General breakdown ---
    Device:
    Motorola Droid
    Problems:
    1. Touch screen misreads commands and/or fails to react to any touch commands.
    Notes (to cover all bases/questions):
    1. Device was never dropped.
    2. Device is carried in belt holder (leather case)
    3. Device is mounted on window holder in truck when driving (holder never fell).
    4. Device is also docked in it's holder when not carried around.
    5. No physical scratches, marrs, or damages.
    6. Device was rebooted via the Power button/Power Off command (via directional pad).
    7. Device was cold booted (Power button/Power Off command, removed and reinserted battery).
    8. Screen was cleaned as per directions in the manual.
    9. Physical keyboard and directional pad operates just fine.

usually the battery pull cures alot of things that occur to the android phone.
well, now it just sounds like a faulty screen. you might have to take it in. hope you have insurance. and good luck

  • Touching screen by mistake when on a call

For some bizarre reason recently when I am on a call I keep managing to touch the screen and push mute, speaker or attempt to dial someone else etc! It's driving me mad.
Anyone managing to do the same thing and any suggestions as to how to avoid this? I have got a skin case on it and wondered if that is causing the problem with the angle I am holding the phone. Have had the phone for over a year and it's only just started to happen.

You can easily test your proximity sensor, without making a call, by going to Phone > Voicemail and putting your finger to the left of the earpiece... the screen should turn off.

Have you tried the standard fixes"
    - Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home

  • Why is my ipod touch screen black and when i try to turn it on it won't turn on ?

i was listening to my ipod last week and it went dead , so i plugged it in to my laptop to charge it & to download some songs , the icon that shows its charging didn't come up so i left it in for an our or 2 but my computer still detected the ipod & itunes came up straight away, so wen i went back to it it still wasn't charged so i tried to turn it on the screen went white for a few seconds and ten back to black , my ipod still won't come on. anyone ave any idea's?

Sorry to hear that you're having problems. Tried a restore with iTunes? If not try it and it should work. If this does not work, take it to your local applestore as ths COULD (not saying it is definately) be a Hardware issue.
Hope this helps, Let me know hoe you get on!
