Lenovo Tab2 A7-30F (US) bricked

While Lenovo calls it an A3000, apparently there are at least SOME difference between the US and non-US versions (at least as far as the firmware goes).  While the hardware is practically identical to the international GC, it cannot use its firmware - somehow i managed to actually brick my tablet.  Worse, I CANNOT get the original firmware (US-based, or based anywhere else) for this model, as it is apparently unique to the US - despite it being basically a GC minus calling.  I'm right now trying to unbrick the tablet - but to do that, I need the US firmware/ROM (S000020_442_US), unless i can be certain that the ROW firmware will work in the US.

Helloooooo?  I this thing on?  It's been 4 days since I posed this question.  Any chance of getting an official response?

  • Lenovo TAB2 A7-10 - OTG and Charging of tablet

Hi, I have recently purchased a Lenovo TAB2 A7-10, and I am wondering if the Micro USB port supports simultaneous charging and USB OTG? If so, is there a specific cable available to proved this? Thanks, in advance..

I noticed this after updating to Lollipop, but I believe that it is due to not having enough monitoring time after performing the upgrade.  After a period of time later the data reappeared and the panel worked correctly.  So I do not believe that this is a bug.

  • Lenovo G 500s Insyde bios brick looking for right filename for biosdata to recovery

    Hey,
as you can read in the subject, ich bricked my bios V2.02 when i tried to flash a whitelist-free-bios to my notebook Lenovo G 500s.
Before i tried to update bios, i made a backup of my current bios in .rom format.
I used Andy's tool to get the right filename, the tool gave out: "VILG1X64.F?"
Then I copied the biosfile to a usb stick with activity-led several times with dirrefent filenames and fileendings:
    VILG1X64. fd/rom/bin/bi
    VILG1X64. fd/rom/bin/bi
    VILG1X64. fd/rom/bin/bi
    VILG1X64. fd/rom/bin/bi
    VILG1X64. fd/rom/bin/bi
    VILG1X64. fd/rom/bin/bi
    1X64. fd/rom/bin/bi
    VILG. fd/rom/bin/bi
Anybody with the same notebook, who knows which filename i need? Which file-ending is the right?
    Some Info:
I also tried to use the .rom file from lenovo's .exe file bios update from official download centre.
    Thank you!

Hi, I have an x120e and when I get into the BIOS > Startup > Boot, I see the following list:
    Boot Priority Order
    1. ATA HDD0 Samsung SSD 830 Series (my main disk)
    2. USB HDD SanDisk Cruzer Fit (a tiny usb drive that is always attached and holds assorted files)
    3. USB CD
    4. USB FDD
    5. PCI LAN
The device can indeed boot from a USB stick. I think you will have to follow this order of events: first attach the USB you want to boot from, yet boot only from your main hard drive, to let the system recognize the attached USB drive and put it in the Boot Priority Order list, then shutdown, restart and get into BIOS. F1: to either to change the ordering in the list to put USB FDD or USB HDD SanDisk first) or F12 (I think): to choose a temp device to boot from. Or....... (another thought), the USB you want to boot from hasn't yet been made "bootable" (I think you may have to go into diskpart > etc to set it active) so isn't recognized in BIOS.
I've used a USB flash drive with my recovery partition on it to restore to factory state. That was also a Sandisk Cruzer USB. I've also booted directly into a WinPE sort of environment using another bootable USB made for the purpose of restoring from system images. Mine is an x120e; your x121e can't be much different.
    Cheers!

  • PERMANENT SOLUTION FOR A7-30 A3300 (ALL VARIANTS) TOUCHSCREEN ISSUE

I posted a temporary (semi-permanent, actually) solution before for this:TEMPORARY SOLUTION FOR A7-30 A3300-GV/G/HV/H TOUCHSCREEN PROBLEM (DOWNGRADING/FLASHING FIRMWARE) Since I think Lenovo will not be updating our device anymore, I think this solution will be the permanent way to fix the touchscreen problems. Sorry, I cannot put new screenshots, I am not using a PC... READ THE WHOLE GUIDE AND INSTRUCTIONS FIRST BEFORE TRYING, SO THAT YOU CAN FULLY UNDERSTAND ITTURN OFF THE TABLET AND DO NOT YET CONNECT IT TO THE COMPUTER! 1. You have to download two firmwares for your device:A3300-GV/G:A3300GV_A442_01_43_140826_ROW - This is the OLD firmware we will use to fix the problemA3300GV_A442_01_48_150325_ROW - This is the LATEST firmware that we will flash to our deviceA3300-HV/H:A3300HV_A442_01_19_140827_ROW - OLD firmwareA3300HV_A442_01_24_150319_ROW - LATEST FIRMWAREClick the Download icon 2. Extract the two downloaded RAR files in separate foldersUnblock them first  4. Don't use the included outdated SP Flash Tools and Drivers in the extracted folders (you can delete them). Download the latest versions here:SP Flash Tool for WindowsDriver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00_Win8.1.7zThe drivers are also compatible in others Windows OS versions 5. Unblock the archives first (right click one archive, select Properties, then click Unblock button at the bottom. If there's no unblock button, that means it's already unblocked) 6. Extract the archives 7. Open the Drivers folder, then right click Install.bat and choose Run as Administrator,A terminal window will open, follow it 7. Wait for it to installLoad the drivers, by pressing the volume UP of your tablet (DO NOT RELEASE IT). Then connect your tab to the PC. Wait for it to install the drivers. After installation, disconnect the tab, if it's turned ON, you have to turn it OFF. You can also press the reset button by using a pin. 8. Run the flash_tool.exe as admin in the SP Flash Tools folder 9. In the Download section, click on SCATTER LOADING 10. In the dialog box, open the folder of the LATEST firmware, open target_bin, and choose MT6582_android_scatter.txt 11. Click the DOWNLOAD button ( it doesn't require internet) 12. After you press Download, press (do NOT RELEASE) the volume UP button of your device, and connect it to the PC. You can release it AFTER SP Flash Tools started flashing the firmware to your tab (showing Flash _% in the progress bar) 13. After flashing, SP Flash Tool will show a check icon. Remove the device and press the reset button in the tab. (Step 7) 14. Do not close SP Flash Tool, and click SCATTER LOADING. 15. Open the folder of the OLD firmware, then target_bin, choose MT6582_android_scattet.txtMAKE SURE YOU ARE OPENING THE FOLDER OF THE OLD FIRMWARE 16. You can see in SP Flash Tool, there are checkboxes. Opposite the checkboxes are RECOVERY, SYSTEM, BOOT, UBOOT, ETC. Remove ALL checkboxes except BOOT (NOT UBOOT!) 17. Repeat steps 11, 12 and 13 18. Close SP Flash Tool and boot your tablet DONE

  • Force Firmware "Upgrade"?

Hey, ever since I did a firmware update a few weeks back I've been having strange errors, not to mention that for some reason it updated to the ENGLISH version, making me lose my T9 Spanish Dictionary (native language), forcing me to use Multitap.
Is there a way to force the phone to update to the old Spanish Firmware that I had?

My X301 Intel x18 got bricked also after a BIOS update then secure erase (was going to sell it). I plugged it to a USB kit and onto a desktop and it was recognised and able to format. But plugging it back to the lenovo it is still a brick. My lucky star there was warranty it was replaced by lenovo.
You may want to try it and extract the data, if it works. And hopefully you can still format it and made it work pluggin back to the lenovo.

  • Lenovo A606 Bricked

    Hello,
I have a new Lenovo A606, that came with a strange ROM (IMEI not recognized, some weird WIFI setup) from 2014. I was able to set it up and correct the problems (thanks to google), but I still had some language issues (the Lenovo Apps including dialer, contacts, sms, etc… were English only). I was able to root it fine, and no working problem.
I decided to install a clean stock ROM, ROW: the A606_USR_S036_1502271022_V3_MP_ROW that is more recent and fully supports multilanguage.
I took a PC with Windows XP, and installed the latest SP Flash Tool, following this tutorial: http://androidxda.com/flash-stock-rom-using-smart-phone-flash-tool
I was able to install android adb drivers and the MTK driver from the ROM image. The phone was showing in the devices, then was disappearing, then showing again… I had an error, but then I tried again with the option to update the firmware, and the Flash Tool reached the end and said it flashed succesfully.
Problem: after that, the phone was totally bricked. It would not start at all. When I plug it on the PC, it shows sporadically a device called "VENDOR 0E8D - communication" that disappears very quickly. I cannot flash it again. I just lost my brand new phone…
I tried with SP Flash Tool, and Flash SPMDT, with different ROMs, CN only, ROW, different versions… But nothing. It always says that Flash failed. Even when the phone is not plugged, I have an error with Flash SPMDT, with all ROMs, saying that (1)COM ports number is repetitive or invalid, or (2) Brom and preloader have the same comport number! and it asks me to modify them in INI file or scan again. Of course, scan fails, when I plug the phone pressing vol up + vol down (only way to make the phone recognized by the computer without a battery), the progress goes to 100% then either stays stuck there, or says it failed. SP Flash Tools gives this error: 'BROM ERROR s_ft_enable_dram_fail (4032)'
I tried several drivers, to clean drivers with usbdview, I tried several versions of SP Flash Tools… I don't know what to do anymore. I hope that Lenovo has a warranty and that they could flash it back to normal.
I don't know if it is a problem accessing the META mode on the phone, or bad roms… I tried on one computer with XP, and another with Windows 8.1, and the problem is the same.
ANY HELP would be appreciated, thank you!

  • Bricked Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro-1370 due to broken microsoft ecosystem / unrecoverable admin account

Hi. So now I am here. HELLO EVERYONE! All you friendly and curious troubleshooters. I am frustrated and lost. I will not give you the 14 step Microsoft issue.  But I guarantee this will be one of the more bizarre or interesting problems you have read in a bit.   so tl;dr - my yoga 3 is bricked because the user account switched the administrator to an unrecoverable & disused / non-used outlook.com email account b/c of the MS App store. Their tech has not helped, no recovery has worked at all. I just want to factory reset the hardware at this point, but the software "glitch" needs me to log in to my admin account to factory reset, which is something I can't do.   Way too long of info story:   a) on my lenovo tablet, I had my personal login to sign into my admin profile. I did not use a MS Outlook account at all. In Feb, I signed up w/ a "dummy" outlook.com account for the app store, but never DL anything, and didn't think to realize this account locked me into an ecosystem... I just thought it was a temp email to register, and didn't keep any details. The 1st time it removed my local user account profile from admin, and replaced it with the outlook.com account. I immediately switched it back, that time.   b) 2 weeks ago, I wanted to DL The Economist app. We hadn't used any apps, & again it made me sign in to Microsoft. I signed into my account and DL the app. I believe it signed in with a remembered password, as I don't remember it. It could be one of 15.    c) At this point, microsoft's account removed my personal local lenovo user account, and replaced it with the microsoft outlook.com sign in d) Now, when I try to log in to my tablet, it says "You can't sign into your PC right now. Go to account.live.com to fix the problem, or try the last password you used on this PC". No previous passwords work. This is probably because I tried to sign in a bunch of times under my personal local user account, before realizing it had switched the admin to the outlook.com account. e) I go to account.live.com, and it redirects to login.live.com. When I try to sign in with my outlook.com account, it says "You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect email address or password." f) At this point, a captcha comes up, and no matter how many times I solve it correctly, it won't let me sign in. I did get to a point where I see a different type of screen that says my account is locked. g) When I try any form of account recovery, and attempt to have an email or password sent to my secondary recovery email, those emails never arrive in my inbox. h) when I attempt to have a code sent to my phone, I never receive the code. i) the microsoft support number has a phone tree that leads me to a place that tells me to go online to get support. j) When I try to contact customer support, it leads me back to the login in page. So I made *another* MS account for support, and have spent 2 weeks getting copy pasta support about "try password reset", "try text code reset", "try account recovery". I never get the password reset to my recovery email, I never get the text, and the account recovery doesn't work because I never used the email, and don't have enough information like email subject lines, or folders, for them to know the account is mine.... even though it was a throwaway email to use for the ecosystem, and not to use for anything else. I am still 10 tech support messages in with their support team, and they still haven't realized the problem: I DO NOT CARE ABOUT RECOVERING MY OUTLOOK EMAIL, but I do if that's the only way to gain access to my hardware's admin account. I have tried everything, and it doesn't work. I do not care anymore. I just want to factory reset the **bleep** thing, but it needs my password for the admin account to do it. Ain't that the darndest thing? I mean.. think about it! Microsoft's broken ecosystem of account recovery means their software has intrinisically bricked my Yoga 3 and made it unusable. I can still use a sub-account, but it acts all wonky because it wants me to download apps using an outlook account and when I try to sign a new one in, it leads to broken links, etc. If Microsoft's ecosystem doesn't allow for account recovery in any way, how do I take control of my hardware again? I feel frustrated and alone. This was a HUGE purchase for us, and I never thought a software glitch or problem with the ecosystem would brick hardware in this manner. NB: I know I have to take some accountability for not remembering the password, or realizing the ecosystem being a bit rigid and fierce, especially when trying to find back end understanding or support in recovery.... I had no idea, and that's on me. I also know it's not "bricked" IE unusable, per se... but not being able to log in to the admin account, nor make changes, updates, or get into the app store... it's pretty brickish. Thanks for listening. Any help is appreciated.

  • Lenovo Vibe Z Bricked :(

    Hi,
On Thursday last I wanted to re-rooting my smartphone, because previously I had rooted and from one moment to another was un-rooted (I had no idea why) Between trying and trying, no tool served me for root (even I tried and nothing GeniusRoot)
Then I realized that this was because it had locked bootloader (had a Lenovo Recovery) But could not install from zip, anything but Lenovo (TWRP, CWM, root, etc.)
Then I continued researching and gave a tutorial that was to unlock the bootloader (I tried a lot eh?) And it was a .bat, but needed to have the SuperSU. I do not know how I did it, I think it was by ADB, I managed to install the SuperSU (Root). Once the SuperSU, installed the .bat (I think it was called K910SS ... or similar.) When installing said "Great now I have unlocked the bootloader, install the TWRP now) and run the second file, I strip in pure lines of code errors) I thought, "**bleep** ?!"
In trying to turn out the logo "Lenovo" and then the screen turned off and put the Blue LED. I researched and realized it was in Download mode ... After many attempts I realized I had a brick in my hands every time I put out and relit entered the Download Mode only, no combination of buttons (Well, except for Power Button).
Researching gave corion and seergio's tutorials (From HTCMania), but so far none has helped me
I tried QPST MiFlash and Configuration in Windows XP 32-bit, and 200 seconds MiFlash is delayed in making process, but the smartphone remains the same. The QPST Download button did not appear. I even tried with this tutorial, it is simply left with the recovery and some partitions with files ready for you to enter ROM install any recovery or something, but not let me.
Why this was I? Well, I realized that the eMMC when trying to select my device Qualcomm MMC Storage USB Device, I get in Status as "not writable"
I tried to remove the permissions on Linux CHMOD 777, 666, and nothing ... Does anyone have any idea how to give permissions to the device and be able to repair my Smartphone? Actually I'm already losing hope.
Now the smartphone to connect to the PC, connects with a flashing red light time after flashing a few minutes will Download Mode with blue LED (I think it might be the battery)
I appreciate any help and idea
    Agradezco cualquier ayuda e idea

  • US version Lenovo Tab 2 (A7-30F) Not receiving updates. - Make offline downloads available?

I decided it might be best to open a new thread about this issue, since I don't necessarily believe attention is being given to similar threads once marked as "solved." I am a fairly new owner of the A7-30F model Lenovo Tab 2, and it appears that the touchscreen has some kind of software feature, perhaps to prevent "accidental" touches, that makes it respond poorly to user touch input.  I know it's not a hardware problem, because when I use the Lenovo companion app to test touch and multi-touch functionality, the touchscreen appears to be much more responsive during diagnostics, but the user interface of that same diagnostics app seems plagued by the same touch resistance. I have read elsewhere on the forum that a software patch has been made available OTA, that resolves the touch issues, but My tablet does not seem to be able to find said update, indicating that I'm already on the latest version every time I check the Software Updater.  I even wiped the cache and data from the software updater application, and it still thinks I have the latest software. My question is this.  Is there a staggered rollout of these updates, and are they based on geographic constraints?  Even if I'm not yet to get the lollipop update, is there a reason the A7-30F_S000027_150624_ROW can't be made available via the downloads area so that it can be applied from local media via the updater app?  Can the US version Lollipop update be made available for use with the updater app as well? This should benefit all customers, because it also provides a go-back point in case someone were to upgrade their device to Android 5.x but not like the changes from 4.4.2. Is it safe to assume with 5.x updates being staged and released, that I'm never going to see that 150624 build?

Helloooooo?  I this thing on?  It's been 4 days since I posed this question.  Any chance of getting an official response?

  • Lenovo G40-70 Bricked by BIOS Update

    Hi all,
