Lenovo ThinkPad 170W AC Adapter = $24

I just found the cheapest price on the planet.  They are $115 new.  This is a refurb via Newegg.  Designed for the W520/W530 but compatible with all T/W 4/5X0 machines.  Sure it's not the easiest to lug if you need svelte portability but it's the 170-watter and perfect for a second and dedicated PSU at your work or home location.  Especially if you rock a dock.  Don't delay, @ 80% off they won't last long since the Enterprise is sure to find and stock up.  Just like me!
W530 | 3840QM | 32g @ 1.35v CL9 1986z | 512g 840 Pro | 1t HGST 7200 | FHD AUO v.4 | Quadro K2k | GOBI 5k | Centrino 6300

This is a good deal, but it's really just for W520 and W530 like the website says.
It won't fit in the socket on T520/T530, and W540 uses the newer-style rectangular connector.
I just don't want anyone to be confused on what this AC adapter can be used for.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad Helix 36984SU Power Adapter

My Lenovo Thinkpad Helix 36984SU comes with an output 90W, 2.25A, 20V Power Adapter.  I have a spare Power Adapter with an output that is 90W, 4.6A, 19V.  I have a rectangular adapter that I can connect it to the Helix.  Is it safe to use?
    Thanks

Can you post a picture of the adapter head you tried to modify, because these adapter suppose to come with adapter heads that fit all Lenovo laptops.
It would also help the Lenovo to troubleshoot the problem for you and their product.
Modifying your adapter may potentially avoid your warranty.

  • Lenovo ThinkPad X1 and Dell U2711 / HDMI?

    Hello,
I plan to purchase the Dell U2711 monitor, it has a resolution of 2560 x 1440.
Will my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 handle this over the HDMI port?
    Thanks in advance,
    Simon

Not thru HDMI, but it will thru the mini-display port. You simply need a mini-display port to full size display port cable, something like this.

  • ??? iMAC 2012 27" used as display for LENOVO THINKPAD T500 ???

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T500 (must use for work) and my home computer is a 2012 iMac 27". I would liek to use the iMac as an external display for my thinkpad. I've read everywhere online and haven't found the answer I'm looking for!
I bought a displayport TO minidisplay port cable (both male ends) and connected the imac + thinkpad. Executing CMD f2(displayport activating function) does nothing though. I've tried fn+CMD+f2 etc..etc..  I've read these cables can go BOTH ways... (but have also read some only go one way?) The thinkpad has a dvi output as well but I was hoping to use this DP/MDP cable to connect the two computers as it seemed more logical than using the old DVI/VGA formats...
Has anyone got any experience doing this or anything that might help me solve this dilemma.
    Thanks for your time!

Hi, if it doesn't have a real MiniDisplay Port, I doubt the adapter has what is needed to do it from what I've read.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad E530 - USB 3.0 Ports Not Working Code 10

Hi everyone, so I own a Lenovo E530 with Windows 7 and just earlier today I plugged in my optical mouse into it, about 10 minutes in, Windows gave me a "not enough power message" for my USB 3.0 ports on the left side and they just stopped working. I have 3 USB 3.0 ports on the left side of the laptop, and one USB 2.0 on the right which works just fine.
From there it gave me Code 10 for Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface in the Network Adapter section (which I was able to fix via a registry change) and now what is left to fix is the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller which I cannot seem to fix. I have tried the uninstall/reinstall processes, with Intel's own drivers and Lenovo drivers which were just older version of the Intel USB 3.0 drivers, over and over yet it is still stuck on Code 10, where it will not start.
I never really overused the USB ports either, aside from plugging in a portable USB fan and portable hard drive here and there, and a USB dongle for a wireless mouse and keyboard (Logitech all-in-ones), that is pretty much all I have done with it. I do not believe the ports are not bad or anything, although it may be a hardware problem, but all 3 USB ports still give power on my fan and external HDs when I plug it in, it is just that Windows does not recognize it and nothing happens when I plug something into. But on the other hand, the USB 2.0 port reads just fine and recognizes everything. I have also tried the Troubleshooter multiple times, but everytime it tries to reinstall I get the "Failed" message.
Here is a screenshot of what I am talking about.
    http://i.imgur.com/mKqWpFU.png
    http://i.imgur.com/RLkbyHY.png
I have tried reinstalling and uninstalling the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for W7 using the ones listed on the drivers page through Lenovo and using the newest version fround on Intel's webpage as well. Having done these I still could not get it working, so I did a full reformat of the Hard Drive, from there I am able to get the USB 2.0 and 1 of the 3 USB 3.0 ports to work (the very top one above/left of the HDMI port) and recognize devices when I plug them into Windows. But this is working through not having the USB 3.0 Driver installed and just the basic one without having any updates/drivers installed on. Once I install the USB 3.0 Driver back it, it goes back to the original problem.
The problem still persists even though I have done multiple reformats, uninstall/reinstalls, updating to newest drivers and BIOS, etc. I have owned and still own a whole family of Lenovo laptops which still work perfectly fine, but this is the first time I have seen anything like this go wrong in a laptop. Is there anything else I can try to fix this problem? The laptop just went out of warranty a few months ago, and if I were to send it in and get it repaired would it cost me a lot?

    Hi,
    Can you try this
The Device You're missing drivers for (PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_7814&SUBSYS_380217AA&REV_01) is definitely for AMD USB 3.0, this one's off from AMD WEbsite
    http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/raid_windows.aspx#2
download the AMD Chipset Drivers see if that'll work.
Have you installed the energy management?
If not please install this as well, I'm thinking this is what the other device is for.

  • !TRIED EVERYTHING! PLEASE HELP! Lenovo thinkpad twist super slow WIFI connect to home router

I love my twist i just wish my wifi would work at home!
It connects and works fine at public places
At home it takes forever to connect maybe have to try 5 times taking 5-7minutes and it will disconnect sometimes if computer goes black
I have : lenovo thinkpad twist s230u with windows 8
    I have a : Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter
    I have a : Broadcom driver 6.30.59.26
Troubleshooting that i have already tried: adjusting wifi power settings, downloading lenovo driver
    PLEASE HELP

I would try plugging the laptop directly into your cable modem, thus by-passing the router, and check your connection speed.  Next, connect the router to the cable modem and plug the laptop directly into the router by cable. Compare your connection speeds.  If both work fine by cable, then I think your wifi on the home router isn't broadcasting/working.  You say the wifi connects at work/public, which leads me to believe it is not your laptop wifi card.  What is your wifi signal strength from your home network? work? public?

  • When booting I get an Error 0210: Stuck Key 01 Lenovo Thinkpad

    Hello,
When powering on I get this error
    "Error 0210: Stuck Key 01
Press <F1> to Setup" Please give your valuable suggestions. Thanks in advance. Sukumar

    Hi Sukumar,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that you are getting stuck key error in your Lenovo ThinkPad.
Stuck key error means that one or more keys on the keyboard are stuck. It's possible that a liquid spill can also cause one or more keys to electrically "short" causing the error. Inspect the keyboard and check if any keys are mechanically stuck.
If you're mechanically handy you can remove the keyboard, inspect any chances of damage or corrosion. Plug it back and see if error is still occurring.
Reset BIOS to default settings. Perform Flee Power – remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer. Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and turn ON the computer.
If none of the above said helped to resolve your concern, I strongly recommend you to contact our technical support for assistance.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad T510 Battery?

I recently (about 2 months ago) purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad T510 laptop. Ever since I got it, I have the brightness on 50%, and only use it to surf the internet. My battery life is 2:50 at the maximum.
I have a warrenty for the laptop, could I call in and get another battery for free?
It is quite inconvienent to have to charge and recharge at least twice every day. It makes portability almost impossible.

Do you have discrete graphics? If so, it sounds about right for an untweaked system. There are a few tricks to battery life optimization with the NVidia GPU involving PowerMizer.
    http://somemorebytes.com/wp/index.php/software/nvpmmanager/
Enable PowerMizer, and use Max power save on battery.
Also put your CPU into the lowest speed in Power Manager's advanced mode (battery only; AC should be adaptive).
    Also, defrag.

  • Deploy Win8 on Lenovo Thinkpad 10

    Hello,
Has anyone been able to capture and deploy Windows 8 64B on Lenovo Thinkpad 10? I have  a MDT 2013 and SCCM 2012 environment. Your guidance would be highly appreciated.
    Bchords

    1) How do you PXE boot after Syspreping to capture the image?
Once you have captured your image (to a *.wim file) you will need a deployment system to deliver the *.wim image to machines either via a bootable USB Drive or as you mention a PXE Service. Microsoft offers three systems for installing operating systems
    via PXE:
    1. Via WDS on a Windows Server - bare bones, manual input,
    2. Via MDT Litetouch - More power and scripting.
    3. via SCCM - Maximum control of environments (not for beginners)
It all depends on your environment, and what you need to get going. Too many variables to answer with a single question like this.
    2) Do you PXE using the ethernet port on the stand( tried this and it will go back to boot options while trying to download MDT WIM files) or a USB ethernet adapter?
That will depend on the hardware Manufacturer. ON older BIOS systems, it would be required to have a built in Ethernet port. However with the new uEFI firmware systems, it's possible to load the network driver for an external, even 3rd party, USB to Ethernet
adapter. However your hardware manufacturer may only include a few drivers within the Firmware for PXE booting. Check with Lenovo.
Additionally, you can place the required drivers in MDT on the LitetouchPE_x??.wim boot WinPE, and copy to a bootable USB Flash driver to boot from the network. Here is what I use for booting my Surface Device without PXE:
    3) I've downloaded the drivers from http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds041477
Addititionally if you have problems finding the right drivers for MDT:

  • Dynadock No Ethernet Lenovo ThinkPad

I have a user at my company that has the Dynadock PA3575U-1PRP working on his Sony Vaio laptop, we just issued him a new Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E540 and everything on it works except for the Ethernet port, even after installing the latest drivers from the support section of this website. I have rebooted the dock and laptop itself multiple times but nothing seems to fix it. Also in Device Manager instead of "Unknown device" it shows a bunch of Asian characters.
Looking at his old laptop there are two Ethernet adapters installed (along with the typical Intel adapter), but I'm not sure which one is for the dock. I believe it's the Asix adapter, can someone confirm this for me?

  • Lenovo ThinkPlus TP Drive adapter Ultrabay Slim-HDD 2,5 with T40

I am planning to buy Lenovo ThinkPlus TP Drive adapter Ultrabay Slim-HDD 2,5 for my refurbished T40. Are there any limitations for disk to be used with mentioned adapter ? e.g. Can I have 320 GB disk in this adatper ? I am asking because internaly I cannot have bigger disk then 80 GB (120 GB was not working)
    Thanks
    Jan

You must have been doing something wrong with that 120GB drive, because there's no reason for it not to work. These machines take 160GB with no problems...been there, done that.
    Hope this helps.

  • New to forum and opinions on the Lenovo T420 being my first Lenovo Thinkpad?

First off thanks for letting me join.  Just wanted to get some opinions from some of the more experienced Lenovo owners and users.  I want to pick up the T420 as my first Lenovo Thinkpad.  What is the overall verdict on this laptop (Good build quality, reliability issues, or anything else I should be aware of)?  I use to own a IBM Thinkpad and just missed the overall layout of the Thinkpad specific look and functionality.  To date, the IBM Thinkpad has been my favorite Windows based laptop.  Any and all opinions would be deeply appreciated.
    May God bless!
    Ed

I've only had my T420 for a couple of weeks but so far I really like it.  I reminds me of a mini version of the W520.  My T420 has the i7 processor, NVIDIA Optimus and most of the options.  I upgraded the RAM to 16GB and currently have the Intel Series 510 120GB SSD in the primary bay.  I am waiting for a Samsung Series 830 SSD to arrive.
No complaints so far.  It runs nice, quiet and cool.
If I were going to improve anthing on the machine, it would be the screen.  The 1600x900 AUO screen on mine is fair but I can live with it.  I bought this machine new on eBay for an excellent price.
I am using the 6 cell battery right now and get a little over four hours of battery life. The 9 cell is quite a bit better but I like the flush lighter 6 cell.
Love the keyboard.  The trackpad is fair but I haven't tweaked the Ultranav settings yet.  Been using a mouse mose of the time.
I have several ThinkPads and I think the T420 is an excellent balance of power and features.  I am comparing it to my X301, T410s, T61p and W510.  I added a 34mm USB 3.0 ExpressCard (still testing).
After my experience with the W520 random shutdowns, I won't be totally comfortable with this machine for a couple of months but it's looking really good so far.  I am optimistic.
