Lenovo Thinkpad T410 got errors with Fingerprint sensor device! So frustrating!

I have just bought a new Lenovo Thinkpad T410 2518-FAA from one of main agencies of Lenovo in my country. The new-buy laptop was said to be totally new, i.e. it was not a re-furbished, and I actually checked for manything to confirm the real status of this laptop. However, when I bought it back to my house, a serious problem appeared. At the laptop store, I did not have enough time to check the Fingerprint device, thus I skipped to check it. When I came back home, the Fingerprint sensor error of this new-buy laptop completely drived me crazy!!! I installed the Fingerprint software of Lenovo, but this software continuously reported errors: "Can not enroll users, can not update passport, and can not find fingerprint sensor device." I have tried uninstalled and reinstalled this software many times, and already checked for the latest version of this software, it was Thinkvantage Fingerprint sofware 5.9.3 for Win 7-32 bit. My operation system is Win 7-32 bit. But these errors still appeared again and again. I already checked the status of TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor in Biometric Devices, uninstalled then re-installled this device, and it showed that this device was working properly and up-to-date, and I already unchecked the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", but all of my efforts was in vain!!! These errors still appeared and it drives me crazy! Up to now I had been unable to enroll my fingerprint to set up the fingerprint reader! These 3 errors just kept prompting in front of my eyes! Another problem is that the laptop can transfer files to my Nokia E51 mobile via Bluetooth, but I could not make the reverse transfer for a file from this mobile to laptop! Oh, I am very disappointed about Lenovo now! Inside the manufacture box that carried the laptop, there are just some instruction guides without any installation CD for installing Thinkvantage softwares... I had to go to the website of Lenovo and find a bunch of links of softwares that I tried many times but I still did not know how to donwload... I had to donwload the Thinkvantage Fingerprint software from another website... Please help me, guys! Did you encounter the same problem with me? May you please instruct me how to solve these problems! Thank you a lot!

hey Moon_Light,
i would suggest uninstalling all ThinkVantage software, then go to http://support.lenovo.com ; download all drivers for you unit and install.
at the same time do a bios update as well.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad Compact USB Keyboard with Trackpoint: Middle mouse button and scrolling

    I got this keyboard (KU-1255).
    Unfortunately, it generates bogus mouse button events if I click the middle mouse button and use the trackpoint:
    With "thinkpad scrolling mode" disabled, the middle mouse button is released as soon as I move the trackpoint while still pressing the button!
    Expected behaviour: The middle mouse button is pressed, the event created. Moving the trackpoint moves the cursor normally. Releasing the middle button creates a corresponding event.
    With "thinkpad scrolling mode" enabled, the button is registered as pressed, then scrolling occurs as I move the trackpoint and the button is released if I release it.
    Expected behaviour: No middle mouse button event is registered if I move the trackpoint. Pressing and releasing the middle mouse button is only registered if I click the button without moving the trackpoint.
    When will there be a firmware update available for the keyboard, like for the SK-8855?
    Since I am also using Linux, I would be really interested in fixing this in the firmware, not only getting a new Windows driver.

    Help please.

  • Got Error with System Partiton in VM 3.1.1

    Dear All,
    Who used to convert Physical Machine to Virtual Machine with Window 2008R2 has EFI System partition?
    I don't know whether Oracle VM support Window has MBR, UEFI, EFI, MSR,.... or not.
    Please kindly shared experience about that.
    Thanks and regards,
    Vandy

    I haven't tried what you're asking about using p2v but I have had success Ghosting a physical machine and then ghosting it back down into a virtual guest. Its been a while since I've done it but it works for me most of the time. Might be a viable alternative if you're having issues with p2v.

  • I got error with my slidedeck website, i'm running firefox 20.0.1. Please help me, thanks

    http://hidrolikmobilmotor.com/

    I have the same issue, on a client's site. Client complained that "his" computer didn't display the slideshow anymore. The slideshow is built into his site home page:
    http://www.herbariasoap.com/
    I rolled his FF installation back to v19.0.2, and SlideDeck resumed correct functioning.
    Working from my home, I realized the same slideshow on -my- browser had stopped. My home installation had updated itself to v20.0.1.
    Today, I am working at herbariasoap.com office on a different work station. It also has stopped the slidedeck.
    Please advise.

    Hi jaideepdesai,
    Do you have the accessibility type in page option turned on?
    I think it is [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Inline_autocomplete]
    I it is definitely one of these: browser. urlbar.
    See [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:_About:config_Entries About:config entries]
    By default a new window should open the cursor in the search field on the page. Resetting Firefox will get you back to the default on about:support page.

    In my display, i receive SW1: 6f, SW2: 00

    Dear,
    I haven't any dollar euxx :(
    Yes Eddy, the buffer is allocated. If you want, the code is
    byte[] buffer = apdu.getBuffer();
    short le = apdu.setOutgoing();
    RandomData random_data = RandomData.getInstance(javacard.security.RandomData.ALG_SECURE_RANDOM);
    random_data.setSeed(randomChallenge, (short)0, (short)31);
    random_data.generateData(randomChallenge, (short)0, (short)31);
    apdu.sendBytesLong(randomChallenge, (short)0, (short)31);
    It return SW1:6F, SW2:00

  • X1 Carbon Touch Fingerprint reader 'cannot find fingerprint sensor device' e7210005

    Hi all,
    I've spent far too long trying to solve this by myself, and need to reach out to someone who might have resolved this issue. I've read tons of similar questions online, and rebooted dozens of times after trying many different things.
    I have a Carbon Touch 3444-CUU that can't see it's fingerprint reader. It used to work when brand new, but after lots of lenovo and windows updates, it now does not:
    I am on Windows 8.1, with all updates.
    No problems in device manager.
    Touchchip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF advanced mode) installed under Biometric devices fine.
    Power management set to _not_ turn off device to save power.
    The bios is 2.61.
    I suspect the problem is very low-level, because even the BIOS cannot find device when trying to set it up.
    If I have the lates BIOS, but it can't see the device - what can I do?
    Thanks everyone..
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    BleachedWhale......which settings you have changed in the BIOS......
    It is possible to work-around the issue, but some manual steps are needed:
    1. delete "smihlp.sys" from "c:\program files\thinkvantage fingerprint software"
    2. run "services.msc" and stop the service "Windows Biometric Service"
    3. delete the file "031D23AD-15AF-4e25-B7B3-DE34893097ED.DAT" from "c:\Windows\system32\WinBioDatabase"
    4. reboot the computer (important!!)
    5. now try to enroll some fingers
    This should make it possible to enroll fingerprint and use it to log into Windows, until the bug can be fixed in some future version of BIOS and/or Fingerprint software.
    Best regards from Germany....

  • Errors with Apple Mobile Device Support- won't install!

    I've been grappling with getting iTunes 9 to recognize my iPhone for a month now (BUT iPod mini is syncing fine.) After multiple troubleshooting efforts with this forum, Apple Support articles, and actual Apple employees, I finally realized the error is with AMDS. In the times I've tried reinstalling iTunes, everything except AMDS was fine. For AMDS, it would always say "Rolling back action".
    So I decided to extract the iTunes setup file, access AMDS.msi and repair/reinstall. Didn't work because it rolled back again. Took more tips reading other threads by uninstalling, rebooting, and installing AMDS, but STILL rolling back. I even renamed the Apple file (ProgramFiles/CommonFiles/Apple I believe) and it's still rolling back! I have no idea why.
    Plus in my Common Files I have multiple Apple files. There's Apple, Apple(2) and Apple(5). I tried renaming all of those and still get the rolling back and error message from AMDS. Any ideas?

    Okay ... so it's not (or at least, vastly less likely to be) shonky AMDS installation configuration information that we're dealing with here.
    Right ... let's try making some forward progress again. (Best to print out a copy of the instructions ... you won't be able to use a browser at one point in proceedings.)
    First, navigate to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ folder. If it is present, delete the *Mobile Device Support* folder.
    Now, uninstall your iTunes.
    Now, download and save a copy of the iTunes installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't install from the downloaded file just yet.)
    Reboot the PC. Don't open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Disable your Security Software (antivirus, firewall, antispyware).
    Now start the iTunes install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe you downloaded earlier.
    After the install attempt, you can reenable your Security software and then reconnect to the internet.
    ... Any better luck with that install attempt?

  • Fatal Error with Java ME Device Manager and SDK Updates

    When I say No, it appears to not start at all. When I say Yes, it appears to try to start but I continually get errors as listed above for the Java ME Device Manager startup error.
    After reinstalling the _10 version, things started to work again, so I suspect this is due to my removal of the an older version of the JDK.
    How is the proper way to "update" without causing similar errors? Are the environment variable JAVA_HOME, JAVA2_HOME, or some other variable used to specify the JDK/JRE in use? I would rather not be forced to change my startup each time to specify a -jdkhome related parameter.
    Should I install the new version, find install the "Java Platform" in the SDK/Netbeans, set it as
    Also...
    How do you set the default version from within the SDK/Netbeans?
    And is there a way to prevent the Device Manager from starting?

  • Error with backing up device data

    I upgraded my os from v4.2 to v4.5 about a month ago with my service provider's firmware.  Since then, I'm having problem to backup my device data using the desktop software.  The backup process stopped and returned an error message when the software try to retreive the TLS options data from my device.  I also tried with different versions of desktop software (v4.6, v4.3, & so on).  Does anyone experiencing the similiar problem with the v4.5 os?  Prior to the upgrade, I don't have any problem with backing up my device data.  Thank you.

    So it keeps failing when it gets to the TLS database? If it keeps failing on the same one it likely means that there is a corrupt entry in that database. So you can try a few things:
    What version of the Desktop Manager do you have? If you don't have 4.6  then download load from here and try the backup again: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
    Go into Backup and Restore | Advanced. Using CTRL+mouse click, select all the databases except the one having the error. Then hit the arrow pointing to the left. After the entries are copied to the left side just save them by going to File | Save As. This will save the entries to an IPD file on your computer.
    If that fails you may have to clear the database giving you the error. So once again go back into Backup and Restore | Advanced. Select the database giving you trouble on the right side and hit the clear button. This will erase all the entries from that database. Afterwards try doing the backup.

  • Cannot logon with Fingerprint in Win10 TP

    I have Lenovo ThinkPad T410 with a fingerprint device that I use all the time
    I had a user with my fingerprint configured
    I added my computer to our company's domain and then deleted the other user account as it is not in use anymore
    now, when I try to add my fingerprint to the domain user I get the message:
    as I mentioned - the other user does not exists!
    here already, I would expect to have something more intuitive for normal users. like for example - delete the fingerprint database when I deleted the user...
    now, I can't find a way to get rid of the fingerprint database in order to configure my fingers on my current account
    when I'm on the logon-screen \ lock-screen I automatically try to swipe my finger and the worst thing - it tries to log-in to my previous deleted user and doesn't succeed!
    I tried deleting the registry SIDS under
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Authentication\LogonUI\FingerprintLogon
    still doesn't help.
    now what I care about is deleting my current fingerprint database and I'd be glad to get some help
    but what I think Microsoft should be care about is to make this process seamless for end users...
    thanks
