Lenovo Thinkpad T60

Hallo,

Also: Neuen Akku kaufen.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with start up problems

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with start up problems.  In order to get the computer to start up, I have to unplug it, remove the battery, re-insert the battery and turn it on, once it starts the start up sequence, I can plug in the power cord.
If I plug the cord in before I push the power button, all of the lights go out, and it does nothing.
I have tried several power supplies, and a new battery, even though the old battery seems to work.
All of the updates are applied, including the latest bios update.
The computer seems to work normally unless it goes into standby, then it just turns off.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

    Hello,
Did you replace the primary battery which snaps into the back, or the internal CMOS/RTC battery inside the unit?

  • Lenovo Thinkpad T60 / Monitor Issue

When I boot up my computer intermittently the bottom half of the screen is horizontal garbled. I can put the top down to put in hibernate mode and open up and press the on button and most of the time it will fix the problem. Any clues??? Thanks for any info!!!

Since you are a Telephone engineer, dealing with cables and reading manual must be piece of cake for you. Luckily, Lenovo offers a fantastic manual that you follow each step of the way to diassemble every part of the laptop.

  • Thinkpad T60 fan noise

    Hello
I own a Lenovo Thinkpad T60 laptop. Lately fan of my laptop started making a whirling sound. Its been only 2 years since i have purchased the laptop and now i am running with this horrible fan noise.
I want to replace the fan with a new one. So i have checked the hardware manual of Lenovo and found out that at some point i have to apply thermal great at a location of fan assembly at the time of installation.
What thermal grease i have to use for this. If i buy the fan assembly at Lenovo, will they send me the thermal grease also.
Also do i need to buy the same fan model as the existing one... If it so, where can i find the fan model in my system..
    Your responses are greatly appreciated.....

    Hello,
the simpliest  method is to use your 3years warranty and send it to depot.
The other way is to do a parts look-up on Lenovo support page, see link on top of this page.
Then your get the FRU number, search for it at Google, also for thermal grease like Arctic Silver.
The fan isn´t very expensive may be 30$ and it´s not difficult to deploy it. But you will loose warranty!!

  • ThinkPad T60 USB Ports and Human Interface Devices

Hi. I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T60 and an HID gadget.  When I try plugging it into the left vertical USB port, it installs and works just fine; however, when I try plugging it into either USB port on the right side, it always malfunctions and doesn't install or work correctly.  Is there any solution to this error, and what's exactly causing it? I've tried the following:
    -Updating laptop BIOS
    -Reinstalling all USB drivers
-Reinstalling the driver of the device
Thanks in advance for some advice.

I believe you'll find the right side usb ports are part of a separate usb card that connects to the motherboard with a cable, the ports on the left go directly into the motherboard. If the ones on the right aren't working, then you may have a bad usb card. This part can be easily damaged too, bumping a device while plugged in can damage it.
The easiest way to test it would probably be to get a known good usb card and plug it into your motherboard. I believe this can be done temporarily as a test with only partial disassembly of the laptop. Replacing the part would require removing the systemboard/frame assembly from the lower case. I believe you could test if a new card solves the problem by removing only the keyboard and plugging it into the motherboard. It's hard to be sure without knowing exactly which T60 you have, and without having one in front of me to refresh my memory.

  • LENOVO 1951FDG ThinkPad T60 XP SP3 system eventlog locket out laptop slow.

LENOVO 1951FDG ThinkPad T60  XP SP3 system eventlog locket out laptop slow.
We had this on three laptop T60 the laptop is slow.  If you look in the event log the system event log has a no entry sign and you cannot see any event in the system log.  What we normal do is clear the log down.   Then restart the laptop it will be OK for some time before the system log become locket out again.     Is this a known problem with the T60?

    Hi JJtassey,
    Welcome to the forum!
You can halt the BSOD by going through following:-
'Right Click on My Computer - > Properties - > Advanced System settings - > Under start up recovery settings - > uncheck automaically restart - > OK'.
Thereafter you can read the blue screen and through error message track down the problem. I also suggest running complete PC Doctor's or lenovo thinkvantage toolbox test on your system:-
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-73783.html
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-56222.html
As for reinstalling Windows, you can do so by restoring your thinkpad to factory settings from recovery partition. Press thinkvantage boot when thinkpad logo comes up on boot and choose restore to factory settings from the list of options. You might want to save your data some where in advance as it will be deleted in the process.
If you want to install your own Windows then you would need to set SATA AHCI to Compatibility mode in the BIOS for the hard drive, your drive will then be seen by windows disc since it does not have sata ahci driver.
    Hope it helps.

  • Thinkvision 2251 WEBCAM compatible with Thinkpad T60?

    Greetings,
Purchased a Lenovo Thinkvision Monitor with integrated Webcamera model L2251x 22" wide screen. Have a Thinkpad T60 laptop. After nearly 7 hours of online support, telephone support and researching customer forums, loading every driver I can find for the monitor and laptop, I'm down to a program called Lenovo Webcam Center by Intervideo. Driver from Lenovo website noted below:
    HYPERLINK "http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options/mediaonegallery.exe
I am at the point where it asks me to enter the serial number for the software. As the webcamera came integrated with the Monitor, and the T60 had no webcam, I have no serial number. I checked out the Intervideo website to see what it would cost to get the SW license, but it says it is no longer sold. I would be willing to pay a nominal amount to get this webcam working.
Can I get a serial number for this old software? If I do, you think the T60 and 2251 Monitor are even capable/compatible for Webcam? Lenovo has been poor at support and this seems a common issue on the customer forums.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Painfuul 7 hours trying to figuure this out, anyone know?
Have loaded every driver I can find for Webcams from 2251 CD, Lenovo for both laptop and monitor and every forum link I could find. Down to this WEB gallery driver from INtervideo that seems no longer supported and stupms me at the SERIAL number during load as thwew 2251 didn't come with this (and the T60 had no cam to begin with).
    Any help appreciated.

  • Lenovo Thinkpad T510 body cleaning

Hey so I just got a T510 and I have realized that the back of my laptop is full of my finger prints due to opening and closing the screen. Now my question is, what cleaning tools do I use to wipe it off and make it look brand new again? This is probably the only thing I hate about this laptop, that every time you touch it, it leaves a mark
    Please help me !
    Thanks

Hi and welcome to the forum!
I use a microfiber cloth and small chunk of water to clean my gears, but if something is really dirty and can't be cleaned through water then I apply tiny amount of soap to the wet cloth.
There are many products available in the market too, but I don't trust any, YMMV.
Lenovo Blogs has some tips too:- http://lenovoblogs.com/designmatters/?p=121

  • Lenovo ThinkPad Z61t running hot , is it?

I bought a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad Z61t. It has Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz T7200 . It came with Ubantu OS installed. It looks and runs well , however it seems to run quite hot. Earlier I used TP X200 and compared to that this runs quite hot. I checked the Ubantu inbuilt Sys info. to see CPU temperature and this is what I get
    Sensors
    ACPI Thermal Zone
    THM1 59°C
    THM0 61°C
Is it normal or its really running hotter then normal?
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum!
It's not that bad, but it could be better. My experience has been that ThinkPads tend to run hotter in Linux than in Windows.
Try cleaning the fan and also take a look here:

  • Thinkpad T60 Error Message - Diskeeper Lite

I have a 2 year old Thinkpad T60 (1953-D6U) running Windows XP Pro SP3.  Recently, I have seen an error message when starting Diskeeper Lite, which came bundled with my computer.
MMC has detected an error in a snap-in.  It is recommended that you shut down and restart MMC.
    * Report this error to Microsoft, and then shut down MMC
    * Continue running and ignore errors with this snap-in for the rest of the session
    * Continue running and always ignore errors with this snap-in, regardless of users or session.
Does Lenovo offer an upgrade to Diskeeper Lite or know how to eliminate this problem?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Usually the installable setup file is located at c:\swtools\apps\dkeeper...
Unless you have formated your hd and don't have a backup you should be able to find it.

  • [SOLVED] Too average sound level [Thinkpad T60]

    Hi,
Since a week I've changed my computer to an old one, a Thinkpad T60 (2006). And ArchLinux works mostly fine except for the sound level. In each programs, even in alsamixer, I put everything to the maximum level (Master, PCM, sound level of the program etc) and it's still too close of an average level. My speakers on other device are two times stronger than on the T60. Even if I plug headphone the sound is still too close of the average power of my speaker.
Since it doesn't seems to be a configuration problem and if the speakers works great as usual, it seems to be a problem related to the T60. I've tried the mini jack on the laptop and the one on the dock, still the same result. I've also a Razer keyboard which have a mini speaker input too, same problem.
This is my sound card: Intel Corporation NM10/ICH7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
I don't know what to do to solve this problem, if I can.
Thanks for your help and tell me if you miss an information.
    Cordially, Koshie

Did you turn the hardware volume level up? (Using volume buttons, potentiometer, although lenovo does not mention that) I doubt that there are settings on volume level/gain in bios/uefi. As last resort, you can always add a softvol plugin to your alsa configuration.
Can you test volume levels with another operating system? Maybe even another live linux distribution like mint. Please post following:
    aplay -lL; lspci -nn | grep -i audio; amixer -c 0;

  • Black screen after suspend on a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E525

    Hi everyone!
I own a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E525 which is running Arch. After waking up my laptop from suspend mode, the screen stays black and the laptop doesn't seem to respond to any input (even the SysReq keys don't seem to be working
I followed the instructions from the wiki (especially the laptop specific page and the pm-utils page), but it still doesn't work.
I'd be happy to provide more information if necessary.
    Many thanks in advance,
    ElVirolo.

    Any other insights?
I'm having this same problem on my Thinkpad T60. Both suspend-to- disk and -to-ram result in a system which does not respond. The  crescent moon led indicator stays lit after resume. At first there's some disk activity and then nothing.
My system worked fine about a week ago, but after upgrading (to kernel 3.3.2-1 among other things), I haven't been able to suspend properly anymore. I have tried all sorts of fixes in the wikis and around the net, but nothing at all seems to help.
Has anybody else had suspend/resume problems after recent upgrades?
Edit: Also, after trying to resume, I can hear the fan beginning to rotate. Though the laptop seems to be unable to wake up, the fan is active. I also assume the CPU is under a heavy load as the laptop gets quite hot on on the left side.
Edit: Downgrading kernel does not help.
    Edit 2:
    Ok, this is weird.
I normally don't have the module (snd-hda-intel) for my sound card loaded. As soon as I load it manually, at least suspend begins to work normally. Why is this?
Is there a way to tell the kernel not to touch the module when resuming from suspend? I have the module blacklisted.
