Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox - diskspacecheck.dll?

For the last 3 days my system has, all by itself, started attempting to copy diskspacecheck.dll.  A small error window also opens which says the file already exists.  No other info available.  Happens about the same time each day, around 2 p.m.
Has anyone seen this?  I've googled it but find very little.  Just enough to know it is related in some way with Lenovo.
I'm running a high end anti-virus which is up to date but it is not reporting any issues.
Any information will be appreciated.

I would also like a solution to this problem without reference to CCCleaner.  The last time I had that on my computer it caused many problems.  You should check out their forums!  (It's been a while, maybe they've fixed that software by now but I'm not willing to gamble on it.)
In addition to the DiskSpaceCheck error, I get the same error naming DotNet35Sp1Check as the offending file.  It has really become annoying.  It steals the focus at really annoying times.  I tried searching for DiskSpaceCheck.dll in the path indicated but was told there were no files found.  When I searched for all dll files in my documents and settings folder and below, I was presented with 99 copies of each of the files above, and 62 copies of something called FixMyBuild, also a dll file.
Since they were all in the temp directory, I'm gonna delete all of them and hope that the errors stop.  So far so good, but it would not let me delete "Temporary 10 for (filename).zip" for each of the files listed.  They were in use.  There were 99 of these temp file zips each for DiskSpaceCheck and DotNet35Sp1Check.  There were 62 of them for FixMyBuild.

    Hi,
can you please tell me if you have changed any configuration on the Toolbox?
This message it telling, that (maybe) you have configured one of the options to start a string, that is longer then 128 signs.
Let me know, if you have any add info to this situation.
Try to rested the default settings for the Toolbox.

  • Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox will not start

I was prompted to download and install this software, when I try to run it I get a window pop-up that says:
    License Authentication Failed
This version of Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox is not licensed to run on this system.
    And the program closes.
    I have a Thinkpad T61p 6459CTO with Windows XP SP3
    Please help!

Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox relies on information in the system BIOS. Has your system board been replaced or have you recently updated the BIOS? You should be able to confirm that the BIOS contains your machine type model number (6459CTO):
    1. Press F1 during POST
    2. Look at the System-unit serial number, about halfway down the screen
    3. The first 7 characters should be 6459CTO
If the information is is correct, there is one other possibility. We have seen this issue occur on a couple systems when the hard drive is nearly (99%) full.

  • Lenovo ThinkVantage ToolBox v6.0.5692.08

Vista 32 ThinkCentre model 7484 CTO. ToolBox has worked fine until just a couple of days ago - I believe there was an update done. Now, everytime the computer is "on" the Toolbox constantly runs the scan - it runs to completion and within 2 minutes, starts again and runs to completion and then again. No problems are ever found. The schedule shows it running once a month. In other words, the scan is running almost constantly!
How do I stop this behavior?

  • Can't remove Access Connections and ThinkVantage Toolbox icons from taskbar

I've just re-installed from my Lenovo system back-up disks.
The Lenovo Power Controls icon on the taskbar was easy enough to remove. There was a checkbox under Options.
The Access Controls options show a checkbox to remove that icon as well, but the entire screen is grayed out (inactive). I changed to my admin account and unchecked all the boxes (the screen even says it will affect all users). I also went into the Global settings and unchecked the box there as well (not sure why it's in two places). I rebooted. The icon is still in my non-admin account, although it is gone from the admin account.
On the admin account, all the boxes are unchecked. On the non-admin account, the "Show Accees Connections icon on taskbar" is still checked, but still grayed out. Not sure how to proceed. Definitely do not want this big, ugly icon on my taskbar.
Also, the ThinkVantage Toolbox icon suddenly appeared on this install (wasn't there before, haven't ever seen it). This one doesn't even have an options section with a checkbox to remove it from the taskbar. It also never showed up in the admin account from day one, only in the non-admin account.
Any information on removing these two icons from the taskbar would be greatly appreciated.

As far as the Lenovo Thinkvantage Toolbox icon, this is probably PC-Doctor.
Launch PC-Doctor.  Click the settings button.  You can then uncheck the show icon in taskbar item.

  • Thinkvantage Toolbox causing PC Crash

So when I try to run a diagnostic on my T60p for the video card, it comes up with a blue screen of death- likely due to the lack of a fully compatible video driver for Windows 7. The really crappy part is that because of the systematic error, the diagnostic never yields a result as to what exactly it is that is crashing. So, Lenovo doesn't get a copy of the system-error. Windows does send it to Microsoft, though. Any idea what can be done to fix this?
Also, if you are running 7 on a T60p, i would not recommend running this diagnostic.

    hey BruceForum,
uninstall the ThinkVantage Toolbox, go to our support page via http://support.lenovo.com
download the ThinkVantage software directly from here and install.
    once done, try again

  • Move thinkvantage toolbox from taskbar to system tray

    Hello all,
I've read the posts about removing the Thinkvantage toolbox icon from the taskbar, but what I want requires another step. I'd still like to have an icon always viewable to remind me to check on the statuses it provides, but this one is too big - twice the size of my normal taskbar icons. I'd like it to be a system tray icon, which would make so much more sense. Is there any way to make this happen? It's a long shot I know! If there's no known way, perhaps Lenovo can consider this a feature request.
    Thanks!

your virus & or firewall maybe blocking it from connecting to the warranty server.
is the warranty the only missing system info?

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox - Security and Networking

    Hi,
I have installed the ThinkVantage Toolbox and Norton Internet Security. However, the Toolbox apparently doesn't find the Norton Internet Security as it tells me to install Norton Internet Security for the Virus Protection. What is going wrong. I just don't want to say "ignore.
    Thanks,
    Wim

May be your security centre in windows is not activated.
If you click in the sec center you may see that it is not started.
    If so do the next:
Go to start >> run > type there >>>> services.msc
Search for your >>  security service in the list.
Click 2 times on security service and change it from disabled to automatic..
    Restart your comp.
If you now go to your security centre you will see that norton is above the microsoft stuf.
And also in the lenovo  toolbox you will see that sec and network has a green V now.

  • RTC Accuracy Test error reported by Lenovo's ThinkVantage Toolbox 'Quick Hardware Check'

When I run Quick Hardware Check on my T500 using the Lenovo ThinkVantage Toolbox, a RTC Accuracy Test error is reported.  Do I need to care about this error and how do I fix it?  Thanks.

    hey rmbowma,
judging from that error, looks like the CMOS battery that makes sure that the internal clock is dead.
i recommend getting in contact with the support team about this.

  • Thinkvantage Toolbox icon on the Windows Task Bar

I have tried removing the Thinkvantage icon from the task bar; but it returns when I reboot.  Am I missing something?

ok, you guys are going to love me, or everyone else having this issue at least.   Its not a total fix, but asthesically it works.
Issue: Thinkvantage Toolbox icon hijacks the "explorer" icon.
    to get it back
first if you have modified the properties of Thinkvantage Toolbox - then change it back.
Start > all programs > Thinkvantage Toolbox > right click > properties > target = (paste this in there)
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe ::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683}\2\::{A8A91A66-3A7D-4424-8D24-04E180695C7A}\Provider%5CMicrosoft.Base.DeviceDisplayObjects//DDO:%7B00000000-0000-0000-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF%7D\cat{8AA6B0C2-14A6-4da8-BF36-F7D93ACE9ACE}
Next - right click on the pinned Thinkvantage Toolbox icon > right click where it says Thinkvantage Toolbox > target = %windir%\explorer.exe > in the same window > Change icon > the look for icons path is corrupt > paste %windir%\explorer.exe in the bar, then choose the "folder" icon. > OK > OK > DONEEE!!!!!
Thinkvantage Toolbox = opens Thinkvantage Toolbox
windows explorer icon = opens libraries directory.
    You're welcome.

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox works but crashes when clicking on "settings"

    Hi.
I have just changed my HDD, from a SG Momentus 500GB to the same but 750 GB. Computer's a ThinkPad T410, OS is W7 Ultimate 64bit.
With the previous disk I never experienced any issues with ToolBox, while with this one everything works, but when I click on "Settings" the program crashes. I tried uninstall/reinstall, but same result.
Even though I read of issues with Seagate disks, I don't think it's disk-related since with the previous disk I had no issues, and since everything else, including tests on disk, works.
    Any idea?
    thanks

    UPDATE:
LTT latest version 6.0.5849.23 works fine on my X200T and T410 - no crashes whatsoever.
However, my X301 always had the crash issue . Planning to do uninstall and registry clean-up later and see what happens.

  • ThinkVantage Toolbox failed to start when Tawian Calendar is enabled.

ThinkVantage Toolbox failed to start (crashed initially) when Tawian Calendar is enabled.
Tawian Calendar (also ROC Calendar) could only be available on the Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) Windows.
I have met this problem on Windows 7 x64 (Traditional Chinese (Taiwan)) on both T61 and T520.

    hey ShikiSuen,
i'm guessing that ThinkVantage Toolbox can launch IF the Taiwan Calender is disabled ?
curious to know, which version of TVT are you using ?

  • Removing Thinkvantage toolbox from task bar

Just got an E320 which is great but seems Im not alone in wanting to hide the thinkvantage toolbox widget in my task bar and I am struggling!
There seems to be a bug as i have right clicked task bar, selected toolbars and deselected it but this only seems to work temporarily ie as soon as I reboot the laptop it reappears.
I have also tried going into the settings of the toolbox itself and deselecting the radio button that says "show icon in taskbar' but again this only works until the next time I reboot.
    can anyone help?
    Thx
