You're not. You can remap some, tough. As I did in the S430 since I wasn't using the INSERT key at all.

Is there a substitute for the missing Delete key?

I'm pretty unhappy with the new half bluetooth keyboard, probably because I have never been a laptop user. Big is better to me. One of the keys I am really missing is the delete key in the middle panel that deleted from the right rather than the left. I'm wondering if there is some kind of workaround to achieve that function without doing what I have been doing, i.e., moving the cursor all the way over to the right of what I want to delete and then using the remaining Delete key--a lot of trouble, I think.

I have a iMac running on an iMac and the F operation keys are not working properly.

My new iMac bluetooth keyboard is having issues all of the F operation keys are not working exept for F12 witch is supposed to be volume up takes me to mission control. I went into system prefrences and there was no setting in keyboard for the volume keys there are some settings for the operation keys but they are all checked and they are still not working and the settings that are checked arn't even what the keys are supposed to do. Please help.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

Problem with lenovo t60 and the vga output

I have a problem with the vga output and the lenovo t60
When i put the videoprojector connector in to the lenovo t 60, the projector reponde is:
Not supported
H: 48.20khz v: 143,10 hz
On my desktop pc the projector function on 1024x768 resolution and the 60 hz to refresh.
The same configurations are on my laptop and the projector doesn't function
Please help me.

I too have this problem. My T61 worked fine for about a year, and then suddenly would no longer project. I had made no changes to the settings for the external display, though since the problem started I've tried many combinations without success. Typically the projector reports that the frequency settings the laptop is sending are unsupported. In my case the vertical rate is usually correct (60 Hz) but the horizontal rate varies wildly.
I suspect a hardware problem, as this post suggests: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/av-multimedia-related/32128-laptop-wont-display-projector.html. (Note the message claiming that 6 out of 40 Lenovo laptops exhibited this problem.)
Since my system is still under warranty I guess I'll have to get it repaired, but I'd rather hear of a software fix...

Don't get burned by topdreamweaverextensions and the video inserter

I have been a member here for over 9 years and want to report and warn of the Videoinserter or video inserter.
I would advise against buying the videoinserter, and as I have been treated poorly by their support staff and advise others not to have anything to do with any of their extensions in any way shape or form.
I bought this extension do simplify inserting a youtube vid in a dw basic page. The installation was cumbersome, and the command is an a very awkward place in the menu. Their is really no documentation with it, you have to spend your valuable time digging through their web site to find the specific instructions, they were too lazy to set up a page where the instructions would be easy to find.
The bottom line is you will likely run into trouble with this, so as a long time user of DW and member of this forum.avoid them like the plague.
I put in a support request and was not replied to in a timely manner.
I have asked for my money back and they have refused. This is my opinion and hope this will save someone the frustration with the video inserter and topdreamweaverextensions.com

I sent a support request that was not answered in a timely manner, no where near it with the following from their support team,

Don't you think it would have been a good idea to include this in the instructions? How difficult would it have been to add a line in the instructions to say, "Make sure you have AC_RunActiveContent.js uploaded to your web site." Makes my point clear on weak documentation and the fact remains no matter what they say, they did not reply to my support request in a timely manner, I found another fix in the meantime.
One has to wonder many else of their plug-ins need some "hidden" solution to make them work. Save yourself a headache and avoid topdreamweaverextensions.com.

Why does my Right arrow key type the number "8" and the Up arrow key type the number "9"

Whenever I hit the right or up arrow key on my macbook, it does shift either right or up but it also type either the number "8" for the right arrow key or the number "9" for the up key. How do I get this to stop? It's very annoying

Runtime error R6034, itunesHelper.exe and the missing library MSVCR80.dll

I made the mistake of upgrading to the new version of itunes and I appeared the following errors:
- Runtime Error R6034 on ituneshelper.exe
- Library MSVCR80.dll not found
- Error 7 (windows error 126)
I tried to install and uninstall as they say apple forums, I researched on my own restoring records, and review it with MicrosoftFixit which is also a solution to the problem but none of the options mentioned above solves the problem. I'm about to format my pc, but I read it in 3 forums that solution does not help. Lords of apple, what's going on with you? Sorry forgot to mention that since I restored settings to my pc that was 1 month ago and nothing happened.
I have windows XP
250 gb hard disk
1 gb RAM

first disable your antivirus (you can re-enable later)
go to start, right click on computer and choose properties - note if you have 64 bit or 32 bit operating system
then make sure all users on the computer are logged off
log into admin user (if yours isn't already one)
then uninstall in this order
itunes
apple software update
apple mobile device support (if it won't go - support.microsoft.com/fixit - skip step 1 and go to step 2 - click install or upgrade software or hardware - then scroll down to the bottom of step 3 and click run now next to Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled - basically tell it you want to manually tell it want you wantto do and then choose to uninstall and choose apple mobile device - if it freezes or stops around the end then just quit it and relaunch control panel and the apple mobile device should be gone)
then continue to remove
bonjour
apple application support
then restart computer
click start - left click on computer - double click on c drive
double click on program files
make sure the itunes, ipod, and bonjour folders are gone - if they aren't select them, then right click and delete
if you are on 64 bit
complete the steps for program files and then also do program files x86
if you had to delete any of those folders manually restart again afterwards
for 32bit os - go to www.apple.com/itunes and download new itunes
for 64bit os - support.apple.com/kb/DL1615 and download the 64bit version of itunes for windows
this will resolve any issues related to the update
NOTE - this will not touch your playlists or media files - your songs are not saved in the itunes application itself those are in a different folder in your music folder

Finder and the missing side bar

Hi- tonight I purchased a new external hard drive. I got home and backed my computer up. No big deal. I also purchased Snow Leopard since I only had Leopard. I think everything went fairly smoothly. However, when I open my Finder I do not have the side bar anymore. I went into preferences to the side bar settings, made sure everything was checked to be up an on the sidebar and still no luck. Any advice on how to get my sidebar for the finder back? Thanks!

Well, I figured it out myself. Sometimes just posting the question makes the answer come to you! For those who my have the same problem in the future- there is a small rectangular box in the upper right hand corner. click on it and the side bar will appear.

Wifi and the missing status bar symbols

My status bar has changed (or, did I press something?) so that it now only shows iPad, time and battery strength. It works perfectly at home but I can no longer access wifi when away from home. How do I restore the status bar to its original format?

Tap Settings / Wi-Fi.
If it's already on, try resetting.
Hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

NetworkManager and the missing domain

I was facing this issue, after i changed one of my domains ip, i was unable to resolve its name on my arch machine (ping mydomain) , my first thought was delayed propagation of dns, but that was not the case, on another machine i could reach it , if i turned my vpn on i could reach it.
Now comes what is driving me crazy, i try refreshing all dns caches i read could exist on the arch wiki to no avail, i also created a network profile with a different dns server (it works!) trouble is after a reboot a new profile appears in gnome network and the profile i created has to be manually activated.
So why my domain is unreachable on my machine alone?
How to i prevent NetworkManager from creating a profile on boot so it can stick with the one i created?
Man i am trying to solve this for 3 days with no avail its becoming darn obsessive! this issue need to go away from my (almost) perfect functioning arch machine!

Some early reaction to the new version of Final Cut were negative because its appearance was perceived as a dumbed down version. The reality is the UI redesign and added features are a step forward in the area editing. As for the future of products like Color, DVDSP, Motion and SoundtrackPro, (I trying not to speculate) I'm sure that the kind of improvements seen in Final Cut Pro will also be apart of the next versions of those products.

Vim and the backspace/delete key...

Hi folks,
Whenever I'm editting a file in vim the backspace key, rather than removing the preceding character, adds a '^?' character instead. The delete key on the other hand behaves like the backspace key should.
Can someone remind me on how to establish normality please...

   The answer to fixing vim is described in :help fixdel. Entering something that looks like the following in your vimrc will cause the delete key to behave like 'x':
set t_kD=^[[3~
However, the part after the equal sign, '=', is a mnemonic for <ESC>[3~ and can be entered in vim or the shell with the following key sequence: (much like in the stty command)
<Control>-v,<Delete>
where the <Delete> key is the one you want to map. This is more or less a general principle. <Control>-v "escapes" the character that follows it, causing it to literally be printed into the terminal window. All you have to know is to what "action" (here t_kD) to map it.

My Keyboard and the Delete/Backspace Key

So last night I was looking through my system settings and making small tweaks here and there where I wanted them. It was a nice little experience. However, I somehow disabled my delete(backspace) key completely. Also other keys like my shift key are suddenly sticking. I have gone back in and tried to restore everything back to factory settings on my keyboard and still nothing. Am I missing something or is there somewhere else I should be looking to fix this besides going into System Preferences>Keyboard and Mouse>???? I am so confused I do not know what I did.

Yes. "Shift key sticking" sounds like 'Sticky Keys' - check in System Preferences > Universal Access > Keyboard.

Laptop invoice and the missing RAM mistery.

hello,
i purchased a T500 laptop online from lenovo.com 2 years ago. does anyone know if i can somehow trace the invoice and parts order for that laptop?
the reason i need that is that i remember buying 6GB RAM for that laptop but since it arrived with winxp pro downgrade i could only see 3GB available RAM. i have recently installed win7 and to my surprise i could only see 4GB RAM on my system.
any help will be much appreciated

WOW 3gigs of ram seen in your XP... My T500 in XP on sees 2g. Could be the difference between XP PRO and HomeEdition. You have Pro I do not.
And as lead_org says, systems did not come with 6gigs back then.

Lenovo G585 and the inbuilt Elan driver

Hello. I'm a proud owner of a Lenovo G585. Swiched from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. When i was downloading the drivers, at the Touch pad I saw that there is no driver for Elan, and use the inbuilt.
The problem is:
1. The inbuilt 8.1 Elan touchpad driver lacks gesture and multi touch finctionality (like side scroll, etc), and also no visible control panel.
2. No visible option to automaticaly disable the touchpad when external USB mouse is connected. This is a big issue, as most of the times I forget to manually disable the touchpad, and it reacts when I type).
These funtions work in both Win7 and Win8 drivers.
As the Windows 8 driver sometimes crashes on Windows 8.1, I would like to ask for an official Windows 8.1 driver (as Synaptics does have a driver).

Same here (Lenovo G580). Fell back to Windows 8 drivers untill notice from Lenovo.

IPhoto 08 and the missing Shutterfly button for exporting

Does any know what happened to the shutterfly button that was in iPhoto 06 for exporting, it seems to be gone in the 08 version???
Help my wife is giving me grief about upgrading to Leopard and iPhoto 08!!

If shutterfly has an export plugin for iPhoto '08 it typically would need to be installed from Shutterfly (it is not an Apple product) and then would appear as a tab in the file menu ==> export pager
