Lenovo Twist - keyboard

Hi everyone,
I bought a Lenovo twist in EEUU and it has the keyboard from there. I am from Argentina, so, I decided to change the keyboard configuration to the latin version ( this is caused because in Argentina we use the "ñ"). But there is a little problem, when i changed the configuration, the simbols "<" and  ">" were gone. Therefore i thought to use the key combination ALT + some number, but it doesn't work correctly in my Twist. I also tried to user Fn + Alt + some number, but it does't work either.
Does anyone know how to access to the special characters without use the Character map?
Thanks in advance!
regards.

Hi,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
It seems you've turned on the number pad on your keyboard. Press Fn+NmLk keys to toggle it off. And if that doesn't work, try Shift+ScrLk.
Hope this helps!
Best regards,
Mithun.

  • Lenovo Twist - Can't get WWAN Driver to Install

    Hey,
So, got my Lenovo Twist last weekend - absolutely love it, but **bleep**.. I'd love to be able to slap a SIM in here an go.
Problem is, the WWAN driver appears to be missing - Device Manager shows the WAN Miniport, but the driver doesn't work.
Here is what I've tried so far:
    - Allowing Windows to try to find an updated driver (nothing)
    - Downloaded and attempted to install this from the Lenovo Twist Support Drivers Page: Ericsson H5321gw/C5621gw Mobile Broadband Firmware for Windows 8 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad (this results in an error: Initialization error) - This seems to only be a firmware anyway
    - Tried this one.. which appears to be the driver for Ericsson H5321gw: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS029034 (Installs, but doesn't solve the driver issue.. even after reboot)
    - Tried a few other various drivers that people have suggested, but none seem to work.
    Any suggestions?
    Marc

Following up on an earlier post I opened up my Twist to see what is inside with respect to WWAN.  Easy to do; just two screws and slide out the keyboard.  I had not seen any WWAN references in the Device Manager.  Sure enough, the PCI Express slot the User Guide shows to be the location of the WWAN card has the 24GB SSD. Even though the SIM slot and socket is there and the red/blue antenna leads are there it does not appear both the WWAN and 24GB SSD can be installed at the same time.  The other PCI Express slot has the WIFI card.
I don't know enough about SSDs but maybe a SATA type SSD could take the place of the 500GB hard drive which could free the PCI Express slot for a WWAN?
My Twist is model S230u and the Lenovo System Update application says the "Machine type and model" is 33474HU.

  • Lenovo USB keyboard - Trackpoint/Touchpas not working

I am now experiencing the same problem in Win7 as I barely got away with in Vista.
    The problem is as follows:
    - I have the Lenovo USB keyboard with built in Trackpoint and Touchpad (wonderful).
    - When I installed this keyboard in Vista it worked out of the box, but in Windows Update I got a recommended update for newer/better drivers.
    - When I installed this driver, the Trackpoint and Touchpad stoppet working - so I had to restore my system and hide these updates in Windows Update.
    - So when I install Win7 RTM these drivers seems to install with the system, and therefore the Trackpoint and Touchpad on my external keyboerd does NOT work out of the box. I do not get any updates for this either.
    Tried solutions:
    - I have tried to install the keyboerd drivers.
    - The driver with Hotkeys installs alright, but does not solve the problem.
    - The regular keyboard driver will not install, because it says that I there is a newer Synaptics-driver which has to be removed first.
    - Well, there are no installed Synaptics-drivers to be removed - probably because these drivers are installed with the system.
    - I have also tried to diable the PS/2 driver etc. but nothing works.
--> So, I am actually stuck with my wonderful external Lenovo USB keyboard without being able to use the Trackpoint or Touchpad. The worst although is that I know whats making the problem, but do not know how to solve it...
Can anybode please help, I cannot believe I am the only one having this problem (in Vista or in Win7).
    Henrik
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have a USB Travel Keyboard with UltraNav. I am not sure if it is the same as yours. But I have used the following two drivers (for Vista) and the keyboard has been working fine under Vista. Recently I upgraded to Windows 7. The vista driver seems still working fine.

One issue I found is that I cannot run the setup.exe to get the keyboard driver installed, it will claim something like OS specific program not found. But if you go inside the folder to find dpinst.exe, run it and you are good to go.
And this link for all possible drivers.

  • RSI Issue: Need help on IBM/Lenovo external keyboards w Trackpoint? Pic

Need help on IBM/Lenovo external keyboards w Trackpoint? Pic
I started my journey with Thinkpads on a T42, then T43.. then T61, X61T, R61 & T410 (bought for 2 cousins & they love it), W510 (dads new laptop). I may be a much recent convert but I swear by them now.
MAJOR ISSUE: Recently started feeling RSI (Repetitive Stress) & Carpal Tunnel symptoms (already doing stretches.. adjusted the desk.. & finding new adjustable LCD stand) since I am not using the Thinkpad directly... but using it docked with an External keyboard. Lot of Mousing as well. I'd like to go back to Thinkpad FEEL... or atleast have keyboard with a pointing device so my hands dont have to keep moving back n forth.
So, it would be great it some of my fellow T4x/T6x/X6x 'ers would guide me a bit on this... share their first hand experience, or what they've seen on these keyboards and feel free to point me to reliable sources of information.
Currently this would greatly be use with T61 - Adv Mini Dock - 30" XHD3000 LCD as shown in my signature below.
Anyone who has used or know something about one of these Thinkpad related keyboard (ideally both of these to give a comparative response).
Which of the following have you used?
    How was the experience?
(Maybe point me to thread with peoples experiences)
If you've used several, which one do you prefer / recommend? Why?
At the moment I have a "slim" BTC 6200C desktop keyboard. It has laptop like scissor keyswitches, so I like it the slim notebook like profile.
The way I have positioned my 30" LCD I'd like to be able to keep the keyboard on my lap at times while on my chair and maybe on the desk at times.

I had the same issue - had to go to voice command for a few weeks (sucked) wore wrist gards to keep things netural.
Everything went away when I changed to a USB keyboard with the Ultra nav (I use the track point and disable the pad).
I've been working like that for 6+ years now... no issues.
(as a side note, sleeping with wrist guards on helped heal me the fastest.  I had neoprine, with a metal plate in them - from a local drug store)

  • Fingerprint reader on Lenovo KUF0452 keyboard not working with Lenovo X1

Hi, I have a Lenovo KUF0452 keyboard with built-in fingerprint reader. Up until two weeks ago I had a two year old X1 Carbon laptop which co-existed happily with the keyboard - I could unlock Windows with a swipe of the keyboard's fingerprint reader. I've now replaced the old X1 with a brand new X1 Carbon and can no longer unlock Windows using the keyboard's fingerprint reader - I just get this error on the Windows 8.1 lock screen: "A match for the fingerprint was not found in the fingerprint database." I have the latest Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro installed and have used it to enroll a couple of fingerprints for the X1's fingerprint scanner, but when I try to use it to enroll fingerprints for the keyboard's scanner the app's progress bar doesn't move off 0%, so I assume the app isn't accepting the keyboard's fingerprint scanner as a valid input. The X1 is docked, with the lid shut, so I have no easy access to the laptop's fingerprint scanner which is why I want to use the keyboard's fingerprint scanner to unlock Windows. How can I get the keyboard's fingerprint scanner to work with my X1? Kind regards,

    hi Avikiru,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    Can you try,
Remove the AC and the Battery
Hold the Power Button down for at least 15 sec.
Reconnect just the AC and see if that'll work
If not You can contact a Lenovo Support Team or a Local Technician to have the Keyboard connection checked.
    Regards

  • Lenovo Twist - How do you copy Win 8 Pro onto recovery partition?

I upgraded my Lenovo Twist (3347-4HU) from Win 8 to Win 8 Pro with Windows Media Center (WMC).  How do I copy the newly purchased operating system and WMC to my HDD recovery partition so that if I ever have to do a restore, it will restore Win 8 Pro with WMC and not the original copy of Win 8 that came on the computer?  My concern is if a recovery is done from the factory recovery partition, I will lose my upgrade that I purchased.

Another option would be to make a full-drive backup to an external HDD.  You can use the oddly named "Windows 7 File Recovery" feature to make the backup.
It's probably a good idea to do that on a regular basis.

  • Lenovo Twist recovery problem

    Hi everybody.
I've just got my new Lenovo Twist s230u with Win 8 installed. First thing I wanted to do was to install linux on it. Everything seemed working fine, I knew 'bout recovery partition, so I hoped to re-install Windows, if smth. bad occurs.
I formatted two partitions (unfortunately I don't remember neither their labels nor sizes). Linux worked properly and everything was fine. But soon I understood that my windows is still unregistered, so my warranty can be spoiled. I entered the recovery menu and pressed reset button. But the recovery tool said, that some useful partition is missing.
On linux I can see several partitions:
    LENOVO_RECOVERY
    WINRE_DRV
SSD partitions and my linux partitions.
So I'm sure I didn't format the recovery partition.
Please help me to recover my pc. Please say if there is a way to recover it from usb stick or smth. like that. And say a few words 'bout partitioning on Lenovo twist.
    Thanks a lot!

it could be because of you re-partitioned the volume. warranty may cover the issue if you have valid one ( international warranty - iws - )
try to burn default backup before ordering dvd sets.
you can order recovery discs. call lenovo support line.
check your warranty from the link below:

if it doesn't work, you can use this software to find your serial.

  • Default Partitions for lenovo Twist s230u

    Hello,
I have a Lenovo Twist (s230u) and need to do a system recovery. Unfortunately, neither the F11 option is working nor recovering from win 8 itself. I do not have a win8 disk (wasn't supply with the computer) !
The only option I guess is to get a win8 drive and do a clean install. Before I do this and reformat the drive, can someone tell me what to do with the different partition on the HDD and the SDD ? I see the disk is divided into multiple partitions... Even if I do a clean win 8 installation, what should I do about the 260 Mb, 1000Mb and 7 Gb partitions (EFI, recovery and recovery respectively) Are they necessary ?
What about the SSD ? Technically I guess since it is separated, it shouldn't affected.
    Thank you
    Cyril

    Hello and welcome,
Easiest - if your drive stays alive long enough - is to make a recovery flash drive and use that to restore to a new drive.
Methodology to create Recovery Media and reload a Lenovo system with Microsoft Windows 8 preload
If you have a MS Win 8 install DVD of the matching version you can just copy the contents to a FAT32-formatted flash drive and use that for a clean install.  The license is in BIOS and shoud be picked up.  (CAVEAT: I've done installs from flash, but not verified that the license is picked up.)
Note that the copy-to-flash install works for MS media but not for Lenovo recovery DVDs.
Worst case: use a USB DVD drive.  Worst, worst case: purchase recovery DVDs from Lenovo support _and_ use an external drive.

  • Fingerprint reader on Lenovo KUF0452 keyboard not working with Lenovo X240

    Hi,
I have a Lenovo KUF0452 keyboard with built-in fingerprint reader. Up until a month ago I had a Lenovo X220 laptop which co-existed happily with the keyboard - I could unlock Windows with a swipe of the keyboard's fingerprint reader.
I've now replaced the X220 with an X240 and can no longer unlock Windows using the keyboard's fingerprint reader - I just get this error on the Windows lock screen:
A match for the fingerprint was not found in the fingerprint database.
I have Lenovo Fingerprint Manager Pro v8.01.35(x64) installed and have used it to enroll a couple of fingerprints for the X240's fingerprint scanner, but when I try to use it to enroll fingerprints for the keyboard's scanner the app's progress bar doesn't move off 0%, so I assume the app isn't accepting the keyboard's fingerprint scanner as a valid input.
The X240 is docked, with the lid shut, so I have no easy access to the laptop's fingerprint scanner which is why I want to use the keyboard's fingerprint scanner to unlock Windows.
How can I get the keyboard's fingerprint scanner to work with my X240?

    hi jenniby,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I believe it is the Lenovo B570 you're saying,
    Try doing a power drain,
Remove AC adapter and Battery, then hold down the power button for at least 15 sec. this will drain off the power from the MOBO.
Reconnect everything and see if that works,
Also try using an external Keyboard to test out the Windows.
If that did not work I suggest Calling Lenovo Technical support for Hardware Concern.

  • HDD for lenovo Twist

Could you please recommand me some compatible HDD for Lenovo Twist? The hdd went dead. looking to 7200 RPM with 500 - 1000 GB capacity.
    Thank you very much.

    Hello,
Any 2.5" 7mm high HDD should work, which are a little less common than the 9.5mm high drives normally used in notebook computers, but becoming more common.  The S230u's FRU List gives the following part numbers and models:
    04W0570 - B500 Toshiba
    04W0576 - C320AF Seagate
    04W0582 - 7200RPM SATA 320GB 7.0mm AF 6Gb/s Toshiba AQUARIUS-C SLIM-320
    04W0583 - 7200RPM SATA 500GB 7.0mm AF 6Gb/s Toshiba AQUARIUS-C SLIM-500
    04W0592 - 5400RPM 500GB 7.0mm 6Gb/s WD MN500S-500
    04W3923 - 5400 JAGUAR-B7 500
    04W3926 - 5400 MN500S 500GB
    04W3927 - 7200 JAGUAR-C7 320
    04W3929 - 7200 JAGUAR-C7 500
You could also use a 2.5" 7mm high SSD as well, although if you do, you should not enable the iRST or ExpressCache caching with the mSATA SSD as it will actually slow things down.  You could still use the mSATA SSD as a small secondary drive for backups, etc.

  • Lenovo twist battery Wear

    Hello,
Just wanting to get a view on what everyones battery wear is like on there lenovo Twists. I have had mine for 10 months, and it has already depleted by 26% (According to batterybar). My full charge is now limited to 32,310 mWh. Is this normal for this type of laptop?
Note, I have lately been using the lenovo battery stretch functionality (the one where it limits the battery to 50%). Although I do use the laptop as a laptop mostly so the rest of the time I fully charge.
Seems like another 10 months and the battery will be useless, and since it has a nice small form factor, changing the battery isn't easy.
    Cheers

    Hello again,
@lead_org Sadly when going through cmd's powercfg/batteryreport it doesn't show the cycle count, as seen below (unless there is another way to access this information, if so please tell). Also thanks for the quick reply.
@nicknick70 yeah, I was very dissapointed when I first got the device and saw how pathetic the battery was (7 hours is laughable). Now battery quality....... I am in the market for a new tablet, probably wont be Lenovo based on this.

  • Lenovo Twist Lag Spike / Freeze

I recently got a lenovo twist and have noticed that as I use it on a day-to-day basis, the machine is guaranteed to freeze for at least 20 seconds during a use "session."
This can happen during any situation of computer use (gaming, word processing, browsing, watching movies, etc...). Has anyone else encountered this issue and is there an active fix?

I have looked at the error logs and I get these types of errors. This was after a freeze that lasted 3-5 minutes. Seems like some problems with the disk or something. The list of errors are actually a lot longer but the forums wont let me post them

  • Lenovo Twist Boot time

Hi I have Lenovo Twist with preinstalled 8.1 and it takes 10 min just to come to the windows screen. It seems stuck on Lenovo page that is loading something. Boot priority devices are:
    1. Windows boot manager
    2. HDD SSD
When I perform hardware scan all devices pass the tests. Is there any possibility to speed up? What is going on during that Lenovo screen? Can someone explain?

I have the same issue with my Lenovo Twist which I recently got about a week ago. Not sure what caused it and already pinpointing it to the most recent update. Any help would be appreciated!

  • New Lenovo Twist - Bloatware?

I have just purchased a Lenovo Twist and I was wondering what factory installed software is of value and which software would generally be considered bloatware and not necessary?
Some of the software that I am wondering about would be:
    Programs:
    Absolute Data Protect
    ThinkVantage Active Protection System
    Lenovo Solutions for Small Business
    Lenovo System Update
    Lenovo PC Experience
    Lenovo Solution Center
    Lenovo Tablet Service
    Lenovo User Guide
    Warrenty Information
    Intel ME FW Recovery Agent
    Intel Control Center
    Intel Management & Security Status
    Intel AppUp Center
    Intel SK for OpenCL
    Apps:
    Companion
    Reader
    Lenovo Support
    Lenovo Settings
LenovoToast (THIS ONE DOESNT APPEAR TO DO ANYTHNG?)
    Skitch
    Evernote
    Nitro Pro 8
    SugarSync
    Any guidance would be appreciated

    Hello,
Try wiping the internal hard disk drive or SSD, and then using the recovery media to restore to the now-empty drive.  Does that make any difference?
