Lenovo U510 screen problem

I bought a lenovo U510 ideapad 4 months ago at BestBuy in Canada. It recently started to showing a screen split into 4 sections everytime after installing windows updates. The only way I'm able to get rid of the 4 sections is by refreshing the laptop and taking a risk of loosing all my files. Also when projected to a larger screen, it doesn't show the 4 sections. I'm confused about whether the problem is with the hardware or with the software!
Please help me, what could be the problem????
#worried!

  • Lenovo G780 Screen Problems

    Hi,
Yesterday, my laptop screen couldn't come back from screensaver mode. I rebooted my laptop and I couldn't see anything on the screen.
However I put a hdmi cable from a display monitor to my laptop and it worked perfectly.
I suspect the problem is related to the monitor of the laptop since the laptop is able to work properly.
I brought my laptop only a few months earlier, in September 2013. And since I still have my receipt, I think I still have my warrenty.
    What should I do now?
    Thank you for your help

    hi yuchiras,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
    Try doing a power drain,
Remove the Battery and AC adapter then hold down the Power button for 10 to 15 sec to drain it. -
Reconnect the AC alone and try -
Reconnect the Battery alone then try -
If the same Issue occured, I suggest you call support for Warranty Assistance.
This kind of issue, as long as there is no physical damage it will be covered.

  • Lenovo u350 Screen problems

    Hi all
I have had this laptop for six months and I love it - It's light weight and high style.
However the screen went green and stopped working.  When you switched it on it turns green and loads up Windows Vista but as soon as it's loaded it goes to a completely black screen and won't show anything at all.  However if I plug in an external monitor it works fine!
    Any ideas?

Warranty service is needed, this sounds like a internal graphics adapter problem.

  • Lenovo T400 screen goes dark issue, some video driver problem

    Lenovo:
    Motherboard:
    CPU Type: Mobile DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo P8600, 2400 MHz (9 x 267)
    Motherboard Chipset:  Intel Cantiga GM45
System Memory: 1992 MB (DDR3 SDRAM)
    BIOS Type: Phoenix (08/19/08)
    Display:
Video Adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
Video Adapter: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family
3D Accelerator: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
    Problem/Issue:
Driver problem appeard after upgrading from XP to Windows 7.
From the Device Manager I saw that ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 was not working properly and
    a) I did the "update driver software." After restart the screen light was darker than usual. (This was usual if I was working from battery but I was plugged in this time. )
As I'm not the best with computers I thought my drivers might be in conflict and to prevent serious damages, I just
    b) disabled ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 from device manager.
This actually resolved the dark screen problem.
    c) then I went to Lenovo support site: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-72858
downloaded newest drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 (Switchable Graphics Driver)
and Intel 4500MHD (Intel GM45 Express Chip)
For some reason while installine the: Intel GM45 Display Driver (version 8.15.10.2302) gives me error:
"This Computer Does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
Also some problem appeard when installing the new downloaded version:
ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver  (version 8.792.5-110424b-119200C)
    d) so I went back to device manager and made an update to ATI Mobility Radeon  from there.
Well, I got it working, but the screen went dark again. When I disable the driver it goes back to normal
brightness and when I enable it again, it stays normal.
I'll try to restart and see what happens

We had the excat same issue.
I could get the picuture back pressing the power button until it went to sleep and then wake it up again.
After the I went to device manager to delete all display drivers both Intel and ATI and then reboot.
doing the reboot windows found some drivers it could use.
I then installed the switchable driver from lenovo.
Now windows device manger report two display drivers:
    1)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series, Version 8.792.5.2000, Driver manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
    2)
Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family, Version, Version 8.792.5.2000, Driver manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc
So it seams the switchable ATI driver take over the Intel card and the Intel driver is not needed.
At least the problem is solved for us.
    Regards Anders

  • Lenovo Y50-70 screen problem

Hello. Recently, i have bought the Lenovo Y50-70 laptop and it seems that there is some screen problem. I have a feeling that it does flicker sometimes (1-2 per hour, sometimes more). Firstly, I thought that the backlight changes for a second, but then, after more observation, it might be it turning off and on immediately, or the colours fade and return to normal. I can't say for sure, what it is, because it happens very quickly, but the eye catches it anyway and it is kind of annyoing. Moreover, once the screen went completely crazy, it started to turn off and on every 2-3 seconds, big portions of view weren't even displayed, and what wasn't displayed changed every time it turned off and on. There were also green and red dots moving all over, mouse was moving in slowmotion (like I were playing a game in 15 fps). Only the restart helped and it stopped. So the question is, what is wrong and what am I supposed to do? Sorry, if the english is bad, but it isn't my native language.

I live in South Africa. Bought the notebook on 14 July 2015, within 2 weeks I started experiencing the screen flickering and grey lines. I was told by Lenovo to roll back drivers, then update drivers etc. - nothing worked. I returned the laptop to the supplier who in turn sent it to Lenovo. Lenovo has offered to replace the unit. I am hesitant to accept another unit and am thinking of rather getting a refund so that I can buy an Acer Aspire V Nitro (same specs). My previous laptop was an Acer and did not give me a day's trouble. Don't bother trying to update drivers or open the screen to plug it into the motherboard etc. I think the issue is a power supply one and that Lenovo should do a recall of this product. I am just thankful that South Africa has consumer law which forces a supplier to replace, repair or refund a defective product within 6 months from purchase if the consumer wants - so they can't simply repair, if I want a refund, they must give me one. Good luck! PS: This was my first and last Lenovo product!

  • Lenovo Flex 2-14 Touch screen problem

Hi, I have a Lenovo Flex 2-14, and I turn on the notebook but I found that the touch screen is not working, I restart the notebook but it doesn`t works. Is there any key or swith to turn on/off the touch screen? or what can I do to solve this problem?

    Hi Hoov,
I've ruled out Windows being the problem as the same yellow tint appears in the corners when booting the laptop (the black lenovo loading screen displays the same yellow tint)
I am beginning to think that maybe I've just been given two faulty Laptops. I would imagine that if it was a fault with all models of my type then there would be some information out there.
I might take it back to the store again tomorrow and try 1 more, I'll also ask if they have any advice.
I'll update the post tomorrow but in the meantime I am open to any suggestions as I don't really want to opt for another Laptop as this one is perfect (apart from the annoying Yellow in corners )

  • Lenovo G400 blinking screen problem

    Hello Lenovo community,
I just purchased a brand new G400 a couple of months ago, 64bit running on windows 8. i have dutifully updated it to every new windows 8 version (i am unsure how many they actually are), i have encountered and fixed thru lenovo updates some graphics issues with the AMD and all.
I have installed a couple games a few days after i bought the laptop (NBA 2k13, L4D 1 and 2, COD MW2) and have not had problems with it until recently when i decided to patch a FIBA World Cup outlay on my 2K13. i got the files from here http://www.nba2k.org/2013/09/FIBA-2K13-v1.3-Mod-Update.html
since then, ive had this blinking problem wherein whenever i pressed a key and then press the "s" key right after in quick succession, my screen would blink. it would happen while i play and crash the game. it would also happen while i type stuff both online and offline. its usually the keys in the vicinity of the "s" and then the "s" then bam, it would blink.
would you guys know what the problem could be? and any tips on how to remedy this? thank you!
    Pilipinas all day

    hi Tanimal15,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Just to verify, when you boot in Safe Mode, are you able to recreate the blinking screen problem?
It may look like a coincidence but I don't think that the FIBA World Cup outlay caused the sudden blinking screen. Booting in Safe Mode will also isolate any apps/services that are running in the background that's possibly causing the issue.
If the unit works fine in Safe Mode, perform a clean boot and observe the machine in normal mode.
Let me know how it goes.
    Regards

  • How to resolve a Lenovo PC that will not pass the Lenovo Splash screen with no access to Windows

Here is my problem and here is the solution!!!
My B540 Ideacentre would not pass the Lenovo splash screen. The only operational keys I had was F1 (BIOS) and F12 (BIOS options). F2 went to a light blue screen so no chance of even a one key recovery. Warrenty had expired four and a half months ago. I contacted Lenovo and after the guy told me to try F2 twice he said it was a HDD or other hardware failure and would cost around £200 maybe and also would take about two weeks.
AT THIS POINT YOU SHOULD NOT BE ANGRY FRUSTRATED OR PANIC. REMAIN CALM AND STOP AND THINK WHAT ACTUALLY WAS HAPPENING WHEN YOU LAST USED YOUR PC.
For me I remembered Windows had auto downloaded 8.1 and was asking me to install. Also my keyboard had lost shift W T Y keys. This told me that it was not a hardware issue but a software issue and perhaps from this update. My HDD was not clicking or beeping and this PC has a 2TB Seagate Barracuda which has a good reputation. Luckly for me I also have a Seagate external expansion 2TB and a 500MB expansion which was the HDD from my old HP Touchsmart which I converted into an external hard drive by buying a HDD enclosure with cooling fan and all leads from eBay for £25 and this is where the solution is.
If you can create an expansion drive so easily and access the HDD then why cant I do it with the HDD from my Ideacentre and of course you can. So first unplug your PC or laptop. Next remove the cover and unclip the HDD (which is easy with the B540. See user instructions). Next I removed my HP HDD from the enclosure and fitted my Ideacentre HDD in its place. Next you need a laptop or another PC. Switch it on and then connect your HDD to the laptop or PC via highspeed USB cable. My laptop is running Windows 7 Ultimate and of course has all the repair tools required. When the software has loaded you may get a box that will have two options. The first will ask you if you want to repair your files and the second to scan for bad sectors and to attempt repair recovery of sectors. Tick both boxes and click start. This is a long slow process but worth the wait. Nine hours later my HDD was ready. I connected my Seagate expansion to my laptop and moved all new files that I had not backed up. So at this point you should create a folder and move all your photos music videos documents etc to it. This can take upto three hours if you have never backed up before and are moving everything. Once completed I shut everything down and replaced the HDD into my Ideacentre. Make sure do not have any external devices connected such as expansions external drives headphones etc. Connect the power and switch on. The Ideacentre booted up and there was a pause at the splash screen then it went to a black screen and then by the miracle of logical thinking I was at my lock screen. I was never so glad to see the map of my home land "Ukraine". After jumping up and down with joy I then went in and all was as normal but to be sure I went into safemode and started a complete restore. This is the option where you completely format your HDD and restore as new. It takes a long time but it is the best option because you do not want this to happen again. When this has completed and you are in Windows do not wait a moment longer by playing with your photos or creating your desktop picture. Go to create a recovery drive (use a 32GB stick) and after that also make a copy to disc. Next go to command prompt (cmd) Admin and change a setting by typing bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy. This will now enable your F8 key to boot straight into safemode just incase you need to in the future. It will slow boot time a little but better to be able to get in to Windows than not at all for the sake of a few seconds.
Well I hope this helps someone out there and I know you may think its a lot to do but it is not. Ask a friend to borrow a laptop or PC and perhaps a HDD encloser. The rest is just time but when you see your lock screen you will not care trust me.
    Cлава Україні!!! Героям слава!!!

I thought this was the method I used before but I followed through it and it was a horrific fail.  "Operating system not found".  Can anyone help?

    Steps To Achieve Victory
Download the ISO you want to use
    Open Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities)
Convert .iso to .img using hdiutil:
    hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o /path/to/target.img /path/to/source.iso
Rename if OS X gave it a .dmg ending:
    mv /path/to/target.img.dmg path/to/target.img
Type diskutil to get a list of currently connected devices
Insert USB drive you want to use
Run diskutil again to see what your USB stick gets assigned eg - /dev/disk3
Run diskutil unmountDisk /dev/diskN (where N is the number assigned to your USB stick, in previous example it would be 3)
Run sudo dd if=/path/to/target.img of=/dev/diskN bs=1m (if you get an error, replace bs=1m with bs=1M
Run diskutil eject /dev/diskN and remove your USB stick
The USB stick will now be ready to use

  • L412 BLACK SCREEN PROBLEM

There was a power otuage and my laptop went black after the power outage. The battery was not inside the laptop when the power outage occured. When the power outage ended, I powered back on my laptop but it won't been nor will it boot onto the Lenovo Boot Screen where it will say Thinkvantage.
Furthermore, it won't boot onto windows. It just sits there when I power it on with only the wireless adapter on. . What's the problem?
I already removed the power plug, unplugged and replugged the battery, held the power button for 30 seconds, pressed it 10 times, and removed HD and memory. Still doesn't work. What's the problem?

As I understand the issue there is no display when you power on the laptop.
The issue can be with the system board , you should contact the service center for the repair.
    Best Regards,
    Tanuj

  • Lenovo U510 Broadcom Wi-Fi adapter low speed!

    Hello,
I have recently purchased a Lenovo u510 with i3 processor and hd4000 video card. I have installed windows 7 on it and I have issues with the wi-fi card. I have used the drivers from the Lenovo support website, and the speed barelly exceeds 3mb/s. Usually is 2,5 and much lower lower. I have a HP probook put in the same place and it has a speed 4 times bigger.
I have tried also windows 8 and it has the same problems.
I am very sattisfied with this laptop, but this wifi issue drives me crazy.
I really need help, seems like the problem is with the wifi adapter, Broadcom. An Intel centrino one it would be better.

    Hello,
Should I consider that this is the max speed of this laptop? I have put the U510 and HP probook from work near the wireless router.
The the maxspeed for lenovo was 4,5 mbps and the max speed for HP was 10 mbps(because thats the max from my provider).
Why that big differece between a Broadcomm wifi adapter and a intel centrino one?
Does the aluminium case have problems?

  • LENOVO Y2P stuck at Lenovo Splash Screen

I partitioned my SSD into two parts trying to install another OS to the newly unallocated partition. Rebooted into boot menu, but couldn't find my USB drive in the menu. Anyways I said nevermind it's okay and decided to boot normally. It booted without any problem and then for whatever reason I shut down the pc. Turn it back on a little later, now it's stuck at the LENOVO splash screen, won't boot no matter what I do

Do you have a Windows 8 or 7 recovery media? If so, boot to that, enter advance options and do a system restore or boot fix (boot fix is your last option if using a Windows 7 recovery img). This might fix the boot but, the okr system is broken for good unless you purchase recovery disks.

  • X230 Screen problem

    Hi,
I just recieved my second x230 laptop and having problems with the screen. The screen is constantly shimmering and it 's much more obvious when the background is set to dark grey. This is the replacement that I just recieved and It still has the same problem. On the first one the trackpad was loose and had the screen flickering problem so I asked for a replacement and this one the same screen problem and also the battery does not fit in properly even when I lock both sides there is still a big gap on one side and it's quite loose. I m totally disappointed with the Lenovo quality control. but also tired of sending them back and forth as I believe the next one will probably have some other problems. What I already tried:
    1- BIOS updated
2- All the video drivers updated
    3-Increased the ram to 16GB
None of them solved tthe issue. By the way this is an IPS display.
I would appreciate any response  if someone had the same problem and managed to solve it somehow.
    Thanks,
    Ale
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Does it change with increasing brightness ? You might be sensitive to slow pulse modulation used to control brightness of the LED backlight.
As for the flickering with some pattern I can see it as well on my X220. Even my NEC 2090 UXi professional monitor has the issue when turned on but it slowly disapears in few hours. The reason is fully explained here http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/inversion.php and there is probably no solution for that in notebook display segment. It is unlikely that you got two boxes with the issue that will be just a bad luck but there might be a batch of displays that exhibits the issue more than others.
Another reason might be FRC used to simulate 8 bit colors resolution per channel. The X220/X230 display is very likely e-IPS technology that is limited to 6 bit only. The particular FRC implementation might also exhibit annoying flicker effects for some color combinations.
Sorry, I don't have any good advice. Buying a LCD monitor is always a nightmare for me because there are too many possible issues that would annoy me. On the other hand, X230 is currently the only Lenovo notebook that have a decent display. Other models have TN craps only.

  • Ideacentre b310 touch screen problem

I have a lenovo b310 and I have a problem with the touch screen. touch screen notworking, when I touch the screen there is no response at all.  a few weeks ago, because a lot of fingerprints, I've been cleaning my lenovo's screen with a damp cloth. what is the effect? is it because I cleaned it so the touch screen is not working?
what I have to do to resolve that problem? Can anyone help me,please?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi chocomolco,
it is a high posibility that the damp cloth might be the cause of the touchscreen not working.
The only thing i can suggest is for you to bring it to an authorized service center

  • [LENOVE G460] Stuck at Lenovo Logo Screen when a Boot-able USB plugged in

    The subject says it all.
I was thinking of doing a Live Install of a Linux Distribution using a Bootable USB.
So I plugged the Boot-able USB and then Power the Laptopn ON and then press F2 to enter the BIOS SETUP
But even after a few minutes the screen doesn't even budge from the Lenovo Logo... It just says "Entering Setup..."
First I thought something was wrong with my Boot-able USB so I checked it by using another laptop and TADA!!!! I managed to enter the bios setup screen, change the boot order and then start the Linux Installation without any problem.
And then I decided to do it again on the Lenovo G460 and then... The same Stuck at The Lenovo Logo Screen happened again.
Could Anyone shed some light on this problem?
    Thanks XD

    Hi Warnbroom,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with system stuck at Lenovo logo in your Lenovo H500s laptop.
Try to remove the hard drive(HDD) and check for the issue if the system is able to boot to BIOS.
Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!
