Lenovo U530 Touchscreen Replacement

I have a Lenovo U530 Touch with a cracked touchscreen. I have looked all over for a cheap replacement screen or even a tutorial on how to remove the display and install a new screen. If not, could I mail it back to the depot in the US and get it fixed or get a new one?
Thanks
Nathan

As for parts, eBay can be a good source for new or used parts.  There are also sellers that offer new screens with warranty, but you would have to check to see if they will ship to you.  Here is one such company that is frequently recommended........

  • Issues with Lenovo U530, unable to create a virtual machine

Hi, I have a Lenovo u530 ideapad, bought around October, running windows 8.1
I have the Oracle virtual box, installed, however when I tried to power it on, it claimed kernel issues.
I did enable virtualization in the BIOS.
    Please help, extremely frustrated here.

    Hi,
This issue may be caused by the network configuration of the client is incorrect. This includes the absence of addresses or incorrect addresses for DNS servers to locate and resolve domain controllers.
When you add the server 2 to domain, the DNS shoud be pointed to the domain controller.
Please check the DNS configuration is correct.

  • Lenovo ThinkPad W530 replacement keyboard

    Hi,
I am looking to buy a replacement keyboard for my Lenovo ThinkPad W530 notebook.
I'm looking for a US English keyboard.
Can anyone recommend an online retailer? I am having trouble with the Lenovo website itself.
    Thankyou,
    Steven.

    Hey there burrows,
As an option, you can always contact the technical support line and request a parts only order, and order the keyboard directly. To contact the support center you'll need to call 0800-5004618. Make sure you have your serial number, machine type and model number handy when you call. I hope this helps!

  • Lenovo B560 motherboard replacement

    Hi,
My dear laptop died on me about a month ago. It wouldn't do anything when pressing the power button and the power led would not light when connected to power. Tried with or without the battery, no led, no power. I checked with another cable and I checked my cable on another laptop and it worked so the issue has nothing to do with the power cable.
I took the laptop to my universities repair shop for a diagnosis and they said the Motherboard is dead.
Any suggestion where I could find a brand new motherboard replacement in the UK?
    Thanks,
    sorband

  • Ubuntu 14.04 install on Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 replacing Windows 8.1

I just purchased a Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 and would like to replace Windows 8.1 with Ubuntu 14.04. As this is a secure boot machine, is there anything I need to watch out for besides disabling secure boot? I seem to remember that there is a boot partition that I need to leave alone (?) Is there a Lenovo tool installed that can save a copy of the drive as an image? I have already saved a copy of the system to a USB stick. There seem to be some issues in connection with installing Ubuntu 14.04 (booting, wifi, bluetooth) is there an overview of the install issues for the Q190 somewhere?
    Any advice appreciated.

If you are looking to entirely replace Windows on your drive, you can overwrite the entire drive, boot partition and all...
    BUT...
Since you seem to want to preserve your Windows installation, you can make your life a lot easier in the long-run by simply getting another hard disk drive and swapping it out for the one which you currently have installed. (If I understand correctly, the Q190 only supports one HDD at a time)
Then you can install Ubuntu on the empty drive and not have to worry about writing a massive .iso,
testing a massive .iso and at some point in the future trying to re-install a massive .iso.
Here's a link to the user manual:
    http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/desktop_pub/lenovo_ic_q190_ug_v1.0_win8_en_r_online_20130320.pdf
On page 31 it explains the BIOS options. Doing a UEFI Linux install is still quite unintuitive, though there are a few threads and video tutorials out there. If you're planning on using Linux, right now I would suggest good old legacy style.
An overview of Ubuntu install issues is a pretty tall order for any machine. External wifi and bluetooth dongles are generally a problem, though the problems are often remedied after finishing all of the recommended updates.
I could add more advice, but it will help if I know more about what you want from your machine.

  • Lenovo ThinkPad X131e Replacement Hard Disk Drive Specifications

I have recently been given a Lenovo ThinkPad X131e 3368-2GU. I notice that the internal 320GB 2.5" SATA Seagate Momentus Thin HDD is a slim height 7mm model. I would like to upgrade internal storage to 1TB or more. Do I have to replace this HDD with another 7mm model or will any 2.5" SATA HDD work? Any other replacement HDD requirements of which I should be aware?
    Thanks for any assistance!

  • Lenovo U400 Battery Replacement Warning

    Hello again,
I'm using a brand new Lenovo U400 which I got almost like a week ago. After several days of using it, upon starting, Lenovo Energy Management started saying "The full capacity of the battery you are using is only about the 40% that of a new one. We recommend you to replace the old battery with a new one..."
What does it mean? I have only used this laptop for like 5 hours less...

    Hi Yigit,
Sorry to bother you, but I just requested an RMA from the reseller. Would you suggest any tips on how to clean install Lenovo U400? The problem is. I did some upgrade from my laptop just the harddrive though. Upon clean installing win 7 pro and the drivers on the new hard drive that Lenovo battery replacement sign pops out everytime I start the pc on battery mode. When I put back the old drive, the drive with preinstalled win 7 Home and drivers the battery replacement warning didnt pop at all even running on battery. Anyways, I wasted too much time on this so I just requested an RMA since it's still on its return period. But yeah do you think there is something wrong with program Lenovo Energy management that is? or is there like a special way on how the drivers should be installed first and what not upon using a new hard drive? Thanks again!

  • Lenovo G550 Motherboard replacement

    Hello
The motherboard on my G550 malfunctioned and while I was looking for a new one on the internet I noticed that some versions of the same laptop come with a different graphics card. My laptop has a integrated Intel Mobile 45 Family Chipset, but some versions come with a NVIDIA GeForce G210M. So I was wondering if I can replace my old motherboard with the one that has NVIDIA GeForce G210M or do I have to get the same one as my old motherobard?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Help requested from Lenovo Admins- W530 replacement pain

    Dear Lenovo admins,
I have the same issue as several posts here where only DIMM slot 1 and 3 work and anything in 2 and 4 does not POST.  Also I have couple of dead pixels.  I called tech support first on 1-Oct and they gave me a Case number telling me to call CS and ask for a Type 3 request.  I called on 1-Oct and after a hour wait got a CS person who told me that my request was forwarded to the Concerns/Billing Department and to wait while he transferred me to them.  After an additional 3 hours of waiting I used another phone to call CS who told me to hang up the other phone since Concerns would call me back in 3-5 days.  All along I was asking if they would call me to figure out the next steps and to send me a box for the return since I had gotton rid of my origianl box.  I was told multiple times the Concerns/Billing would take care of sending a return box with label.  When I didn't hear back after three days, I checked again with CS who told me that they would call.  On day 5 I called again and the CS person said give it until Monday 8-Oct.  When I didn't hear anything yesterday, I call at the end of the day and was told the return is being worked on and I would get a call no later than today.  I also confirmed that they would send me a box for the return.  Today I called and I'm still not sure where things are since I got the same story of return is being worked on and now someone will call me or email me.  This time however was told that they would not send me a box and I would have to contact Tech support since Tech support does not deal with Lenovo CS.
This experience is not acceptable to me.  It should be a simple matter of getting a call with the next steps, ie box sent for return with label and an eta of the new delievery.  I have at least 10 other Thinkpads/Lenovos and this is the first time I am dealing with really annoying and not impowered CS.  I would really appreciate a note from the admins on who I need to actally contact to get things done.  What I would like is...
    1. Speak to someone who has authority
    2. Have a return box and label shipped to me
    3. Recieve an ETA of the replacement.
I don't think I am asking too much here.
    Thanks.
    Paul

The W530 doesn't use a tray like the older thinkpads did. I only use the rubber rails.  Make sure that you use the right rails, there are 2 sizes, one fot 9.5 mm and one ofr 7 mm drives. I have two W530's and the rails work fine in both, they hold the drive firmly and I've never had a drive lossen up.

  • Lenovo Yoga13 Touchscreen doesn't work

Hello, my name is Ignacio and I bought a Yoga Pad 13 in May. After using it a month, the touchscreen function of the notebook stopped working. There are times that the screen will not stop "touching" (marks appear as if I were playing repeatedly) and soon stops. The notebook using it as a single notebook works perfect, but the truth is I'm taking 50% of what it offers, without the touchscreen function.
I have an issue with the warranty too. I bought the machine in May on a trip I took to New York and this occurred to me in my country (Argentina). I contacted the support due me for my country but I said no international warranty.
Is there a way to do something? If the theme is "serious", I can or would have to send the notebook to USA?
Through this message I can put the serial number of my machine or by private message?
If you could help me would be very grateful. Not having a support in my country is problematic and I do not know what to do.
Sorry for my English ... greetings.

as already advised in the Spanish forum, you need to contact support in the US.  The forums are not a direct support channel.

  • Lenovo t420 screen replacement issues

    Hey,
My screen cracked a couple weeks ago and i decided to order this screen from amazon:
    http://www.amazon.com/LENOVO-THINKPAD-LAPTOP-SUBSTITUTE-REPLACEMENT/dp/B004VUO2N6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8...
I followed a video online with directions on how to replace the screen. Im sure I installed it right but when I turned the laptop on only the backlight lit and nothing else. Ive heard that It may be a problem with the screen cable but im not too sure. Any help on how I would fix this would be appreciated.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

There are 3 parts involved (motherboard, screen, cable) and there is not much you can be sure of without some replacement parts to try. I will say that USUALLY, if screen damage causes motherboard damage, the motherboard fuse blows. Since your backlight comes on, it is not the fuse. I have found that if the backlight comes on, in most cases, the cable isn't plugged in straight, either on the motherboard connector or, more likely, behind the panel. If you don't attach the connector to the panel with new tape, it can pull out from one side or the other. Also, the cable connector behind the panel is fragile and easy to damage. Finally, your new panel might be defective. Cable not plugged in right or damaged is probably most likely.
