Lenovo W510 scroll lock stuck - no scroll lock key

I know this has been brought up before, but I cannot remove the scroll lock from Excel as there is no scroll lock button.  I have tried Fn+C, Fn+delete to no avail.  It must be there somewhere??
Help wanted please.

Hi, Anton8
I did some research and found this document from Microsoft that may help. If Scroll Lock is turned on, but there is no Scroll Lock on your keyboard, then you may want to try using the On-Screen Keyboard and see if it is enabled there, There is also a setting on the status bar that should allow you to disable it.
Hope it helps,
Adam

    i accidentally functioned scroll lock key. I couldn't disable it. I don't have a F14 key.

Press Fn + C. This is the key combination for Scroll Lock.
I found this out by mistake when trying to press CTRL+C, as I have Fn and Ctrl reversed and sometimes forget that if I look down at the keyboard.

  • I have a new wireless keyboard but it doesn't have the "Scroll Lock" key I need to work my printer.Any ideas please. I'm new it iMac.

I have new iMac with a wireless keyboard. It doesn't have a "Scroll lock`' key (hot key) which I need to work a shared printer controlled by a manual share switch. does anyone have any suggestions to help please?

There is a key combination that operates the scroll lock function on your keyboard, try it and see if it works:
The reason that the manual switch is mapped to the scroll lock is because it is a rarely used (sometimes never used) function, unfortunately that is exactly why it is vanishing, gone on some keyboards already.Consult the documentation for the switch, see if the function controlled currently by the scroll lock key can be remapped to another key.

  • Scroll Lock key

Hi I need to be able to turn on and off at my leisure the SCROLL LOCK KEY.
How is it possible that I can not activate this key even with the virtual keyboards ?
there must be the possibility to map this key to another key on the keyboard. I need to use this key SCROLL LOCK to work with excel and beyond.
Plus if you buy a keyboard ( not apple ) that uses that key for some functions, such functions can I use this ?
seems absurd to me that there is a possibility via the terminal, via dedicated app or other way to be able to map this key on the keyboard of the Mac. in particular find it ridiculous that this problem is present only on Mac OS X. I have a MacBookPro 15 "early 2011 with OS vers , 10.7.5

It has been years, but wasn't Scroll Lock just a toggle for Control-S / Control-Q to tell the serial port device driver to pause and continue sending data to the terminal?
I haven't actually used serial port flow control since the last time I used a dial-up modem into work BEFORE everything was done over the internet.
Or is this some Windows retasking of the original Scroll Lock found on real physical terminals?
If I may ask, what are you doing with Scroll Lock?
Karabiner has some remappings that mention Scroll Lock.  Maybe they are something you are looking for.

  • Reading the scroll lock key

How could I make LabVIEW read the status of the scroll lock key (on or off)?

Using an event structure will only tell you if you pressed the scroll lock key, it will not tell you the current state of the scroll lock LED on your keyboard. For that you need to call user32.dll. The function is: unsigned char GetKeyState(long nVirtKey). I use this to get the state of the caps lock key, for which I pass this function 20. I'm not sure what the value of scroll lock is.
I've attached my caps lock key VI so you can see how to do it.
    Edit: beaten to the punch.

  • Missing Scroll Lock key on DV7-4045ea

I can't find the Scroll Lock key on the 4045ea and need it. Is there one? I can't understand why there wouldn't be.

Yes, I noticed this as well. The workaround I have is, go to Windows and search for "On Screen". You will get to the On Screen Keyboard where you can toggle the Scroll Lock.

  • Scroll Lock key missing on a W540

Well, we do have many things missing on this Workstation (see other comments), but here is the latest discovery.
All last week I needed to do some cross referencing of Excel worksheets and Access databases.  I use "Synkronizer", and excellent Excel comparator who's author fears piracy and links the application to the machine and checks EVERY USE!.  So I'm not at liberty to move the application easily.
When needed I export an Access table to Excel, and compare, merge, etc, then reimport into Access or work in Excel....  Long story. BUT the issue.  ^K (Ctrl-K)  which is the cryptic Scrl-Lock key on this so called workstation with 4 dumb wasted keys in the upper right hand, does not work within two Excel sheets.
The work around is within Excel, using [Syncronized Scrolling], and [View Side by Side]. BUT now it forces an horizontal scroll, when a vertical would be desireable. What a pain!
After I got back, I tested the same thing on my desktop, WITH A REAL SCROLL LOCK KEY, and it worked correctly.
If there was a REAL scroll-Lock key on the W540, this would not be an issue.
    What is the point?
The W540 is NOT a Workstation. If you do not program, work in Excel or Access, then this is a moot point.  The W540 is a dumb terminal for cloud applications, surfing, eMail, watching YouTubes and videos.
For this one, there is really NO workaround.
Am I wrong?  Has someone tested the multiple windows scrolling on Excel, and locked from the keyboard two sheets?  I also discovered a similar issue when comparing two ASCII files in my editor.

Yes, I noticed this as well. The workaround I have is, go to Windows and search for "On Screen". You will get to the On Screen Keyboard where you can toggle the Scroll Lock.

  • Scroll Lock key not found on my keyboard

I have this HP keyboard with my pc. Unfortanetly, a program i am running requires i need a scroll lock key, and there is none that i can find on the pc. Can you tell me where it is located on the keyboard for my desktop pc? Thanks in advanced!

The three keys on the right have speakers on them. The left one has a speaker with a crossed out sign, the middle one shows a speaker with the - next to it, the right one shows a speaker with a + next to it. So is the the speaker with the minus sign on the scroll lock key?
Actually there are 4 keys on the right..three with speakers and the sleep button (it shows a moon underlined). I think the moon underlined key is for sleep mode on the pc.
Here is the layout of the right of my pc's keyboard, from the left key above the home key:
    {INSERT} {PAUSE/BREAK} {SPEAKER CROSSED OUT} {SPEAKER WITH MINUS SIGN} {SPEAKER WITH PLUS SIGN} {MOON UNDERLINED}

  • Caps lock key gets stuck on

We are using Sun Ray Software 5.2.1 and connecting to Citrix XenApp 6.5 servers running on windows server 2008R2. We have an issue where randomly the caps lock key is stuck On, and its not just the light, the actually caps lock is stuck and you can only type capital letters. The only solution we have found is to log off and then log back in for a new session and everything is good again. This doesn't work however if the users desktop is locked from the screensaver timeout, because then they can't type in their password correctly to log off the session. The only solution is for me to manually log them off within the Citrix XenApp console.
    Any ideas?

Which citrix client are you using? Have you tried killing the sun ray session with CTRL+ALT+Backspace? The Session should restart after that and it would not involve administrative intervention.
You could also try and disable caps lock with xmodmap if you don't need it.
    Just some ideas

  • Caps Lock Key Stuck on Compaq Presario CQ57

    Hey,
Today when i powered my Compaq Presario CQ57 up the CAPS LOCK key could not be turned off.  The CAPS LOCK indicator light remains on.  The computer boots and performs normally with the exception of this one big issue.
Any advice or assIstance would be much appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Discussions Maria - the only thing I can think of is to turn the keyboard upside down and rap it on the table. This might unstick the key... maybe....

  • Problem that starts with *apparent* sticking caps lock key

I have a mid-2009 MacBook Pro (two weeks outside of AppleCare, of course!).  Last night, it appeared the caps lock key was sticking. It would type in all caps even when I hit the button and the green indicator light went off. Moments later, I noticed that the option that shows you all the windows on the same screen was suddenly going very, very slow. I tried to restart but it started in safe mode - twice. It finally started correctly on the third or fourth reboot. I hoped it was a fluke.
Unfortunately it's happening again and rebooting doesn't seem to fix it - I can't put in my password to login because it thinks I'm typing in all caps.
    Any ideas, please?  Thanks.

This may enter the Apple Hall of Fame for stupid posts.  I spent a couple hours last night restarting the computer, trying restore etc....and really doing anything I could from clinton's link in order to identify the problem.  I'd even called our local store to let them know I would be there first thing in the morning (I'm boarding a plane in a few minutes and really needed my laptop for this trip).
So after doing all of those things + removing the caps lock key to see if it was somehow manually stuck, I go the store this morning.  Virtual panic.  I needed a presentation off the laptop for a workshop tomorrow and I hadn't backed up since I created it...
I enter the store, I begin to explain the situation in detail, I open up the laptop....
And the guy at the store says "Did you notice your shift key is stuck down?".  Why No, I hadn't noticed that!  With a tiny wiggle and a tap, that key popped back into place and the computer worked fine.  The Safe Mode was happening because the shift key was down.

  • Nokia 520 faulty lock key

Can anyone give me an easy fix or tell me where i can get the lock key repaired as it seems to be stuck in the handset? Ive tried the obvious trouble shooting suggestions and still not working. I don't want to fiddle with it causing further damage.

Hi, jamm118. Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions! We understand that you already have tried some basic troubleshooting steps to resolve this. But, we'd just like to verify if you have tried to properly remove & reinstall your battery cover:
At the top corner of your phone, put the nail of your index finger in the seam between the screen frame and the back cover. Press the middle of the back cover, and bend the cover to loosen the top hooks. Remove the cover. Do not use any sharp tools, as they may damage the screen.
If the issue remains, you can take it to a Nokia Care Point, as previously advised by @93tid

  • Caps lock key does not work...

my caps lock key was working perfectly up until 10-15 minutes ago.
when i press my caps lock key, the little light on the key does not turn on and all of my letters remain in lowercase.
i thought perhaps something was stuck underneath the key, but when i took the key off - nothing was there. i placed it back on and still the caps lock key does not work.
does anyone have any ideas as to why the problem could be and how to fix it?

Finally found something that worked for me. See this thread and look for the post about removing the Hitoolbox plist files.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10765093&#10765093
I removed all of them. (Had multiples) Also make sure you empty the trash afterwards.
    Then restart.
Then I used the modifier key trick in this thread. Turned off the caps lock key. Then restart.
Then use the modifier key trick and turn the caps lock key back on. Test to see if your lights come back on for the caps lock key.
If so, next time you restart it should still work. Finally. This thing has been dogging me for a long time.
