Lenovo W530 USB Port

I am posting this in the hope that some Lenovo employee will see it and finally rectify the absolutely atrocious customer supprt that they have extended to date.
I bought a Lenovo W530 a while backj, and ordered a USG port at the same time. The USB port came immediately, but the W530 was subjected to a series of 2 week delays (or stalling by Lenovo to be honest), and when it finally came, the power jack that came with the W530 didn't fit the USB port (it has a couple of lugs presumably foir a tighter fit, but the USB port was different). I raised iyt with the Dublin support centre, but again all I got was prevarication and stalling, until eventually they stopped replying.
So I have a Lenovo W530 (which has not been the best machine I have ever bought and will be the last from them) and a USB port that cost me £90 but which I have never been able to use.
Any ideas on how best I can get this rectified?
Bob

Hi, Now since windows 7 is officially supplied with Lenovo, when will the right driver for the  Lenovo Enhanced USB Port Replicator and Windows 7  be ready to use?

every port will install native under vista x64.   if displaylink isn't picked up then you can download the driver here.

  • [W530] USB ports not working

    Hi there,
I just noticed that the three USB ports on the left of my W530 are not working.
Only the one at the back is fine.
This laptop is just back from Lenovo for a motherboard change. Is it possible that they forgot to plug the USB card?
Close to the USB ports, the VGA port is working fine - and my smartcard reader is OK too.
    any suggestions?
    thanks,

    1) Shutdown
    2) Plug in a flash drive into one of those ports
    3) Tap F12 at the ThinkPad splash screen
Does the flash drive show up in the boot device selector?

  • 3000 v200 + Lenovo Enhanced USB Port Replicator + Samsung SyncMaster 2043WM - Can't make it work

Hi there! Have spent tons of time solving this - but if I plug my SyncMaster screen into the port replicator, my 3000 V200 does show a mirror image on the SyncMaster (but its blurred and does not fit the screen) but at the same time I can't make the system recognize that I have two different screens running.
If I plug the SyncMaster directly into the 3000 v200, it recognizes that I have two screens and the graphics are better (but not great) - but all I wanted was just a very convenient docking station like arrangement.
I have tried the software the came with the port replicator (many times)

I am having a very similar problem but do not have an answer either.  I am running an X61 Type 7676A12 with a Lenovo ACP50 port replicator FRU part number 40Y8160.  I am running Windows XP Pro.  The port replicator has never been very great and would not restore the external monitor picture properly when the laptop had been in sleep mode however it was serviceable if not optimal.  After downloading and installing the October MS security updates the machine would get a BSOD when the port replicator was plugged in.  Remove the replicator and reboot and it worked ok.  Plug it in again and BSOD.  I tried upgrading the drivers from 5.1.4a to 7.1.1.03Aug07 and then to 7.1.2.  No go.  Emailing Targus with the problem got no response.  The port replicator is now relegated to my junk heap of useless rubbish.

  • Dual display with Lenovo USB Port Replicator 43R8770

    Hi,
I have installed the Lenovo USB port replicator using the 1.0.0.1 drivers.  I am running Windows XP on a Thinkpad X300.
I can successfully get into dual display mode but when I try to make the external monitor my primary display it will not work.  It just switches my primary monitor back the notebook LCD without displaying any errors.
If I disable the notebook display I can set the external as the primary but as long as the notebook is enable the external cannot be set as the primary.
Has anyone ever seen this before?

  • Enhanced usb port replicator Windows 7 Driver

I have a T400s and just upgraded to Windows 7 and have been unable to find a Windows 7 driver for my Lenovo Enhanced usb port replicator.  I have checked the list of beta Win 7 drivers and it does not seem to be listed.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I have this and didn't install ANY extra drivers for it.
Everything is recognised however you will need to get the Displaylink driver for the video from the Display link site...

I have tried mouse. keyboard and a generic USB stick with a LED. None of the USB ports work on the replicator. Everything works fine when connected directly to the W530. The replicator ports must not have power because the LED doesn't come on.

  • Thinkpad W530 Yellow (Rear) USB port stopped working

I have had my W530 for about 3 month and the rear yellow USB port just stopped working a few days ago. I have recovered the whole system to factory status and updated the BIOS but the USB port is still not working. I tried several devices, it seems like that the USB has no power at all. The LED on the flash drives do not come on when I plug it in. All the other USB ports are working. Has anyone encountered the same problem before? Any help is appreciated.

    Hi all,
The yellow USB port of my W530 stopped working suddenly today. It can charge but cant recognize any devices. The other devices work well. I have tried many ways like updating the bios, setting the bios to defaults... still not working.
seems that its a big issue
    Any ideas? Thank you!

  • Does Lenovo warranty cover USB ports?

I'm about to send my T400 in for maintenance due to a messed up motherboard, but before that 2 of the 3 USB ports had not been functioning for a while.

Any chance the broken USB port is _causing_ the motherboard problem?  What are the symptoms?
There are quite a few posts here saying that bent pins in a USB connector shorted something (5V power, maybe) and prevented a motherboard from firing up.  If you straighten the bent pin does the mobo come to life?
I guess the end-game is the same either way.

  • Lenovo Slim USB Portable DVD burner doesn't work

This burner works fine on all my colleagues lenovo thinkpads but won't work on my Yoga. Very frustrating! Any suggestions

    Hello,
Is the external DVD drive plugged into two USB ports on the computer?  One USB port may not provide enough current to power the drive.

  • Buying the right Lenovo w530 for CS5 Master Collection; I should be smarter, but time is an issue!?!

    Hi Everyone
I'm buying a Lenovo w530 for graphic design and video editing on CS5 Master Collection - the whole package!
I have various solutions for HD setup, but no knowledge of hardware or setup in general for a complete machine where the various parts complement each other in a way that there is no obvious bottleneck coming up to fast.
RAID 0 SETUP ON A LAPTOP VERY IMPORTANT???
I'm following lynda.com for various online lessons as this is not my primary occupation, and one of the instructors stresses the need for a raid 0 setup.
Having to do this means ordering directly from Lenovo in the US, because they need to install another devise in the machine.
I prefer not to as I live in Denmark. It's so much easier dealing with local suppliers, and the possibilities that’s already in the machine. I realize that in desktop systems you'll prefer larger solutions with more drives and faster connections. In the Lenovo I’m limited by different setups.
HARD DRIVE SETUP - SSD or 7200 for OS and then what for working disc???
Do I really need raid 0 on a laptop for working files (small web videos) or will SSD Sata III do?
    For OS:
Should I go for a 7200 drive as OS drive and an SSD as secondary drive in the DVD slot via an adapter?
Or should I go for an SSD drive as OS drive, and also as a secondary drive in the DVD slot. (what sizes should they bee)
    CPU
Intel Core i7-3820QM 2,7GHz Quad Core (3,7Ghz Turbo)
    Ram
    16 or 32 mb
    Harddisk
    500 GB 7200RPM
    2GB NVIDIA Quadro K2000M + Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Optimus auto-switch)
    CD/DVD
Serial Hard Drive Bay Adapter III with secondary SSD Sata 3 harddisc, could be something from
120 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
160 GB SSD Intel 320 Series
180 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
240 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
480 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
600 GB SSD Intel 320 Series
    or
    CPU
    Intel Core i7-3720QM 2,6GHz
    Ram
    16 or 32 mb
    Harddisk
240GB SSD(odd size but thats what it says)
    Videocard
    2GB NVIDIA Quadro K2000M + Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Optimus auto-switch)
    CD/DVD
Serial Hard Drive Bay Adapter III with secondary SSD Sata 3 harddisc, could be something from
120 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
160 GB SSD Intel 320 Series
180 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
240 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
480 GB SSD Intel 520 Series
600 GB SSD Intel 320 Series
Back up is intended from the usb 3 port to some disc - haven't looked at it yet.
    FIRST BOTTLENECK?
I hope my system will recognize the NVIDIA card as a friendly given that’s it’s so much newer than my Master Collection CS5.
I'm curious as to where in this system the first bottleneck will be when I start working.
Processor, RAM, Graphics card, hard disc setup
Can anyone recognize this straight away?
Does anyone know how the Graphic cards it handles effects in PP?
I'll be glad for all help I can get BEFORE 1 of Jan where part of my funding vanishes...
al best and happy holidays to all

I do not own and have never used a W530, however having played with various laptop and desktop setups running CS5 I have the following to offer you:
    - Suggest the i7-3720QM over the more expensive and ever so slightly faster i7-3820QM CPU
    - Suggest sticking with the K2000M vs. the K1000M with 1/2 the number of cores (you will need to do the ever so common "hack" for Adobe to recognize this GPU; don't worry, this is not a risky step, you simply need to find and delete a text file after installing the software)
    - You can go with either a 7200 rpm boot or SSD choice for the OS / programs; the SSD will perform normal PC chores faster, but the performance level of the boot drive will not impact Premiere Pro as much as the additional drive(s) that you have
    - Suggest you get a third party solution for adding the optical bay 2nd HD (or SSD); I would choose the 750GB Seagate Momentus to insert into it (NewModeUS, eBay sellers, etc.); this will save you a lot of money and will work just fine.
    - In the USA you can request 16GB in 2 sticks so presumably you could expand to 32GB later with minimal cost; do this if you can
    - Suggest start with W530 loaded and configured with Adobe and see if it performs fast enough for you. And, if you want more speed, you could add a USB 3.0 (W530 does not support eSATA like the W520 did) external drive to give you a bit more performance.
    - Of course big, fast, expensive SSDs would be faster (and smaller) for your optical bay and / or USB 3.0 connected drives, but they are very expensive (per GB) compared with 7200 laptop drives and you most likely will be just fine without it.
I found the link about the guy who purchased a W530 for use on a sailboat, but I see you already found it! (you posted to it).

  • USB Port does not work W510

    Hello all,
I am writing to you hoping that one of you may have an idea what's wrong with my beloved w510.
A few hours ago the usb port (on the back on the right side) where I plugged in my external mouse stopped working.
In the Lenovo part list it is referred to as "usb Sub card yellow".
It just does not recognize a mouse nor any usb stick or external drive. I have already reinstalled the usb controller
but it didn't make any difference. (I think the driver is only for the usb 3 hub on the left side of the notebook)
when I plug in the external drive the lights of the drive start "flashing" same for the usb stick, but they are not recognized as drives..Same for the mouse. The lights go on, but nothing else works.
Probably its all my fault, but I don't know what else I can try! Please excuse my bad English...!
Hoping that somebody might be able to help me...
    Paul

I have a reproducible test for this issue on my W510.
    1) Plug in a usb mouse into the rear usb port and ensure the mouse is working.
    2) Hybernate the system.
    3) Resume the system.
    4) Confirmed the mouse does not work.
    5) Disconnect and attach the mouse to one of the left usb ports and confirm the mouse works.
    6) Disconnect and attach to the rear usb port and confirm the mouse does NOT work.
    7) Restart the system and confirm the mouse still does NOT work.
    8) Shut down the computer (a full shutdown, not standby or hybernate).
    9) Power the system back on.
    10) Confirm the mouse is now working in the rear port.
I can do these steps over and over with the same results regardless of whether the AC adapter is plugged in or not.  It appears that the data connection does not work after the system is resumed from a sleeping state.  I have the latest UltraNav driver and utility and the latest power management updates.
Oh, and one more test.  Hybernate the system with nothing plugged in, then plug in a mouse into the rear usb port when the system is presently hybernated and then power the system back on.  The mouse will not work and rebooting doesn't correct it.  Only a full shutdown fixes it.

  • USB ports don't work after resuming from standby with Windows 8 on X230 tablet

I have just done a clean install of Windows 8 on my X230 tablet.  Before installing Windows 8 I installed the most recent BIOS for this machine (version 2.50).  After installing Windows 8 I installed System Update from the Lenovo Website and downloaded all the recommended drivers and other files.  I've also installed all the latest Windows 8 updates.
Here are the symptoms of my problem: After resuming from standby/sleep mode, my USB ports do not work.  My computer has two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 ports.  All exhibit the same behavior.  After resuming from standby mode I have tried inserting both my mouse and a USB thumbdrive, but neither are recognized.  After restarting Windows, the USB ports work again... until I resume from standby mode again.
I hope there is a solution to this issue.  It is very frustrating.

Thanks for the suggestion about tweaking the "Allow this computer to turn off this device" feature.  I un-checked that box for every entry I could find under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" in the Devide Manager.  Unfortunately, the same symptoms of my problem persisted.
I went back and looked at the README file associated with the BIOS 2.50 download on Lenvo's support site.  At the bottom of the file it gives a "Summary of Changes".  Under version 2.03 of the BIOS (the version just before version 2.50), it says:
    - (Fix) Fixed an issue where USB device might not detected when system resume from sleep mode.
This indicates that Lenovo support was already aware of such issues.  The problem was intended to be fixed in version 2.03 of the BIOS.  However, the issue persists on my machine, even with the latest BIOS.
Hopefully someone from Lenovo can comment here.
