Lenovo Warrantee Information

I have searched Lenovo's sight and googled it... I can't find any detailed information about the extended warrantee's Lenovo offers.
They will tell you the most basic information and many third parties offer the same. Can anyone give me some direction to finding out what these plans actually cover?
Thanks,
Marc

Marc,
You may need to explain a bit more as to what specifically you are looking for.  But, in the in mean time, you might follow this link to our support site which lists all the warranty information.   Following the links from that page, you can check whether your system is under warranty, learn about international warranty coverage, where to call, what countries have warranty service available for which systems, etc.   In addition, the actual warranty terms for the various systems are downloadable as doccuments.
This link will take you from that page to a page where the various service and warranty upgrades are explained, such as upgrading from depot repair coverage to onsite service, or the accidental protection coverages found as part of Thinkpad Protection.
Hopefully the information on these pages will help you with the answers you are looking for.
If not, tell us a bit more about what your looking for...

  • Lenovo Warrantee

    Hi Everyone,
Newbie here.  I'm expecting delivery on my new U110 and I'm having second thoughts that I should have ordered an extended warrantee.  My experience with PCs is that they are electronics and unless you throw it in the bathtub, if hardward fails because it is defective, it will usually go within the first few months.  However, this has not been the case with most if not all the laptops I've owned (Dell, Gateway, HP).  I don't think I've ever made it through (3) years without something going wrong and because of that, I've always extended the warrantee to (3) years at the point of purchase.  Well, to make a short story longer, because I was a little tight with funds on this purchase, I didn't purchase the warrantee and now I'm having second thoughts.  I've read that Lenovo builds a quality machine and I thought I'd ask around and get some feedback from you folks.  Should I bite the bullet and extend the warrantee?  Thanks in advance.

Unless you're asking about adding Accidental Damage Protection (to cover dropping it in the bathtub although I don't think it includes the life insurance your heirs would want  ), as far as I know you can wait until the last day of the existing warranty to extend it.  If you are asking about adding Accidental Damage Protection, that has to be done with 30 days of purchase (or is it within 21 days?  someone help me out here).

  • Error 1721 on repair/uninstall/reinstall of Lenovo Solution Center Windows 8 64-bit

    Hello,
I am seeking a solution to a problem with Lenovo Solution Center on a Lenovo W530 machine running Win 8 64-bit.
It was not updating the warrantee information, and so I attempted an install with the newest version of the program. It refused to uninstall. Lenovo support then decided that the best approach was to eliminate the directory containing the program.
Now I still have the program listed in my installed programs, but there is nothing I can do with it. It does not appear on my desktop (not surprisingly) but does not uninstall and using the new install package does NOT provide the option of install, but solely to uninstall or repair, neither of which works - giving the error 1721 message.
Next steps? (Tier 2 was to phone me over 1 week ago - no call....).
    Gary
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

After trying al the hints without effect, the last hint with the "MS FixIt"
    -Tool finally solved the problem!!!!!
It found 2 older {xxxxxxxxxxxxxx} registry entries from 2 former manual
updates which caused the problem. I had to run it 2 times for removing all
    error-causing problems.
After that ,the last version of the Lenovo Solution Center Windows 64-bit
package was able to install perfectly and is now running without any
    problems .
This solution I was looking for the last 3-4 months!!!!!!!
Thanks very very much ,for your perfect & profound help!
May I post this full solution letter of yours into the Lenovo forum, plse.??
I saw many people with the same 1721-fault searching for help too!
    Again many thanks
    Yours sincerely

  • Lenovo Vibe X2_CU

Well, Im a Lenovo Newbie.  I just purchased a Lenovo Vibe X" from Amazon as m sony fell off my bike and smashed to pieces, and the Lenovo looked so nice.It arrived today, it is super sexy, and super light which is great, however after a little reading and research, like so many others my bargain phone came at a price in thats it full of chinese apps, that I cant seem to get rid of. I have seen many posts in other forums on rom replacements, rooting etc, and though I am technical, many of these sights dont actually offer an actual working method. Surely someone on this forum can offer assistance to such things.  I will be happy to just root it and remove the apps I do not want or need.  I will need to be able to use the phone as an android device, so my thinking is to root will give me what I need to remove things, but not replace the actual rom with something custom built by someone I dont know. ANy one able to render assistance at all. It really is a great looking phone.

    Hi Vrony
This forum generally deals with the ROW International Lenovo devices.Information on CN only devices is limited. The Lenovo X2-CU is the Chinese/CU=China Unicom version. The ROW models are the X2-EU and X2-AP(market dependent)
As far as I know THIS are the X2-CU specs.
    HSDPA: 850 900 1700 1900 2100 HSPA+
Just to make sure you can install THIS app and check the supported frequencies.
    Open app->MTK Settings->BandMode->Check the supported frequencies(on SIM1 and SIM2).
Please do provide an update.Might help other X2-CU users.
    Thanks.

  • 3000 n200 Optical Drive problems

    Hi all.
I have a Lenovo 3000 N200  MT0687, that has NEVER had a properly working optical drive.
Purchased this machine, was on display, and they had lost the box, and no one knew the password on it, so formatted and installec Win XP. The optical drive will install Win XP and other operating systems, but once installed
will NOT look at any other Discs. Data, DVD's,  music CD's Will not see a blank cd/dvd so can't write to cd.
Have tried Ubuntu 8.04 with exactly the same result.
Everything else works fine on both WinXP and Linux. Optical Drive doesn't show in either.
I have been in touch with the Lenovo service centre on a number of occasions, and have had different answers
each time,  everything from updating the bios, to installing drivers. Nothing worked. Have been told my problem,  "original
image" not still on it. See below re re-installing said image with recovery cd's.
Lenovo sent me a new optical drive, a different make to the original, no change, still no
drive showing anywhere on XP. (Or ubuntu 8.04, I appreciate there is no support for Linux)
Lenovo even sent me a set of recovery discs(3), which I installed (after formatting, several times with bios set to both AHCI and Compatability) using both the internal and an external USB connected optical drive. Same result, system boots to "Welcome to Vista etc, then shutting down logging off, only to re-boot to the same place ad infinitum. In short  "recovery discs" did not recover. Get error message randomly when this happens "Side Bar error The application failed to initialize properly
(0xc0000189) " Click OK to terminate, but is too fast, and terminates itself.
Machine was sent to Selectron for checkout, told "Nothing wrong with it", but the Optical Drive working at last.
Partitioned Vista, (Shrunk Partition to 45gig) installed another operating system on new partition, can boot into both  systems
and recovery, working fine, but now no Optical Drive again.
Rang Lenovo again, informed them, and queried possibilty of buying a Win XP recovery disc, told drive will only work with
Vista, so waste of funds to get a Win XP recovery disc that may or may not work properly.
Am I missing an obscure driver, or will the drive only perform all it's functions running Vista
(which the recovery discs will not install properly)?. If this is the case shouldn't it (the fact that it needs Vista)
be mentioned at point of sale. Does this breach the Anti trust laws? I am afraid I am getting very fed up, would be nice not to have to carry around an external optical drive, that needs a power supply,  so if anyone has any ideas I would be extremely appreciative, would even consider naming y first born after them. Will post my problem on the Ubuntu lists again, hoping for resolution. Seems that it's a retty basic expectation that  CD drives just work. This should be a machine that can have software installed on it. Have 2 towers (1 dual boot) that have had a few optical drives changed with never any problems.
Thanks in advance. Any ideas very much appreciated.
    Winton

What a terrible service from Lenovo. Well after many phone calls to what turned out to be a call centre in Romania. and after being promised a replacement drive day after day one finally turned up. Even after fully explaining what I needed I was sent the wrong drive they sent me a DVD Rom and not the DVD Rewriter that was in my original laptop. The same Romanians have promised me the correct one on Monday. I will wait and see. I have little faith in Lenovo and their whole very poor support network. Quite frankly the drive should never have broken in  only 3 weeks and after only approx 8 uses.
I wonder what will turn up

  • Wire transfer missing?!

I ordered a Y510p Lenovo laptop, I received a confirmation about this order and also the necessary information needed for a wire transfer (via a Lenovo REP).
I wire transferred a X amount of USD to Lenovo on 4 Feb. 2014.
I suppose the amount should have been received by this time, but I never received any response.
I have tried to e-mail, no response. I tried the chat, I got referred to the Lenovo Credit Card Services. I tried the e-mail option via the website, and again was referred to the Lenovo Credit Card Services. The problem with the Credit Card Services is that they seem to not answer their phones very well. I have tried to call multiple times and have been on the line for 25+minutes and still there was no answer. Due to other more pressing matters I couldn't devote more time to waiting until one of staff members would finally answer their phone.
The problem now is that I seem to have become responsible for sorting things out on the Lenovo side of things, I don't really get this shift in responsibility. Every time I contact support I'm referred to the phone number of the Lenovo Credit Card Services (1-800-426-3325).
I would highly appreciate it if Lenovo would either:
    - Complete my order, for which I have paid the full amount required.
    or
    - Inform me about the status of my order, payment and/or the timespan in which Lenovo will inform me about this situation.
    or
    - Cancel the order and refund the full amount.
I'm looking forward to your reply. (I will be able to PM all necessary details.)
    Many thanks.
    Kind regards,
    pmr

    Hi,
You can set up payment methods for ACH and wire transfers in tcode FBZP. Those are used in F110.
    1. Select the payment method for wire or ACH when running F110. It will create a file for you to use for the banks.
    2. Setup paying company codes, house banks and accounts, bank determination, country and company payment methods and bank selection. You will have to use program RFFOUS_T for doing the ACH payment.
    3. You then do an FTP using the banks software transfer file and select the file you created and then send it to the bank.
    4. For wire transfer configuration please use Payment Method T and Payment Program RFFOUS_T also you can use program RFFOEDI1. To customize the program please read program documentation.
    Thanks

  • Can't configure personal cloud after firmware uppdate

I recently bought in ix2-device. I uppdated the firmware to version 4.1.108.32627 with the result that I now can't configure a personal cloud.
When I try, the browser opens the domain https://portal.iomegacloud.com with an error message saying the page can't be displayed.
Something must have gone wrong at the uppdating for the firmware. But what? And how do I fix this?

    Hello all,
If you are experiencing problems setting up or using personal cloud, please double check that port forwarding is in place and shown as open if using a port checking utility. (80, 443 for remote web browser access, 50500-50599 for LSM/basic cloud functions) How do I set up my router for Personal Cloud?

  • Upgrade ThinkPad W510 to Win 10

I want to try to update a 5 year old ThinkPad W510, which I have not really been using much, from Win 7 to Win 10. I don't yet see it in the compatability list yet so I am not sure whether it will be viable although hardware-wise it meets the Win 10 specs. I looked at the recommendations for upgrading from Win 7 to Windows 8 and I will attempt to follow those as a first step. 1) It recommended updating the BIOS as there was a BIOS change relating to Windows 8. I have done that.2) I will remove a lot of unused software. Those that I want to retain might need to be updated and I will install the latest ones after the upgrade.3) There was a list of five software programs / drivers that were indicated as being required to be removed. I will do that prior to the update.4) There was a whole slew of Lenovo software and some drivers that were recommended to be removed. I can do that also but it seems that Lenovo has not developed updated versions yet. I think it might be best to wait for those before committing to the upgrade.5) Regarding drivers, when I ran Windows Update under Win 7, it has 7 driver updates available: a) AuthenTec driver update for TouchChip Fingerprint CoProcessor [my device is made by UPEK] b) Intel Lan - Intel 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection c) Lenovo LCD (1366x768) [This is the .INF file defining the ThinkPad display] d) Lenovo Other Hardware - Lenovo PM (Power Mgmt) Device e) nVidia - Graphics Adapter Quadro FX 880M f) Ricoh Company - Storage - PCIe Memory Stick Host Controller g) Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device   Using Windows Update to install drivers has been prone to problems for many. I intend to update what I can from the Lenovo drivers site. a) Lenovo has an update to the Fingerprint software for Win7/Win8 which includes a new driver. Apparently AuthenTec bought up the technology from UPEK, that explains the name change. Since Lenovo recommends that the Fingerprint software be uninstalled, I am not sure whether to install the new software and then uninstall it prior to the Win 10 install or whether Lenovo will be coming out with a new version for Win 10. b) For the Intel LAN Adapter I will install the Lenovo update. c) I probably will let Windows Update install the LCD .INF file. Lenovo has two different versions, one appears to be newer which had included support for Win 10 and then removed it (?). d) The Power Mgmt Device is questionable since I was not able to find any update from Lenovo. e), f), g) I will use Lenovo's updates for these.  [ I would hope Win 10 would apply any driver updates that would be needed, but whether Lenovo will have new ones available shortly after the releae of Win 10, I don't know. ] Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,   JohnD

According to the information I have been able to find at Lenovo Support on upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and from Windows 7 to Windows 10, there appears to be a bunch of Lenovo software that must be or is recommended to be removed before doing the jump to Win 10. Whether I will be able to get updates for them at this point, I don't know. Since this will basically be used as a test system for Win 10, for somethings (such as the Fingerprint reader and a lot of other items) it is not a big deal. I will be happy to have basic functions working such as TouchPad, Keyboard, Ethernet, and Wireless. i will have some limited software installed which I also hope will continue to function. I suspect that Win 10 may update some of the drivers as part of the installation process. This is what I have gathered regarding what should remain and what should be uninstalled: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ KEEP:------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------     Intel Network Connection Drivers

  • 32-bit Driver Issues (OK in 64-bit)

I'm hoping someone from Lenovo monitors this forum...
    System: T500 2242-CTO w/ Integrated Graphics, Intel P8400, 3GB DDR3
I have two 2.5" SATA drives, on one I loaded Windows 7 32-bit and on the other I loaded Windows 7 64-bit.
I have discovered some lenovo software/driver bugs in Windows 7 32-bit, these bugs are not present in Windows 7 64-bit:
    - Power Manager/Power Management Driver: In Windows 7 32-bit, if you choose to enable the optical drive power off feature the optical drive will not resume from the powered off state unless you reboot or remove the optical drive from the system and re-insert it into the bay. This feature works appropriately in Windows 7 64-bit.
    - Windows 7 Device Experience and Registry Patch to arrange icons in Devices and Printers folders: The product information in the Devices and Printers folder does not update properly in 32-bit. The icon does not update to be a picture of a ThinkPad and double-clicking the icon does not provide lenovo specific information, it only provides generic information. (Not a big deal, but I think of it as one of those "it should work" things.) This works properly in Windows 7 64-bit.
Now for the opposite situation (things that work in Win 7 32-bit and not in 64-bit), in Windows 7 32-bit the system fan rarely runs. Most of the time passive cooling is sufficient. However, in Windows 7 64-bit the fan runs almost constantly, albeit at a lower speed. I'm still trying to pin down whether or not this is actually temperature related, although at this point it does not appear to be (which makes sense - 1% CPU usage is 1% or am I wrong here?)
I much prefer the quietness of Windows 7 32-bit (less fan noise and more battery life since the fan doesn't have to run as often) but I like the fact that everything works in Windows 7 64-bit...

32bit and 64bit versions have their own little problems. 32bit is already being phased out by Microsoft starting with Windows Server 2008 R2. On the other hand with 64bit you are using the whole CPU so it does get a little hotter. Think of it as double the processing speed on 32bit. Personally I would keep the 64bit copy as it will last longer and will offer better upgradeability.

  • Green screen issues when playing videos in fb + youtube

at first i noticed a re-occurring problem when playing videos via facebook or youtube. A green screen randomly appeared now and then until i reset the laptop. I tried many things, including one suggestion to change quality option from 480p to 140p via settings option in youtube. It worked on some occasions, was able to view video as the green screen disappeared. Of course, as expected, image quality suffered. I contacted Lenovo to inform them of issues I was having with viewing videos, they advised it was a problem with the adobe software and that I should check to see if I have an updated version installed on my laptop. (currently running O/S windows 8.1 and IE 11), I downloaded chrome, fortunately, I am able to view videos in youtube properly even though they appear as a green screen in IE 11. Not so lucky with facebook however, green screens in IE when playing Facebook video uploads appear as black screens in chrome. I reset the laptop and everything appears to be running fine. Is this an adobe software issue? Lenovo seems to think so, Seeing as how others experience the same issue regardless of the make and model of laptop, they may be right.

Please work through the video troubleshooting guide.

If you're still stuck, please follow the directions in the guide on providing the dxdiag report and additional information about what you tested and saw.

  • K410 - Windows 8 problem

Hi, wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.  I have a K410 it came with preinstalled windows 8.  I recently purchased the Microsoft Win Pro Media Centre upgrade, I went through the activation process all fine until it went to update the system and it crashed.
I followed the manual and the option to boot from the recovery was unavaialble, only option was the Windows restore option, after several attempts with Lenovo resore failed I did the Windows version which has wiped my HDD clean of the Lenovo restore information and also now fails to activate Windows 8 because I have a 'blocked' copy>
I need to be clear here that I have no pirate software, I have a genuine win8 that came with the PC and then a genuine media centre upgrade that I purcahsed, but I cannot activate either.  Obviously I can demonstrate proof of purchase should this be required. (sorry I got flamed on another board for trying to instal pirate software, so I thought I'd start with a clear message).
I've spoken to Lenovo and Microsoft both of whom were less than helpful, so wondered if anyone here could point me in the right direction.
    Cheers.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hi Woofy,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
The Lenovo K410 comes with a standard Windows 8 64bit. If you want to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center (by using a Windows 8 Pro Pack as shown on this video) but the system crashes, you problem maybe similar to this thread.
What you can try is to:
    1. Obtain a recovery disc from Lenovo or get a Windows 8 64bit standard disc and install it on the system (the embedded OA3 key on the motherboard will activate your copy of WIndows).
    2. Perform a clean boot by doing the following:
    a. Press the Windows Key+R > type msconfig
    b. Under msconfig, navigate to the services tab, check Hide All Microsoft Services and click Disable all
    c. Next go to the Startup Tab, click Task Manager

  • Apple care, finding days remaining

Once upon a time I coulda sworn I could plug my serial into the support section for warrantee information and get an actual 'days remaining'. Now all I get is date of purchase and that I have APP. Did Apple change how one finds this information or am I doing something wrong?

    Mathue,
I believe they have changed and you now have to contact Apple to get that information either by e-mail or phone.I'd have your purchase info at the ready just in case they want it.

  • Useless - Extended Warrenty sold while trying to get laptop repair

My daughters G550 laptop had about 1 month(Mid-Sep-2010) of 'Factory Warranty' left. I contacted Lenovo for information on how/where to ship the laptop to for repair. The person I talked to convinced me to purchase an additional two-year warranty for $101. It made sense to me then.
The laptop was sent for repair and a few days later I got a call that the problem was that a liquid was spilled on the keyboard that fried the motherboard and this was not covered by the factory warranty and it would cost me about $360 to have it repaired. This I can't argue about since I did not have a damage type of warranty. But for the repair cost, I'd be better off buying a new laptop. The laptop was returned to me on 31-Aug-2010.
I tried to call Lenovo to cancel the additional two year warranty. The last phone number I think I used was 866-968-4465. The person I talked to said I couldn’t cancel the 'additional two year warranty'. This doesn't make sense to me. The new warranty hasn't started and I can't use it anyways!
Anybody have any ideas or am I just wrong?

Perhaps you can submit it for repair under the extended warrenty. Since they insist you keep that warrenty, then they should be willing to honor it.
Alternatively you might consider disputing the charge if you paid by credit card.
Personally I've found that the extended warrenties on an old laptop often cost about what the laptop would sell for on ebay, and if so, then imagine how much less it will sell for in 2years when it's more likely to need the warrenty service.

  • Vibe X2 CU Multilanguage support and GAPPS?

    Hi all,
Has anyone heard about multilanguage and GAPPS support for Vibe X2 CU for Android Lolipop? We have to choose either dual sim or multilanguage - gapps support. And why can't we have both at the same time? These are very common features , all other brands have dual sim models without any lack of features of original version. I really did not understand why we are forced to make a choise? Vibe X2 is the most stylish phone ever made. Really sorry , lack of dual sim out of China is a bad decision...

    Open app->MTK Settings->BandMode->Check the supported frequencies(on SIM1 and SIM2).
Please do provide an update.Might help other X2-CU users.
    Thanks.
