Lenovo: What should i do?
This thread may need to be moved somewhere else, i'm not sure.
History, purchased laptop little over a month ago. It crashed in the first day. Called Lenovo and scheduled for them to pick it up. They emailed a shipping label and had Fed ex pick it up.
After some time i get a call asking what i want to do and i say fix it. They email me a week or so later and tell me it needs a cpu and a mother board and that the parts have been ordered. At this point i'm a little concerned and starting to feel like i bought an inferior product (b590).
Some more time goes by and eventually i get an email telling me that the computer is not repairable and that they would like to replace it with another one. Now i'm starting to feel better about things; and the replacement is better.
I email them back saying that this would be acceptable.
Up to this point has been probably a month in total.. I understand and feel like they are trying to get this resolved, and i am glad to be done with the original computer. This replacement email by them was two nights ago. Today fed ex shows up with a package from them that i needed to sign. I did and come to find out it is the original laptop.
At this point i want nothing to do with the original product and feel like i chose an ingerior machine. I did open the box and verified it was said computer, turned it on and it is no longer windows 7. That was one of the reasons for getting it. There were much better choices / value if i were looking at windows 8 machines.
So basically i'm done with it. It had a "welcome william" when starting it and a "click to activate windows" when i turned on the machine. I did not click or do anything at that point and turned it off and put it back in the box.
I guess it's a case of buyers remorse, but after all the problems i have zero confidence in it and want either the machine they wanted to replace it with or a refund.
Is this something i can do? I have not had a day of use out of the computer. It has been tied up with lenovo for the most part.
I may be out of line on what i want, but thought it best to see if someone from Lenovo could give me some advice on the forum here.
Also, since the email with the replacement offer i have not had any luck getting in touch with the lenovo person either by email or their phone. Just an answer machine where i left a message.
I guess i lost control over the situation when i signed for the machine today from fed ex.

I've bought my first thinkpad x230 from lenovo offical online store and recived it on yesterday. I was very exciting when I receive this extreamely light and pretty notebook.
-However, it not last long... After typing a series of numbers, the “5” key was automatically filped open!!! And I can not put it back again!!!
-I can't understand why will this happen in such kind of well-known computer? I have never faced this kind of problem when I using those cheap keyboard!
So, I wan't to know what should I do? I've contacted the tech support, she told me she will submit my problem to some guys and hopefully call me back, however, I didn't receive any call from lenovo.
I've searched on google and found some guy's thinkpad also have this problem....What should I say? How bad luck I am or what a low quality of lenovo? Or both?
Can I bring this poor quality thinkpad to the nearest retailer store to seek for help？ Or I should go to the official service center which is very far from me....

You'll have to phone the service center and ask. (When I lived not far from Lenovo's Canadian service center and wanted to bring in a ThinkPad for warranty repair they said that would be OK with them but my unit would be put on a queue the same as if I'd shipped it in. They simply didn't offer walk-in, while you wait service.)
In the interim it may or may not be possible to reattach the key, even just temporarily, depending on whether it wasn't put on properly at the factory or if it's physically broken in some way. Or you could use an external keyboard until Lenovo sends you a replacement, etc.
I've just call the local service center, he told me that he can not repair individual key, they can just replace the whole keyboard..... How bad luck I am!!! -
Please help - Brand new X1 Carbon defective out of the box - is this normal? what should I do next?
Hello all,
So, as a loyal Lenovo customer I decided to purchase the X1 Carbon 2nd Gen (non-touch, I5 version).
Last week I finally received it.
Unfortunately, the first thing I noticed was a defective touchpad - very loose, the right bottom corner was not solid
enough and made a weird noise while clicking it. It drove me crazy since I am used to the top build quality the Thinkpad series offers.
I took to the local Lenovo service center, they actually replaced it on the spot and it made it better, not great but better. I still think there is something wrong there, since the bottom two "buttons" don't feet and sound as good as the upper ones.
But that I can tolarate.
The thing that really pissed me off was this: To me demise, after using the laptop in a dark room I noticed this massive screen bleed :

My question to you guys, is this okay? is this an acceptable bleed? or should I do whatever it takes to get it repaired/replaced?
I just hope they will know how to handle this here at local center, as from my experience dealing with computer reps here, the local Lenovo agent (which is actually the importer) will not replace it for me (their excuse is that it wasn't bought in this country)
This is amazing, in one year Lenovo has lost it's entire reputation over the 2nd Gen X1 carbon.

Thank you very much.The official method of creating / escalating to a complaint is to call support, with previous call numbers handy, and request the representative to escalate your case to a complaint. They will then create a complaint on your behalf and also be able to inform you about the complaints proceedure.

iTunes u closes as soon as I open it. What should I do?

It starts with a checklist for getting PrE set up properly, then moves into tuning up one's system and OS (you have done a lot of that already), and then goes into troubleshooting tips. Note: those tips rather work up quickly in "degree of difficulty," and DO become quite technical, but things like the "Finding Clues" link will give some tools, that might prove useful, like the use of Windows' Event Viewer to track down issues.
One of the first things to look at would be your video driver. I would go to the video card's/chip's mfgr's. Web site, and check for a later driver. Do not trust Windows, or any utility to tell you if you have the latest driver. If there is not a newer video driver, or it will not install properly on your system, be sure to check with the HP Web site, as HP, Dell, Lenovo, and some other mfgrs. will re-package video drivers to suit their specific setup.
One troubleshooting technique, that might prove useful (however, those deleted programs bother me a bit here), would be to create a System Restore Point for now (see Windows Help for doing this with your particular OS version). Then, boot to Safe Mode, and choose an older System Restore Point, from when things did work. This might take some trial-and-error, to get back far enough. Test. At the worst, you will only have lost a few minutes, as you have your new System Restore Point for now, to fall back on.

I remove by mistake the realtek audio device high definition audio bus. Now, the sound of my computer is not working. What should I do?first go to start-all programs- windows update is at the top of the list follow the prmpts to install microsoft update which is the new version of windows update if microsoft update is all ready installed go there and select custom then let it look for updates
then if it detects missing drivers it will install or guide you on what to do. If you have an r52 laptop then try this link.

2 if that doesnt work then try this open device manager right click on the sound device you may have to expand sound, video and game controlers on the tab that comes up select properties then select the drivers tab select update driver.
do it this way incase the driver installation failed the frist time it may not ask you to update again if you didnt uncheck the box that came up on frist try.
3.find a mother board disk and search the disk using explore for ac97 realtech driver. actually windows update should solve it also try there FIX IT web site there are many automatied fixes there for your use. -
What should I upgrade my T61p into?

I'm long time owner of T61p and I'm pretty satisfied with it. It worked really great for me for the past 4 years but I think it's high time for an upgrade. I'm not that much into laptops so I would really apprectiate any kind of advice about what should I choose since I have completely no idea what models are popular and suitable for me. I use my laptop mostly for gaming and photoshop.

What should I get with my new S10?
I bought my S10 last month in Hong Kong, when I check the CDs inside the package, the salesperson told me it did not provide a Windows setup CD. And if I want to reset my S10, I can only use the OneKey Recovery option.
But recently, I found someone on the net said Lenovo will provide the Windows setup disk to S10 owner. Someone even said that they can request the CD from Lenovo if the Windows CD did not come with their S10.
So I just wonder if anybody know what should the situation be? Because if I can get the Windows setup disk, I would like to purchase an upgrade version of Vista to install on my S10.

Please could you tell me how you managed to get the Lenovo recovery utilities to make an XP recovery CD on the S10? My Lenovo menu in All Programs shows Energy Management as the only option, and ThinkVantage shows just System Update.

Re. the one-key-recovery system - how on earth does one access this on the S10/S10e? There's a "OneKey Recovery" application in the Program Files->Lenovo->Applauncher directory but it just offers IE, Outlook, Media Player, Live Photo and Movie Maker!!! Very confusing.
N.B. Even my Novo button seems a bit weird - if the computer is off it just boots XP as usual, without showing QuickStart; if the computer is on it just shows the Applauncher menu; the functionality of the Novo key appears to be very different on the S10 to other IdeaPads...

my ipod touch will no longer connect to my laptop because my ipod is not up to date, but it won't find a newer software. what should I do?
the computer is a macbook pro, mac os x 10.6.08 and the ipod touch is ios 6.0.
the problem is that just updated the itunes on the computer and now the ipod won't connect because apparently the itunes on the ipod is not up to date but the iod is telling me that is is up to date, so i can't do a software update. -

What do you mean by 'my iTunes id is not working' ? Of you mean that it's disabled then you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your iOS deviced by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Store on iOS 6+) and then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on them.
If that doesn't fix it then you might need to contact iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

In terms of creating a new account, there are instructions on this page for how to create one without giving credit card details : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 - the instructions won't work with existing accounts, and any content that you bought/downloaded with your existing acocunt will remain tied to that existing account. -
I was on a boat ride when some water fell on it but it was just a little bit then when i tried to control the sound and volume while playing and listening to music it didn't showed anything and just with headphones it appeared again and i could listen and I could control it again but when i take the headphones out it goes back to the same thing.What should I do??

Well you see, I just got this new Ipod 5G that I really wanted but something went wrong when I tried to sync it with Itunes. It said that the ipod needed 10.7 Itunes but clearly I had not so late version 10.6.3. And I can't update my itunes because it is at the point where it can not update for now so I don't know when it will ever update to 10.7 but right now I am stuck on 10.6.3. And if I can't get it to update how will I be able to sync my music into this new ipod, what should I do?
You need to buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD or use a combination of these instructions and iTunes Match to put content onto the iPod touch.

Firefox freezes when I switch tabs or write in a form.
Every time I switch tab by clicking on them(and sometimes when using the short cut, ctrl+tab ctrl+2 etc) or when I start writing in the awesomebar/a form Firefox freezes. It just visual freeze so I can still go to a website, click on stuff and so on.
