Lenovo Windows 7 PID

Hello!!!
I have a WS520 and windows 7. The taskmanager does not show a PID (process Identification niumber) and I need it badly. There are other troublesome sifference. The taskmanager window is missing. I suspect the differences are in the registry, bit I can't swear to it.

ok, that makes sense... and i've got the answer for you.
your task manager is in 'small footprint' mode'.
to change back, open task manager and double-left-click anywhere in the border between the window edge and the thin line demarking the information section of the window. right above the column headers is a good place.
try it and post back.

JIm, you can make the text larger....look at the Interface Tab on the Preferences menu and you'll see several different Font size options (although there are less on OSX apparently). Make a selection, then close and restart Lightroom for the change to take effect.

Installing Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade in a new hard disk

I have an U330 and I have received Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade disc. My pre-installed OS is Windows Vista.
I bought a new 500 Gb hard disk and I want to change my U330's hd for this new one AND also want to install Windows 7 in this new hard disk.
Question: is is possible to install windows 7 using Lenovo Windows 7 upgrade discs directly in this new hard disk?
Or do I need first to change the hard disk (and restore backup or restore factory default) and then upgrade to Windows 7?

I dont think it is possible,the upgrade disk will check for a eligible version of Windows vista before starting the installtion

Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade questions (please help)

Dear Lenovo Community:
I recently purchased a Thinkpad T500 and signed up for the Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade Program. I have a few questions that I haven't been able to find the answers to elsewhere. I was hoping some of you could help:
1) Will the Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade disc include both the 32 and 64 bit install options? My T500 came loaded with Vista Ultimate 32, but I would like to do a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 if possible.
2) I've recently heard a lot about the Lenovo Enhanced Experience. Can anyone briefly explain what this is? Will I be able to take advantage of all the EE features with my T500 using the Windows 7 Upgrade?
3) My computer came pre-loaded with 3 drives (or maybe they're partitions?): C:, Q: (Lenovo), and S: (ServiceV003). How will these drives/partitions be affected with the Windows 7 Upgrade if I opt for a clean install? Will I be able to eliminate the Q: and S: drives if I want? (I have a Samsung Solid State Drive by the way, in case this matters.)
4) Finally, when will the Upgrade discs be shipping? Lenovo and Mentor Media have been rather silent about when we will receive our upgrades. Can we expect an e-mail update indicating that our order has shipped?

1. Bit foggy on this. Will have to do a clean install for sure. Not sure if 32 and 64 bit are on same disk. As you have ultimate, you might be at an advantage here.
2. Look at the videos in other threads. You will get "some" of the benefit. I'm actually guessing wiht a clean install, you will have afaster machine than one of the EE ones with all of the crapware
3. re-partition into a single drive. They will be of no use to you. Or, pop out the drive and clean install to a new SSD ($250) or WD Scorpio Black ($75) drive for extra speed. I'm doing this giving me the option of putting the old drive back in to have Vista in factory condition if I ever need to (I don't expect to and will probably wipe the drive and re-use it in 6 months).
4. Other thread suggested 1/2 have shipped and rest will ship next week.

Lenovo windows not visible (Fn+F5/Vol/Bright)

Hello all, new to the forums and looking for some help with my S10 Ideapad
I cant say for how long, but lately, Ive noticed that the Lenovo windows that display notifications for changes are not coming up.
I will press Fn+F5 for the wireless settings, to toggle WiFi or newly added BT, but no window pops up, nor does the wireless status change (remains on) - I can only toggle the setting by pressing the physical WiFi key at the top of the keyboard.
Same goes for the volume settings and the screen brightness settings using Fn+arrow keys, though the values do change.
Normally, I wouldnt care about this, but I am not sure the hard-key for WiFi wil allow me to toggle the BT settings, once I install the card.
I have not changed anything (that I know of) other than the Windows bubble notifications at the start bar (through RegEdit) and I doubt this would have any effect on a Lenovo program.
I have gone through MsConfig as well, making sure all programs begin at start up, but no change there either.
I did see there is a hotkey fix for other Lenovo pads, but Im not sure it will fix the problem or just add to it.

i have the same problem with my U350 , but only the brigthness does not work evne when i press Fn+arrow up and down. i can see the indicator but cannot move, i have even unclick the light sensor. any driver for the light sensor as i cannot see it in device manager

NO Lenovo Windows 8.1 Recovery DVD for CLEAN INSTALL! + unable to Install UEFI MODE

Hi,
I Just bought 25 Thinkpad T431s Laptops for my company (@ISRAEL)
All of them came with windows 7SP1 Installed And Recovery is Windows 8 (not 8.1 even though 8.1 is out for a yr!)
The Install process takes 3 Hours!!! Just for upgrading to windows 8.
Then I need to upgrade to 8.1 - the process is about 3 hours more! Because I need to Register And create Microsoft account for each user then to verify the account.
After that I need to Log with the account to the PC And then Download the update (3.5GB) And Install it.
IS ANYONE AT LENOVO THINKS THAT ITS ACCEPTABLE?
DO I WORK FOR LENOVO? DO I NEED TO SPEND 6 HOURS FOR UPGRADING EACH LAPTOP?
Don't forget that after that I need to uninstall all the bloater from the PC. Like Symantec AV (Because Enterprise company's uses Enterprise Class AV, FW And other software. We uses Kaspersky Enterprise, ESET, And others...)
AND ABOVE ALL.
If I want to Install Original Windows 8.1 I can't!
Because the OS Recovery DVD is not bootable And contain special recovery files with special extensions. Also, there is no PRODUCT CODE! Just "WINDOWS 8" sticker logo on the back of the notebook.
SO I WANT TO KNOW WHERE AND HOW(!)
I CAN GET A WINDOWS 8.1 ORIGINAL ISO IN ORDER TO INSTALL IT ON ALL MY PC's.
I want to know why I can't Install Just the "OPERATING SYSTEM RECOVERY DISK" (A standard clean Install)

Customer service in ISRAEL said that this is not possible! And that the only way is:
1. Use the 3 DVD recovery disks to format And Install windows 8.0
2. Register the user with a Microsoft account
3. Log in to each PC with his own Microsoft account
4. Download 8.1 update from Microsoft store
3. Install the 3.5GB update.
4. uninstall all the bloater.
So can I please ask you to confirm the answer I got from LENOVO ISRAEL. If So, ill return the laptops And that will the last time ANY OF MY COMPANY'S WILL EVER BUY ANY NOTEBOOKS OR TABLETS FROM LENOVO!
In addition, im trying to figure out how can I contact Lenovo main office to file a complaint against Lenovo Israel.
CEO Ms. Sigal didn't do anything to try And solve the issue, the product manager Mr. Many talk with me on the phone And was very rood. At the end he hang up the phone in my face! After I proved him wrong in another issue (T440s T431s cannot be installed with UEFI Because External DVD drive does not support UEFI Install only Legacy. And there is a big different between Legacy And UEFI)

I'm sorry to read about your experience.
I don't work for Lenovo but it would appear to me that something may have gone wrong at the sales / purchasing stage; to my knowledge the T431s is only available with Windows 7 preload, (with Win 8 recovery discs in some cases as you have), or with Windows 8 preload. A Win 8.1 preload doesn't appear to be available for the system, but I stand to be corrected on this. If you required Windows 8.1, in my opinion the better option of the two, would have been a system with the Win 8 preinstall as this would only require updating to Win 8.1
Unfortunately I also can't envisage Lenovo creating a factory image for the T431s because it must be pretty near end of life.

Lenovo Windows 7 Upgrade Program site is broken (forcing 64-bit to 32-bit)

When I attempt to register my T400 for upgrade to Windows 7 the website offers me the incorrect upgrade.
If I set the Original Windows OS installed to: Windows Vista Business 64-bit
the Eligible upgrade Windows 7 product is: Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
The opposite is also true; original Vista Business 32-bit -> upgrade Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.
Other version upgrades also give the same problem.

Use ABR tool to backup your product key.
Download a 32 bit version of your windows 7
Install, then activate with with your old product key, and install all drivers as needed
If you want a copy of the Lenovo disc:
Lenovo media can be ordered in 32/64 bit versions for ~$45

You guys (aimed at any Lenovo employees btw, not the volunteer!) should quit falsely advertising that systems that are capable of the upgrade when they really aren't. The ideapad Y480 is listed on there but if it has the 1TB HD, 32GB SSD, like mine, won't upgrade in the way specified on ya'lls Support Express website for Windows 8.
(What I'm guessing though is that the 'reputable' Lenovo employees who created the Support Express site for Windows 8 just threw together a list of systems they assumed would work without testing anything. )

right now, your W510 is on the 'supported' list. i wouldn't be surprised to see links added to the page pointing to model-specific win8 support pages once the os is generally available.

Why won't the Itunes installer install on my Lenovo Windows 8 computer. I've tried countless times and it goes so far but then says there is an error installing. Try again!

Really struggling with this. I have tried countless times this afternoon and am getting nowhere. I ahve the upgrade to Windows 8 on the computer and have selected the download for Windows 8 64 bit option.

The old thread on this topic was mysteriously deleted so I am posting again as I have found the correct solution.
The correct workaround for this issue is to set Internet Explorer as your default browser, then set Chrome back as default browser. After you do that the installers will work correctly.
On the old thread, someone posted to use XP compatibility mode as a workaround. This is NOT correct; if you do this, the automatic updates will not work correctly and your computer will be left vulnerable to hackers. The same goes for using the "offline" installers.

My Lenovo Windows 7 laptop will only recognize my IPhone5 with lighting connector inserted one way -- it is not reversible

It appears that my new IPhone 5 is not recognized by iTunes unless I insert my lightning connector one way into the USB port. Doesn't appear to be reversible.

I am inserting the USB end into the laptop "one way" as you suggest. I agree that USB has always been that way. My point is I have to insert the lightning end of the cable one way into my iPhone in order for it to work.

Installing Windows 7 using non-Lenovo media

Is it possible to use a retail or a non-Lenovo Windows 7 media but use the product key on my laptop?
I really want a fresh install of Windows without having to use the recovery disk.
If anyone has any alternatives let me know.

I don't think so. The keys are a different subset for OEM and retail and using an OEM key for a retail SKU (even though they match, i.e. Ultimate OEM key --> Ultimate retail SKU) won't work.
