Lenovo x240 Paper LED 12.5 is broken

I have Lenovo X240 laptop serial no xxxxx.   Monitor cracked inside due to physical damaged. It is 12.5 Paper LED 30 PIN connector.  Requested reseller for quotation in doha and dubai. Due to unavailability of spare, lenovo is not reverting for long time i.e., 2 weeks.  This spare is not available in Dubai Lenovo express also.   I would like to know when lenovo can producer these spares in middle east.
Moderator comment: Serial number(s) removed to protect member from mischief.

Hmmm,  on the US site, there are four display options.  2 HD and 2 HD premium.  They all  offer a camera option except the HD premium with 3x3 antenna.
Do you see something similar on the German site?

  • Lenovo X240 keeps rebooting with Kernel-Power (Event ID:41); Windows 7 Professional

    Hi All
I have my newly Lenovo x240 installed with Windows 7. Sometime, it can boot up, but sometimes it keep rebooting during the windows logo appear.
When it goes wrong, it will have the following screen.
But, if I am lucky, after several "auto-reboot", I can get into the Windows 7. But sometimes, it shows the similar screen above (without windows logo but with what my current desktop), and it then auto reboots.
This scenario is so random, I don't know how to fix it. At this stage, I don't want to use system restore, as some software is installed by my client which is not located near my office, while the reboot issue happens before those installation
Here are some event 41 details that I captured.

    Could you please help?
    BR
    Jacky

    Hi JackyCheung,
I would strongly you to ensure you have the latest drivers and also Windows Updates installed before proceeding with anything else. Have you ran the diagnostics to see if anything hardware related maybe causing the issue?
In this scenario I highly doubt System Restore would help, was it working OK when you got it? what has changed since it was working without the issue?
    Regards

  • Kubuntu 14.04 + Lenovo X240 + Thinkpad Ultra Dock 90w - multiply display

    Operating system - Kubuntu 14.04
I have Lenovo X240 two Dell monitors connected to DP1 and DP2 of the Thinkpad Ultra Dock 90w.
Now it works only in next modes:
Two connected monitors works in clone mode (each 1920x1080).
Two connected monitors works as one big monitor with 3840x1080 resolution.
So, looks that both monitors are connected to "DP2" output of the xrand.
Are anybody know how to force to work two connected monitors in 'extend desktop' mode, so each should be 1920x1080 but no clone?
Output of the xrand is below:
    Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767

Seems that there is no solution now, because DP MST should be implemented in Linux: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72795

  • Lenovo X240 Unknown Device Windows 7 64bit

    Hi All,
I was wondering if somebody can help me indentify the missing driver from my Lenovo X240. I'm currently running windows 7 64 sp1 Enterprise and I installed all the drivers except for one. I've contacted Lenovo technical support in Atlanta Georgia and they couldn't figure it out. I'm attaching a few screen shots to see if anybody knows what the missing device could be...
    Thanks for your help.

  • Task Sequence Fails after Software Updates Install Step - Lenovo X240

    Hi All.
I'm having a strange issue trying to run an OSD on Lenovo X240 machines.
After the Software Update step, it reboots as expected, then exits the task sequence and sends you to the windows logon screen.
Review the SMSTS.log, it appears the reason is:
Found network adapter "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260" with IP Address 0.0.0.0.
    TSMBootstrap 24/07/2014 15:07:10
    1824 (0x0720)
Found network adapter "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection I218-LM" with IP Address 0.0.0.0.
    TSMBootstrap 24/07/2014 15:07:10
    1824 (0x0720)
    Full log file:
    SMSTS.log
If I remove the Software Updates step, the task sequence completes without any problems.
Don't think it is a driver error, as above, every other step completes without issue. Other models use the same task sequence (including software updates step) without any problems.
    Any ideas? I'm completely stuck.
    Thanks!

Looks like I am deploying KB2965788 which requires two restarts.
    Thanks all for your help.
P.S. - I periodically update the base image with a build & capture to include the latest updates, so in the times between this I deploy the software updates as part of the task sequence.
I've found the offline servicing to be very flaky, have attempted to use it many times and found it either a) doesn't apply the updates to the image b) corrupts the image.

I'm not sure if you are asking if you can or telling us you are doing it, either way if you can you may need to get the media from Lenovo, or stick with 8 and wait a month then get yourself Windows 10

  • Can't OSD the Lenovo X240

Hey guys so I've been very succesfully OSD'ing various computers the past half year.
    Lenovo T61, T500 T520,
I install Windows 7 Enterprise on these machines
today I got some Lenovo x240.. so I got the SCCM driver pack from their webiste, Windows 7 (x64)
took the network drivers from the driverpack.. and injected into the boot image..and then I did PXE, and entered Windows PE
I can see down below its loading the correct x64 wim that has the network drivers injected.
then it says 'Windows is Starting' ...
    and 'Preparing network'
    then it reboots...
now So, logically to me that would mean.. network driver issue.. but I'm kinda lost
cause I added the 5 drivers the official SCCM package had to the boot image:
    "Intel® 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection"
    "Intel® 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection"
    "Intel® Ethernet Connection I217-LM"
And the last two were called somthing like: (sorry don't have access from this machine)
"Wireless, Network NIC" <-- I know these are the important ones from other machines.
I quickly tested a Lenovo T520, which starts correctly.. so nothing is wrong on other devices
There are no more network drivers in the SCCM Pack, than those 5
can anyone help me troubleshoot this?
I seem to be able to get to the Task Sequence with all other models

    its very persisting..
    Enviroment: SCCM 2012 SP1, CU3, trying to deploy Windows 7 x64 Enterprise
    Problem:
The Lenovo X240 fails at the start of Windows PE
(All other models I have use the same deployed task sequence without errors)
    What I've tried/confirmed:
1: Confirmed my Windows PE is 8.1
2: Tried all the windows 7 x64 network drivers from Lenovos site, tried all the 8.1 aswell.
also tried them together. these drivers I tried had other x240 users confirmed to work.
3: It uses the correct boot image
4: I did 'ipconfig' during Windows PE, and no network adapters are found
5: I manually placed windows 7 on a x240, and installed the network card to make sure its not a hardware error
6: I checked everything is correctly distributed and deployed
7: On the x240, I made sure the Windows PE actually includes the driver that I injected to the windows PE, by browsing the directories in command prompt
8: I created entirely new boot images, and again tested they worked on all other models.
9: I tried to inject the ENTIRE SCCM driver pack Lenovo has made into the boot image
10: After reading about this possible mistake, I made sure the BIOS shows the correct time/date
11: I updated BIOS to the newest version

  • Lenovo x240 battery issue

Hi Everyone I have a Lenovo x240 connected to a USB 3 Thinkpad docking station and I had a message come up saying "Windows is unable to stop the device "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery*. Don't remove this device while it is still in use. Close any programs using this device and then remove it."

Do you have both batteries for Power Bridge in your X240?

  • Detection Error 2100 - Lenovo X240 with Crucial M500 SSD

I have a new Lenovo X240 out of the box.  I immediately upgraded with a Crucial M500 SSD 240mb drive.  The computer is running a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit. The BIOS on the laptop is the most current.  The firmware on the M500 is the most current.  It seems that every several times I start or reboot the system I receive "DETECTION ERROR 2100".  After powering off the machine and powering it on again the computer will boot to Winddows.
I have seen numerous posts about this issue between Crucial vs. Lenovo.  I've tried every suggested fix to no avail.  I have tried the configuration using an identical, brand new M500 SSD with the same results.  Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions,.

Hello mrtree and welcome to the Crucial forum. I spotted your post yesterday and spent some time Googling for info from the Lenovo support forum last night. I found several things you are probably aware of. First, this Detection Error 2100 is not limited to just the X240 series laptops, there are quite a few other models affected in the same way. Second, it is not limited to only Crucial SSDs, there are people with Samsungs, Toshibas, Intels, and even conventional drives that have experienced this same problem at system boot. These two observations indicate to me that problem is probably related to BIOS/firmware/driver issues. Since you have stated that you already installed the latest BIOS(v. 2.23?) and firmware(chipset v. 9.5.22.1760?), that leaves one area: drivers. From what I can see, the latest Intel RST drivers available are version 12.8.10.1005, dated 1/26/2014. Please be aware that there are seperate downloads for 32 and 64 bit systems. There is also a Solid State Drive Firmware Update Utility listed, but I do not recommend using it since Crucial M500s are not listed in the "Read Me" notes. Which brings up the question of SSD firmware, do you have the MU03 or MU05 firmware installed on your Crucial SSDs? Also, just to double check, do you have AHCI mode enabled in your BIOS settings? You'd be surprised at how many people overlook this. I suppose that Lenovo will get around to releasing updated software addressing this issue, as they have for the other brands of SSD drives, it's just a question of when. Edit: Two more things I thought of after my initail post. First, did you order your M500 directly from Crucial? When I ordered the M500 for my Lenovo T400 Thinkpad, I went to the website and used the advisor to find the M500 part number for my machine. I called to order several days later, and when I gave the part number to the customer representative, she immediately replied "that's for a Lenovo T400, correct?". That tells me there is a part number that is specific to the T400 series, and this may also be the case with the X240 series. Ordering from an online retailer or purchasing the M500 from a store may not have given you the correct part. Second, does your machine have Intel's Management Engine firmware installed, and do you have it enabled? Try entering BIOS and disabling it, just to see if this problem persists. I've noticed that on my T400, when I boot from the DVD drive or a USB stick, I see a brief warning message from the Management Engine stating that I'm not using the normal boot device, but then my machine boots regardless. Perhaps it's causing some sort of grief for your machine.

  • Lenovo X240, only 1,6GHz cpu

Hello, I have a Lenovo X240 that should have 2,29GHz cpu speed. If I look in Computer properties and System I can see this info: Intel Core i5-4200 CPU @ 1,60GHz 2.29GHz. CPU-Z only shows 1596MHz at Core speed. Any ideas?

    > I have found other people with the same problem but cannot seem to find a solution
Please use search option on this forum and you will find enough topics with very precise explanation why the notebook runs on 598 MHz only.
I can say just one thing: it can not be that notebook runs like this from the first day. If your friend sold you this notebook he conceals something from you. Anyway contact nearest service partner in your country and they can fix this for you.

I tried cpu-z but that is only showing 1,6GHz.
I use System Explorer. After installing it just place your mouse cursor over the SE icon in the system tray. That will bring up a status window that shows, among other things, the CPU speed.
Incidentally what size AC charger are you using? Some ThinkPads will not run at full speed unless they're powered from AC using a 90W charger.

  • LCD in Lenovo X240 Model Type: 20AM-S07V00 - S/N: PF-00M2FK

As at the title, can anybody tell me what kind of the LCD is in Lenovo X240 Model Type: 20AM-S07V00 - S/N: PF-00M2FK. I means if is it IPS or TN?

According to the wiki adding rcutree.rcu_idle_gp_delay=1 as a kernel parameter should mitigate this:  "NVRM: GPU at 0000:01:00.0 has fallen off the bus."

Adding nolapic stops my monitors from going black, but then I only have one cpu core, and probably other problems...

  • Bricked Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro-1370 due to broken microsoft ecosystem / unrecoverable admin account

Hi. So now I am here. HELLO EVERYONE! All you friendly and curious troubleshooters. I am frustrated and lost. I will not give you the 14 step Microsoft issue.  But I guarantee this will be one of the more bizarre or interesting problems you have read in a bit.   so tl;dr - my yoga 3 is bricked because the user account switched the administrator to an unrecoverable & disused / non-used outlook.com email account b/c of the MS App store. Their tech has not helped, no recovery has worked at all. I just want to factory reset the hardware at this point, but the software "glitch" needs me to log in to my admin account to factory reset, which is something I can't do.   Way too long of info story:   a) on my lenovo tablet, I had my personal login to sign into my admin profile. I did not use a MS Outlook account at all. In Feb, I signed up w/ a "dummy" outlook.com account for the app store, but never DL anything, and didn't think to realize this account locked me into an ecosystem... I just thought it was a temp email to register, and didn't keep any details. The 1st time it removed my local user account profile from admin, and replaced it with the outlook.com account. I immediately switched it back, that time.   b) 2 weeks ago, I wanted to DL The Economist app. We hadn't used any apps, & again it made me sign in to Microsoft. I signed into my account and DL the app. I believe it signed in with a remembered password, as I don't remember it. It could be one of 15.    c) At this point, microsoft's account removed my personal local lenovo user account, and replaced it with the microsoft outlook.com sign in d) Now, when I try to log in to my tablet, it says "You can't sign into your PC right now. Go to account.live.com to fix the problem, or try the last password you used on this PC". No previous passwords work. This is probably because I tried to sign in a bunch of times under my personal local user account, before realizing it had switched the admin to the outlook.com account. e) I go to account.live.com, and it redirects to login.live.com. When I try to sign in with my outlook.com account, it says "You've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect email address or password." f) At this point, a captcha comes up, and no matter how many times I solve it correctly, it won't let me sign in. I did get to a point where I see a different type of screen that says my account is locked. g) When I try any form of account recovery, and attempt to have an email or password sent to my secondary recovery email, those emails never arrive in my inbox. h) when I attempt to have a code sent to my phone, I never receive the code. i) the microsoft support number has a phone tree that leads me to a place that tells me to go online to get support. j) When I try to contact customer support, it leads me back to the login in page. So I made *another* MS account for support, and have spent 2 weeks getting copy pasta support about "try password reset", "try text code reset", "try account recovery". I never get the password reset to my recovery email, I never get the text, and the account recovery doesn't work because I never used the email, and don't have enough information like email subject lines, or folders, for them to know the account is mine.... even though it was a throwaway email to use for the ecosystem, and not to use for anything else. I am still 10 tech support messages in with their support team, and they still haven't realized the problem: I DO NOT CARE ABOUT RECOVERING MY OUTLOOK EMAIL, but I do if that's the only way to gain access to my hardware's admin account. I have tried everything, and it doesn't work. I do not care anymore. I just want to factory reset the **bleep** thing, but it needs my password for the admin account to do it. Ain't that the darndest thing? I mean.. think about it! Microsoft's broken ecosystem of account recovery means their software has intrinisically bricked my Yoga 3 and made it unusable. I can still use a sub-account, but it acts all wonky because it wants me to download apps using an outlook account and when I try to sign a new one in, it leads to broken links, etc. If Microsoft's ecosystem doesn't allow for account recovery in any way, how do I take control of my hardware again? I feel frustrated and alone. This was a HUGE purchase for us, and I never thought a software glitch or problem with the ecosystem would brick hardware in this manner. NB: I know I have to take some accountability for not remembering the password, or realizing the ecosystem being a bit rigid and fierce, especially when trying to find back end understanding or support in recovery.... I had no idea, and that's on me. I also know it's not "bricked" IE unusable, per se... but not being able to log in to the admin account, nor make changes, updates, or get into the app store... it's pretty brickish. Thanks for listening. Any help is appreciated.

  • Apple Thunderbolt Monitor connect to Lenovo X240. Is it possible to connect thinkpad to Thunderbolt monitor. Only need display.

For my day job I am required to use a Lenovo Thinkpad X240 and would like to use my Thunderbolt display.  Is it possible to connect? I am not concerned about audio capabilities. If yes what adapters should I use?

I have a similar situation, however my Lenovo is an X1Carbon and it DOES have a thunderbolt port.  Can I use my Levono X1Carbon with my apple thunderbolt external monitor?  I have tried plugging it in, however it doesn't seem to be working?  Is there something specific that I need to do?
    Thanks!
