Lenovo X300 WWAN card

I know that the Lenovo x300 supports the Verizon and IBM WWAN cards, but I need to know is it possible to get a Sprint card that will work in the Lenovo x300.

Hello,
I have done some deep research on this matter for myself, I have an x61 and would like to swap the factory installed wwan card with a gsm card by Sierra but not with Lenovo FRU.
The Thinkpad bios will not accept parts other than the ones approved by lenovo and on which there is lenovo FRU#, even if from the same manufacturer, the "Whitelist" is here:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-62906
if you would install a generic part non lenovo approved, the bios will not boot the system, give you an error message  and tell you to remove the card.
There is a solution for this issue, it can be found here:  http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=55837&start=300
but it involves flashing your machine with a modified bios which could be risky.
I am going to try it because my preinstalled wwan card is for services by Vrison in the USA, I need a GSM card for Europe and other locations with GSM providers only, I will remove the original which is useless for me and replace it with a non Lenovo Sierra MC8775 WWAN HSDPA 3G card and flash the bios.
Hope this helps

  • List of Thinkpad T410 WWAN cards?

Hi, where can I find a list of Lenovo approved WWAN cards?
Moderator edit: Matched subject to question.

Hi luisborin, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
The best place to find a list of approved WWAN cards for a ThinkPad is in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for the system:

  • How to enable the 3G card on the lenovo x300 647818M under VISTA?

    Hi
Anyone knows how to enable the 3G SIM card under the VISTA???
I insert the one 3G card into the backsideof laptop and install the driver. But  i never get any pop up for connect to internet via the 3G sim card.
    So, Please help.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You need a SIM card AND a WWAN card. In brief, your SIM card authorizes you to connect to your wireless provider's network. The WWAN card contains the electronics which connect to your provider's network. Your X300 does not have a WWAN card. Some X300 configurations do.

  • X300, WWAN and Windows 7

I have an X300 (6478-15G) bought originally with Vista. I re-built manually with W7 using my MS Partner licenses but that was not a roaring success as I had to scrape around to find various ThinkVantage add ons.
Not entirely satisfied I decided to do a clean build using Lenovo recovery discs for the X300 (6478-15G) for W7 purchased from the US . Installation was a breeze, but the final build had no drivers for the WWAN card.
I've trawled high and low over the web trying different proffered solutions. Most of those leave bits of the device not installed/non-operational. Having dismantled the X300 I can confirm that I have a Sierra Wireless MC8775 mini PCI inside.
Can someone please point me at the definitive W7 drivers for this combination? And any idea why the recovery CDs did not contain the drivers?
    Thanks in advance ....

OK things I can think of to check:
    * IIRC the first time you power up the card using Fn-F5 it finishes the driver install. Is the card powered on?
    * You need the Power Manager Driver (but the Power Manager Utility is not essential) to power the card on, and Hotkeys for Fn-F5 to work.
    * Run System Update 4.0 - it may indicate what is missing.

  • T400 WWAN card Change

    Hi!,
I'm thinking in buy a new laptop, a T400. am trying find some pre-configured system in the Personal Systems Reference (PSREF), I found it, but the configuration I choose (2767R9U) come with Verizon WWAN card. My question is, Can I buy the AT&T card and change it?, I ask this because am not sure if this configuration come with a SIM reader slot. A familiar has a similar incindent with a vaio, it has verizon card, and when he want to change for a AT&T card, the computer doesn't have a SIM reader Slot, so I want to confirm it before buy the laptop.
    Thanks a lot,
    Sorry about my english!!.

Currently, I have two ThinkPads model T400. They are both WWAN upgradeable, meaning that the antennas and SIM card slot are in place but missing the actual WWAN card.
So rest assured that you will not have a problem. Assuming that you will be purchasing the appropriate IBM/Lenovo AT&T WWAN card.

  • X300 WWAN - works in XP, fails in Windows 7

There have been a few threads on WWAN and Windows 7 but I can’t find an answer to my problem. I haven't been able to get my Sierra WWAN card + Vodafone UK (pre-pay) to work with Windows 7. I had more or less given up but thought I'd have one last try. Fortunately, I still have dual boot into XP available and the card works under XP, so it isn't a hardware or SIM card issue. When I try with WIn7 and the latest drivers from the download site, it just won't connect. It tries for ages and gives up. The XP and Win 7 drivers are the same version. The error messages from Access Connections are: Error Code 068 1) Unable to connect to network at this time due to out of coverage or sign-up period is expired. Please contact your service operator or click on "Repair" button for sign up. 2) The mobile station is requesting a service option for which it has no subscription. Please contact your wireless WAN service provider. I can’t find anything useful via Google on this – can anyone help? Rgrds, F

my problem wasn't exactly the same, but somewhat the same. i have an at&t 3g wireless adapter that wouldn't work with windows 7.  i don't use access connections.  the adapter came with a sierra wireless utility so i brought up the utility and it connected okay with it.  i also have an azio 802.11n usb adapter that windows 7 can't connect with. so i use the utility that came with it and it works okay.  i know that access connections kinda takes over everything so i wonder if you were able to use the sierra connect utility whether it would work or not.

  • Lenovo B560 WWAN?

I have a Lenovo B560, it has the slot for the WWAN card inside and I got a GOBI 1000 WWAN card but when I install it the laptop dispaly a message saying that this card was not valid for the laptop and I need to remove it. That is what I did and I would like to know which WWAN card is compatible with Lenovo B560. • T530 compatible wwan cards

I have a T530 and plan on buying a wwan card.
Lenovo support site says that Ericsson H5321gw half size is compatible (link here), but I am not sure if only cards bought from lenovo will work. They recommend buying the card from them, and that is understandable from a marketing perspective, and considering the prices they have. But similar cards (based on the same chip) are available from third parties at a fraction of the cost. They should work, unless lenovo blocks them using some identification built into their own cards, to give no choice than buyin from them.
I am interested if anyone has tried "similar" wwan cards from thirs parties, and how did those cards work, or not.
In particular, I am interested in Ericsson H5321gw cards.
    Thanks.

What does "Lenovo" and "non-Lenovo" card mean?
Take for example this card based on Ericsson H5321gw from the Lenovo web site: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?&DocID=PD024213. It is not branded as Lenovo, it only has the Ericsson logo.
A similarly looking card, and based on the same chipset, here: https://techship.se/products/ericsson-h5321gw-101/. I don't think there are technical differences between the two, in terms of certifications, emisions etc.
    thank you!

However, I cannot downgrade to MM 0.6 as Gnome 3.8 and NetworkManager require >=0.7.
Has anyone encountered this problem before and has a fix/solution? Or should I file a bug in the Arch tracker? I got Bluetooth PANs to work with a patched bluez from this board, as the upstream version is behind the one used by fedora (4.101-1 vs. 4.101-4). WWAN is the only thing that doesn't work with my new Arch setup.
Thanks in advance, any help would be much appreciated.

I did, you linked to it already
I slightly modified modemmanager-git in the AUR and added some dependencies, the git version now works for me.

    Hi,
    I see two possibilities.
The AMD 8490 is not compatible with your PC.
The 250 watt power supply in your PC is insufficient.
Try clearing the CMOS and see if that helps.  If not, then try the BIOS update that is posted for your PC.

  • Lenovo A328 Sim card size

    Hi,
I just bought a Lenovo A328 for my father, and he complains to me that the sim card is doen't fit the card slot.
So I am wondering what is the Lenovo A328 sim card size?  Is it a mini sim card or regular sim?
As I check on the internet, the lenovo official say it is regular size sim card, but my father sim card is regular sim but still can't insert  the sim.
And when I check from other source, some stated that it is a mini sim card slot.
This make me confused, can somebody please tell me what is the card slot size for this model?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi mytc
The Lenovo A328 has 2 Mini SIM card slots. We(in general) refer to the Mini SIM card as the normal/regular SIM card.
I still remember my father's first Motorola cell phone....You had to insert the whole card(credit card size) inside. That was the ''regular'' back then.
I hope you don't take this the wrong way but maybe your father is inserting the SIM card backwards. It happens sometimes.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers.

  • Can x240 have both an M.2 SSD AND a WWAN card?

Can an X240 laptop have both an M.2 SSD and a WWAN card simultaneously installed?  Or is there only a single M.2 port such that you can only have one or the other?
Also, if you buy an X240 that comes from the factory with an SSD, is the factory SSD an M.2 SSD, or a 2.5" SATA3 SSD?
    Thanks.
