Lenovo Y50 4k UHD white color is really warm (yellowish)

Hi all,
I happen to have a Y50 FHD and a Y50 UHD placed side by side and I noticed the UHD produced dim and yellowish White color compared to FHD version. The panel on the UHD version is Samsung SDC4852.
I am not talking about the fiasco of "yellow being too dark" issue on previous Y50 version, although I know that this second gen Y50 UHD version that I got is SUPPOSEDLY fixed with yellow color issue.
This "warm white" color could be related to bad or insufficient back light but I don't know for sure. So anyone who owns a Lenovo Y50 UHD, please give me an input ?

Lenovo Y50-70 UHD WLAN grotten schlecht

Hallo, ich habe bereits das Forum nach Lösungen durchsucht, aber irgendwie komm ich hier auf keinen grünen Zweig. Ich habe den Lenovo Y50-70 UHD, SSHD 1 TB, 16 GB RAM. Wie man im Betreff lesen kann, habe ich Probleme mit dem WLAN Empfang. Standardmäßig ist in dieser Variante die Atheros Wireless kombination mit Bluetooth verbaut. Nach vielem rumlesen habe ich dann herausgefunden, dass da ungefähr jeder damit Probleme hat (ausser die, die 1m neben dem Router sitzen und sich nicht beschweren) und man Abhilfe schaffen kann, wenn man sich das Lenovo zertifizierte Intel AC 7260 o.Ä. stattdessen verbaut. Pustekuchen! Nichts hilft, diese habe ich verbaut und es bringt genauso die aller selbe schlechte Leistung, zudem kostet diese Karte natürlich auch noch.Ich muss vielleicht noch Beschreiben wie ich zu dieser Bewertung komme, dass die WLAN Funktion absolut "grotten schlecht" ist. In meinem Haus befinden sich 4 Laptops, 5 Smartphones (verschiedene Geräte, verschiedene Hersteller). Diese Geräte verwenden eben WLAN und arbeiten einwandfrei mit unserem Speedport LTE 2. Einwandfrei heißt, es sind 2 Stockwerke im Haus, es hat ein Ausmaß von 10 x 10 Meter und jedes dieser genannten Geräte (egal, ob gleichzeitig oder nicht) Funktioniert in jedem Winkel des Hauses (auch wenn z.b. 3 Wände und/oder eine Decke dazwischen sind) - abzüglich eines Laptops, dem neuen Y50-70. Das macht schon schlapp, wenn nur eine Dünne Wand innerhalb 5 Metern zwischen Router und Laptop ist.Schlapp im Sinne von Übertragungsratenmalus von ca 80% und Verbindungsabbrüche im ca. 10 min Takt. Laut Diagnose Tool ist eine Signalstärke von -50dBm an dieser Stelle:5m Entfernung mit ca 20 cm Dicker Ziegelsteinwand, angezeigter Empfang am Laptop, 4 von 5 Empfangsbalken (nicht besser oder schlechter als bei meinen anderen Geräten). Trotzdem Abbrüche und Übertragungsprobleme.Ich sollte noch erwähnen, dass es im Umkreis keine anderen Störenden WLAN Signale von Nachbarn o.Ä. gibt. Nicht nur, dass es Zuhause nicht funktioniert. Den Laptop habe ich gekauft um damit auch an der Hochschule arbeiten zu können, da ist aber schon allein das Problem, dass ich nicht mal Anmeldedaten eingeben kann. Es fragt mich nichtmal danach. Um diese Probleme zu Lösen, habe ich natürlich nicht nur probiert die selbstverständlich richtigen Treiber zu installieren(auch in bestimmten Reihenfolgen - Quelle Internet), sondern ich habe auch das vorinstallierte Windows 8.1 neu installiert, das funktionierte immer nocht nicht. Dann habe ich meine private win 8.1 pro version ebenso erfolgslos installiert und bin mittlerweile bei der neuen Win 10 Version angelangt, die mir immer noch keine Besserung bietet. Zu meiner Frage, da ich immer nur halbfertige Antworten in diesem Forum finde...Gibt es denn irgend eine Lösung, die den WLAN Empfang des Y50-70 verbessern könnte, oder nicht? Möglicherweise könnten Sie mir auch sagen, woran das liegen könnte, dass man scheinbar nur direkt auf einen Router verbinden kann und nicht auf Benutzerverwaltete Netzwerke. Ich danke im voraus und hoffe, Sie nehmen sich hierfür Zeit und können mir eine deutliche Antwort geben. Hey, ich habe genau das gleiche Problem und auch in meinem Thread konnte keiner helfen.Dass ich 900€ bezahle und der WLAN-Empfang bei scheinbar vielen Lappis dieser Reihe solche Probleme macht ist ein ganz großer Scherz. Von Lenovo-Seite bekommt man auch keine vernünftige Lösung bzw. Antwort und wird mit Reperaturen vertröstet die ebenfalls nichts bringen.Meiner geht definitiv zurück, das ist in der Preisklasse einfach nicht tragbar! Hoffe du findest noch eine Lösung, Beste Grüße

Lenovo Y50-70 UHD display - Gray dots on black background colour just appeared suddenly

Hi support technicians and assistants. 1 month ago 2 gray dots just appeared suddenly on my UHD display on the Lenovo Y50-70. Those can be seen only on black background. The dots are 3 mm long and 2 mm wide and the other one it's smaller. What can I do to fix those? They are very disturbing when I do something on black background! Thank you. If needed I can send pictures.

There are many gray pixels, visible on black background, in that 2 faulty areas because it is a UHD display. A 3 by 2 mm area means many pixels not only a few and there are 2 small areas like this one. I will try the recommandations and return a reply. Thank you.neokenchi wrote:

Ipod frozen at white screen and really warm

today i decided to downgrade my iPod touch 5th gen to ios 8.0.2 from ios 8.1 while i still could because it worked better on my iPod. i downloaded the ipsw file and started to downgrade it the regular thing happened on my iPod with the apple logo and the bar after that was done it did the same process again but it got stuck at 95% and i forcefully turned it off and on then a white screen appeared and it said swipe to upgrade and i did i put in my pass code then it showed a regular ios upgrade screen with the apple logo and bar being black instead of white and the background white instead of being black and again it got stuck at 95% i did the same thing turned it off and on and the same thing happened then i did it again and the exact same thing happened then i decided to just let it run out of power after about a half a hour later it was still stuck at 95% but my iPod was really warm so i powered it off and took it out of it's case and after a few minutes it cooled down but i haven't turned it on again what do i do? and iTunes does recognize my iPod tried restoring it while it was like this but iTunes told me to turn off find my iPod before i could restore but i can't turn off find my iPod because of my problem what do i do?

Placing the iPod in recovery mode or DFU mode as described above should allow a restore

Help Lenovo Y50-70 Win 8.1 clean install

I'm new to Lenovo, Win 8 and to this forum. I'm considering buying Lenovo Y50-70 Notebook model 59441814 - Intel Core i7 4270HQ, 8GB DDR3L, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GTX 860M 4GB, 15.6" Touchscreen, 4K UHD, USB 3.0, no DVD drive and Win 8.1 pre-installed. I also have retail MS Win 8.1 Pro "Full Version" 64 bit DVD and key. Would like to upon receipt of latptop to: (1) replace 256GB SSD with a Crucial MX200 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" SSD, and (2) do a complete clean install using my retail 8.1. Reasons are: increased capacity and get rid of all the unnecessary stuff that Lenovo pre-installs. Since I don't have a DVD drive and I have read there are some issues with boot secure, can someone provide recommendation on sequence of steps to follow. and /or how to.

Welcome to the Forums.
When you receive the Y50-70, can you try these steps:
1. Follow this video disassembly guide on how to replace the HDD with an SSD. Alternatively, you can also watch this youtube video on how to replace the drive.
2. If you're planning to install Windows 8.1 Pro in UEFI mode, follow this guide on how to convert the DVD installer into a USB installer. When finished, boot into the BIOS and set the following settings then hit F10 to save and exit.

Secure Boot = Disabled
USB Boot = Enabled
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS
When finished, boot from the USB flashdrive that you created (by tapping F12 and selecting the flashdrive on the boot manager) and you should be able to install Windows 8.1 Pro on the SSD.

Can't get white color to stay white between color profiles

Hello,
I installed Photoshop CS4 and am using a Samsung flat panel monitor. I do web design and print design. Here is the problem:
Web design:
Color profile is set to Monitor Color
Proof color is set to Monito RGB
Proof Colors is checked
When I save image through Save For Web, it looks fine in the preview box but in some browsers it has blue tint (even the white color now looks blue)
I tried embedding the monitor coor profile into the exported JPEG and tried converting to sRGB and it always is a problem
Print design:
When I make a new CMYK document 300dpi the white now has a yellow tint.
I tried to paint the entire image white (and the foreground color is clearly white) then go with the eyedropper it says its fff6db (yellowish)
Proof Color: working CMYK
CMYK Color: US Web Coated (SWOP) v2
Color Managment Policies are all off
What I want is an explanation of how I can make sure that the colors are correct on my screen such that what I see on the monitor is exactly what everyone will see on their browsers. And that there are no color shifts. I had version 6 at work and its fine, when I converted from RGB to CMYK the colors just got a little washed out but the whites remained white.

Web design - you're ignoring the display profile, twice. What you see on your system is exactly what you'll see in the browsers. But nobody else will ever see it exactly the same way because you refer everything to your specific display.
Print design - you're actually using the display profile, and that profile is wrong. You're seeing a yellow tint because your monitor profile claims that the white is bluer than it really is, and Photoshop is correcting for that. To get rid of the tint, you need a display profile that correctly describes your display.

Possibly moving from a Lenovo y50 to a gs60 pro but have a question.

Hello everyone.
I have a Lenovo y50 touch that is about to be past its return date friday, I love the laptop but sadly there are 2 things wrong with it that are bad enough to make me want another computer.
The first thing is the screen, I have adjusted the color as well as I can and it is still mediocre at best.
Second thing is, you can not use the HDMI out with the gtx 860m, it will only use the Intel graphics. Thus making the idea of the laptop a desktop replacement impossible, that and the terrible screen ruin the laptop.
My main question is if you hook HDMI cable (or the display link) to a monitor will the laptop allow you to use the graphics card for display?
If I go into my nVidia display settings when I have HDMI connected it will not show the external monitor, only the intel software shows it.
I have a week till Friday to fill for an RMA and I would like to get both laptops to compare beforehand. But if the gs60 pro will not be able to function as a true desktop replacement then there is no point in spending the extra cash.

You can't change the design of external display port.
For GS60, the HDMI port is connected with the Intel Graphics, thus you can only adjust the display settings by using Intel Graphics Properties.

Lenovo Y50-70 wont turn on at all

hay , i just bought lenovo y50 last week and very satisfied with the performance but this morning when i try to turn on my laptop from hibernate, the layer sudenly goes white so i decide to hard hard shutdown it but when i try to turnit on again it didnt show any sign of life ( layer and fan didnt turn on etc... ) but the battery charge indicate is on ... i read in the internet that we must take out our battery and push the power button to 5-10 second. but since the lenovo y50 has built in battery and im afraid to take the backcase open because of the warranty so i've tough . anyone can help me?

I just got the same problem this morning with my Y50-70. It suddenly turned off while I was working with Win7, just a black screen, power off. So I tried to power it on again and it failed, simply no reaction at all. The only thing working is the battery LED when the AC connector is plugged in. My Y50-70 is only 5 weeks old and worked without any problems until today ;-(
I called the support at Lenovo and they told me to "hard reset" by pulling the power cable and pressing the power button for 20 seconds....no success at all. Finally after several tries I decided to send my Y50-70 back to Lenovo. It seems to be a hardware problem. Lenovo offer 2 years of warranty for the Y50-70, because of that I decided not to open it. Let´s see how long ist takes until I have my - hopefully working- Y50-70 back.

How come the white color ipad's body is in silver color?

I just got my ipad 2 today.. I really disapppointed when i see some diffrent.. How come the white color ipad's body is in silver color? But yr webpage show the body is white?

Um.....you're not writing Apple here. This is a user to user forum. But, perhaps you should have looked at some more pictures of iPads prior to ordering one. All iPads (Black face or White face) have silver metal bodies, that wrap up the side to the glass front.

Compatible Earbuds With Lenovo Y50

I have a Lenovo Y50 Touch and I've been trying to find earbuds (not headsets) that are compatible with it. I've tried iPhone earbuds along with other brands, and while the sound works fine, the mic is incredibly low. I've been told it's probably the brand of my earbuds, so I was wondering if anybody knows from experience what is a good brand of earbuds where the mic works really well? Preferably available in department stores (ie Walmart/Best Buy/etc)

When I plug in a set of earbuds, it's not shown as a new device whatsoever; Not as headset or as a microphone. I do check to see if it's the laptop microphone that's on by tapping on the location of it slightly and looking at the sound levels and then by also blowing into the location of the earbud's microphone. It's definitely the earbud's microphone being used but it's EXTREMELY low. I have to put my mouth so close to it to even get the slightest of sound.

Lenovo y50 GPU upgrade

I have a Lenovo Y50-UHD with NVidia GeForce GTX 860M 4GB Graphics Card. I want to upgrade my current GPU to NVidia GeForce GTX 960M 4GB. Is it possible to do so?

As far as I am aware, the GPU is soldered onto the motherboard, so removing and replacing it would be impossible. A 960M would have issues playing at 4K anyway though, so if you play at 1080p 2GB VRAM should be plenty anyway .

IPhone 5 screen displays white color inconsistently

Couple months ago I started noticing that when displaying white color, my iPhone 5 is showing a much "cleaner" whites towards the edges as opposed to the majority of the screen, which gets a magenta tone added to it. Initially I could almost ignore it, but it has started to worry me lately as it bacame more noticeable.
I've tried taking a picture, but it was really hard to show the effect. I think the following image would demonstrate the issue in a better way:
The actual problem is not that severe as displayed above, and it only affects pure whites (grays look fine). Basically, a certain distance from the edge of the screen is much whiter than the majority of the screen, which is reddish. This issue is persistent accross applications / white boot-up screen. I've removed the screen protector to make sure it wasn't causing the effect.
Has anyone faced the same issue and what would be the best solution? Does this make a case for product replacement? My iPhone 5 is still under warranty.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, indeed I only started noticing this after updating to iOS7. I've looked at a friends phone, and he has the same issue (only less noticeable), and he never paid attention to it. But this is one of the things that once you see, you cannot unsee, or maybe it's getting worse.

Seems like and LCD defect, even though majority of people point out to occurrence only after iOS 7 update. Nevertheless, most got their devices replaced on the grounds of this problem. This is what I plan to do before the warranty expires.

LENOVO Y50-70 HDMI NOT WORKING

Hello guys.I will start with beggining.In March i decide to buy 1 MSI GE602Pe apache pro laptop with intel processor I7 4720HQ from 1 online store.I buy it got it home i installed windows 8.1 all was ok i connected the laptop with my HDTV via HDMI all was good untill i shutdown laptop for some hours.When i start it HDMI didnt recognize anymore my HDTV.I decided to reinstall drivers nothing happen i reinstalled the windows and from what i remember i got again signal on my TV but again i lose it after shutdown.I have send back the laptop thinking it has some issue with motherboard and i got another laptop 1 Lenovo y50-70 with I7 4710HQ and same intel 4600 hd graphic.This one come with preinstalled windows connected again tv everything works for some days and after again losed the hdtv connection via hdmi.after more then 20 windows rollbacks and 200-300+ graphic drivers reinstalls who grand me just some times image on my HDTV i decided to return and this one and exchange with another y50-70 because i read on lenovo forum someone says is motherboard broken.Yesterday i got the new Lenovo and AGAIN no connection on TV.I have 4 HDMI cables and 5 TV's at home.on no one is working.I decide to test it on my parents tv 1 samsung tv i connect it same old no image i reinstall driver and i got image.i take laptop to my room connect with my tv i got image but again after shutdown no image
My conclusion is the intel 4600 driver is the problem.I installed all the old and new drivers and no one fix this problem!
If anyone has any idea how to fix this will be wonderfull b3cause is imposible 3 new laptops to have HDMI port broken or 4 hdmi cables to not be good and 1 new just buy it with 4k support and 5 tv's to dont work

You can switch on - off the wireless by pressing (airplane mode) F7 or Fn-F7. If this doesn't help you check that wireless device is present in Device Manager, is enabled and working properly (no arrows or yellow triangle present on device). If everything OK go to Control Panel-Network and Internet-Network Connections, identify the Wireless Network Connection. If this is Disabled, double click to enable it, right click and choose Connect. The driver for WiFi you can find here in case that you need.
